TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE PEDAL FEEL IS SPONGY AND THE PEDAL TRAVEL IS EXCESSIVE (3-4") BEFORE THE BRAKES START TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. BRAKES WERE FULLY BLED TO ENSURE OLD FLUID WITH TOO MUCH MOISTURE IN IT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. THIS ACTION DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. JUST HAD A FORD DEALER REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER--THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AFTER CONDUCTING A WEB SEARCH AND TALKING WITH THE DEALER MORE, APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM IS A VALVE STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION ON THE ABS SYSTEM'S HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A BIT OF A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUSION, MKZ AND MILAN VEHICLES OVER NUMEROUS YEARS. THERE ALSO APPEARS TO BE AN UPDATED PART NUMBER FOR THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THIS CONDITION IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE BRAKES DO NOT PROPERLY SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED.

THE MANUFACTRER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKATA RECALL, FORD SAID THEY WOULD ADDRESS THE PROBLEM THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2018. ALWAYS THE CLAIM OF NO PARTS THE QUESTION WILL FORD EVER FIX THIS PROBLEM? CAR CAN NOT BE USED FOR MULTIPLE PASSENGERS. DEALERS HAVE NOT HAD ANY PARTS TO DATE 2/18/2019. GOVERNMENT SHOULD RESTRICT ALL NEW CAR SALES UNTIL A FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM WITH ACTUAL REPAIRS ARE UNDERWAY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN HOW LONG IT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FULLY STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. GENTLEMEN, I OWN A 2007 LINCOLN MKZ WITH 68,750 MILES ON IT. I PUT A NEW MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER ON IT ON AUGUST 16, 2015. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED BECAUSE MY BRAKES WERE PERIODICALLY GOING 'SOFT' AFTER HITTING ROUGH PATCHES ON A ROAD, STRIKING WET, UNEVEN MANHOLE COVERS, OR HITTING SLIPPERY CONDITIONS WHICH ACTIVATED THE ABS SYSTEM. SINCE THAT AUGUST INSTALLATION OF A NEW OEM MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER I HAVE HAD THREE MORE INSTANCES WHERE THE BRAKES HAVE GONE MUSHY AFTER VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TO MAKE A QUICK STOP. I'VE COME TO UNDERSTAND THE LIKELY DEFECTIVE PART IS THE HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL COMMON TO THE CARS UNDER INVESTIGATION AS WELL AS ALL OTHERS UTILIZING THIS SAME PART. MY POINT IS THAT IT IS NOT JUST THE 2007-2009 FORD FUSION OR THE MERCURY MILAN (WHICH YOU ARE INVESTIGATING) THAT HAS THESE SUSPECTED DEFECTIVE BRAKE CONDITIONS. MY 2007 LINCOLN MKZ (AND ANY OTHER FORD, MERCURY, OR LINCOLN AUTOMOBILES WHICH USE THIS CAR'S SAME BRAKING SYSTEM) HAS THIS SAME UNSAFE DESIGN. MY LATEST INCIDENT OCCURRED LAST WEEK WHEN A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF MY CAR ON A SNOWY ROAD. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND AVOIDED HIM. THE ABS KICKED IN AND BRAKES HAVE BECAME MUSHY IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER. AFTER TAKING MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS TO THE SOFT BRAKES, THE BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED TO 'NORMAL'. I'M RETURNING TO THE GARAGE FOR A 'FIX' AGAIN. THE SOFT BRAKES CAUSE THE CAR TO TAKE EXTRAORDINARILY ABOVE NORMAL DISTANCES TO STOP. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO REVIEW THE 2007 LINCOLN MKZ FOR SIMILAR DEFECTS TO THAT OF THE MERCURY MILAN AND FORD FUSION. ALTHOUGH YOU ARE REPORTING NO DEATHS CURRENTLY AS A RESULT OF THESE CONDITIONS TO THE MKZ, ONE / MANY ARE IMMINENT. 475,000 CARS ALL POTENTIALLY WITH THIS SAME BRAKE DESIGN ARE UNSAFE. ONE WE KNOW FOR SURE THAT IS CERTAINLY UNSAFE IS THE 2007 LINCOLN MKZ.
