BOTH REAR WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED. THE REPLACEMENT WINDOW REGULATOR ON THE REAR LEFT FAILED AND RESULTED IN A SHATTERED WINDOW WHICH THEN DAMAGED THE DOOR PAINT. SHODDY REPAIR WORK THEN LED TO FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE PAINT AND FINISH. THE FAULTY WINDOW REGULATORS APPEAR TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM, SINCE I KNOW OF ANOTHER LS OWNER WITH THE SAME CHRONIC PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM AT THE WRONG TIME OR PLACE CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES. DOES NOT GIVE ONE A GOOD FEELING ABOUT WHEN THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. THE FIX APPLIED DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY BETTER THATN THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT THAT FAILED. FORD NEEDS TO DEVELOP A SOLID FIX FOR THIS LUXURY VEHICLE WITH WINDOWS THAT DO NOT OPERATE PROPERLY.*AK
VEHICLE LOST STEERING AND WENT INTO AN UNCONTROLABLE SKID. TOTAL VEHICLE'S ROTATION WAS GREATER THAN 360 DEGREES. CROSSED THREE LANES OF INTERSTATE TWICE BEFORE CONTACT WITH CONCRETE HIGHWAY BARRIER. INSURANCE HAS CONDUCTED AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION AND DETERMINED THAT STEERING COMPONENTS SEPARATED CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING. LEFT REAR TIRE FAILED AFTER LOSS OF STEERING.*AKY
VEHICLE WAS REARENDED WHILE AT A STOP, AND PASSENGER'S FRON SEAT DISCONNECTED AT BOTTOM. PASSENGER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.*AK
INSTRUMENT PANEL SHORT CAUSED LIGHTS TO FLICKER OR NOT COME ON AT ALL. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
ONE LUG WAS SHEARED OFF AND THE OTHER LUG NUTS WERE LOOSENED. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE WHEEL TO COMEOFF OF THE CAR AT HIGH SPEED. IT IS UNCLEAR IF THE LUG SHEARED FIRST AND THEN THE REMAINING LUG NUTS LOOSENED OR IF THE LUG NUTS WERE FIRST LOOSE AND THEN THE LUG SHEARED.*AK
I AM A 57 YEAR OLD REGISTERD NURSE. I WENT TO WORK AT SAINT ELIZABETHS HOSPITAL IN BRIGHTON. I STOPPED AT THE PARKING GARAGE ENTRANCE TO GET A PARKING TICKET. WHEN THE ARM WENT AND I BE GAN TO PULL IN TO THE GARAGE THE GAS PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE UNCONTROLABLY . I HAD BOTH FEET PRESSED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TRYING TO STOP THE CAR. IT RACED FORWARD WITH THE WHEELS SCREECHING ON THE GARAGE FLOOR, I WAS TERRIFIED. THE CAR HIT A PARKED CAR WITH SUCH FORCE THAT IT SPUN THE CAR 180 DEGREES AROUND. ALL DURING THIS TIME 5 TO 10 SECONDS AND ABOUT 100 FEET THE ENGINE WAS RACING AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS FLOORED. BOTH MY FEET WERE FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TRYING TO STOP THE CAR. I HOPE SOMEONE TAKES THIS COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY AND MAKES THE DEALER FIX THIS CAR BEFORE I OR SOMEONE ELSE GETS KILLED. I AM TERRIFIED THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN, AND I AM THOUROUGHLY UPSET THAT THIS IS NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY. I SEE FROM YOUR BOARD THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. TS
DURING NORMAL OPERATION, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. ATTEMPTS TO RESTART (10), ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY ON IDLE. DEALER REPROGRAMED PCM WITH LATEST UPDATE.*AK
PURCHASED CAR USED BUT STILL UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT STILL IS NOT FIXED. HAVE ASKED FOR THE DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE TO LOOK AT THE CAR TO EITHER REPLACE OR REFUND MY MONEY. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO DO SO. ALSO I WAS IN A LOANER LS WHICH WAS A 2002 MODEL THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON FOR PERIODS OF TIMES. I SUSPECT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THERE WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR.*AK
VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON DRIVER'S SIDE AND FORCED INTO GUARDRAIL STRAIGHT ON. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 55MPH ON HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEARLERSHIP. DEALERSHIP MECHANIC TOLD HER THAT SHE NEEDED TO REPLACE ALTERNATOR.*AK *TT
