TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS RX350. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (METRO LEXUS, 13600 BROOKPARK RD, CLEVELAND, OH 44135) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLING PIPE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 1801240854. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,827.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED WHEN NOT IN USE. CRACK APPEARED WITHOUT THE DASH BEING HIT OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY.
THE OIL PRESSURE HOSE BUSTED. I TOOK MY CAR TO LEXUS AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE RUBBER HOSE WITH A METAL ONE. I PURCHASED THE METAL HOSE AND HAD IT REPLACED. OIL HAD ALREADY LEAKED OUT TO THE POINT THAT CAUSE MY ENGINE TO LOCK UP
ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29 2017 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2007 RX 350 AND SHE NOTICED A LINE OF OIL LEADING TO HER VEHICLE AS IT WAS BACKED INTO A PARKING SPACE. AFTER CHECKING THE OIL SHE NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAD LOST 4 QUARTS OF OIL. UPON INVESTIGATING FURTHER IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE ENGINE LOST THAT AMOUNT OF OIL IN JUST A FEW MILES. WHEN WE DELIVERED THE VEHICLE TO OUR REPAIR SHOP ON OCTOBER 4TH WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS THE RUBBER OIL LINE THAT SPRUNG A LEAK. THEY SAID THEY HAVE REPLACED MANY OF THESE AS THEY ARE A DESIGN FLAW FROM LEXUS DIRECTLY. THE NEW PART WAS IMMEDIATELY ORDERED FROM LEXUS AND IS TO BE INSTALLED WHEN IT COMES IN. AFTER ALL OF THIS I HAVE A QUESTION. IF THIS IS SUCH A PROBLEM PART WHICH HAS BEEN NOW ALTERED TO ELIMINATE THE RUBBER PORTION ON THE PART, WHY WOULD I BE CHARGED FOR THIS PART? THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME. AS AN OWNER PAST AND PRESENT OF 9 (NINE) TOYOTA/LEXUS VEHICLES I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT HOW SOMETHING LIKE THIS SEEMS TO BE ACCEPTED BY TOYOTA MOTOR CORP AS APPARENTLY NO BIG DEAL. HAD MY WIFE NOT NOTICED THE LEAK THE ENGINE WOULD'VE RUN DRY OF OIL AND I'D BE LOOKING AT A BILL FOR A NEW ENGINE. PROBABLY $8,000. DOES ANYONE THERE HAVE AN ANSWER OTHER THAN THE QUALITY OF PARTS AND ENGINEERING AT TMC HAS TAKEN A DOWNWARD TURN. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE RACK AND PINION WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
CAR FIRST MADE A RATTLING SOUND,THEN OIL STARTED LEAKING FROM THE OIL COOLER,WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THIS HAPPENED
ENGINE OIL WAS POURING OUT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE ENGINE OIL COOLER LINE WAS LEAKING. IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS IF I WAS NOT ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY GET THE CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS RX350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED. THE DEALER (STERLING MCCALL LEXUS, 10025 SOUTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77074, (713) 995-2630) WAS CONTACTED, BUT HAD NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 161,390.
THE RACK AND PINION IS LEAKING FLUID (ATF IS USED FOR POWER STEERING) FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE DUST BOOT INDICATING A WORN OUT SEAL AT ONLY 70,000 MILES. THE ONLY FIX IS TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM AT A SUBSTANTIAL COST. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN DEFECT WITH THIS RACK AND PINION SYSTEM BECAUSE I HAVE OTHER VEHICLES WITH WELL OVER 200 K MILES AND NO PROBLEMS.
1.TRANSMISSION UNEXPECTEDLY COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND COMPLETELY STOPPED ON THE FAST LANE. I HAD TO CALL FOR TOWING. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT MECHANIC SHOP. HAPPEN IN NOVEMBER 2016 2. OIL SHOOTING FROM THE BROKEN HOSE CLOSE TO THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. STOPPED CAR AND CALL FOR TOWING. REPLACEMENT OF HOSE COMPLETED AT MECHANIC SHOP. HAPPEN IN 2014. REIMBURSED BY MANUFACTURER. 3. RANDOM FLASHING OF AIR BAG LIGHTS (DRIVER) WITHOUT ANY REASON. LOOKS LIKE SOME SENSOR/ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. HAPPENING NOW.

