SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH.
2011 LINCOLN MKZ. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. *SMD THE ABS MODULE WAS REPLACED. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2011 LINCOLN MKZ ON 11/5/2012, IT HAD 13,593 MILES ON IT. DURING MY LAST OIL CHANGE, ON7/28/15, AT 37,440MI, I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD CRACKS AND IN ALL OF THE TIRE WALLS AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES IMMEDIATELY.I BOUGHT THE CAR AT THE DEALER THAT WAS DOING THE OIL CHANGE. WHEN I ARGUED THAT THE TIRE WARRANTY GUIDE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR INDICATED THAT THE TIRES WERE GOOD FOR 60K, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY FAULT THAT THE SIDEWALLS HAD CRACKS, BECAUSE I HAD NOT ROTATED THE TIRES ON A REGULAR BASIS. SO I ASSUMED THAT IT WAS MY FAULT, AND REPLACED MY TIRES ($700). TODAY, WHILE CHECKING A DIFFERENT RECALL, I SAW THE OTHER TIRE COMPLAINT ABOUT MICHELIN'S AND 2011 MKZ'S AND REALIZED IT WAS NOT MY FAULT. I DON'T KNOW IF THE DEALER KNEW ABOUT THIS-I THOUGHT THEY WERE TRYING TO TRICK ME SO I WENT TO AN ACTUAL TIRE COMPANY FOR REPLACEMENT. UNFORTUNATELY- BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW AT THE TIME, I HAD THEM DISCARD THE MICHELIN TIRES AFTER THEY REPLACED THEM. I AM SURE I HAD MICHELIN TIRES, I HAVE THE ORIGINAL TIRE WARRANTY GUIDE AND IT LIST 5 POSSIBILITIES-ALL MICHELIN. I BASED THE SIZE OF THE TIRE ON THE SIZE OF MY REPLACEMENT TIRE. I DO KNOW THAT THE CAR CAME FROM THE HERMOSILLO ASSEMBLY PLANT. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL SALE STICKER. I AM SURE I CAN FIND MORE INFORMATION FROM WHERE I BOUGHT IT IF NEEDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATED. ALSO, WHEN THE BRAKE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BRICK WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JACK DEMMER LINCOLN (21531 MICHIGAN AVE, DEARBORN, MI 48124, (313) 274-8800) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ONLY WAY THE VEHICLE COULD BE DIAGNOSED WAS IF THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE AT THE DEALER. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,273 AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. *TT*JB
STARTED CAR AND STEERING WAS SO HARD I COULD NOT SAFELY STEER THE CAR. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (MARGATE LINCOLN, MARGATE FLORIDA) FOR REPAIR. THEY TOLD ME THE INCIDENT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE MANUFACTURES RECALL AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I HAVE REPAIR COVERAGE SO IT ONLY COST ME 100.00 AND THE PLAN PAID THE REMAINDER. IF I DID NOT HAVE COVERAGE IT WAS GOING TO BE AROUND 2,000.00. I AM 73 AND WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR SAFELY AT ANY SPEED. I AM NOW SCARED OF THE CAR BECAUSE OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN AND THINK IT IS UNSAFE TO ME, MY PASSENGERS AND THE GENERAL DRIVING PUBLIC.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN THE VEHICLE - POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND AFTER 5 TIMES OF TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, AND THEN RESTARTING IT, THE ALERT WOULD GO AWAY AND THE POWER STEERING WOULD BE ACTIVE AGAIN. HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS, HOWEVER IT HAS BEEN A DAILY ISSUE FOR THE LAST WEEK.
