DOOR HANDLES (INSIDE) DYSFUNCTIONAL AFTER NORMAL USAGE. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR HANDLES AFTER THEY BOTH QUIT OPENING THE DOORS. NOW BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOORS NEED REPLACED AGAIN. THIS PRESENTS DANGER IN THE EVENT OF NEEDING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE DUE TO ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY. I CAN POTENTIALLY SEE RISK OF DEATH OF ME AND OR MY PASSENGERS DUE TO THIS FAULTY EQUIPMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
2009 LINCOLN MKZ. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIRBAGS FAILURE TO DEPLOY DURING ACCIDENT. *SMD
WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN STEERING WAS LOST AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE CAR WENT INTO THE OPPOSING LANE BUT THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO CARS AT THE LIGHT. AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AGAIN, THE STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. TOOK CAR INTO LINCOLN DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING BUT SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND THERE WAS AN ISSUE COMMUNICATING WITH THE PCM. THE THROTTLE BODY AND PCM WERE BOTH REPLACED. WE HAVE NOT HAD IT OCCUR AGAIN. *TR
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CALLED THE LINCOLN DEALER IN VENTURA COUNTY (OXNARD) AND ALSO THE FORD DEALER IN THOUSAND OAKS AND ASKED TO BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST FOR AN AIR BAG. I HAVE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM EITHER ONE AND THIS HAS BEEN A FEW YEARS AGO.
I OWN A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ WITH ONLY 22,067 MILES ON IT AND THE ELECTRIC COOLING FAN MODULE WENT OUT. I WAS GOING 10 MPH WHEN STEAM STARTED COMING OUT FROM RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF HOOD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP (ON A SUNDAY AND 200 MILES AWAY FROM HOME). WHEN CAR WAS INSPECTED ON SUNDAY, 7/21/13, THE THERMOSTAT AND COOLANT WAS REPLACED. AFTER TESTING, THE CAR STILL OVERHEATED. I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR OVERNIGHT. ON MONDAY, JULY 22, 2013 THE TESTING RESUMED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRIC COOLING FAN MODULE HAD FAILED. REPAIR SHOP HAD TO ORDER PART FROM A LINCOLN DEALER (25 MILES AWAY). THE PART WAS DELIVERED ON TUESDAY, JULY 23, 2013. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THIS PART ($1,583.73) THE CAR WAS TESTED AND AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 24, 2013. ON THURSDAY, JULY 25, 2013, MY NEPHEW DROVE FROM CLOVIS, CA. TO PISMO BEACH, CA. AND PICKED UP MY CAR. I AM 72 YEARS OLD AND HAVE PURCHASED LINCOLN PRODUCTS FOR YEARS AS IT HAS BEEN A RELIABLE PRODUCT FOR ME. I WAS 200 MILES AWAY FROM HOME (CLOVIS, CA.) WHEN THE CAR FAILED. SINCE I AM ON DIALYSIS 3 TIMES A WEEK (MONDAY-WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY), I HAD NO CHOICE BUT THE INCUR THE COST OF A RENTAL VEHICLE TO GET ME BACK HOME FOR MY DIALYSIS CARE ON MONDAY. IT IS VERY DISAPPOINTING TO ME THAT A 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 22,067 MILES ON IT, HAD THIS KIND OF FAILURE. I WOULD NOT EXPECT THAT FROM A LINCOLN PRODUCT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WOULD CONSTANTLY PULL TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED AND REALIGNED THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE CORRECT SPECIFICATIONS. AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,198. UPDATED 08/30/12 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD AND ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT WAS STRUCK BY THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WHICH PUSHED HER BACK INTO THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, HER ANKLE WAS STILL OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED ANKLE BONE AND LOST ENOUGH BLOOD TO SUSTAIN FIVE BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
GREETING....ON TWO PREVIOUS OCCASIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY IT WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE WARNING INDICATOR/LIGHT RELATIVE TO DRIVER'S SEAT BELT/AIR BAG. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE MATTER WAS CORRECTED. HOWEVER TODAY 12 OCT. 2014 THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE TECH REPORTED THAT PERSONS RIDING BEHIND THE DRIVER DID/MAYBE CAUSED THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE WIRING HARNESS IS EXPOSED. THE SECOND INCIDENT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN I WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM SHOULD NOT OCCUR IN THE FUTURE.THAT LAST REPAIR WAS SOME 10-15 MONTHS AGO. HOWEVER TODAY WHEN THE PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON THERE WERE NO ONE SEATED BEHIND THE DRIVER. IT APPEARS THERE IS/WAS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN CAUSING A POTENTIAL DANGER TO OCCUPANTS OF THIS VEHICLE. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT FAIRWAY LINCOLN SAVANNAH GA. ALSO PLEASE NOTE THE DATES AND MILEAGES ARE APPROXIMATELY. *TR
2009 LINCOLN MKZ. CONSUMER STATES REAR SEAT BELT LOCKED AND WOULD NOT RELEASE *TGW THE SEAT BELT HAD TO BE CUT IN ORDER TO RELEASE THE REAR PASSENGER. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED FOR THE NEXT DAY OR SO, HIS WIFE EXPERIENCED PAIN, FROM WHERE THE SEAT BELT CROSSED HER CHEST. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD, HE WAS INFORMED THE SEAT BELTS WERE CHILD PROOF. UPDATED 11/17/11. *JB
THE CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, WHEN I WENT TO HAVE AIR ADDED, WORKERS NOTICED A BULGE IN THE SIDE WALL. I CONTACTED MICHELIN, I NOTIFIED MICHELIN OF THE PROBLEM AND EXCESS TIRE TREAD WEAR AT 22,99 MILES. THEY HAD ME TAKE THE TIRE TO 2 LOCATIONS FOR INSPECTION (THEY SAID TO RULE OUT ME HITTING A CURB), BOTH PLACES SAID IT DID NOT APPEAR THAT I HAD HIT A CURB. THEY WERE TO CALL BE BACK AND I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM, I HAD TO REPLACE 2 TIRE AND THE OTHER 2 NEED TO BE REPLACED ALSO. ONE OF THE INSPECTORS SAID HE HAD SEEN THE SAME ISSUE ABOUT 2 WEEKS EARLIER WITH SAME TIRE ON SIMILAR CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REQUESTED A BLACK BOX DATA RECORDER TO BE INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEVICE WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE AND IT DETECTED A FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES AND THE THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,195. TAKATA RECALL. IN THE MONTH OF JULY 2016 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY, DATED JULY 2016 STATING "WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE FOR SAFETY RECALL 16S26, THE LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOTIFY YOU VIA MAIL TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DEALER TO HAVE THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACED." TWO PHONE CALLS TO DEALER ON 8/8/16 REGARDING THIS MATTER HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED AS OF 11/9/16. FOUR MONTHS SEEMS TO BE A LONG TIME TO GET THIS ISSUED CORRECTED AS IT PUTS MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY IN HARMS WAY ANYTIME I DRIVE THE CAR WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. HOW LONG IS THIS EXPECTED TO TAKE FOR PARTS TO BE AVAILABLE AND THEN HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR THE DEALER TO HANDLE THE REPLACEMENT? FOUR MONTHS OF A KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD NOT BEING FIXED IS TOO LONG IN MY OPINION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER OR THE INFORMATION CENTER BECAUSE OF THE SUN GLARE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE HAD NO ISSUES READING THE INFORMATION CENTER. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAD THE WINDOWS TINTED TO HELP WITH HIS VISIBILITY. THE TINTING DID NOT HELP WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,542 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,314.
