2001 LINCOLN LS HAS BAD BALL JOINTS AND FOUND OUT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON CERTAIN VIN #S BUT THEY SAY NOT MINE. *NM
DRIVING TO DRANGO COLORADO WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO WEAVE FROM SIDE TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. TOOK THE CAR TO ASPEN AUTO DOCTOR AUTO REPAIR SHOP, WAS TOLD THAT MY THE BALL JOINT HAD CAME LOOSE FROM THE CONTROL ARM. *NM
WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. ALL REGULATORS ON VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT LEAST ONCE OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS, AND NOW ONE OF THOSE REPLACED PREVIOUSLY IS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AGAIN. FAILURE RENDERS WINDOW COMPLETELY INOPERATIVE. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRONT HEADLAMPS CONTINUE TO BUILD UP MOISTURE/CONDENSATION IN THEM. THESE ITEM HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT LEAST TWICE IN THE LAST 3 YEARS AND ARE IN NEED OF REPLACE YET AGAIN. *NM
I WAS TRAVELING IN MY 2001 LINCOLN LS WHEN I WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE RESULTING IN MY VEHICLE ROLLING LATERALLY AND ALSO END OVER END. MY CAR SUSTAINED A FRONTAL IMPACT SEVERE ENOUGH TO RESULT IN THE STRUCTURAL STEEL BUMPER BEING SPLIT IN TWO AND THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER, RADIATOR AND AIR-CONDITIONING CONDENSER AND ASSOCIATED RADIATOR WALL BEING SMASHED AGAINST THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED SUFFERING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO ALL SIDES OF THE CAR EXCLUDING THE TRUNK LID, BUT INCLUDING THE SEVERANCE OF SEVERAL PARTS INCLUDING THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALTERED STEMMING FROM LANDING ON IT, AFFECTING THE A AND B PILLARS OF THE VEHICLE AND BUCKLING THE ROOF ITSELF. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE AND THE PHYSICAL ADDRESS OF THE REMAINS OF THE CAR SHOULD SOMEONE CHOOSE TO SEE IT. *JB
ASKED THE LINCOLN DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE ROTORS BECAUSE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED THERE IS A PULLING BACK ON THE CAR. THEY DIAGNOSED IT TO BE A DEFECT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS. I SAW THAT THE SAME MODEL/YEAR HAD A RECALL ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS AND FEEL THAT THERE MUST BE THE SAME PROBLEM IN MY VEHICLE (WEBSITE FOUND RECALL ON - HTTP://AUTO-RECALLS.JUSTIA.COM) THEY ALSO FOUND THAT THE AIRBAG MODULES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. FOR A CAR SO YOUNG IN MILEAGE AND NOT USED SO OFTEN THERE SHOULD NOT BE SUCH BIG PROBLEMS WITH IT.*JB
STALLING AT IDLE, ENGINE CODES 171,174 BOTH BANKS LEAN FUEL MIXTURE. REPAIRED AT DEALER $450 FOR PVC HOSE FAILURE. OTHERS HAVE THE SAME FAILURE. *JB
VEHICLE ENGINE KILLED WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT A GREEN LIGHT. WITHOUT POWER STEERING THE CAR DRIFTED INTO THE ONCOMING TURN LANE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY STEER THE CAR BACK INTO MY LANE AND PULL OVER AND STOP. ONCE STOPPED, THE CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART WHEN IN PARK.