MY DEFROST GRILL HAS CRACKED AND BECOME UNDONE AND THE IP BEGAN TO PEEL. THE VEHICLE CAN LO LONGER KEEP FOG CLEAR OR DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD IN COLD WEATHER. ALSO THE HVAC CONTROLS HAVE SUCK IN THE IP AND IT IS HARD TO GET TO THE DEFROST BUTTON WHEN NEEDED FOR VISIBILITY. YELLOW PARTICLES IN THE AIR WHEN IF DEFROST MODE CAUSING OCCUPANTS TO COUGH.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION TWO YEARS AGO. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT FORD LINCOLN PINEWOOD BLVD OF FLORIDA ADVISED THAT PART WAS UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE JULY 2016, BUT STILL NOT FIXED WHEN TIMELINE SHOWS TO BE RECALLED BY MAY 2016 IN KANSAS. THE RECALL NOTICE DOESN'T ACCOMPLISH ANY SAFETY WITHOUT THE FIX!!! FORD CONTENDS CAR IS SAFE TO OPERATE BASED ON TECHNICAL DATA, ADVISING THAT THEY "HAVE NO REPORTS OF ANY EXPLOSIONS IN FORD VEHICLES", AND NHTSA WILL NOT PROVIDE DATA TO PUBLIC ON WHAT CARS HAVE EXPLODED TO ENABLE VERIFICATION BY PUBLIC. THIS IS IN DIRECT CONFLICT WITH THE RECALL NOTICE, WHICH SAYS DEFECT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I PURCHASED TWO OF THESE VEHICLES FROM TWO SEPARATE FORD DEALERS IN KANSAS CITY AREA IN NOVEMBER 2015 WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATIONS OF THE DEFECTS DESPITE NHTSA BEING AWARE OF THESE DEFECTS FOR MANY YEARS PRIOR TO MY PURCHASES. HOW IS THE SAFETY MISSION OF NHTSA BEING MET HERE??? WHY ARE THESE DANGEROUS CARS STILL BEING SOLD WITH NHTSA NOT OBJECTING?
WHILE ENTERING ACCESS RAMP TO HIGHWAY, AT APPROX 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED HARD AND I NOTICED THE TACHOMETER RISE TO 4000RPM AND STAY AT THAT LEVEL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT. I DID MANAGE TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY BUT THE HIGHEST SPEED I COULD GARNER WAS 55MPH ALL THE WHILE THE TACH STAYED AT 4-5000 RPM AND CONTINUED TO RACE. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE NOTICED LEAKING FLUIDS FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND INFORMED THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
TAKATA RECALL THIS IS A 2007, THE AIRBAGS HAVE NOT BEEN AVAILABLE.... I HAVE BEEN FRETTING OVER THIS SINCE FORD MAILED A RECALL PAPER AND SAID THEY WILL CALL WHEN THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE. I HAVE SEVERE ANXIETY AND OTHER MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES THAT STOP ME FROM DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. AS OF TODAY MY 2007 LINCOLN ONLY HAS 23,000 MILES ON IT DUE TO MY RELUCTANCE TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL..... I OWN A 2007 LINCOLN MKZ. I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE JULY 2016 FOR A REPLACEMENT OF THE TAKATA AIRBAG. I GOT A SECOND NOTICE A YEAR LATER 2017 TELLING ME I NEED THE AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED BUT SORRY LINCOLN DOES NOT HAVE IT AGAIN. SO NOW IM GOING TO 3 YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE MY CAR. I HAVE 3 GRANDCHILDREN THAT I HAVE FULL CUSTODY OF. I CANNOT USE MY CAR BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF POSSIBLE DEATH OR DISFIGUREMENT DUE TO THE FAULTY TAKATA AIRBAG. I WAS TOLD NOT TO USE THE CAR IN WHICH I HAVE NOT...I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MAY 