TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. *TR
A/C COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I HEARD A TICKING NOISE AFTER A FEW SECONDS LATER THE CAR LOST POWER AND SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE EXHAUST. WHEN I PULLED OVER I TOOK THE COVER OFF FROM THE ENGINE AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS OIL COMING OUT FROM WHERE THE TOP OF THE OIL GOES.THE OIL PRESSURE ON THE BLOCK WAS COMPROMISED DUE TO FAILURE OF THE TURBO. WHEN TAKEN TO THE ROGER BEASLEY MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND THE CAR WAS CRANKED THE DIP STICK SHOT OUT FROM THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THERE WAS CARBON BUILD UP BUT COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER ACS CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE TURBO. BEFORE TAKING THE TRIP ON 4-18-2013 I TOOK MY CAR THE MAZDA OF MESQUITE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I HEARD A TICKING NOISE AND THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL. ALSO THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED MSP 36 REFLASHED PCM WITH UPDATED SOFTWARE AND CLEARED ALL FAULT CODES SINCE THERE WAS A RECALL. THREE WEEKS LATER THE ENGINE GOES OUT. THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY EXPIRED, BUT HAVE A IN SERVICE WARRANTY. THE IN SERVICE WARRANTY AGENCY DENIED THE CLAIM INDICATING THAT IT WAS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF THE ENGINE FAILURE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND ALSO EMAILED THE MANUFACTURE TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN AND BOTH AGENCIES DIRECTED ME BACK TO THE IN SERVICE WARRANTY. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND IN SERVICE WARRANTY ARE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST IN THE COST BEING THAT THE CX7 MODEL IS A LEMON IN MY OPINION. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CLAIMS AGAINST THIS MODEL BY OTHER CONSUMERS IN WHICH WAS CONFIRMED BY THE EMPLOYEES AT THE GEORGETOWN ROGER BEASLEY MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THE EMPLOYEES INDICATED THAT THE CX7 MODEL HAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS THAT IS WHY THE CX5 REPLACED THE CX7 MODEL. SINCE THE CLAIM WAS DENIED I HAVE SPENT OVER 1000 WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY REPAIRS, ON A SIDE NOTE I WAS 300 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING, THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND IMPLODED INTO THE ENGINE, DAMAGING THE ENGINE WHICH NOW NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TURNING INTO A WALMART PARKING LOT MY CAR SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON. ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS PASSING BY SINCE I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN. TURNING INTO MY APARTMENT COMPLEX THE CAR TURNED OFF AGAIN. STARTED TO RESEARCH ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND I RAN INTO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. CAR TURNED OFF ANOTHER 4 TIMES. CAR SHAKES WHEN I TURN AC ON.AND WHEN I PLACE IT ON REVERSE. ALSO HAD THE CLICKING NOISE BUT IT SEEMED TO GO AWAY. THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME SENSOR ISSUES. I TOOK MY CX7 TO MAZDA SO THAT THEY CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. THEY RAN TESTS. CAME BACK AND SAID IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT $3500. IT WAS A LIST OF THINGS THAT COULD BE WRONG THEY SAID, THEY WERE NOT SO SURE WHAT TO SAY. MECHANIC THEN STATED THAT SINCE HE WORKS AT MAZDA HE PROBABLY SHOULD NOT BE TELLING ME THIS BUT HE SAID THAT HE HAS SEEN THAT PROBLEM ONE TOO MANY TIMES WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. THAT YES MAZDA DOES KNOW ABOUT IT BUT THEY BLAME THE OWNERS. SO I ASKED IT I WERE TO PAY THIS WOULD I GET SOME WARRANTY, HE SAID NO BECAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. GOD FORBID THAT MY CAR TURNS OFF AND I HAVE AND ACCIDENT, SINCE CAR GIVES NO WARNING. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN THAT RIDE WITH ME ALL THE TIME. MAZDA HAD SOME SORT OF RECALL ON THIS CAR A FEW YEARS AGO. I PURCHASED THIS CAR FEBRUARY OF 2012. I KNOW UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PERSON TOOK CAR TO TRADE OUT. MAYBE THEY GOT NOTICE BUT DID NOT CARE TO TAKE CARE OF IT, THEY TRADED THE CAR IN. I THINK THEY SHOULD LOOK AT THOSE ISSUES ON ALL MAZDA CX7. THEIR MAIN ISSUES ARE THE TURBO, THE AC, AND THE TIMING BELT. IF YOU READ OTHER COMPLAINTS YOU WILL SEE THAT ITS THE SAME ISSUE WHICH IS DUE TO THE ACTUAL CAR NOT THE OWNERS, PLEASE HELP US AFFECTED BY THESE VEHICLES GET MAZDA TO FINALLY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. 65MPH CAR DROPPED OUT OF 6TH AND POWERED DOWN. TURBO KILLED THE ENGINE. *TR
THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (NOT THE FIRST TIME). THE MAZDA MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE ECT SENSOR. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID, WELL IT IS PROBABLY ANOTHER PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN T BACK A FEW TIME, BUT NO ONE IS ABLE TO GIVE AN ACTUAL SOLUTION. I TOOK IT TO A NON-AFFILIATED MAZDA MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT IS THE THROTTLE (THE CAR STOPPED AGAIN IN MAY, 2015) AND HEARS THE ENGINE NOISE WHICH COULD BE THE TIMING CHAIN. I JUST DON'T TRUST MAZDA OR IT'S MECHANICS AND
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR. I DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THE CAR WAS HANDLING, HOWEVER I TOOK MY CAR INTO MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEY INFORMED ME THE CARS TIMING BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WAS SLUDGE ON THE ENGINE. IRONICALLY I HAD JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND MY ENGINE CLEANED OF SLUDGE LESS THAN 2 WEEKS PRIOR. WE SUBMITTED THE CLAIM THROUGH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND AFTER A WEEK GOT IT APPROVED. THE MORNING I WAS SLATED TO PICK UP THE CAR I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS STILL AN ISSUE THAT THEY NEEDED THE CAR LATER. A FEW DAYS LATER THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED MY ENGINE REPLACED. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DENIED THE ORIGINAL CLAIM NOW AND THE CLAIM FOR A NEW ENGINE DUE TO POOR UPKEEP, THOUGH I HAVE MY RECORDS OF MAINTENANCE. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 1 AND 1/2 YEARS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE CAR TO ANOTHER MECHANIC, BEAR IN MIND I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND AM PREGNANT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I HAVE DISCOVERED TONS OF ISSUES WITH THE 2007 CX7 WHICH CAN RESULT IN SEVERE SAFETY ISSUES, ENGINES LOSING POWER ETC. MAZDA IS NOT OWNING UP TO ANY OF IT. NO ENGINE SHOULD DIE AT 76,000 MILES. THIS IS DESERVING OF A RECALL, MAZDA NEEDS TO OWN THEIR MISTAKES. *TR
2007 MAZDA CX-7: TIMING CHAIN AND VVT HUB STARTED TO FAIL PREMATURELY, LEADING THE CAR TO NOT BE DRIVEN AND POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE AT SPEED. MAZDA IS AWARE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW AND POSSIBLE HAZARDOUS SITUATION, BUT IS RELUCTANT TO REPAIR AT THEIR COST. ENGINE MOUNT #3 HAS ALSO BROKEN CREATING UNSAFE SITUATION. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE NEW. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHTS UP FOR NO REASON. IT'S INTERMEDIATE. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE HOWEVER NOT A RECALL THEREFORE MAZDA WILL NOT PAY FOR THE EXPENSE TO REPAIR/FIX IT. I HAVE ASKED IF THE AIR BAG WILL WORK IF WE ARE IN AN ACCIDENT AND THEY CANNOT SAY EITHER WAY. ALSO OUR ENGINE LIGHT IS INTERMEDIATE AS WELL. I'VE TAKEN IT TO REPAIR SHOPS WHO RAN A FREE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH STATES ANOTHER KNOWN ISSUE WITH MAZDA WITH THE FUEL EVAPORATION LINE. IF MAZDA IS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES, WHY DON'T THEY REPAIR THEM AT NO COST TO THE OWNER? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST? *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD TIMING CHAIN JUMPED CAUSING SEVERE INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE ... (BENT ALL VALVES) APPROXIMATELY $8000. TO REPAIR! *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO EXPRESSWAY TRAFFIC WHEN I HEARD A LOUD WHINE/SQUEAL FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE CAR LOST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF POWER. THE NOISE WAS SO UNEXPECTED AND UNRECOGNIZABLE THAT THE SHOCK I EXPERIENCED WHEN I HEARD IT CAUSED ME TO TENSE UP AND VEER OFF TO THE RIGHT. FORTUNATELY AS I WAS ON A RAMP THERE WERE NO VEHICLES TO THE RIGHT OF ME TO HIT. I WAS ABLE TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED BY GRADUALLY ACCELERATING ON THE SHOULDER BEFORE MERGING AND THEN EXITED AT THE NEXT EXIT. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT A MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND I'VE BEEN TOLD IT WAS A TURBO CHARGER FAILURE. MY RESEARCH INTO THIS ISSUE ON THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR, HAS PROVEN THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR MAZDA AND THEY HAVE EXTENDED THEIR STANDARD WARRANTY COVERAGE TO OWNERS FOR ADDITIONAL MONTHS AND/OR MILES. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL HOWEVER AND I THINK THAT CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF THESE INCIDENTS THAT HAVE OCCURRED, ONE WOULD BE WARRANTED. *TR
ENGINE BEGAN TO VIBRATE, SCRAPING SOUND, A/C STOPPED WORKING. I HAD CAR TOWED TO MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE A/C COMPRESSOR, TIMING CHAIN AND ACTUATOR. TOTAL COST $2306.57. DEALERSHIP STATED THEY BROUGHT PCM UP TO DATE. EGR VALVE INDICATOR FAULT NOW ACTIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT) BURNED OUT AND CAUSED SMOKE TO EMIT FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VVT VALVE TIMING CHAIN WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED THE VVT VALVE TIMING CHAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VVT VALVE TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED FOUR TIMES PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
STARTED SMELLING STRONG BURNING RUBBER ODOR EMANATING THROUGH VENTS OF CAR WHILE IN OPERATION, EXITED HIGHWAY UPON SEEING WHITE SMOKE FUMING FROM UNDER HOOD. LOSS CONTROL OF STEERING AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT CRANK AGAIN. MECHANIC DETERMINED AC COMPRESSOR HAS SEIZED AND SERPENTINE BELT WAS SNAPPED DUE TO FRICTION FROM PULLEYS. IF I HAD STAYED ON FREEWAY INSTEAD OF EXITING, WITH THE LOST OF STEERING I SURELY WOULD HAVE POSED A DANGER TO MYSELF AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THIS COMPLAINT IS ONE OF NUMEROUS THOUSANDS THAT HAVE BEEN FILED ON BEHALF OF MAZDA AND ITS CX-7 MODEL. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE AC COMPRESSOR BEFORE IT CAUSES SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR FATALITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THE TURBO SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SLUDGE AND THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE AND ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES FLICKERED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN BELT AND THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. THE DEALER PROVIDED NO INVOICE OF THE REPAIRS. MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND THE CONTACT WAS TO TOW THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE WHAT PARTS THEY ACTUALLY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,366.
