I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD SMELL SMOKE AND MY AC JUST STOPPED. I TOOK MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 INTO 3 SHOPS. ONE WAS THE MAZDA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. ALL 3 PLACES TOLD ME THAT MY AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH HAD GONE OUT. THE PART AND LABOR IS COSTING ME $750 TO FIX. I HAVE BEEN READING ON SEVERAL ONLINE FORUMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND OFTEN LEADS TO THE S-BELT BREAKING AND THE ENTIRE CAR JUST STOPPING WHILE DRIVING. I EVEN HAD ONE OF THE MECHANICS TELL ME THAT IT COULD HAPPEN TO ME AT ANY TIME. *TR
A/C STOPPED WORKING - INSTEAD OF COLD, IT BLOWING HOT AIR - WHILE RETURNING FROM THE TRIP (~4HHS). AFTER THAT, ON ~45M/H ROAD - I FELT A SMELL AND SAW SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HAD TO CALL FIRE DEPARTMENT, LUCKILY CAR/ENGINE DID NOT FLAME UP. CAR IS IN REPAIR SHOP NOW. IT WAS NOT ONLY A FIRE HAZARD, BUT ALSO PROBABLY HEALTH TOO: I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND BREATHING WHATEVER IS BURNING ?! *TR
AC COMPRESSOR HAS LOCKED UP. FURTHER DAMAGE UNKNOWN AT THIS POINT. *TR
AT 45,000 MILES MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 BEGAN BLOWING THICK WHITE SMOKE OUT FROM THE EXHAUST AND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER WHO SAID THE TURBO WENT OUT AND WAS LEAKING OIL INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THEY REPLACED THE TURBO AND COVERED THE PART AND CHARGED ME THE $600 IN LABOR TO INSTALL IT. CAR IS NOW AT 57,000 MILES AND IS SHOWING THE SAME SYMPTOMS WHEN RPMS GO OVER 4000. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 MAZDA CX7, IT'S ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND I JUST SPENT $900.00 FOR A NEW COMPRESSOR FOR THE A/C. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 MAZDA CX-7....... ABOUT 3 DAYS AGO THE A/C STOPPED WORKING AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT..... I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND APPARENTLY THE A/C SYSTEM IN THE 2007 MAZDA CX-7 IS NOT EXACTLY UP TO PAR BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING YEAR THE A/C SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY RE-DONE ON ALL 2008 MAZDA CX-7..... NOW IM STUCK HERE IN BLAZING HOT TEXAS WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS BARELY 2 YEARS OLD AND I CANT AFFORD A NEW A/C COMPRESSOR...... ALSO I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MY CAR BREAKING DOWN DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE COMPRESSOR HAS BEEN KNOWN TO SNAP BELTS... *TR
AIR COMPRESSOR BLEW OFF WITH BROKE IN PULLEY AND BELT. *TR
DRIVING A 2007 MAZDA CX-7 WITH 36, 671 MILES ON IT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND TURNED THE AIR ON, THERE WERE SPARKS AND SMOKE. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON IN THIS MODEL AND MAZDA HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PART. PART SPECIFICALLY IS THE AIR COMPRESSOR, IT LOCKS UP, STOPS THE ENGINE, AND TEARS UP THE SERPENTINE BELT. SINCE I AM OVER THE WARRANTY BY 600 MILES THIS WILL COST ME UPWARDS OF 2,000. *TR

I BOUGHT MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO, WITH ONLY 17,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE IT WAS A DEALER DEMO FOR LESS THAN A YEAR. OVER THE WEEKEND (SATURDAY, JULY11, 2009) MY AIR CONDITIONING BEGAN BLOWING OUT HOT AIR. THE NEXT DAY, MY ENGINE SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE SPUTTERING, AND MY CAR BEGAN SMOKING AND SMELLING LIKE BURNT RUBBER. THIS MORNING, 7/13/09, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME MY AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDED REPLACING FOR MORE THAN $800, AND MY CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE. ON TOP OF THAT, THE AIR COMPRESSOR WILL TAKE UP TO 3 WEEKS TO ORDER, AND MAZDA WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR A RENTAL CAR OR PROVIDE A COMPARABLE DEALER CAR TO DRIVE BECAUSE MY 25,000 MILE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. MY REAL CONCERN IS NOT THE MONEY, ALTHOUGH IT'S A HUGE REPAIR BILL FOR A BRAND NEW CAR, BUT IT'S SAFETY. I OWN A 2007 MAZDA CX7 WITH ONLY 41K MILES ON IT. IT STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR, A/C WOULD NOT WORK AND IT WAS MAKING AWFUL NOISE. I DID SOME INVESTIGATING ONLINE AND DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2007 MODEL HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. LUCKILY I READ HOW PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THEIR CAR BREAKING DOWN AND INOPERABLE WHEN THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TO THEM, SO I TOOK THE CAR STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER. IT IS THE AC COMPRESSOR AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO EVEN DRIVE CAR ($1400 REPAIR). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE NO ONE WOULD THINK THEIR CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE BECAUSE THE A/C ISN'T WORKING. WHEN THE COMPRESSOR GOES OUT, IT IS SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY SMOKE, BAD SMELL AND CAR BREAKDOWN. ON THE HIGHWAY THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PART DEFECT AND MAZDA IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, YET THEY ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. AN AC COMPRESSOR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO LAST ONLY 20K-50K MILES ON A CAR, THAT IS RIDICULOUS AND CONSUMERS OF THE 2007 MAZDA CX-7 SHOULD NOT BE BURDENED WITH BEARING THE REPLACEMENT COST BECAUSE WE HAVE A DEFECTIVE PART IN OUR CAR, NOR SHOULD WE HAVE TO BE SUBJECTED TO THE SAFETY HAZARD THIS DEFECT CAN CAUSE BY COMPLETE BREAKDOWN OF THE CAR. *TR
AT 45K AND ON VACATION 500MI FROM HOME, A/C STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR AND BURNING ODOR,FRICTION NOISE, AND SMOKE FROM SERPENTINE BELT AREA. TOOK THE CAR TO LOCAL MAZDA DEALER, TOLD THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR HAD SEIZED UP AND THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR OVER 1 WEEK (NATIONALLY!) AND THAT COMPRESSOR FAILURE MIGHT HAVE CAUSED OTHER PROBLEMS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED. HAVE TO GET A RENTAL CAR AND COME BACK IN 2+ WEEKS TO PICK THE CAR BACK. *TR
CAR RECENTLY PURCHASED DECEMBER 2008 AND INSPECTED ONE MONTH AGO BUT IS OVER WARRANTY. THE COMPRESSOR GOES OUT FOR NO REASON PER THE DEALER AND HE ADVISED THAT HE SEE THIS PROBLEM IN THE CX7S ALL OF THE TIME. I HAVE ALSO VISITED OTHER CAR BLOG SITES AND PEOPLE REPORTING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE COMPRESSOR. I CALLED MAZDA AND THEY GAVE ME A FILE #124465 BUT ADVISE THEY ARE SIMPLY UNABLE TO REACH THE REP IN MY AREA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING, THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP AND STOPPED THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE SERPENTINE BELT TO SHRED AND THE BATTERY CABLE TO MELT. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH HER YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO PAY FOR 75% OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE A CRASH COULD HAVE OCCURRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44,000.
MY WIFE'S 2007 CX7 A/C COMP FROZE UP AND SEIZED THE MOTOR ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED HARM TO MY CHILD AND OTHER BY STANDARDS THIS SEEMS TO BE A BI PROBLEM WITH MAZDA AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
A/C CONDENSER FOR AIR CONDITION JUST WENT ON FRIDAY MORNING WENT NEXT DAY SATURDAY TO MAZDA DEALER THEY HAD NO INVENTORY NO BACK ORDER DATE BUT WANTED ME TO GIVE THEM $800. TO HOLD AND ITEM WITH NO ACKNOWLEDGE TO WHEN IT WILL COME IN THEY SAID SINCE IT WENT OUT YESTERDAY MORNING I HAVEN'T REALLY HEARD ANYTHING BAD AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, LIFTED THERE ABOUT 30 MIN HEADING TO MAKE SOME ERRANDS WITH MY 2 BOYS, FRONT HOOD STARTING SMOKING VERY WHICH SMOKE AND SMELT BURNING PULLED OVER WAITED I CALLED THEM THEY SAID OH, THIS MEANS THAT YOU ENGINE BELT BROKE AND YOUR ENGINE IS FROZEN. $1400. TO REPAIR 2007 CX07 (NOTHING BUT ISSUES). *TR