2015. FROM A FLORIDA FORD DEALER, I FEEL THE CAR WAS MISREPRESENTED TO ME, AS THE TAKATA DANGERS WERE NOT DISCLOSED TO ME, AND I FEEL THE CAR SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SOLD WITHOUT FIRST HAVING THE AIRBAG REPLACED. I THINK THAT TWO AND A HALF YEARS IS QUITE EXCESSIVE TO REPLACE AN AIRBAG THAT CARRIES SO MUCH DANGER AND LIABILITY ON THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER SIDE. I INTEND TO RETAIN COUNSEL TO HELP RESOLVE THE SITUATION. THANK YOU
LINCOLN MKZ 2007 AIRBAG MODULAR AND SENSORS GONE BAD AND AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. CAR WAS CHECKED FOR THE PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $1500 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAR PARTS HAVE CONTINUOUSLY FAIL ON THIS PARTICULAR CAR PANELS ON BOTH FRONT DOOR HAVE CRACKED, DRIVES SIDE HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BY DEALER. WAS TOLD THAT IF I REPLACE DOOR PANEL I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE DOOR RATHER THAN JUST A PANEL, HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR REELS ON THE CAR, TIRES CONSTANTLY HAVE TO BE CHECKED FOR LOW AIR PRESSURE IN TIRES, DASHBOARD HAS POPPED LOOSE AT VENT IN TOP OF DASHBOARD AND WAS TOLD BY DEALER IT WOULD COST OVER $2000 TO REPAIR. THIS CAR IS SUPPOSE TO BE ONE OF LINCOLN'S BEST VEHICLES AND THE PARTS ON THIS CAR ARE NOT TOP QUALITY. CAR IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEM. CAR WAS POORLY BUILT AND IT IS A SHAME THAT LINCOLN WILL NOT STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND ACKNOWLEDGE ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I AM A VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER AND AT THIS POINT WOULD NOT CONSIDER BUYING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE LINCOLN FAMILY. WHAT A SHAME THAT YOU PAY SO MUCH FOR A VEHICLE AND GET THIS KIND OF QUALITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE; HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND COILS WENT BAD. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER. WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB 14-0059) ON 2007-2008 LINCOLN MKZ'S. I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN # WAS NOT ONE OF THE PROBLEM CARS COVERED. MY CAR IS A 2007 LINCOLN MKZ I FEEL THAT LINCOLN IS IN ERROR AND I SHOULD BE COVERED FULLY FOR REPAIR. *TR
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH LOW TIRES. THEY ARE CONSTANTLY GOING LOW/FLAT. ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO I HAD ONE TIRE COME COMPLETELY OFF MY RIM. FROM WHAT I AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE RIMS HAVE TO BE SHAVED DOWN AND THEN RE SEALED. I JUST BOUGHT NEW TIRES LESS THEN A YEAR AGO AND ALREADY IN NEED OF NEW ONES BECAUSE THE TREAD IS WORN OUT FOR HAVING INCONSISTANT AIR IN THEM WITH THEM CONTINUALLY GOING LOW! IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS BUT MORE FREQUENTLY WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS.

AIR BAG RECALL.THE FRONT PASSENGER TAKATA AIRBAG'S INFLATORS CONTAIN AN EXPLOSIVE CHEMICAL THAT CAN CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO RUPTURE, ESPECIALLY IN WARM, HUMID CLIMATES. REPAIR PENDING AVAILABILITY OF PART. TAKING AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPLACEMENT.
