THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT FRACTURED. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT CONFIRMED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT HAD FRACTURED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V359001 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT). HE WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT BOTHER TO ENTER THE VIN INTO THE SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE LOWER BALL JOINTS IS $360 FOR EACH SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BALL JOINT BOLTS SHEERED OFF. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, WHICH LEADS FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE MOTOR, COMPLETELY FELL APART. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. SHE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE COMPONENT, THE ENTIRE UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. IN ADDITION THE CONTACT HEARD THE SOUND OF GLASS CRACKING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW. SHE STATED THAT THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. AS A RESULT, THE REPLACER UNIT OF THE AUTOMATIC WINDOWS UNIT WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE COIL THAT LEADS TO THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 110,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

SEVERAL ENGINE MISFIRES CAUSED BY LEAKING OIL. COIL PACKS, BOOTS, SPARK PLUGS, AND THE IGNITION SWITCH HAVE BEEN REPLACED. ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WE HAVE FIXED THE REAR AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS WHICH FELL IN THE WINDOW TRACKS, THE TRUNK RELEASE WAS REPAIRED, THE REAR VIEW MIRROR SHOOK WHEN DRIVING AND THE BRAKES ARE STILL SQUEAKING SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. *TR

TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS - GEARS ARE HARD TO SHIFT WHILE DRIVING, GEARS TAKE LONG TIME TO SWITCH BETWEEN P, D, R TRANSMISSION HISITATED TO SWITCH GEARS. I LOOKED AND DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND SAW ALOT OF LINCOLN LS OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS NOT RIGHT, THAT SOMEONE BUYS A HIGH END CAR AND HAS TO FACE PROBLEMS SUCH AS THESE WITHOUT A RECALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WOULD COST TOO MUCH. *AK
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN LS. THE SAFETY RECALL WAS 00V359001CONCERNING LOWER BALL JOINTS. FORD TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL DIDN'T EXIST. HE WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT ON THE RECALL THE NUMBER SHOULD HAVE AN S INSTEAD OF THE LETTER V. THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A METAL ON METAL GRINDING SOUND WHEN THE CONTACT MADE A TURN. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WASN'T MOVING, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. SPEED AND WEATHER WERE NOT FACTORS IN THE FAILURE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE , CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MAKE THE GRINDING SOUND, AND ADVISED HIM TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT. THE CONTACT CALLED FORD, WHO STATED THE RECALL WAS NOT RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT FORD WASN'T ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INCIDENT. THE INSURANCE DENIED HER CLAIM BECAUSE THE CAR WAS PART OF A RECALL. WHEN SHE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. ABOUT THIS FAILURE, THEY INFORMED HER THAT HER CAR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. *JB

CAR PULLS AND WEAVES. TOOK CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP. THEY INDICATED RIGHT LOWER BALL JOINT/CONTROL ARM BROKEN. RUINED FRONT TIRES ($177 EACH - LESS THAN 2000 MILES ON THEM). FOUND NHTSA RECALL INFO. TALKED TO LOCAL DEALER AND FORD CORPORATE. BOTH ASSERT THAT MY VIN IS NOT PART OF RECALL 00V359001. I'M PAYING INDEPENDENT SHOP TO REPAIR (AND KEEPING OLD PARTS AND RECEIPTS IN THE EVENT LINCOLN CONFESS TO THEIR PROBLEM.) *JB
2001 LINCOLN LS V8...LOOSE BALL JOINTS CAUSING MAJOR DRIVING PROBLEMS. FIRST COMPLAINT IN NOV. WHEN THE CAR APPEARED TO BE DRIVING ON ICE...I COULDN'T CONTROL THE STEERING. WHEN TOOK TO GET CHECKED OUT, REP STATED RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF. FOUND IT TO BE A LOOSE BALL JOINT. TIGHTENED, AND THEN 2 WEEKS LATER, THE PROBLEM WAS BACK...WORSE...THIS TIME, BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT BALL JOINTS WERE TIGHTENED, AND THIS LASTED TIL I DROVE THE CAR HOME. SAID THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A BIG EXPENSE ON MY PART...NOT TO MENTION THE REPLACEMENT OF BRAKES, ROTORS, AND TIRES. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE VERY LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN DRIVING MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR. *NM

AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING WENT BAD ON THE 2001 LINCOLN LS THIS CLOCK SPRING CONTROLS THE SRS SYSTEM. I DO NOT THINK IT SHOULD BE THE CAR OWNERS PROBLEM TO PAY FOR THIS PART IF IT GOES BAD AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART. *NM

THIS CAR HAS HAD EIGHT INCIDENTS IN TWO YEARS OF COIL PACKS FAILING. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, IE (BRAKES, AIR CONDITIONING ELECTRONICS...) FORD CAN'T GET THE COIL PROBLEMS FIXED. *JB
LOUD WARBLING NOISE COMING FROM BACK END OF VEHICLE. DEALER CHANGED REAR DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING WHICH FIXED SOME OF THE PROBLEMS BUT ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. TOTAL COST $3,000 FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 71,000 MILES ON IT. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A PROPERLY DESIGNED AND BUILT VEHICLE CAN REQUIRE SUCH A SUBSTANTIAL FIX AFTER SO FEW MILES? I MAINTAIN THAT THE DESIGN IS FLAWED, FORCING THE BEARINGS TO SIT NOT SQUARE ON THE WHEELS AND THE GEARS TO GRIND IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM THAT FORD SHOULD FIX. *NM
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION....NO PREVIOUS SIGNS OR SIGNALS OF FAULT. TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC AND TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. LATER FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD . IT NOW HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. *NM
AIR CONDITIONER WILL INTERMITTENTLY START BLOWING HOT AIR ON PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE DUAL CONTROL AIR. AFTER YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF OVER NIGHT (OR LONG PERIOD TIME) THE AIR WILL WORK AGAIN AND THEN 20 TO 40 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE IT WILL START BLOWING HOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS NOT AS COOL AS IT SHOULD BE. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE FORD DEALER OVER 5 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED IT. I GET IT BACK AND THEY THINK THEY HAVE FIXED IT, BUT 2 OR 3 DAYS LATER IT WILL BREAK AGAIN. THEY HAVE CHARGED THE AC & REPLACED THE MAIN CONTROLS IN THE CAB OF THE CAR. MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN 500 MILES! *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE DEFECTIVE. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP THERE WAS A POPPING SOUND. THE NON SERVICE DEALER EXPRESSED THE WHEELS COULD FALL OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE LOWER BALL JOINT RECALL #00V359001 DUE TO THE VIN.
I REPLACED THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR IN SEPTEMBER 2004. TODAY THE LEFT REAR WINDOW REGULAR WENT OUT. I TRANSPORT MY KIDS IN THIS CAR AND THE WINDOW DOES NOT WORK. I JUST GOT THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE SHOP TWO WEEKS AGO. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO REPAIR THIS FAULTY VEHICLE. I FINALLY MADE THE DECISION TO PURCHASE AN AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE. CAN YOU PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL ON THE WINDOW REGULATORS BEFORE MY CHILDREN OR OTHERS GET INJURED. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $400.00. LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE. I BELIEVE MY LEFT BALL JOINT HAS WORN OUT DUE TO INADEQUATE TORQUE OF THE LOWER BALL STUD-ATTACHING NUTS. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BALL JOINT, BUT NOT UNDER SAFETY RECALL 00S39. *NM
WE OWN A 2001 LINCOLN LS - V8. THE ENGINE HAS A COIL ON EACH SPARK PLUG. THE COILS ARE FAILING AT THE RATE OF ONE A MONTH. WHEN THE COILS FAIL THE ENGINE MISFIRES AND YOU HAVE TO FIGHT WITH THE CAR TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL AS IT LURCHES ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS REALLY SEVERE IN AN UPHILL FAILURE. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR WITH COIL FAILURE. THE MECHANIC TELLS ME (AND HAS COIL PARTS TO PROVE IT) THAT THIS IS A SEVERE FORD PROBLEM. I CALLED FORD AND THEY DENY ANY SAFETY ISSUE OR WRONG DOING. I KNOW IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE COILS ARE FAILING BEFORE THE RECOMMENDED SPARK PLUG CHANGE PERIOD!! FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND REPLACE THESE PARTS. THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND PUT THE DRIVER IN AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. ALSO, THE SEAT MEMORY LOCK THAT SETS THE PREFERRED SEATING POSITION OF THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FAILED. THE MEMORY LOCK WAS LOCATED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR. ON 08/22/06, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT BOTH PROBLEMS WERE MANUFACTURER DEFECTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND EXPRESSED THAT A SOLUTION WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10MPH, THE BOLT ON THE LOWER BALL JOINT SHEARED OFF, CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT LEFT TIRE HIT THE FENDER, AND ALSO DAMAGED THE DOOR. THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE POLICE, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO OFFICIAL REPORT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
WE HAVE A 2001 LINCOLN LS SPORT V-8 WITH THE SPORT 17 INCH CHROME WHEELS. THE WHEELS ARE DEFECTIVE. FOR SOME REASON LINCOLN DESIGNED THE RIMS WITH CHROME ON THE INSIDE WHICH OVER TIME, BUBBLES AND CORRODES. IT CONSTANTLY CAUSES THE TIRES TO GO FLAT AND CUTS THEM UP. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE HEARD MANY PEOPLE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THESE SPECIFIC CHROME 17 INCH WHEELS. TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING HIS 2001 LINCOLN LS AT 55 MPH WHEN THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER, CAUSING HIS CAR TO BE MISALIGNED. THIS CAUSED THE BALL JOINTS AND HIS TIRES TO BECOME LOOSE AND DAMAGED. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THESE PROBLEMS THE COST FOR THE VEHICLE'S REPAIR WAS $800.00. THE MISALIGNMENT CAUSED HIS TIRES TO BE WORN UNEVENLY SO THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC THAT DID THE REPAIRS STATED THAT THERE WAS A NARROW RECALL ON VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY A CERTAIN FACILITY. *NM
THE CAR WAS RUNNING OUT OF COOLANT VERY FAST. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. YOU CAN SMELL FUMES COMING THROUGH THE HEATING VENTS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & OIL IS MIXING WITH THE SPARK PLUGS & WITH A WATER MIDST. BOUGHT THE CAR IN 09/2005 WITH 39,000 MILES. ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED AT 67,000 MILES. HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR IN 5 MONTHS. ESTIMATE COST TO REPLACE WITH A USED ENGINE IS $3,794.60. THE DEALER SOLD THIS CAR IN THIS CONDITION. THEY NEED TO RECALL ALL THE LINCOLN LS. *JB
IN AUGUST OF 2005, THE WARRANTY ON MY CAR WAS GOING TO EXPIRE. I TOOK THE LINCOLN LS TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE CAR OVER. I TOLD THEM THAT 2 OF MY WINDOWS WERE MAKING STRANGE NOISES. WHEN I WOULD LOWER OR ROLL UP THE WINDOWS IT MADE A CLICKING SOUND AND THE WINDOWS KIND OF SLAMMED SHUT. THE VERY NEXT WEEK, MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND IT WOULDN'T WORK! IT MADE THIS HORRIBLE GRATING SOUND LIKE THE WINDOW HAD BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IS COST ME ALMOST 400 DOLLARS TO GET THE WINDOW REPAIRED AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THERE HAD BEEN MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOWS ON THE LINCOLN LS'S. I NOW HAVE TWO MORE WINDOWS MAKING THAT SAME CLICKING NOISE AND SLAMMING SHUT WHEN I USE THE WINDOW, SO BASICALLY, I AM UNABLE TO USE THE WINDOWS IN MY CAR BECAUSE I CAN'T FORK OUT 800 DOLLARS TO GET THE WINDOWS FIXED. THE FRONT SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW HAS STARTED FALLING DOWN 1/2 TO INCH EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS USING THE WINDOW. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND A SAFETY ISSUE. IF I WERE IN A WRECK, I HAVE NO ASSURANCE THAT THE WINDOWS WOULD WORK PROPERLY IF I WERE TRAPPED IN MY CAR. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE IN RAINY WEATHER, IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONCENTRATE ON DRIVING WHEN THE WINDOW COMES DOWN AND RAIN IS POURING INTO THE CAR. I HAVE LEATHER SEATS AND RAIN WOULD MESS UP MY SEATS. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE DURING THE SUMMER AND HOT WEATHER- SUFFOCATION COULD OCCUR IF I WERE TRAPPED IN THE CAR! I HAVE READ LITERALLY 100'S OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THE WINDOWS ON THE LINCOLN LS'S. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY A LUXURY CAR- SHOULDN'T LINCOLN BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL SO PEOPLE CAN FEEL SAFE AND USE THEIR CAR FOR THE PURPOSE IT WAS BOUGHT INSTEAD OF HAVING TO KEEP IN IT THE SHOP EVERY 2 OR 3 MONTHS? *NM