INTERMITTENT HESITATION OF THE TRANSMISSION. PUT IN GEAR (FORWARD OR REVERSE) AND VEHICLE WON'T MOVE. REV UP ENGINE AND IT SURGES-JERKS FORWARD OR REVERSE.
APRIL 11,2017 TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING RACK. COST $1800. NO WARNING.
MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKED OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE CAR HAS BEEN IN AN INDOOR GARAGE FOR 10 YEARS. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED EVERY 3000 MILES FOR 10 YEARS.
AIR BAG FAILURE LIGHT ON, AIR CONDITIONING DOES NOT WORK, BROKEN OR CRACKED BOARD ALMOST EVERYWHERE, AIR CONDITIONING DOES NOT WORK, MAINTENANCE LIGHT ALWAYS ON DESPITE MECHANICAL OVERHAUL.

2007 LEXUS RX 350. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD THROUGH 2 SMALL TREES. THE ENGINE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP. THE CONSUMER GAVE AUTHORIZATIONS FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 07/06/2017*JS ..UPDATED 08/30/17 *BF *JS
THE DASH STARTED CRACKING AND NOT FROM ABUSE. IT IS PARKED IN A COVERED GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. I'VE READ THE SAME COMPLAINTS. IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND I'M AFRAID IT WILL AFFECT THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENTS. THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS AND REPLACE THE DASH BOARD.
IT GOT BUZZIES OR WHINGING NOISE FROM FUEL PUMP EVEN MY CAR IS 65000 MILES THAT I ALREADY BROUGHT TO DEALER. THEY SAID NO MORE WARRANTY OVER 6 YEARS. IT MADE ME SHAME AND HURT BECAUSE LEXUS SAID WARRANTY MILE BY MILE. IT IS NOT TRUE. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THAT MADE PEOPLE SIT REAR HEADACHE WITH THIS NOISES.
MY RX350 2007 HAS ONLY 35,000 MILES AND THE POWER RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN CHANGED ONCE AND NOW THE DEALER TOLD ME IT IS BAD AND NEED TO CHANGE IT ONLY AFTER 3 YEARS AFTER THEY CHANGED IT. NO SOUND OR LEAKS.
TAKATA RECALL. I JUST PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED 2007 LEXUS RX350 AND THE AIRBAG INFLATOR SRS LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED IN THE DASHBOARD AT 102K MILES EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I DON'T SEE THIS MODEL REFLECTED IN THE RECALL LIST BUT BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE RESEARCHED IMMEDIATELY FOR SAFETY ISSUES. I HAD A HONDA WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS INCLUDED UNDER RECALL.
WHILE SITTING AT A STOP AT ENGINE IDLE, THE CHECK OIL INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHED FOLLOWED BY A SHORT ROUGH IDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND PARKED AND A PHONE CALL MADE TO THE LOCAL LEXUS DEALER. IT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER SHIP. UPON INSPECTION BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP, THE OIL COOLER HOSE HAD EXPLODED CAUSING A LOSS OF ENGINE OIL. AT THE WRITING OF THIS NOTE, INFORMATION WAS SHARED THAT INDICATED A NEWER VERSION OF THE OIL COOLER HOSE WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED. ANY POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE ACCESSED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HOSE AND CLEAN-UP OF THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE AND INSULATION SURROUNDING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WAS COMPLETED. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS TOPIC, WE ARE HOPEFUL LEXUS WILL SHARE IN THE EXPENSE OF THIS REPAIR SINCE IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED THAT SIMILAR FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED.
LOST ENGINE OIL DRIVING 20 MINUTES TO WORK. LEXUS DEALER ADVISED THERE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE OIL COOLER LINE, THERE IS A CAMPAIGN WITHIN 10 YEARS OF FIRST USE. THEY WON'T REPLACE IT UNLESS LEAKING; OTHERWISE YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE UNTIL THE LINE BLOWS CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE. A $60 PART ENDS UP BEING AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT; NEVERMIND THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF AN ENGINE FREEZE AT 65 MILES AN HOUR.