GOT IN CAR AFTER STOPPING AT GROCERY STORE AND SMELLED GAS, THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE FROM A NEARBY GAS STATION. GOT HOME AND PARKED CAR IN GARAGE AND ABOUT AN HOUR LATER WENT IN GARAGE TO TAKE OUT TRASH. GARAGE HAD HEAVY SMELL OF GASOLINE. OPENED GARAGE DOOR, PARKED CAR OUTSIDE AND GASOLINE SMELL IN GARAGE WENT AWAY. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER AND CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A SPLIT/LEAKING FUEL RAIL ON TOP OF ENGINE. HAD TO HAVE METAL FUEL RAIL REPLACED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS ON SOME OCCASIONS, THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE UNINTENDED ACCELERATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14E028000 (EQUIPMENT). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO (IN MAY, 2014), WHILE IN THE PARKED POSITION AND IN A PARKING SPACE, NO FOOT ON BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR, MY 2007 LINCOLN MKZ (61,000 MILES) ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP AND BEGAN TO THRUST FORWARD. I IMMEDIATELY HIT MY BRAKE HARD, WHICH STOPPED THE CAR PRIOR TO HITTING THE CURB OR OTHER OBSTACLES; HOWEVER, HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY QUICK REFLEX, I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED! THERE WAS A CURB, A TRASH CAN, AND A BUILDING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME, AND HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP THE CAR, THERE'S NO DOUBT I WOULD HAVE PLOWED STRAIGHT THRU ALL! I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE, BUT FOUND NO RECALLS EXCEPT ON FLOOR MATS THAT GET STUCK. I DON'T HAVE THE FACTORY INSTALLED FLOOR MATS IN MY CAR AND DOUBT THAT THIS IS MY PROBLEM. I DID FIND A FEW SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE RACING, SURGING, ACCELERATING ENGINE ISSUES OCCURRING WITH THIS MAKE & MODEL. I PRINTED OUT THESE COMPLAINTS AND TOOK TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY RESEARCHED IT AS WELL AND FOUND NO RECALLS AND OF COURSE THEY OFFERED TO CHECK OUT THE CAR, INQUIRING ABOUT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, IF ANY. I'VE SINCE HAD A FEW INCIDENCES OF MINOR UNPROVOKED ENGINE RACING WHILE DRIVING THAT DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE TOO CRITICAL; HOWEVER, I HAVE THIS SITUATION ON MY MIND WHILE DRIVING AND THE THOUGHTS ARE UNSETTLING! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT AS I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR EXPENSIVE REPAIRS! ARE THERE ANY UPDATES ABOUT RECALLS, ETC. MY IGNITION COIL IMPLODED. I REPLACED 6 PLUGS AND ONE COIL, BUT AS THEY WERE GETTING INSTALLED THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THAT THE COMPUTER IN MY CAR WAS NOT GIVING A READING TO THE NEW COIL, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT I NEED A NEW COMPUTER (PCM) THE CAR SHAKES UNDER 50 MPH, STOP LIGHTS, ETC...THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A GLITCH ON MY MODEL CAR BUT THEY WON'T FIX IT UNLESS I PAY $1600 TO GET IT DONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VENT IN THE DASHBOARD BUCKLED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE INTO THE LINCOLN DEALERSHIPS YESTERDAY AND THEY TOOK PICTURES AND STATED THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SEND THEN TO THE MANUFACTURER. I HAD MY 2007 LINCOLN MKZ SINCE 2013 AND I ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY FACTORY WHEELS THAT I BROUGHT FROM A DEALERSHIP WHICH WASN'T EVEN ON THE CARFAX WHEN I BOUGHT NOR THE SALESMAN DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE RIMS HAVING A PROBLEM POKING WHOLE IN ALL 4 TIRES. EVERY 5 DAYS, EVERY 5 DAYS I HAVE TO GO PUMP MY TIRES UP SO THEY WILL NOT BUST. I FIRST NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN I HAD THE ZEPHER, SAME MAKE. I WAS OUT WITH WHO IS MY WIFE NOW, FRONT DRIVER SIDE RIM SHREDDED MY TIRE. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. AND IM STILL TODAY STILL HAVING THIS SAME !!FRUSTRATING PROBLEM!! MY WIFE AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION AFTER A WOMAN, WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP, SIDESWIPED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AHEAD OF US ON A 2-LANE ROAD. IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID A HEAD-ON COLLISION, I SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT. SHE ACCELERATED, TURNED LEFT AND GOT IN FRONT OF US AND WE COLLIDED WITH HE RIGHT FRONT FENDER AT THE WHEEL-WELL. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE FRONT END WAS CRUSHED. I WAS DRIVING AND MY LEFT ARM WAS BROKEN. THE LITTLE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING COLUMN HIT ME IN THE CHEST, BRUISED ME, AND CAUSED SEVERE PAIN. MY WIFE WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. HER SEATBELT WAS SECURELY FASTENED, BUT IT DID NOT HOLD HER IN PLACE AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. ON IMPACT, SHE MET THE AIRBAG HALFWAY AND MOST OF HER RIBS WERE FRACTURED. FOUR (4) OF HER VERTEBRAE WERE FRACTURED, AS WAS HER RIGHT ANKLE. HER LUNGS WERE BRUISED AND ONE WAS PUNCTURED. HER LEFT KNEE HIT THE DASHBOARD AND DROVE HER FEMUR THROUGH HER PELVIS. SHE WAS TAKEN TO UMD SHOCK-TRAUMA CENTER WHERE SHE WAS INTUBATED, SEDATED AND PUT IN TRACTION FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE A 7 HOUR SURGERY TO REBUILD HER HIP AND FEMUR. SHE WAS IN A FULL-TORSO CAST AND USED A WHEELCHAIR FOR >6 WEEKS. SHE IS STILL REBOUNDING FROM THE EFFECTS OF THE INEFFECTIVE SEATBELT, WHICH DID NOT WORK AS DESIGNED.
