I PURCHASED MY LEXUS 2008 ES 350 ON MARCH 2016 FROM LEXUS OF AUSTIN.THE 2008 LEXUS ES 350 HVAC SYSTEM IS BLOWING MOLDY, MILDEW, AND ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE SMELLS INTO THE CAR. THE TOXIC COMBINATION IS MAKING ME SICK AND IS CAUSING TIGHTENING OF MY THROAT, TONGUE, REFLUX, AND STOMACH PROBLEMS. I HAD MY CAR TESTED FOR MOLD AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND.

DASHBOARD IS BURNED PLASTIC,
BOUGHT THIS LEXUS IN 03/12/12. IT IS USED. THERE HAS BEEN MOISTURE IN THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. THIS IS NOT A LITTLE MOISTURE, IT IS VERY EXCESSIVE. WE CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE MOISTURE CAUSES VERY DIM LIGHT WHICH WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. MY HUSBAND TALKED TO A SARAH AS CASE MANAGER AT CORPORATE, MARKET MANAGER FOR SERVICES, VAL KRAMER, WARRANTY COORDINATOR AND EACH OF THEM SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING TO HELP US. "TAKATA RECALL" - WE LIVE IN FLORIDA AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DENVER, COLORADO ON JUNE 28, 2016 ARRIVING JULY 1, 2016. WE RECEIVED THE NOTICE (FORWARDED VIA US MAIL TO OUR ADDRESS IN DENVER) REGARDING THE AIRBAG RECALL ON OR AROUND JULY 25, 2016. WE CONTACTED LEXUS IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER AND WAS TOLD A CASE MANAGER WOULD CALL US BACK WITHIN 2-3 BUSINESS DAYS. WE RECEIVED A CALL ON OR AROUND AUGUST 1, 2016 AND SPOKE WITH A CASE MANAGER, "ZANDRA". SHE REITERATED THE INFORMATION FOUND IN THE NOTICE AND INFORMED US THAT A RENTAL VEHICLE COULD BE MADE AVAILABLE IF NEEDED AND WE WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS VEHICLE. WE INFORMED ZANDRA THAT SINCE WE WERE IN COLORADO AT THIS TIME, IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT SOMEONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DURING THIS TIME AND WE DID NOT WANT TO DRIVE THIS CAR HOME WITH THIS CURRENT RECALL IN PLACE. ZANDRA DID NOT GIVE US ANY OTHER OPTION FOR US AT THIS TIME. WE AGAIN CALLED THE LEXUS CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE (800-255-3987) ON AUGUST 4, 2016 AND SPOKE TO "MICHAEL". WE INFORMED MICHAEL OF OUR PREVIOUS CONVERSATION WITH ZANDRA AND REQUESTED WE SPEAK TO HER. WE INFORMED MICHAEL OF OUR SITUATION AND INFORMED HIM THAT HAVING A RENTAL CAR DOES NOT ALLOW US TO GET OUR CURRENT CAR HOME. WE REQUESTED THAT IN LIEU OF A RENTAL CAR WE WOULD PREFER TO HAVE THE CAR SHIPPED BACK TO OUR FLORIDA ADDRESS WHERE WE HAVE A SECONDARY CAR TO USE. THIS WOULD BE A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE FOR LEXUS THAN GIVING US A VEHICLE RENTAL FOR MONTHS. WE WERE INFORMED BY MICHAEL THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 3 BUSINESS DAYS (PLUS THE WEEKEND) TO RECEIVE A CALL BACK FROM ZANDRA. WE INFORMED MICHAEL THAT WE HAD TO LEAVE COLORADO NO LATER THAN AUGUST 30TH AND NEED TO HAVE THIS ADDRESSED BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL HELP OR INFORMATION. WE ARE NOW STUCK IN COLORADO ON BUSINESS WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR THE REMAINDER OF OUR STAY.

TAKATA RECALL WE WERE FIRST NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM VIA LETTER FROM LEXUS, INC., ON JULY 17, 2016. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SINCE THEN. ON APRIL 13, 2017, NINE MONTHS LATER, WE RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER FROM LEXUS THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS, AND TO CALL OUR DEALER TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. WHEN WE CALLED LEXUS KEARNY MESA, THEY TOLD US THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS, AND THEY WOULD CALL US WHEN THEY GET THEM. NINE MONTHS? TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2016 TELLING ME NOT TO ALLOW ANY FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN MY CAR DUE TO THE AIRBAG SAFETY ISSUES. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST SIX MONTHS AND I STILL CAN'T USE THE PASSENGER SEAT IN MY CAR. I ASKED THE DEALER TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG BUT THEY SAID THEY CANNOT LEGALLY DO THAT. SO NOW, I HAVE A CAR WHICH IS ONLY PARTIALLY USABLE. IF I HAVE SOMEONE RIDE WITH ME I HAVE THEM SIT IN THE BACK SEAT DUE TO THE DANGER. IT IS A LITTLE WEIRD HAVING CO-WORKERS OR CLIENTS SIT IN THE BACK OF MY CAR. THIS CHANGES MY USE OF THE CAR SUBSTANTIALLY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT MAY BE SUMMER OF 2017 BEFORE THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAG WILL BE AVAILABLE. THAT IS NOT A TIMELY FIX TO THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