I PURCHASED A USED 2007 LEXUS RX 350 FROM CARMAX IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES ALREADY FOR RATTLE IN BACK OF CAR, IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT, OXYGEN SENSOR REPLACEMENT AND 80,000 MILE SERVICE. THIS MONTH (AUGUST 2016) THE CARE BEGAN TO MAKE A RATTLE JUST AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE. UPON CONTACTING MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE SOUND I AM HEARING IS THE VVT GEAR WHICH WILL NEED REPLACING. THE ESTIMATE GIVEN TO ME WAS $4K. WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN MORE INTERESTING IS THAT MY HUSBAND OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. HIS VEHICLE MAKES THE EXACT SAME NOISE UPON STARTING THE ENGINE. HE TOO WAS TOLD THAT HE NEEDED THE VVT GEAR REPLACED FOR A COST OF $6K WHICH WAS ONLY THE LABOR PORTION. AFTER READING COMPLAINTS WITH THE 2007 LEXUS RX 350 AND KNOWING THAT LEXUS ISSUED A RECALL ON CERTAIN 2008 LEXUS MODELS FOR THIS VERY ISSUE TELLS ME THAT A NEW RECALL SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR DEATH OCCURS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN LEXUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 LEXUS RX350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR AND BREEZE ROOM OF A KITCHEN. ALSO, WHEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, THE ACCELERATOR FAILED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A WHIPLASH, BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWRE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
LEXUS DEALER HAS CONFIRMED THAT THE DASHBOARD WILL BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. BUT DEALER HAS NOT REPLACED THE DASHBOARD IN A YEAR AND WILL NOT PROVIDE AN INDICATION OF WHEN IT WILL BE REPLACED. DURING THE YEAR THE WARRANTY HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED, THE DASHBOARD HAS GONE FROM CRACKED, TO NOW HAVING PIECES FALLING OFF. WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, IT PRESENTS A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER, RESULTING IN A SAFETY ISSUE. IN RESPONSE TO A QUESTION TO THE LEXUS DEALER WHEN THIS MIGHT GET RESOLVED, DEALER INDICATED THAT THE SAME PROBLEM APPLIES TO MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION AND THEY CANNOT SAY WHEN IT WILL GET RESOLVED. DEALER SAID IT IS NOT A DEALER ISSUE, BUT A LEXUS ISSUE. DEALER SAYS THAT LEXUS WILL NOT SEND THEM THE REPLACEMENT DASHBOARDS AND WITHOUT THEM, THE DEALER CAN DO NOTHING. IN THE MEANTIME, THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE NOT GETTING ANY RESOLUTION, EVEN THOUGH LEXUS ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS IS A WARRANTY ISSUE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT ALL OF THOSE WITH THE WARRANTY ISSUE SHOULD BAND TOGETHER TO "PRESSURE" LEXUS TO BE MORE RESPONSIVE BECAUSE THE DEALER CANNOT.
AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD BLINKING. AT FIRST, RESTARTING THE CAR WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE BUT RECENTLY, IT JUST BLINKS CONTINUOUSLY. I BOUGHT THE CAR AT CARMAX AND CAR HAS 90K MILES IN IT, IT'S A LITTLE OVER 30 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED AT CARMAX WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. FOR NO REASON. I WAS NOT IN ANY ACCIDENT. IF THE LIGHT TURNED ON WITHIN THE 30 DAY PERIOD OF PURCHASE, I MIGHT HAVE REPORTED TO CARMAX AND THEY WILL FIX IT FOR FREE (WITHIN 30 DAYS OF BUYING THE CAR). I WENT ONLINE AND SIMILAR HAPPENS WITH OTHER LEXUS 350 CARS. MAYBE NEED A RECALL?