THE VEHICLE START EXPERIENCING A ROAR COMING FROM THE FRONT END. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT TIRES WERE OUR OF BALANCE AND ALSO NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. THE ALIGNMENT WAS DONE AND WHEELS BALANCED. DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. TOOK BACK TO DEALER WHO STATED WOULD NEED A NEW SET OF TIRES TO CORRECT SITUATION. ADVISED DEALER THAT TIRES WERE ONLY 13 MONTHS OLD THAT I WOULD TAKE TO TIRE STORE WHERE TIRES WERE PURCHASED. TIRE DEALER AGREED TO ADJUST TIRES AND PUT A NEW SET OF FOUR TIRES AND BALANCED AGAIN. NOISE STILL EXISTED AND STARTED TO GET WORSE. WENT BACK TO AUTO DEALER AND EXPLAINED NEW TIRES WERE PUT ON. DEALER DECIDED TO PULL FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLIES TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER FOR PROBLEM. BOTH FRONT WHEELS WERE FOUND TO HAVE BROKEN BEARING SEALS AND BEARINGS WERE CORRODED, ONE ROLLER BEARING WAS MISSING AS WELL. NEW BEARINGS INSTALLED AND PROBLEM SOLVED. FIRST VEHICLE OWNED THAT HAS HAD BEARING PROBLEMS, PARTICULARLY AT 62,000 MILES. OWNED VEHICLES IN THE PAST WITH OVER 200,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD TO HAVE BEARINGS REPLACED. *JB
THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH 1997 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE LINCOLN STARTED ON FIRE. THE FIRE QUICKLY SPREAD TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE INTENSITY AND RAPID SPREAD OF THE FIRE INDICATE GASOLINE FROM THE FUEL TANK WAS NOT CONTAINED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHO STATED THAT THE WINDOW TRAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,143.
WHEN YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN FROM A SPEED OF 30 OR OVER YOU CAN FEEL THE TRANSMISSION KICK. WHEN YOU ARE STOPPING FROM REGULAR ROAD SPEEDS AND OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT IS KICKING. BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE IT IS YOU STOP AND THEN YOU FEEL A BUMP. IT IS NOT NORMAL. FEELS ALMOST LIKE A VERY HARD DOWN SHIFT ONLY BY THAT POINT YOU ARE ALREADY STOPPED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE CHROME HUB CAPS WERE PINCHING THE TIRES, CAUSING AIR TO SEEP OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING ALL FOUR TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CHROME RIMS WERE POKING HOLES IN THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TIRES WERE BOUGHT USED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 184,187. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN.
