DROVE CAR TODAY AND IT HAD BEEN SITTING PARKED FOR 5 HOURS . NEIGHBORS CALLED MY CELL TO TELL ME THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD BEEN CALLED TO TRY TO PUT IT OUT . THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO CHAINSAW THE HOOD AND THEY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO PUT IT OUT WITHOUT THE FIRE DESTROYING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE TRUCK HOWEVER HAD BURNED FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT . THIS TRUCK HAD SELF STARTED ITS OWN FIRE BEING LEFT ALONE IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR 5 HOURS . *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN TO THE CONTACT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. FOUR HOURS AFTER BEING DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE WAS SO BAD THAT THE HOOD BLEW OFF. THE TIRES AND EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE WERE MELTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND A FIREFIGHTER STATED THAT THERE WAS A FORD RECALL REGARDING THIS FAILURE. HE FURTHER STATED THAT THE FIRE APPEARED TO HAVE ORIGINATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL TOW YARD. THE CONTACT HAS PHOTOS AND A VIDEOTAPE OF THE FIRE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 97,000.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR SEEMED TO TAKE CONTROL OF ITSELF. MY TAPE PLAYER QUIT WORKING, MY AIR TURNED OFF. MY ENGINE WAS ROARING. PUSHING FORWARD EVEN WITH MY BRAKES ON. I WAS SHAKING AND CRYING I COULD NOT CONTROL MY CAR IT WAS TRYING TO MOVE INTO THE INTERSECTION WITH A RED LIGHT. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE MOVEMENT. I FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS POSSESSED WITH IT'S OWN MIND. THE CAR REPAIR SHOP REPLACED IT'S ALTERNATOR. I AM ON MY 4TH ALTERNATOR THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP IT CAN NOT BE DRIVEN ON THE ROAD SAFELY. THEY HAVE TRIED REPLACING SOME WIRING. STILL IS NOT WORKING. *NM
VEHICLE STALLS AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. DEALER CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM.
PROBLEM FIRST NOTICED AT APPRX. 700 MILES - STRONG VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHILE SITTING AT AN IDLE, ALSO FELT IN REVERSE. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN 5 TIMES NOW FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM NOW HAS THE CAR. THEY ARE REPLACING BOTH THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND THE TRANSMISSION MOUNTS IN HOPE OF CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM. I AM WORRIED THAT IT HAS BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE REPLY.