I WENT TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE BACK OF MY LEXUS, WHICH WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE, AND THE HANDLE TO THE REAR DOOR LATCH IS "MELTED". I WENT TO MANUALLY OPEN THE REAR POWER DOOR AND THE PLASTIC OR RUBBER THAT WAS COVERING THE MANUAL BUTTON WAS MELTED AND STICKY. I KEEP MY CAR IN MY GARAGE WHEN I'M NOT RUNNING ERRANDS OR AT WORK. NOT SURE WHEN IT "MELTED" CAUSE I USUALLY USE THE POWER DOOR BUTTON ON MY REMOTE TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
I BRING MY LEXUS FOR OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AND THE RACK AND PIN IN THE STEER WHEEL IS LEAK COST OF TOTAL REPAIR AT LEXUS WOULD BE $2650
THE PASSENGER SIDE OUTSIDE MIRROR EXPLODED SENDING GLASS SHARDS AND CAUSTIC LIQUID ON THE SIDE WINDOW AND PAINTED SURFACE OF THE DOOR AND FENDER AREAS. EXPLOSION WAS SPONTANEOUS WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE, AMBIENT TEMP 50'S, NO BIRD STRIKE, THROWN ROCK OR PROJECTILE. EXPLOSION WAS GUN-SHOT LOUD. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 10MPH ON NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. NO OTHER MOVING CARS AT THE TIME AND THE MIRROR DID NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH ANYTHING. INTERNET SEARCH OF EXPLODING MIRRORS REVEALED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF MANY BRANDS OF VEHICLES. CAUSE OF THE EXPLOSION HAS TO DO WITH THE DIMMING FUNCTION IN THE MIRRORS OF LATE MODEL VEHICLES. THE EXACT MECHANISM CAN ONLY BE GUESSED. THE CAUSTIC LIQUID MIGHT, UNDER PRESSURE AND ELECTRICAL CHARGE TEND TO BEND THE MIRROR IN SOME WAY, AND AFTER SOME TIME, FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY. THIS THEORY WAS CONFIRMED BY A STATE INSPECTION OFFICER WHO HAS HEARD OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH LATE MODEL YEAR SIDE MIRRORS WITH DIMMER FUNCTION. COST OF REPAIR FROM ONE ESTIMATE WAS $1300 FOR A NEW MIRROR AND REPAINTING OF THE MARRED SURFACES. LEXUS HAS REFUSED OUR REQUEST TO REIMBURSEMENT OR EVEN TO CONSIDER THAT THE MIRROR COULD HAVE EXPLODED. I WOULD ALSO ADD THAT HAD THERE BEEN A PASSENGER SEATED AND THE WINDOW DOWN, GLASS SHARDS AND CAUSTIC LIQUID WOULD SURELY HAVE STRUCK THE PASSENGER IN THE FACE. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE MIRRORS AND A RECALL IS CLEARLY IN ORDER.
REAR CALIPER BLEW WHILE DRIVING - ALMOST LOST BRAKES ON HIGHWAY - VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IGNITION COILS FAILED (TWICE) WHILE DRIVING - LOST POWER - ALMOST GOT HIT BY A TRUCK STEERING FLUID LEAK - DEALER SAYS TO GET ENTIRE STEERING REPLACED OR MAY LOSE STEERING WHILE DRIVING!! ALL THIS STARTED AT A MERE 42,891 MILES - AND WE NARROWLY AVERTED POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS AT HIGH SPEED!
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION - THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED IN STOP & GO RUSH-HOUR CITY TRAFFIC STRIKING SEVERAL CARS (6 CARS IN TOTAL) BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BY STRIKING THE OAKLAND POLICE DEPT BUILDING.