THE LINCOLN WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER FOR A WHINNING NOISE AND SMELL OF NATURAL GAS WHEN CAR IS COLD. DEALER INDICATED IT WAS NOISE FROM SCORED ROTORS. ON JANUARY 18,2012 SOUND GREW WORSE AND SOUNDED LIKE PARTS WERE GRINDING. TOOK TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER INDICATED THE TRANSFER CASE WAS FAILING, PARTS WERE DISENTEGRATING IN CASE (CALLED IT A PLU). THE RECOMMENDATION WAS NOT TO DRIVE BECAUSE DANGEROUS IF FAILS AND COULD ALSO REQUIRE NEW TRANSMISSION. *TT

WHILE LEAVING WORK FOR THE DAY I NOTICED I HAD A FLAT TIRE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2010. I SPENT $800.00 PURCHASING NEW TIRES AND I HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL FLAT TIRES AFTER THIS.I WAS TOLD BY THE PLACE WHO SOLD ME THE TIRES THAT MY RIMS WERE CORRODED AND THAT THIS WAS COMMON WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I'VE GOTTEN 2 FLAT TIRES SINCE AND I'VE SPENT $200.00 MORE DOLLARS REPLACING TIRES. I HAVE SPENT A TOTAL OF $1000.00 ON TIRES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LINCOLN DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT I COULD SPEND $1,500 ON A NEW SET OF RIMS WHICH IS LUDICROUS. FORD/LINCOLN SHOULD REPLACE ALL RIMS FOR FREE AS A GOODWILL CONSIDERING THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. I EVEN HAD THEM SHAVED DOWN AND CLEANED AND MY TIRES ARE STILL LOOSING AIR PRESSURE AS OF TODAY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATED THAT THE TIRE SIZE SPECIFICATION WAS P215/65/R15 HOWEVER, WHEN THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED THEY INFORMED THE COTNACT THAT THE REQUIRED TIRE SIZE FOR THE MODEL YEAR VEHICLE WAS P225/54/VR17. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED FROM A 3RD PARTY IN MARCH 2010 WITH 46,000 MILES AND WAS UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. WE DISCOVERED THE WHEELS HAD CHROME FLAKING BADLY SOON AFTER PURCHASE, AND ROB SIGHT LINCOLN MERCURY (NOW DBA ROB SIGHT FORD) ONLY AGREED TO REPLACE TWO OF THE WHEELS UNDER WARRANTY CLAIMING IT WAS A COSMETIC ISSUE. SINCE THE CAR HAD BEEN PURCHASED THROUGH ANOTHER DEALER, ROB SIGHT WAS HESITANT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY EVEN ON THE TWO WHEELS THEY DID REPLACE. SUBSEQUENTLY, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED AT LEAST10 FLAT TIRES ON THE REMAINING WHEELS, EVEN AFTER REPLACING ALL FOUR TIRES. CLEARLY THE ORIGINAL FLAKING ISSUE IS FAR MORE THAN COSMETIC, IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. AT A COST OF NEARLY $1,000 EACH TO REPLACE WHEELS, THAT HAS NOT BEEN CONSIDERED AN ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE. WE HAD THE WHEELS REBUILT AT A CAR WHEEL SPECIALIST IN MERRIAM, KS (HUBCAP & WHEEL) AND WHILE THE BEAD SEAL FAILURES IMPROVED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, ADDITIONAL CORROSION HAS RENDERED THE WHEELS INOPERABLE. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES AND THE TEMPTATION IS TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE, WITH THE HOPE THAT SUBSEQUENT TIRE FAILURES DO NOT RESULT IN A FATALITY. THERE CAN BE LITTLE DOUBT THAT MOST OTHER 2007 MKZ OWNERS UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO OWN THIS VEHICLE, AND HAVING RECEIVED THE SAME TREATMENT FROM FORD/LINCOLN THAT WE HAVE, ARE TEMPTED TO DO THE SAME THING. *JS

ENGINE SUDDENLY REVS AND CAR BEGINS TO ACCELERATE, DESPITE APPLICATION OF HARD BRAKE PRESSURE. TO AVOID COLLISION, DRIVER MUST SHIFT TO NEUTRAL OR PARK AND TURN OFF ENGINE. STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER (1) DOWNLOADED AND APPLIED COMPUTERIZED UPDATES, (2) CHANGED BATTERY, (3) REVIEWED ALL ONLINE AND FORD MOCO BULLETINS BUT FOUND NOTHING RELEVANT. PROBLEM IS VERY SERIOUS BUT OCCURS ONLY INTERMITTENTLY & DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE. DRIVER HAS CONTACTED FORD/LINCOLN IN DETROIT AND OPENED A CASE FILE TO RESEARCH & TRACK PROBLEM. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE ON FEB 28, 2010, AT 3:00 PM. CAR TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP ON 03/01. DEALER WILL HAVE REGIONAL FORD ENGINEER EXAMINE VEHICLE. *TR