I BOUGHT MY 2001 LINCOLN LS IN JULY, 2004 WITH ONLY 19,027 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE BREAKS, WHICH AT TIMES THE PEDAL WILL SLOWLY FALL THROUGH. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO THE DEALER WHILE IT WAS UNDER THE WARRANTY WHO SAID," THERE IS NO PROBLEM." AFTER THAT I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY REPLACING THE BREAKS. THE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER THAT WAS STILL THERE. I WENT INTO ANOTHER LINCOLN DEALER ON 4/07/2005 & COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE GUY. I LEFT HIM THE VEHICLE THERE BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOTHER ISSUE OTHER THAN THE BRAKES. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS FIXED, BUT WHEN HE TURNED THE VEHICLE ON IN THE MORNING & STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO REVERSE IT, SURE ENOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL RIGHT THROUGH. THE DEALER CONTACTED ME & SAID, " I CAN DEFINITELY SEE YOUR PROBLEM NOW." I WAS HAPPY THAT THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM, WHICH WAS THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM, WHICH CAME BACK, & THE UPSETTING THING WAS THAT MY WARRANTY HAS RAN OUT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2005 TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE DID SEE A LEAK BETWEEN THE BRAKE FLUID FILLER & THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, & HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IT'S THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ANYMORE & NOW IT MIGHT BE THE WHOLE SYSTEM. I CONTACTED THE LINCOLN HEAD QUARTERS TO COME TO THE SOLUTION BECAUSE ONE, MY WARRANTY IS OUT, & THE OTHER IS THAT THE LINCOLN DEALER THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED IS OUT OF BUSINESS. THEY HAVE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER FOR FREE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE MASTER CYLINDER IS COVERED UNDER A 12 MONTH. WARRANTY, WHICH WAS A LIE BECAUSE THE FORD DEALER CHARGED ME FOR THE INSPECTION DUE TO THEM STATING, "THERE IS NO PROBLEMS FOUND HERE." THE SERVICE GUY DID SEE SOMETHING IN THE BRAKE FLUID FLOATING, WHICH THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS AND IF IT HAS CONTAMINATED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I DID PAY $27.00 DOLLARS FOR A NON-CONTAMINATED BOTTLE FOR THE SAMPLE OF THE BRAKE FLUID TO BE SENT OUT TO THE LAB FOR TESTING. *JB
INTERMITTENTLY THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE WHEN THE DRIVER REMOVES FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO APPLY BRAKES FOR STOPPING. ENGINE SURGES/RPMS INCREASE. OWNER DROVE PASSED STOP SIGN THROUGH CROSS WALK. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED, BUT THE CAUSE WAS STILL UNDETERMINED. *AK
INTAKE MANIFOLD CRACKED. OWNER WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION UNDER THE HOOD, AND A PUFF OF SMOKE THAT SMELLED LIKE FIRE WORKS CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO DISCOVERED A CRACKED INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND 4 FUEL INJECTOR WAS NOT WORKING. *AK *NM
NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 00V359000; FORD ISSUED A FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT RECALL. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN, BUT HAD THE LOWER BALL JOINTS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE, AND WAS INFORMED BY A MECHANIC THAT THE WHEELS COULD FALL OFF. *AK
TRANSMISSION FIRST BEGAN SHIFTING ROUGHLY INTO REVERSE, JERKING THE VEHICLE BACKWARD. THEN THE TRANSMISSION ALSO BEGAN ROUGH SHIFTS INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED BY DEALER 8/04. PROBLEM BEGAN TO OCCUR EVEN WORSE. RETURNED TO DEALER AND DEALER PERFORMED ENGINE DIAGNOSITC, THEN DID THIS: "AC BDY ASY-TRANS SOL SHFT&THROT" PLUS SOME EXTRAS.
WHILE DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT THE DRIVERS VISION WAS IMPAIRED. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. *TC
1) NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V359001, I PURCHASED A 2001 LINCOLN LS IN JUNE OF THIS YR 2004. A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE WHERE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER WARANTY, I SUFFERED STEERING ISSUES THAT WAS UNSAFE FOR DRIVING THE VEHICLE PULLING ERRATICALLY ECT. I TOOK THE CAR TO HOLMAN LINCOLN MERCURY OF POMPANO FL, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED MY PROBLEM BEING THE SUSPENSION FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I PAYED FOR THE REPAIR NOT KNOWING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART IN THE PAST. NOW JUST 3 DAYS AGO I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WAS GETTING LOOSE ONCE AGAIN AND HAD A MECHANIC DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. TURNS OUT TO BE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, BUT INSTEAD OF IT BEING ON THE LEFT SIDE IT HAS NOW OCCURED ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I WENT HOME TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE WITH THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR WITH THIS ISSUE. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN BY PRIOR OWNER AND WAS RELASED FIXED SUPPOSIDLY. IT WAS SAID THAT THE VEHICLES NUTS WHERE RE TIGHTNED. NOW THAT I OWN THE VEHICLE THIS DEFECT HAS COST BE OVER 1000 DOLLARS IN DAMAGES, AND I WOULD LIKE A REFUND DUE TO IT BEING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. HOLMAN LINCOLN MERCURY OF POMPANO WILL NOT DO SO, SO NOW I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. IT WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BOTH FRONTAL LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER HEARD A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WARPING. *AK
WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR WAITING AT A STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY PICKS UP ACCELERATION TO 4-5 THOUSAND RPM - THIS OVERPOWERS THE BREAK POWER AND THE VEHICLE FORCES ITSELF AHEAD OR INTO TRAFFIC - ONLY FLIPPING THE GEAR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AVERTED A DISASTER.. THE ACCELERATION CYCLE LASTED 15-20 SECONDS.*AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN CONSUMER REMOVES FOOT FROM GAS PEDAL AT ANY SPEED TO BRAKE THERE IS VIBRATION IN THE GAS PEDAL WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED AGAIN.*AK
I OWN A 2001 LINCOLN LS. IN THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE, THE REAR POWER WINDOW HAS BURNED OUT THREE TIMES, MOST RECENTLY TODAY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FAULTY PART OF THE VEHICLE. ADMITTINGLY, THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME, HOWEVER NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THE FIRST INCIDENT DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP WAS UNDER WARANTY. THE SECOND OCCURENCE WAS SPLIT IN COST THIS PAST AUGUST AND NOW THEY ARE ADVISING THAT THEY REFUSE TO REPAR, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT IS THE SAME EQUIPMENT. THEY STATED THAT I HAVE EXCEEDED THE 12 MONTHS/12,00 MILES. WHAT CAN I DO? *AK
MY 2001 LINCOLN LS V8 HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES, WAY MORE THAN I CAN REMEMBER. THERE HAS BEEN ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION COILS, HYDRAULIC FANS, STARTER, COIL PADS. THIS HAS ALL BEEN REPAIRED WITH NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF DOLLARS. I CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO KEEP UP WITH THIS CAR. THERE IS CONSTANT MISS FIRES AND BAD SHIFTING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. NO ONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME, SO NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE DEALER REFUSED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS AT THEIR EXPENSE. *JB *SC
I GOT MY CAR IN JAN. OF 2004, SINCE THEN THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN IT MORE THAN I HAVE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, WINDOW REGULATORS KEEP GOING OUT, WINDOWS KEEP GETING OFF TRACK AND MAKING AWFUL NOISES, WINDOWS SLAM SHUT, AND THE BRAKES ARE SQUEALING BUT THE DEALSHIP CAN NEVER FIND THE PROBLEM AND WHEN THEY DO 'FIX' THESE PROBLEMS, A FEW WEEKS LATER THEY ARE BROKE AGAIN. I CANT KEEP TAKING OFF WORK FOR THIS AND THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM WONT HELP ME, AND BECAUSE IT IS A USED CAR, THERE ARE NO LEMON LAWS. WHAT CAN I DO? HELP!!! *AK
LOWER BALL JOINT WORE OUT PREMATURELY. A RECALL WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
LINCOLN LS, 2001 MODEL, VIN LAST DIGIITS, 701318. REAR SEATS WILL NOT PROPERLY LATCH CAUSING THE SEATS TO FOLD DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. LINCOLN WILL NOT REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY. LINCOLN SAYS THE LATCHES ARE NOT DEFECTIVE! SEE ARTICLE IN WWW.AJC.COM, MARCH 2004....JURY AWARDS $42 MILLION TO FAMILY OF GIRL!