THE DRIVER AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING. TAKE TO MECHANIK RESET IT IS NOT GOING AWAY . ITS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN AIRBAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING NORMALLY
THE CAR START FLASHING DRIVER AIR BAG LIGHTS, I TOOK MECHANIK IT'S GIVING SOME CODES. WHEN WE CONTACT THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON THEY SAYT THAT MANUFACTURE IS EXTENDET WARRANTY TO 72 MONTS OR 72000 MILES, BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE PARTS, BUT MY CAR STAR HAVING PROBLEM WHEN I HAVE 87000 MILES. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IF THE PART DEFECTIVE WHY NOT PUT A RECALL? ITS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN I KNOW THE AIR BAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, PLEASE FOLLOW ON THIS COMPLAIN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS RX350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE LOW OIL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LEXUS DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT, DUE TO THE WRONG ENGINE OIL COOLING HOSE BEING INSTALLED, THE PART EXPLODED AND THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CRACKING AND MELTING DASHBOARD CREATING NOXIOUS FUMES IN VEHICLE. IN LATE 2015, WE NOTICED THAT OUR LEXUS RX400H'S DASHBOARD BEGAN FORMING CRACKS. WHILE WE INITIALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS A COSMETIC ISSUE, SOON THE DASHBOARD BEGAN MELTING AND STINKING UP THE CAR. WHEN WE BROUGHT IT TO OUR LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP FOR INVESTIGATION (LEXUS OF KENDALL), WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM RECENTLY LAUNCHED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS. WE WERE PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST TO GET A NEW DASHBOARD AND WERE TOLD WE WERE #1 IN FEBRUARY 2016. WE HAVE SOMEHOW MOVED TO #2 ON THEIR LIST AND HAVE SEEN NO PROGRESS ON LEXUS REPLACING OUR DASHBOARD. ADDITIONALLY, IF YOU CALL THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AND ASK TO ORDER ONE THEY CLAIM IT WILL ARRIVE IN 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS. THAT SEEMS UNFAIR. SINCE THE INITIAL OBSERVATION, THE SMELL OF THE CRACKED/MELTED DASH HAS BECOME OVERWHELMING, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S HOT OUT. WE ARE HESITANT TO DRIVE OUR VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THESE FUMES.
MY POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION. I ONLY HAVE 56,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I'M SEEING A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT. THE PROBLEM WAS CAUGHT BEFORE I LOST STEERING CAPABILITY.
2012 POWER STEERING RACK FAILED. LEAKING AT THE RUBBER SEAL BOOT ON RIGHT SIDE UNDER VEHICLE. USED A REBUILT PART TO REPLACE IT. 2015 DECEMBER, POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKED OUT OF FLUID CASING ALL OVER THE GROUND. I PULLED OFF OF THE TOLL RD BECAUSE OF THE NOISE. TOOK IT TO LEXUS AND DIAGNOSED POWER STEERING RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN BECAUSE RUBBER SEAL BOOT IS LEAKING AGAIN. THEY HAVE STOPPED USING REBUILT AND NOW USE NEW KIT TO REPAIR. THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR HALF THE REPAIR. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH LEXUS AND OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES WHICH USE THE SAME PART. IF MY CAR LOSES ALL THE FLUID BEFORE I GET IT REPAIRED, ESPECIALLY IF ON THE FREEWAY THERE COULD BE A FATAL ACCIDENT. LEXUS HAS TAKEN MONTHS TO RETURN MY CALLS IN ORDER TO GET THIS REPAIRED. I FINALLY GO A RETURN CALL FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE ON MAY 4TH. WILL NOT GET ON THE FREEWAY UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED.
THE LIFTGATE ON OUR 2007 LEXUS RX350 HAS A VERY HAZARDOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN PUSHING THE AUTO LIFTGATE BUTTON IN THE CAR TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE IT OPENS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS BUT THEN WITHOUT WARNING WILL START TO SHUT ON ITS OWN. THERE IS NO SAFETY FEATURE THAT KEEPS IF FROM CLOSING EVEN IF YOU ARE STANDING THERE EMPTYING GROCERIES, ETC. BOTH MY SON AND I ALMOST GOT OUR HEADS CRUSHED BY THE LIFTGATE COMING DOWN ON US. THE CAR IS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN IF THE LIFTGATE IS OPENED MANUALLY. WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFTETY CONCERN FOR ANYONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW TO MOVE AWAY BECAUSE THE LIFTGATE WILL COME RIGHT DOWN ON YOUR HEAD.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD WITH NO CARS NEAR BY AND NO OVERPASSES NOR ANYTHING OVER HEAD, I HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD POP. MY SUN ROOF SHATTERED INTO MILLIONS OF PIECES. THE SUN ROOF IS STILL IN TACKED BUT CRACKED. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE CAR. THE SUN ROOF GLASS IS LIFTED VERTICALLY AS THOUGH THE PRESSURE DUE TO THE TEMPERATURE FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THE INSIDE OF THE CAR CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN
MY CAR IS USED TO DROP OFF AND PICK UP CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL AND GROCERY SHOPPING, AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT; HOWEVER, ONE DAY I HAD JUST GOT IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP (MY ADULT SON WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT) AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON MY DASH AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT SHOWS IT IS NOT ON. MY SON WEIGHS ALMOST 200 POUNDS. WE EVEN HAD HIM GET OUT OF THE CAR AND SIT BACK DOWN AGAIN, THINKING THE SEAT DIDN'T REGISTER FOR SOME REASON, BUT NOTHING CHANGED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS IF EVER INVOLVED IN A CRASH, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY TO PROTECT ANY PASSENGER SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT. ALSO, THE DASH OF MY CAR IS CRACKING AND HUGE SPIDER WEB CRACKS HAVE NOW BEGUN TO TAKE OVER THE DASH ON BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE. I KEEP IT GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME SO HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS HAS STARTED HAPPENING EITHER. CAN SEND PHOTOS IF THEY ARE NEEDED, JUST LET ME KNOW.