THE VEHICLE STARTED TAPPING UPON START UP AND SEEMED TO HAVE TROUBLE ACCELERATING. THERE WAS ALSO A RATTLING NOISE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED. I CALLED THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THIS IS NOT THEIR ISSUE BUT THEY COULD LOOK AT MY VEHICLE IF I PAID A $50.00 FEE AND WHAT EVER THE ISSUE, IT WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY. THERE ARE COUNTLESS ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE IE. VARITABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR, TURBO FAILURE, BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY MAZDA TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM IE. RECALL. PLEASE HELP US, THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE!! WE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY OUT ALL BECAUSE MAZDA WILL NOT ADMIT THEIR EQUIPMENT IS FAULTY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
I WAS EXPERIENCING A SHAKE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT HIGH SPEEDS, WHICH WE ATTRIBUTED TO A TIRE/WHEEL/ALIGNMENT ISSUE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED THE TIMING CHAIN (AND ASSORTED PERIPHERALS) REPLACED...FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS. THE FIRST TIME WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY, BUT ONLY AFTER I PRODUCED THE RECORDS TO SHOW THE OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED REGULARLY. THE SECOND TIME WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT COST $1500 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY THAT WAS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RECOMMENDED IGNORING THE MANUAL ON OIL CHANGES (EVERY 7500 MILES) AND CHANGING IT EVERY 3000 TO HOPEFULLY CATCH ANY FURTHER ISSUES. THEY SAID BECAUSE THE TURBO RUNS VERY HOT, IT BURNS UP THE OIL QUICKLY. MY CAR WAS VERY LOW WHEN I TOOK IT IN. THEY ALSO SAID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO ON DUE TO LOW OIL, BUT ONLY FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE. THE OTHER ISSUE I HAD WAS RELATED TO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. I HAVE THE AUTO-DIM WITH COMPASS, WHICH WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR. IT HAS FAILED TWICE AND BEEN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND TIME WAS AROUND 65K MILES. LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER MY WARRANTY RAN OUT, THE ENTIRE MIRROR FELL OFF THE WINDSHIELD. IN THE EARLY 2007 MODELS, THE CLIP THAT HOLDS THE MIRROR CAN NOT BE REPLACED IF IT BREAKS. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD REPLACED IN ORDER TO RE-ATTACH THE MIRROR. I WAS TOLD EVEN THOUGH THE MIRROR WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED SINCE IT HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED, THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT COVERED. THAT WAS ANOTHER $250 TO REPLACE A PERFECTLY GOOD WINDSHIELD JUST BECAUSE THE CLIP COULDN'T BE FIXED. I HAVE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED JUST TRADING THIS CAR IN BECAUSE I DOUBT VERY MUCH IT WILL BE WORTH MORE THAN SCRAP VALUE IN A FEW MORE YEARS. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WITH OR WITHOUT PASSENGER IN SEAT. HAVE HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS 2007 CX-7 FROM 2 DIFFERENT COMPLETE A/C SYSTEM REBUILDS IN FIRST 2 YEARS, BELT TENSIONER PULLEY, EGR VALVE CODES (HAD TO GET EGR VALVE CLEANED), COOLANT TEMP CODES (REPLACED THERMOSTAT & TEMP SENSOR) AND NOW AIR BAG RANDOM LIGHT. I AM ON A MAZDA FORUM AND HONESTLY THERE SHOULD BE MORE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS IN SEVERAL CATEGORIES... MAZDA RESPONSES TO JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING IS TO REPLACE SOMETHING FOR A MINIMUM $500 UP TO THOUSANDS... I AM TIRED OF HAVING TO DEAL WITH MAZDA AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER... TRADED IN A 2001 CHEVY TAHOE FOR CX-7 WITH 250,000 MI AND ONLY HAD NORMAL MAINTENANCE. THE CX-7 WAS A BAD INVESTMENT FOR ME... *TR
WE WERE DRIVING HOME ON CHRISTMAS EVE GOING ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN THE CARS ENGINE JUST DIED. WE LOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING. THANKFULLY WE WERE ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH AND DUE TO TIME OF NIGHT THERE WERE NOT MANY OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE IN THE PROCESS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I DISCOVERED HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT A BROKEN TIMING CHAIN THAT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE. SOME OF THESE COMPLAINTS WERE AS EARLY AS 30,000 MILES. THERE WAS EVEN DISCUSSION ABOUT A RECALL ON THE TIMING CHAIN FROM MAZDA SAYING THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE BUT MAZDA WAS NOT ALWAYS HONORING THIS RECALL. OBVIOUSLY BASED ON THESE COMPLAINTS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIMING CHAIN IN THE 2007 CX-7 THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MAZDA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE MESS THEY CREATED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT DID NOT RESPOND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DUE TO THE EGR VALVE = EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE BEING STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION WITH 51K MILES. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE VALVE (PART NUMBER L3K9-20-300A) AND THE GASKET (PART NUMBER LF6T-20-305) FOR $882.63 BEING THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WARRANTY OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY SINCE IT IS PART OF THE EMISSIONS PACKAGE I PAID, IN FULL, OUT OF POCKET. I HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL ONLINE FORUMS AND HAVE SEEN THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR 2007 CX7 BETWEEN 25K AND 55K MILES. I THINK THIS IS A MUCH LARGER PROBLEM THAN REGULAR WEAR AND TEAR REQUIRING AN INVESTIGATION. *TR
I WANTED TO REPORT A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE AC COMPRESSOR AND INSTEAD OF DOING A RECALL ON THE PRODUCT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES (INSTEAD OF 32,000 MILES). I BOUGHT MY CAR RIGHT AROUND THE TIME THEY SENT THESE LETTERS OUT, SO WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON. RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING THE MAZDA AND I SMELLED SMOKE. I SAW SOME SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AND WHEN I PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE HOOD THE AC COMPRESSOR WAS ON FIRE. HAD I NOT BEEN PULLING INTO WORK AND ON THE HIGHWAY I WOULD?VE BEEN IN WORSE SHAPE. IT WAS SCARY CONSIDERING IT WAS NEXT TO THE ENGINE WHICH HAS OIL, FUEL, ETC...GOING THROUGH IT. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AC COMPRESSOR UNTIL ALL OF A SUDDEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. I HAVE MADE ATTEMPTS TO CALL MAZDA AND TRY TO GET SOME HELP ON THIS ISSUE, AND THEY SEEM TO NOT CARE AT ALL. I STARTED THE CAR, LIKE I REGULARLY DO AND THE ENGINE/TIMING CHAIN MADE A HORRIBLE SOUND THAT GOT ME VERY WORRIED SINCE THIS CAR IS TAKING CARE VERY GOOD SINCE ITS THE ONLY CAR IN THE HOUSEHOLD. I CONTACTED MAZDA AND THEY SAID THE CAR HAD A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR A L3T ENGINE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING NOISE AND TIMING CHAIN NOISE WHICH IS CAUSE BY " ACTUAL FAILURE DUE TO DEFECTS IN WORKMANSHIP OR MATERIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MAZDA WARRANTY POLICY AND PROCEDURES. THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION WAS FOR 70,000MILES OR 7 SEVEN YEARS WHICH EVER CAME FIRST, SO MY CAR WAS NOT COVER SINCE IT HAD 101,000. MY CONCERN AND DISAPPOINTMENT IS THAT AFTER SEARCHING AND TAKING TO OTHER CX-7 OWNERS THE (2007-08) MODELS ALL HAD ISSUES WITH THIS AND MAZDA DID NOT MADE A RECALL JUST EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. CARS WITH MILEAGE OF AS LOW AS 24,000 WERE AFFECTED BY IT, SO ITS CLEARLY NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE OF THE CAR. IF THAT IS NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE MIGHT BE DAMAGE AND MAZDA WILL NOT EVEN OFFER A GOODWILL ASSISTANCE. I STILL MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THE CAR AND ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO PAY $1200 IN SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY STATED BY MAZDA IS A "DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP OR MATERIALS". IN NOVEMBER OF 2012 MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SEATTLE, WA TO SAN DIEGO, CA. WHEN WE WERE DRIVING WE SMELLED BURNING RUBBER SO PULLED OVER TO SEE IF WE COULD SEE SOMETHING WRONG UNDER THE HOOD. SINCE IT WAS 10PM AND DARK OUTSIDE WE COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING AND DECIDED TO FIND THE NEAREST HOTEL TO STAY AT UNTIL WE COULD TAKE IT TO A SHOP. AFTER WE STARTED DRIVING WE SAW THERE WAS A FREEWAY EXIT 1/2 A MILE AWAY SO MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING REALLY SLOW(ABOUT 35MPH) HOPING WE COULD MAKE IT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A HUGE JERKING MOTION THAT FELT LIKE WE RAN INTO SOMETHING EVEN THOUGH WE DIDN'T. WE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND GOT A TOW TRUCK. IT ENDED UP BEING THE AC COMPRESSOR AND SERPENTINE BELT THAT NEEDED REPLACED, ALTHOUGH MAZDA WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS THEY STATED IN THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT IT HAD "DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP OR MATERIALS," THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY EXTENDED TO 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. MY MAZDA WAS 6 YEARS OLD AND HAD ONLY 48,000 MILES BUT WASN'T COVERED BECAUSE IT WAS A YEAR PASSED THE WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE MILES WERE STILL UNDER. WE ENDED UP PAYING $2,000.00 TO FIX IT AS WELL AS ANOTHER $300.00 TO STAY IN A MOTEL FOR 5 DAYS. EVER SINCE THE DAY THAT THE CAR BROKE AND HAD THE HUGE JERKING MOVEMENT, BY BACK HAS HURT EVERYDAY SINCE THEN. IT ESPECIALLY DIDN'T HELP THAT I WAS ALMOST 5 MONTHS PREGNANT AND ALTHOUGH NOTHING HAPPENED TO THE BABY, I'M HOPING THERE WAS NO PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY BACK SINCE I'VE NEVER HAD BACK PAIN OR PROBLEMS SINCE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. DRIVING EAST ACROSS THE BAY BRIDGE FROM SF, THE ENGINE MADE A WHEEZING NOISE. AFTER A MILE THE POWER DROPPED, AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY TRAVEL AT 30 MPH. NO ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TO WARN OF THIS, EVEN DURING THE EVENT. AT THIS POINT IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT IT NEEDED REPAIR ATTENTION, AND WE FOUND A MAZDA DEALER/REPAIR SHOP RELATIVELY CLOSE BY TO DRIVE IT TO. ONCE THEY HAD A CHANCE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEY REPORTED TO US THAT ENGINE 'SLUDGE' WAS TO BLAME. THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BEEN RUBBING, AND THE VVT ACTUATOR HAD BEEN COMPROMISED. TURBO GALLEYS WERE ALSO PLUGGED. IN JAN. OF THIS YEAR, MAZDA POSTED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CX-7'S TIMING CHAIN AND VVT. HOWEVER, THE DEALER INFORMED US AFTER CHECKING WITH MAZDA THAT WE WERE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE WARRANTY. GAPS IN OUR HISTORY OF REPAIR WAS THE GIVEN REASON. AFTER AN APPEAL, THE REP FROM MAZDA SAID THE HIGHEST AUTHORITY HAD REVIEWED THE CLAIM AND AGAIN DECLINED TO HELP. WE HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CX-7 OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. MANY OF THEM HAVE ALSO BEEN DENIED THE USE THE WARRANTY THAT MAZDA HAS EXTENDED.THIS IS A VAST AND SCARY PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING 65MPH ON THE I-15 FREEWAY IN CENTERVILLE UTAH AND THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WITH TREMENDOUS FORCE, THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AND WE WERE NOT NEAR AN OVER PASS, GLASS SHOT INTO THE CAR AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SOME ONE IN THE BACK SEAT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN BLASTED WITH GLASS. THERE WAS BROKEN GLASS FROM THE FRONT FLOOR AREA TO THE REAR CARGO AREA WITH MOST OF IT IN THE BACK SEAT. AFTER INSPECTION IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE GLASS THAT REMAINED WAS LIFTED UPWARD AWAY FROM THE ROOF. WE SEARCHED ON THE WEB AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A GOOD MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME DESCRIPTION THAT THE GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARD WITH MANY PIECES BLASTED INTO THE CAR. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF AN OBJECT HITTING THE SUN ROOF. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING NORTH BOUND WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS AT ON THE DRIVER CONSOLE, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR SHIFT FROM 3RD GEAR IN THE MIDDLE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DECREASE IN SPEED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE AC COMPRESSOR MADE A NOISE AND CEASED TO WORK. I NOTICED A STRANGE SMELL COMING FROM THE CAR FOLLOWED BY SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I PULLED OVER AND OPENED UP THE HOOD TO FIND SMOKE POURING OFF OF THE AC COMPRESSOR AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF SPARKS SHOOTING OFF OF IT. THIS INDECENT OCCURRED 4 MONTHS AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE AC COMPRESSOR RAN OUT. I'M NOT SURE WHY THIS ISN'T AN ISSUE THAT IS SUBJECT TO A RECALL, AS THERE WAS A VERY REAL DANGER OF A FIRE BREAKING OUT. *TR