I NOTICED A "RUBBING: SOUND, OR A SOUND IN THE SUSPENSION OR STEERING THAT WOULD LEAD ME TO THINK IT NEEDED A "LUBE JOB", BUT NEWER VEHICLES NO LONG NEED TO BE GREASED SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE SOUND OCCURRED MOST NOTABLY AT LOW SPEED WHILE TURNING SLOWLY, MANY TIMES WHILE BACKING UP AND TURNING, IT SOUNDED "DRY" AND LABORED, NOT A SQUEALING OR SQUEAKY SOUND. BUT I COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE NOISE AT THE DEALERSHIP, DESPITE MULTIPLE TRIPS AND HAVING THE MECHANIC SIT IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. FINALLY THEY REPLACED THE "STRUT BEARINGS" IN 2013, THOUGH I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PART BEFORE. THEY WERE CERTAIN THIS WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID NOT. MY LAST TRIP TO THE DEALER IN OCT. 2014 LED THEM TO THINK THE STRUTS NEEDED REPLACING ALONG WITH THE STRUT BEARINGS, THOUGH THE LATTER WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 67,000 MILES ON IT. I'M TOLD BY ANOTHER MECHANICS GARAGE SERVICE THERE WAS A 2009 MANUFACTURER NOTICE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT NO ONE AT THE DEALER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2007 MAZDA CX7. IN JAN. OF 2008, MY A/C STOPPED WORKING AND SMOKE WAS POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP, WE WERE TOLD THE A/C COMPRESSOR WAS FRIED. IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THAT POINT WITH APPROX. 25,000 MILES. AROUND THIS TIME WE HAD TO HAVE ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE BALD. NOW IT IS MAY 2009, AND ONCE AGAIN, THE A/C STOPPED WORKING, THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR AGAIN, THAT THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED. THEY DISCONNECTED THE COMPRESSOR AND SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SMOKE WAS POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AFTER PULLING OFF OF THE ROAD WE TRIED TO RE START THE CAR, THAT IS WHEN THE BELT SNAPPED, AND THE CAR IS NO LONGER DRIVABLE. AND THE TIRES ARE BALD AGAIN ONE YEAR LATER. *TR
MAZDA CX7 2007- 21,000 MILE . AIR CONDITIONER SEIZED THERE BY SHREDDING SERPENTINE BELT , LOSS OF POWER STEERING, ALTERNATOR. REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THEN 1 WEEK LATER AFTER ABOUT 900 MILES THE PULLEY OFF CRANKCASE (HARMONIC BALANCE) ACTUALLY FELL OFF ( FOUND INSIDE WHEEL WELL FENDER). SERPENTINE BELT NOW NOT SPINNING , LOSS OF POWER STEERING AGAIN AND ENGINE OVER HEATING AGAIN. SECOND REPAIR IN PROGRESS NOW(06-22-09). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER DOES NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE AIR PRESSURE WAS BURNED OUT, WHICH WAS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE DEALER WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT FILLED WITH SMOKE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THE AIRCONDITIONER HAD FAILED AND THAT THE CLUTCH ON THE AC ALTHOUGH FUNCTIONING WAS NOT TURNING AND THAT THE BELT WAS BURNING. *TR
VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. PULLED TO SHOULDER OF EXPRESSWAY AND SHUT ENGINE OFF. LOOKED UNDER HOOD, THEN TRIED TO RESTART. ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. FOUND A/C COMPRESSOR SEIZED AND STARTER DAMAGED FROM ATTEMPTING TO RESTART ENGINE. DEALER REPLACED STARTER, A/C COMPRESSOR, EXP TANK, BELT AND FREON. VEHICLE IS A ONE OWNER WITH 43,203 MILES. DEALER DID SPLIT COST $1879.92/$939.96. WHEN SEARCHING ON LINE, FOUND MANY CUSTOMERS OF SAME VEHICLE W/SAME PROBLEM SEEMS MAZDA KNOWS OF PROBLEM AND HAS CHANGED DESIGN OF COMPRESSOR, BUT WILL NOT RECALL THIS ITEM, EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE CAN LOOSE POWER STEERING. *TR

I HAVE A MAZDA 2007 CX 7 WITH BRIDGESTONE TIRES. I HAVE 25,480 MILES AND DO NOT CARRY ANYTHING HEAVY. THE CAR IS USUALLY USED FOR LOCAL TRAVEL WIH 1 PERSON IN IT AND NO MORE THAN 2, BOTH OF US TOGETHER WEIGH LESS THAN 300 LBS. TWO OF MY TIRES HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND ANOTHER ONE WITHIN THE NEXT 1000 MILES. PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED THIS MODEL HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT TIRES WEARING OUT AT 22,000 MILES AND MAZDA NOR BRIDGESTONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AC COMPRESSOR FAILED AFTER 23 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, 40,000 MILES TO BE EXACT. DEALER TELLS ME THAT MAZDA COMPLETELY OVERHAULED THE DESIGN OF THE AIR CONDITIONING OF THE FOLLOWING YEARS MODEL. THE COMPRESSOR WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. THIS IS A RED FLAG AND PROVES THAT THEIR DESIGN ON THE 07 MODEL WAS FLAWED... AC COMPRESSOR BEARING LOCKED UP SUDDENLY EVEN THOUGH SYSTEM WAS TURNED OFF, THEN BELT SNAPPED, THEN VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD, THIS CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. 