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH IN GOOD, DRY, WEATHER, THE DASHBOARD WARNING "SERVICE POWER STEERING" APPEARED THEN THE "ADVANCE TRAC OFF" DASHBOARD SIGNAL APPEARED. THE CAR WAS PARKED, TURNED OFF, THEN WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED ON AGAIN, THE POWER STEERING WAS ABSENT AND THE WARNING LIGHTS REAPPEARED, THIS TIME AS "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". STEERING THE CAR WAS POSSIBLE BUT VERY DIFFICULT. THE POWER STEERING REMAINED NON-FUNCTIONAL UNTIL THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, ALTHOUGH NO WORK OR OUTCOME WAS REPORTED BY THE DEALER. ACTUALLY, THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM BE REPLACED. THE SUGGESTED WORK WAS DECLINED AND WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED, THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AND THE DASHBOARD WARNING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" WAS OFF, ALTHOUGH THE "ADVANCE TRAC OFF" SIGNAL REMAINED UNTIL 4 MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED AND WOULD NOT CLOSE UNTIL AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
AFTER MY WIFE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY SHE LOST ALL OF HER BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE,SHE SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP. SHE MANAGED TO GET IT BACK HOME BY TURNING THE IGNITION ON AND OFF. SHE CALLED AUTONATION FORD AND HAD THEM TOE IT IN. AUTONATION FORD CONFIRMED THAT ALL BRAKING WAS LOST AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. MY SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN AN ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE LIKE THIS. I ASKED THEM WHY AN ABS CONTROL MODULE FAILURE WOULD RESULT IN LOSS OF HYDRAULIC BRAKING. THEY HAD NO ANSWER AND WERE QUITE INDIFFERENT TO THE LOSS IN BRAKING SINCE THEY STATED THAT THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH AN EMERGENCY BRAKE. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???? SINCE THE CAR WAS 4 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $2,000.00 FOR THE REPAIR. I NEGOTIATED WITH A FORD WARRANTY ASSOCIATE AND SHE AGREED TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. ANY VEHICLE THAT CAN LOSE ALL BRAKING WITHOUT A REDUNDANT BACKUP IS UNACCEPTABLE. AFTER GETTING THE CAR FIXED I TRADED IT IN. THE TOTAL COST TO ME WAS ABOUT $20,000.00. I AM PARTICULARLY CONCERNED FOR ALL OF THE UNSUSPECTING FAMILIES DRIVING THE MKZ. JUST IMAGINE! NO BRAKES AT 50 MPH COMING TO A STOP LIGHT, HITTING THE CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF YOU, AND HAVING YOUR FAMILY AND THE OTHER VEHICLES' FAMILY CARTED OFF TO THE MORGUE. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE POTENTIALLY SERIOUS OUTCOME OF A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE TO BOTH THE AUTONATION FORD SERVICE ADVISOR AND TO THE FORD WARRANTY ASSOCIATE. THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN NOT COVERING THE CAR UNDER THE WARRANTY THAN THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE FAILURE. IN CONCLUSION, I SINCERELY HOPE THAT THE NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS FAILURE MODE AND HAVE FORD MAKE THE NECESSARY DESIGN CHANGES AND RECALL THE VEHICLES WITH AN APPROPRIATE FIX. *TR

THEN ON ADVERTISEMENT STATES WHAT THE VEHICLE CAME WITH AND SPECS ALONG WITH VIN NUMBER : FOR EXAMPLE PREMIUM SOUND RADIO/AUDIO SYSTEM SO WAS A FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. BECAUSE THE RADIO AND SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK .WHICH WAS STATED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE WOULD BE FIXED OR HE WOULD TAKE THE FEES OFF THE VEHICLE SALE/PURCHASE .WHICH WAS NEVER DONE . ROAD RUNNER AUTO SALES HAS ANOTHER LOCATION WHERE I WAS SENT TO GET RADIO FIXED AND A AIR INTAKE HOUSING UNIT TO BE INSTALLED . THE AIR INTAKE HOUSING UNIT WAS COMPLETELY MISSING FROM ENGINE AS I HAVE A DIAGRAM FOR YOU ATTACHED WITH OTHER RECEIPTS OF REPAIRS AND ESTIMATES OF THIS LEMON AUTO. TAZ SENT ME TO THE WAYNE, MICHIGAN ROAD RUNNER AUTO SALES WHERE THIS WORK WAS PERFORMED.