MY CAR HAS BEEN MOSTLY STATIONARY AND KEPT IN MY GARAGE FOR 3 YEARS. THIS YEAR I EXPERIENCED THE DASHBOARD AND IGNITION AREA MELTING AND CRACKING. I FEEL IT MAY AFFECT THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE AIRBAG. ALSO, I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE MAY BE SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL RELEASE THAT IS NOT HEALTHY TO ME OR MY PASSENGERS. VISIBILITY IS ALSO A PROBLEM SINCE THERE IS A SEVERE GLARE FROM THE DASH ON TO MY WINDSHIELD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS RX350. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE MADE AN ABNORMAL RATTLING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V395000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
OIL COOLER LINE LEAK ENGINE OIL EMPTY
I saw on the internet while I was looking for new mats this year my Lexus RX 350, 2007, vin [XXX] was recalled for the dashboard until May 2017. During 2013 through 2018; my husband left me for my friend; both my sons were shot in different cities; one in Nashville, and one in Denver Colorado. The one in Nashville, was shot 10 times by his roommate who forgot he had a roommate. Fortunately, he turned around so his laptop in his backpack got the bullet which would have killed him. He was left with a dominant disabled arm. He had just come back from Las Vegas working with Jason Aldean as a cameraman and saw the bloody massacre from the shooters. My oldest lives in Denver. He was shot and killed by the police on a domestic call. They overreacted. My ex-husband would not let me come to the funeral or visit the son in Nashville when he was hurt. I was not able to focus on anything else during that time. When I saw the recall on the Internet this year, I called and requested a reprieve. I was turned down. I wrote a letter to Lexus. Again I was turned down. I am [XXX] and [XXX]. I’m still driving my Lexus 2007 and plan to the rest of my life. I didn’t see the mail about the recall of my dashboard, nor anything else for several years. I only have about 94,000 miles on it. Most of my friends want to drive in my car instead of their new ones. When I saw the recall on the Internet this year, I called and requested a reprieve. I was turned down. I wrote a letter to Lexus. Again I was turned down. I plead with you to extend the time and allow me to replace my dashboard on the recall. STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER VEHICLE. NO INJURY OR ACCIDENT OCCURRED, BUT I WAS SURPRISED THAT THIS WENT OUT.
WHEN I DRIVE AT ABOVE 60 MPH, THERE IS A RATTLING SOUND. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE ISSUE EVEN AFTER REMOVING THE ROOFRACK, THE ROOF INSULATION AND TIGHTENING ALL THE BOLTS. THE LEATHER SEAT MATERIAL IS DISCOLORED YELLOW DUE TO CONTACT WITH SUNSCREEN LOTION. WE WERE NEVER WARNED ABOUT THIS BEFORE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE FOUND MANY FORUMS DISCUSSING THE STAIN PROBLEM ON LEXUS SEATS. WE FEEL THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARNING OR A RECALL, AND THAT LEXUS SHOULD RE-DYE THE SEATS AT NO CHARGE, AT LEAST ONCE, ISSUING THE WARNING AT THAT TIME. *TR
THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO FLASH ON AND OFF INDICATING A MALFUNCTION IN THE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN ANY COLLISION TO TRIGGER DEPLOYMENT. BUT THE MALFUNCTION INDICATES A PROBLEM ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND OR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG.