ENGINE STALLED DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL BEFORE TRAVELING INTO A DITCH. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT ALTERNATOR FAILED WHICH RESULTED IN STALLING OF ENGINE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *NOTE: ENGINE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 2001 DUE TO AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO SPEEDS OF 60 MPH AND IDLES OF 3000 RPM BEFORE CONSUMER FINALLY SHUT VEHICLE OFF. THIS HAPPENED WHEN CONSUMER WAS IN TRAFFIC AND STARTED TO MOVE. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK *TT
WHEN AT A STOP AND BRAKE APPLIED, ENGINE WILL REV, AND REAR WHEELS SPINNED FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER, BUT NO CAUSE WAS FOUND. *AK
VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS WATER IN STREET. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
2001 LINCOLN LS HAD AN AIR VENT FACING THE WRONG WAY CAUSING WATER TO ENTER INTO THE TRUNK.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE CD PLAYER MALFUNCTIONED, FRONT ROTORS WERE BELOW SPECIFICATIONS AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED ON, FRESH GASOLINE WAS SMELLED, THE VEHICLE WOULD TAKE 5 SECONDS TO CRANK BEFORE IT TURNED OVER, SLIPPING WAS FELT IN THE FRONT END, THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON AND HAD GONE OFF WHEN THE SPEED WAS DECREASED BELOW 60 MPH, THE #4 COIL HAD GONE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND ON ANOTHER OCCASION A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD UNDER THE HOOD ALONG WITH WHITE SMOKE DUE TO A CRACKED INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE BRAKE PADS HAD ABOUT 2K MILES LEFT ON THEM. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. *SC *JB
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES STALLING AND AT TIMES WILL NOT START, DEALER CAN NOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *SLC
WHILE IN TRAFFIC WITH FOOT ON BRAKE RPMS WENT TO 2000, CONSUMER COULD FEEL CAR PULLING FORWARD. CONSUMER HAD TO SHIFT CAR IN PARK. TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE CAUSE WAS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANYFURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
THE BRAKES ON THE CAR FAILED THREE TIMES AND WOULD NOT STOP. EACH TIME WE WERE TRAVELING LESS THAN 20 MPH.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR SHIMMIES AND SHAKES OVER BUMPS BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT. REAR VIEW MIRROR DOES THE SAME AND IS VERY DISTRACTING. I AM BEING TOLD THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE WITH THIS CAR, AND I HAVE OWNED LINCOLN CONTINENTALS SINCE 1984 AND NONE HAVE DONE THIS ,AND ALSO I HAVE A FORD EXPLORER WHICH DOES NOT DO THIS ON THE SAME ROADS.*AK
INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS DEFECTIVE. RPMS AND SPEED GAUGES WOULD START TURNING/ RADIO SUDDENLY SHUT OFF, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL FROM TIME TO TIME. *AK
CONSUMER IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES. BRAKES ARE MAKING IT HARD TO SLOW DOWN VEHICLE, AND THERE IS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS FREQUENTLY , BUT TENDS TO RESET ITSELF . WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE PROBLEM DOESN'T EXIST UNTIL AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS LEFT THE SERVICE SHOP. WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS THE SECURITY LED FLASHES CONSTANTLY WHILE TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE. TWO ERRORS APPEAR IN THE MESSAGE CTR #1 CHECK ADVANCE TRACK AND #2 GEAR SELECT TRACK ERROR.
DURING MY 2ND OIL/FILTER CHANGE, THE MECHANIC DECOVERED OIL ON THE COMPRESSOR. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON TUES 05/29/01. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RIGHT HEAD GASKET WAS LEAKING AND THAT LINCOLN WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE W/ NEW ENGINE, BECAUSE THAT WAS THE POLICY OF LINCOLN. WHEN I PICKED MY CAR UP ON 06/13/01, MUCH TO MY SURPRISE THE TICKET INDICATED A "REMANUFACTURED" ENGINE. I'M WONDERING HOW MANY MILES, ETC THIS ENGINE HAS ON IT???