I OWN A LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID (2011). I HAVE WHAT I CONSIDER A SAFETY FAILURE/HAZARD. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK/LATCH FAILED AND I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. I HAVE TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR BY WAY OF THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. IN AN EMERGENCY, IF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS INOPERABLE, A DRIVER WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPEN AND THE SEAT COULD NOT MOVE BACK, THUS, POTENTIALLY TRAPPING A DRIVER. *TR
2011 LINCOLN MKZ ALL FOUR TIRES FAILED DUE TO CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALLS. *MW
I DRIVE A 2011 LINCOLN MKZ AND TODAY I HAD A BIT OF A PROBLEM. A COWORKER OF MINE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SO THAT SHE MAY PICK UP HER VEHICLE FOR SOME SERVICING THAT SHE HAD DONE, AND DURING MY ATTEMPT AT PARKING I LOST MY POWER STEERING. AT FIRST I COULDN'T MOVE THE CAR SO I HAD PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN I TURNED IT OFF. I HAD TURNED TO MY COWORKER AND SHE HAD NOTICED MY DIFFICULTY STEERING. I HAD THEN STARTED MY CAR ONCE AGAIN AND TRIED TO PARK BUT THIS TIME I WAS CAPABLE OF STEERING. THE NUMBER OF TURNS IT TOOK TO ACTUALLY STEER WERE FAR BEYOND THE USUAL AND IT WAS COUPLED WITH A CHATTER THAT I BOTH COULD FEEL AND HEAR. LUCKILY I OPTED FOR A WARRANT THAT INCLUDED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. I'VE YET TO RECEIVE ANY SORT REPLY FROM MY DEALER AND I WILL SURELY KEEP THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES NOTIFIED. *TR

POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING CAR. STEERING SYSTEM FAULT LIGHT WENT ON. PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF ENGINE AND THEN RESTARTED IT. POWER STEERING ASSIST WORKED UNTIL A FEW HOURS LATER IT WENT OFF AGAIN IN THE DRIVEWAY. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND POWER STEERING ASSIST WORKED AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER ON JULY 31. I WAS GIVEN A LOANER CAR AND I PICKED UP MY CAR ON AUGUST 1. *TR
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON DRIVER SIDE DID NOT RETRACT PROPERLY CAUSING DOOR HANDLE TO BE INOPERABLE TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OF VEHICLE. CONCERNS WERE MADE AWARE BY OWNER TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT ALL DOORS AND THERE LACK OF CONFIDENCE TO OPERATE ESPECIALLY IN A CRASH. WHEN OWNER CONTACTED DEALERSHIP IN 2014 THE DEALER INDICATED THERE WAS NO RECALL OR DEFECTS NOTED BY MANUFACTURER. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN JAN 2011. INTERMITTENTLY, THE ENTIRE SOUND SYSTEM STOPS WORKING (RADIO, CD PLAYER, AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM). THIS MEANS THAT IF, THE DRIVER HAS ENGAGED THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM RELYING ON THE VOICE INSTRUCTIONS WHICH SUDDENLY DO NOT WORK, HE/SHE MUST THEN LOOK AT THE SMALL SCREEN FOR UPCOMING TURNS AND OTHER INFORMATION MORE FREQUENTLY THAN WHEN THE VOICE INSTRUCTIONS ARE WORKING. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT TAKING ONES EYES OFF THE ROAD TO EXAMINE THE SCREEN INFORMATION IS UNSAFE. THE DEALER (ED HOWARD LINCOLN IN SARASOTA FL) HAS REPLACED THE "AUDIO CONTROL MODULE" TWICE: IN NOV 2014 AND IN DEC 2017. THIS LAST REPAIR ORDER MENTIONS "COMPUTER TESTS FOR CODE, U1214".
WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY (LESS THAN 30 MPH), A CHIME SOUNDED AND TWO MESSAGES APPEARED ON MY DASH-BOARD, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT," AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC." SIMULTANEOUSLY, POWER STEERING ASSIST STOPPED WORKING, REQUIRING ME TO MUSCLE THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND IN ORDER TO MANEUVER OUT OF HARMS WAY. IN ADDITION TO THE INCIDENT DESCRIBED ABOVE, THE SAME THING (LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THOSE TWO MESSAGES) OCCURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. I WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO RESTORE FUNCTION BY RESTARTING THE ENGINE ONCE OR TWICE WHILE PARKED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MIGHT HAVE FAILED BUT WAS UNAWARE HOW TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
DISPLAY IN DASHBOARD DISPLAYED "BLINDSPOT NOT AVAILABLE". SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE BLIND SPOT WARNING LIGHT ON PASSENGER (RIGHT) SIDE CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. WARNING MESSAGE IN DASHBOARD DISPLAY WENT OFF ON ITS OWN, BUT INDICATOR LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON WITH VEHICLE IN THE BLIND SPOT. *TR
3/5/14 DRIVER AND PASSENGER CLIMATE CONTROL SEATS ARE INOPERATIVE. NO INDICATOR LIGHT AFTER PRESSING BUTTONS. TOOK TO DEALER 3/12/14. FROM DEALER WRITEUP: VERIFIED CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEATS ARE INOP. SELF TESTED, COULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH DCSM MODULE. RAN OASIS, NO MESSAGES MATCH CONCERN. PERFORMED SYMPTOM CHART TO PINPOINT TESTS CONCLUDING A BAD DCSM MODULE AND MAIN CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. REPLACED CONNECTOR AND CHECKED ALL CIRCUITS, OK. REPLACED MODULE AND RECHECKED OPERATION FOR BOTH SATS, OK. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER ON 3/17/14. AFTER TURNING ON CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT, LIGHT GOES OUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS. WAS TOLD BY DEALER SEATS WERE OPERATING CORRECTLY, CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT OPERATE ONLY WHEN GAS ENGINE IS RUNNING, THEY WOULD TURN OF WHEN CAR GOES INTO HYBRID MODE. THIS IS NOT HOW THE SEATS WORKED FOR THE PAST 2.5 YEARS. AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS WITH LINCOLN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GROUP WAS TOLD THAT THE SYNC UPGRADE PERFORMED IN MARCH 2012 WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW DCSM MODULE INSTALLED. *TR

40 M, CAR WHEN RIGHT OFF ROAD, HIT A POLL. CENTER TO RIGHT FRONT DAMAGE. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I DID NOT HAVE ANY CUTS ON FACE BUT MY HEAD WAS HURTING HARD. ALOT I DON'T REMEMBER AFTER THAT FOR DAYS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE DEALER (GANLEY LINCOLN, 6930 PEARL RD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH 44130, (440) 845-6000) REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING UNIT. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT SUSPENSION ASSEMBLIES FAILED AND THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO HEAR AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,500. THE 2011 MKZ FRONT SEATS HAVE A HARD BLOCK I THINK IS THE BOX FOR THE SEAT CONTROLS THAT IF YOU SIT IN IT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES STARTS HURTING THE BACK OF YOUR LEGS. IT ACTUALLY TAKES YOUR ATTENTION AWAY BECAUSE IT IS SO UN COMFORTABLE YOU ARE ALWAYS ADJUSTING THE WAY YOU ARE SITTING. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THE SERVICE TECH FELT IT AND TOLD ME THAT HE THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG TOO. HE CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND TOLD ME THAT THE SEAT WAS THE STANDARD AND THAT IS THE WAY THEY WERE MADE THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO PICK UP MY MKZ I WENT INTO THE SHOW ROOM TO FEEL THE SEATS IN THE NEW MKZS AND THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID THE SEAT WAS STANDARD BUT IF THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY MIGHT DO SOMETHING. THIS IS THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE SEAT I HAVE EVER HAD, TAKING A LONG TRIP IS NOT PLEASANT. *TR

TAKATA RECALL. WE WERE NOTIFIED IN 2016 THAT OUR VEHICLE IS ON THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL LIST. UPON CONTACTING OUR LINCOLN DEALER WE WERE TOLD THE AIRBAG WOULD BE REPLACED IN EARLY 2017. WE HAVE NOT HEARD BACK SINCE. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 2, 2017.
"TAKATA RECALL" WE ARE BEING MESSED ABOUT WITH THE LOCAL FORD LINCOLN DEALERSHIP AT PINES FORD, IN HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THEY SAID THEY HAD ORDERED THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS, THEN THEY SAID THEY HAD A DELIVERY BUT THEY WERE NO GOOD AND HAVE NOW RE-ORDERED. WE ARE STILL WAITING. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ORDER THESE AIRBAGS? WE ARE ELDERLY SENIORS AND ALTHOUGH WE FEEL WE ARE GOOD DRIVERS THERE ARE SO MANY BAD DRIVERS OUT THERE, WHERE AN ACCIDENT COULD HAPPEN AND THE AIRBAG INFLATES CAUSING POSSIBLE DEATH. CAN YOU DO ANYTHING TO HURRY THIS ALONG?