I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH WHEN MY FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT CAME APART TEARING MY CARS FENDER OFF AND RUINING MY TIRE AND WHEEL . I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. *JB
TOOK CAR TO SHOP THINKING I HAD AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE, THE ISSUE IS THE LOWER BALL JOINT NUT WAS ALMOST OFF AND CAUSED MUCH DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE, DENTED RIM, ALIGNMENT, HOLE IN SPLASH SHIELD, WORE THE ROTOR, ETC. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN LS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SCRAPING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE. HE FELT THE VEHICLE SHIFT AND FALL TO THE GROUND. HE ALSO NOTICED PIECES OF METAL ON THE GROUND. PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED NEW BALL JOINTS. HOWEVER, THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SINCE THAT TIME. RECALL # 00V359001 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT) WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 LINCOLN LS. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON MARCH 8, 2007 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST RESULTS DETERMINED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING FAILED AND WAS REPLACED ON MARCH 17, 2007. ON MARCH 29, 2007, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MARCH 31, 2007 FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT ON APRIL 4, 2007 HE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND UPON IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY MICHELIN PILOT SPORT MS TIRE 235/45Z/R17 DEVELOPED A BUBBLE ON THE INSIDE WALL OF THE TIRE AND LEAKED AIR. THE TIRE WAS USED UNDER A NORMAL COMUTING ROUTINE AND NEVER PLACED UNDER ANY UNUSUAL STRESS OR ROAD CONDITIONS. IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH THE RECALL OF 255/35ZR20 97Y EXTRA LOAD. I BELIEVE THE 235/45Z/R17 SPORT MS IS ALSO DEFECTIVE AS IT HAS THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS. THE OLD TIRE WAS LEFT AT THE TIRE DEALER AND WAS DISPOSED. A LETTER FROM THE DEALER CONFIRMING THIS CONDITION IS POSSIBLE. *NM

LINCOLN ISSUED A RECALL ON SOME (80,000) 2001 LINCOLN LS VEHICLES, FOR THE LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY THAT IF NOT TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATIONS IT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A CRASH. MY VEHICLE A 2001 LINCOLN LS WAS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL ISSUED. TWO MECHANIC'S FROM NEIL LINCOLN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. & ANOTHER MECHANIC BOTH TOLD ME THAT THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS ISSUED UNDER A RECALL FROM LINCOLN FOR THE 2001 LS. AFTER CONTACTING FORD/LINCOLN & REPORTING THE PROBLEM THEY TOLD THEY COULD NOT LOOK INTO POSSIBLY ISSUING ANOTHER RECALL OR CHANGING TO INCLUDE ANY ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. THE LINCOLN LS WAS PURCHASED JULY 1, 2001. FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN SEPT. 2005. WE WERE TRAVELING BACK FROM COLORADO WHEN WE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS FLOATING. WE MADE IT BACK TO ARIZONA AND TOOK THE CAR TO OUR SERVICE COMPANY. THEY FOUND THAT THE UNDER-TORQUE CONDITION LOOSENED THE LOWER BALL JOINT LOCK NUT. THEY TIGHTENED AND REPAIRED. AT THAT TIME WE EXTENSIVE WEAR ON OUR NEW FRONT TIRES THAT HAD LESS THAN 12000 MILES ON THEM. ON NOV. 11, 2005 I WAS DRIVING, THE LOWER LEFT BALL JOINT COMPLETELY SEVERED FROM THE CAR MAKING THE WHEEL TURNED TO A HORIZONTAL POSITION (SIDEWAYS) DENTING THE LEFT FENDER AND THE CAR DRAGGED TO A STOP. WE THEN FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE THIS PARTICULAR MODEL PRODUCED AT THE WIXOM ASSEMBLY PLANT BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS I LISTED. WE HAVE A TOTAL BILL OF $1,421.69 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, ALSO THE PURCHASE OF TWO TIRES WITH LESS THAN 12000 MILES. THE DAMAGE TO THE TIRES WAS CAUSED BY THE FLOATING AND THE LACK OF STEERING CONTROL. WE, HOWEVER, DID NOT GET A RECALL LETTER BECAUSE THE WINDOW FOR RECALLS HAD CLOSED, BUT THE PROBLEMS WE EXPERIENCED ARE IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL LETTER. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE LINCOLN AND THEY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AT THEIR LEVEL AND THEY SUGGESTED WE CONTACT YOU AND THE FORD MOTOR COMPNY WHICH I DID. ALL TO NO AVAIL. *JB