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND CONTACTED A MECHANIC FROM THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION. *AK WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THERE WOULD BE A DISTINCT GRINDING OR VIBRATING FEELING. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND WHEN THE CONSUMER IMMEDIATELY TOOK HIS FOOT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF WERE FREE WHEELING FOR AN INSTANT BEFORE THE BRAKES SEEMED TO TAKE HOLD. A BLACK BOX WAS ADDED TO HE VEHICLE TO TRACK THE PROBLEM BUT WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE AS THE DEALER CHECKED THE RESULTS. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE FIXED UNLESS THEY EXPERIENCED IT AS WELL. THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CABLES WERE REPLACED. THERE WOULD BE NO FURTHER REPAIR ATTEMPTED UNTIL THE PROBLEM COULD BE DUPLICATED BY THE FORD DEALER. THE CONSUMER WAS ALSO TOLD THAT WHAT HE WAS EXPERIENCING WAS NORMAL AND THAT THERE WAS NO DEFECT. THE BRAKES WOULD BECOME A PROBLEM DURING RAINY WEATHER. *SC *JB
VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS I HAVE HAD THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED TWICE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR ONCE. THE FIRST REAR WINDOW BY FORD WHILE UNDER WARRANTY,THE SECOND REAR WINDOW AT 60,000 MILES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER REGULATOR WINDOW AT 70,000 MILES.*AK
THE ELECTRICAL COILS IN THE 2001 LINCOLN LS ARE A MAJOR EXPENSE IMPOSED UPON THE OWNER. THESE COILD ARE OVER 280.00 TO REPLACE AND USUALLY AFTER REPLACING ONE ANOTHER SOON GOES OUT OR GOES OUT ON THE SAME DAY AS THE REPLACED COIL. ALLL OF THE MECHANICS AT LINCOLN ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SAID ITS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I HAVE REPLACED 4 OF THE 8 AS TODAY AND WILL BE REPLACING ANOTHER ONE THIS WEEK. I THINK CONSUMERS MUST BE MADE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I AM IN THE MARKET FOR PURCHASING A NEW CAR AND I MUS SAY, "BUYER BEWARE OF LINCOLN-MERCURY. HATS OFF TO CHRYLSLER, THE DEALER OF ALL OF MY PREVIOUS CARS. I HAD NO MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH NONE OF THE 3 CARS I PURCHASED FROM THEM. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE RTHIS IS HAPPENING TO ME AND I AM SURE SO MANY OTHER CONSUMERS OF THIS VERY PRETTY CAR THAT'S A LEMON!. *AK
ROAD WHEEL LUG NUT DESIGN USED ON CERTAIN MY2001 LINCOLN LS SEDANS IS DIMENSIONALLY UNSTABLE, GROWING IN SIZE OVER TIME AND MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE AND/OR SECURE WITH THE CORRECT WHEEL BRACE OR SOCKET TOOL. FOLLOWING A PUNCTURE AND SUBSEQUENT REPLACEMENT OF 4 TIRES ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO NORMAL WEAR, ALL 20 NUTS ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED AS THEY COULD ONLY BE REMOVED BY FORCE. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT TSB EXISTS FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NO FORMAL RECALL. NOTE: 1 SAMPLE OF DEFECTIVE NUT AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. *JB
OVER THE PAST 13 MONTHS, WE HAD HAD A TOTAL OF SIX VERY LOW OR FLAT TIRES, INCLUDING ONE BLOWOUT ON AN INTERSTATE. NO DEFECTS WERE FOUND IN THE TIRES (PUNCTURES). WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BLOWOUT, ALL TIRES WERE ABLE TO BE REINFLATED. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TWO SOURCES (A FORD DEALERSHIP AND A TIRE DEALERSHIP) THAT THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ALLOY WHEELS THAT CAUSES THE TIRE SEAL TO BREAK. THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES TO-DATE, BUT THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH THIS IS HAPPENING IS A CONCERN. THE LAST FLAT TIRE OCCURRED YESTERDAY (01/13/2004).*AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE . NO IMPACT WAS REPORTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
INTERMITTENTLY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. DEALER REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. ALSO, THE NEW MOTOR MALFUNCTIONED. MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
DT: THIS VEHICLE HAS 8 COILS IN IT. ITS HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERS 8 TIMES. THEY REPLACED THE COILS IN THE ENGINE #'S 4,6,7, AND 2. THIS FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2003. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY SAY NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS WAS NOT A DEPENDABLE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT IF ONE COIL FAILED, THEY ALL WILL FAIL. *AK