HOLDS WATER FORD REFUSES TO FIX DESPITE WARRENTY. DT
2001 LINCOLN LS--FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL- THERE WAS ALOT OF SQUEAKING NOISES COMING FROM THE WHEEL BEFORE INCIDENT OCCURRED. YESTERDAY, GOING THROUGH A DRIVE-THRU, I HEARD A POP. I GOT OUT AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE FENDER WAS RESTING ON THE TIRE. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND AS HE WAS TRYING TO PUT THE CAR ON THE TOW TRUCK, HE SHOWED ME THE DAMAGE. THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM TO THE WHEEL CAME OFF. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS FOR ME, AND CONTACT ME WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING OUT! THX *TR

VEHICLE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, GEARSHIFT PANEL LIGHTS WENT OUT/ BACK UP LIGHT WERE NOT WORKING. *AK CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DRIFTED ACROSS THE CENTER LANE AND SIDESWIPED 2 VEHICLES, THERE WERE NO INJURIES, HOWEVER THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE, CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS RELATED TO RECALL 00V359001, PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, CONSUMER HAD ALIGNMENT ISSUES WITH VEHICLE AND HAD THE LOWER BALL JOINT REPLACED. CLOCK SPRING WAS REPLACED AND DEALER HAD TO REPOSITION A DROPPED AIR BAG. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 5 MPH VEHICLE SWERVED ACROSS CENTER LANE, AND SIDE SWIPED ONCOMING TRUCK. DAMAGE WAS $ 7200. AFTER VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED STEERING WHEEL WAS OFF CENTER, ABOUT 45 DEGREES. DEALER THEN ALIGNED FRONT END. 2 WEEKS LATER, WHEEL WENT OFF CENTER OI OTHER DIRECTION BY 45 DEGREES. DEALER THEN FOUND ONE LOWER BALL JOINT MISSING. AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT COMPONENT. CONSUMER DID NOT GET RECALL LETTER , DALER CHECKED VIN, AND THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED. AFTER REPAIR WAS DONE, REPAIR BILL STATED LOWER BALL JOINT WAS LOOSE, NOT MISSING. THEN WHEEL WAS MAKING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNING. DEALER THEN REPLACED CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY AND RESET AIRBAG. CONSUMER FELT INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY MISSING BALL JOINT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE DRIFTED ACROSS CENTER LANE SIDESWIPING A TRUCK AND ANOTHER VEHICLE, RECALL 00V359001 STATES LOWER BALL JOINTS MAY LOOSEN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, HOWEVER CONSUMER'S VIN. WAS NOT INCLUDED BUT ON INVOICE IT STATES THAT LOWER BALL JOINT WAS MISSING, CONSUMER WAS ISSUED A TICKET FOR ACCIDENT, HOWEVER POSSIBLE CAUSE COULD BE RECALL RELATED, PRIOR TO ACCIDENT CONSUMER FELT THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE STEERING, AFTER THE ACCIDENT MANY PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED: LOOSE CONNECTION AT BULB FOR GEAR SHIFT, AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT, MIRROR, AND STEERING WHEEL SETTINGS INTERMITTENTLY FAIL WHILE USING THE REMOTE, AUTOMATIC SENSOR FAILURE, MOISTURE SENSITIVE WIPER DID NOT WORK, AND REVERSE LIGHT BULB FAILED. *SLC

THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE ASHTRAY/LIGHT IS TOO SMALL WHICH CAUSES A SAFETY HAZARD, TO USE THE ASHTRAY THE DRIVER HAS TO TAKE HIS/HER EYES OFF THE ROAD TO FIND IT. NLM

ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR AND SQUEAKING WHEN BRAKING. VEHICLE BEEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THEY TURN THE FRONT ROTORS TWICE ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASION WHICH THE PROBLEM HAD RECURRED AND NOW THE FRONT ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED.