1. I WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AS I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY VIA AN ON-RAMP. THE CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY DRIVING NORMALLY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. 2. THE CAR KEPT ON ACCELERATING AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL. IN MARCH, MY 2007 MAZDA CX-7 HAD AN AIR COMPRESSOR FAILURE. I WAS COMING OFF AN EXIT RAMP OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. I TURNED IT OFF, THEN SMELLED BURNING RUBBER. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, WHITE SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH MY HOOD. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME, I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY FURTHER. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALER, AND MY CAR, LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AT A LITTLE OVER 50,000 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MY AIR COMPRESSOR. I DID RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 CX-7, BUT THAT NO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. I WAS UNABLE TO GET A LOANER VEHICLE FROM MY DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. THE COST OF MY REPAIR WAS $1480, ALONG WITH THE CAR RENTAL. I LOVE MY CX-7, BUT I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER MAZDA AFTER THIS VEHICLE. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND CORRECTED BY MAZDA. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD BEFORE THE SMOKE TURNED INTO A FIRE. AFTER GETTING ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND OUT THIS IS A POPULAR PROBLEM WITH CX7S ALONG WITH SHOTTY TIRES THAT HAS TO BE REPLACE BETWEEN 10K TO 18K MILES. *TR
MY A/C COMPRESSOR GAVE OUT SUDDENLY AT ABOUT 40K. A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT HAPPENED THERE WAS A LOUD BELT NOISE FROM MY ENGINE, AND A BURNING SMELL. I CAN NOT RUN THE A/C WITHOUT FURTHER DAMAGING OTHER COMPONENTS IN MY CAR. THIS IS ONLY A TWO YEAR OLD CAR. MAZDA SAYS THEY WILL NOT COMPLETELY COVER IT, SINCE IT HAPPENED OUTSIDE OF THE 36K BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN REPLACED. AFTER PLENTY OF RESEARCH ON FORUMS, I OBSERVED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ON MOST MAZDA CX-7'S BETWEEN 25K-40K MILES. IT HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND WHO HAS THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR 4 DAYS AFTER HER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY EXPIRED. SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO SMOKE AND LEFT HER STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. SERPENTINE BELT BURNED ALL OVER. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT FOR ME IF I HAD NOT PULLED OVER IN TIME. I HAVE CONTACTED MAZDA ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY DENY THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL CAR. THEY SAY THEY HANDLE IT ON A CASE BY CASE ISSUE. YET I HAVE FOUND POSTINGS IN WHICH PEOPLE HAVE HAD MAZDA COVER THE ENTIRE COST OF THIS ISSUE OUTSIDE OF THE 36K MILE WARRANTY. MAZDA IS ONLY WILLING TO COVER HALF OF THE COST. YET AFTER ALL MY RESEARCH, AND ALL THE OTHER OWNERS THAT I HAVE DISCOVERED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2007 MAZDA CX-7 MODEL, I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THIS IS A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE, NOT WARRANTY. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE MUCH ON THESE TIRES IN THE CONDITION THEY ARE IN BY 4 SEPARATE OPINIONS WE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALERSHIP, TIRE MANUFACTURER AND 2 ADDITIONAL TIRE RETAILERS. WE HAVE HAD 1 FLAT TIRE DURING THE PROCESS OF GETTING THESE TIRES REPLACED HOWEVER NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP, CAR MANUFACTURER NOR THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WOULD STAND BEHIND THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT.