: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT. I TOOK MY CAR INTO VELDE LINCOLN MERCURY IN PEORIA, ILL. 7/11/03 AND TOLD THEM THAT MY CAR WAS FISH TAILING IN THE FRONT. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW TIRES, THEY DID NOT TELL ME THAT ANYTHING ELSE WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR.I WAS GETTING NEW TIRES AND THE PLACE WHERE I PUT THE TIRES ON TOLD ME THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS LOOSE. THEY TIGHTENED IT UP, I HAD AN APPOINTMENT IN TWO DAYS WITH LINCOLN IN SPRINGFIELD, ILL. TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THE NEXT NIGHT THE BALL JOINT BROKE WHILE I WAS GOING 50 MILES AN HOUR. I REINJURED MY BACK.*AK
WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. BOTH FEET WERE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN. *AK THE TIRES WERE SPINNING WHILE THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. MECHANIC CHECKED FOR PEDAL BINDING AND RAN ALL SELF TEST. THERE WERE NO TROUBLE CODES STORED IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS ROAD TESTED IN WARM AND COLD CONDITIONS. THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP HAD WATER INSIDE IT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. *PH *NLM
WHEN APPROACHING A STOP THE BRAKES DO NOT HOLD. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND NO COMMON DENOMINATORS CAN BE FOUND. THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN WHEN BRAKING, BUT ON OCCASION THE CAR WILL CONTINUE MOVING EVEN WHEN BRAKES ARE FULLY APPLIED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RUN STOP SIGNS, INTERSECTIONS, AND REAR ENDING OTHER VEHICLES. MY HEADLIGHTS FILL UP WITH WATER WHENEVER ANY WATER IS PRESENT. IF IT RAINS OR I WASH THE CAR BOTH HEADLIGHTS LEAK WATER IN THE ASSEMBLY. I HAVE HAD AS MUCH AS 1/2" OF WATER IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES. I HAVE TO REMOVE THE ASSEMBLIES AND DRAIN THE WATER THROUGH THE BULB SOCKET HOLES THEN REINSTALL THEM. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE IS A POSSIBLITY OF SOMEONE HAVING WATER IN THE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES AND WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THEY COULD HIT A BUMP AND CAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS TO FAIL BECAUSE OF THE WATER SPLASHING ON THE BULBS AND BURNING OUT, I HAD THIS EXPERIENCE, WITH ONE BULB. SOMEONE IS GOING TO A FATAL CRASH BECAUSE OF THIS, IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. LINCOLN CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO PAY TO HAVE THEIR POOR DESIGN REPLACED WITH NEW LENSES AS RECOMMENDED BY MY DEALER.*AK

WHILE DRIVING THE HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. *NLM THE SEAT BELTS WOULD BIND AND DID NOT RETRACT, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED (ACROSS) DUE TO STRESS AND WAS REPLACED, THE VEHICLE LOCK SYSTEM WAS REPLACED TWICE, THE FRONT HEADLAMP WAS REPLACED TWICE DUE TO CONDENSATION, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM FAILED AND WAS REPLACED AS WELL. *SCC *JB
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN THE RAIN. *NLM
DT: THE CAR HAD A NOISE IN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE THAT STARTED 2 WEEKS AFTER THE CAR WAS BOUGHT. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT LEAST 5 TIMES. STILL MAKES NOISE AND SOUNDS AS IF THE WHOLE FRONT IS FALLING APART. CURRENTLY, USING OIL MORE THAN NORMAL, HAS BEEN CHECKED OIL LEAKS AND FOUND NONE. THE ENGINE HAS AN IDLE MISS, AND EVERY TIME STARTING IT HAS WHITE SMOKE, THIS IS BEEN GOING ON SINCE JANUARY 2003. DEALER HAS REPAIRED THE CAR WITH LOTS OF PARTS, BUT IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. AND STILL USING OIL, WHEN DRIVING OVER 60 MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAD TO BE CHANGED 8-9 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER AND DIED OUT. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THIS WAS CAUSED BY WATER GETTING INTO THE ENGINE MOTOR AND BLOWING IT. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS
THE CONSUMERS WASHED THE VEHICLE AND THE NEXT DAY NOTICED THAT WATER WAS BEHIND THE RIGHT HEADLAMP INDICATING THAT IT WAS LEAKING. THEY THEN NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND UNDER WARRANTY, THE CONSUMERS WERE INSTRUCTED TO LEAVE THE HEADLIGHTS ON FOR 15 MINUTES, AND THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER IT DID NOT. THE CONSUMER THEN CALLED FORD TO INFORM THEM THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED AND WANTED FORD TO REPLACE THE HEADLAMP., FORD IN RETURN STATED THAT THEIR POLICY ON THIS PROBLEM WAS TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS NOT REPLACE THE LEAKING HEADLAMP. THE CONSUMER TURNED THE LIGHTS ON AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 45 MINUTES,BUT THERE WAS STILL WATER BEHIND THE HEADLAMP COVER. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE WATER CONDENSATION ON THE HEADLIGHT LAMP COVER WILL REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT THAT IS TRANSMITTED BY THE HEADLIGHT TO THE ROADWAY, LIMITING VISION FOR NIGHT DRIVING. *SCC *NLM
THE CAPS ON THE LUG NUTS ON THE FRONT WHEELS IS STRIPED CAUSING IT TO BEDIFFICULT TO CHANGE THE TIRE. TS