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 95. THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE OPENED AT A COST OF $500 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY SUSPECTED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN. AFTER CONSULTING WITH MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THOMPSON MAZDA IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN AND THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. MAZDA HAD PROVIDE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE TIMING CHAIN FOR 7 YEARS OR 70,000 MILES. THE WARRANTY INDICATED THAT IF THERE WAS A TIMING CHAIN NOISE TO BRING INTO A MAZDA DEALER TO HAVE IT SERVICED UNDER THE WARRANTY. AT NO TIME WAS THERE A NOISE EXPERIENCED FROM THE ENGINE. MAZDA ALSO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE SERVICE RECORDS TO BE COVERED. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN APRIL 2011 WE ONLY HAD OUR SERVICE RECORDS AND THE CAR FAX SERVICE RECORDS. MAZDA INDICATED THAT BECAUSE THERE WAS A GAP IN THE SERVICE RECORDS, BETWEEN 31000 MILES (THE LAST RECORD SHOWN BY CAR FAX) AND 54000 MILES (WHEN WE HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE), THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE ENGINE. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT MAZDA KNEW THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE TIMING CHAIN AND HAD THEY BEEN PROACTIVE IN RECALLING THE VEHICLE AND REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A MORE SIGNIFICANT COST OF $7,200. *TR

NO, NOTHING BUT A EXTENSION WAS MAILED JAN 2012 TO ADVISE THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS EXTENDED FOR REPAIR. NO NOTICE WAS RECEIVED AND THE ADDRESS THEY HAD ON FILE WAS CORRECT. SO HERE WE SIT WITH A WORTHLESS POS THAT NOBODY WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. I WOULD RATHER HAVE IT SIT IN THE DRIVE WAY AND WE SHARE 1 VEHICLE THAN PUT 7000 INTO THIS CAR. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 8/23/12, MY HUSBAND NOTICED THAT THE A/C WAS NOT COOLING AND THAT THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A SQUEALING NOISE. HE STATED THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR WAS FAILING. FORTUNATELY FOR US, HE MADE IT HOME SAFELY. IF IT FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR (OR HE) COULD HAVE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE.WE HAD RECEIVED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY NOTICE FOR THE A/C COMPRESSOR. SO, WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP/SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR REPAIR. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT WE HAD JUST EXCEEDED OUR WARRANTY COVERAGE. OUR VEHICLE TURNED 5 YEARS OLD ON 6/30/12 AND HAS 60,598 MILES. HE STATED THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT THE MAZDA CORPORATE OFFICE TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE. THE CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT OUR DEALERSHIP AND TAKE THE MATTER UNDER REVIEW. MY MAZDA BEGAN MAKING A CLANGING SOUND AT IGNITION. I TOOK THE MAZDA TO SUSSMAN MAZDA IN ABINGTON, PA. I WAS TOLD THAT THOUGHT THE WARRANT 5 YRS/60,000 MILES HAD EXPIRED. HOWEVER, MAZDA HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE VVT ACTUATOR AND TIMING CHAIN DUE TO THIS BEING A KNOW PROBLEM. I WAS ASKED TO PRODUCE ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS ON THE CAR. I DID NOT HAVE EVERY SINGLE SERVICE RECORD AND WAS DENIED REPAIR BY MAZDA. I CALLED THE MAZDA CORPORATE OFFICE AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT MY CLAIM WAS DENIED. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR BUT I WAS DENIED. I CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT A SUPERVISOR WOULD CALL ME BACK ON 08/30/12. IT IS 10PM AND NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. IT APPEARS THAT MAZDA IS DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE NOT TO REPAIR A KNOWN DEFECT ON THE MAZDA CX7. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINT ONLINE OF MANY CX7 OWNERS GOING THROUGH THE SAME SITUATION THAT I HAVE. LATER, HAVING RESEARCHED THIS, IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND SERIOUSLY PREMATURE FOR THIS MILEAGE AND FOR A CAR DRIVEN MODERATELY AND ON WHICH ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED (BY THIS DEALER). I STATED MAZDA SHOULD STAND BEHIND THIS AND CONTRIBUTE ALL OR PART OF THE REPAIR BILL. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, DEALER STATES MAZDA REFUSED. *TR

THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TURBO HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO ENGINE SLUDGE. THE CAR HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES USING THE PROPER AMOUNT AND OIL WEIGHT. MAZDA HAD A RECALL INVOLVING THE TURBO AND THEY DID NOT HONOR IT BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT 1000 MILES OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN HE SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD WHINING NOISE THEN LOST POWER. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER, HE NOTICED IT WAS SMOKING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY AC (AIR CONDITIONING) ON, IT SUDDENLY STARTED BLOWING WARM AIR. THE CAR FILLED UP WITH A BURNT TIRE LIKE SMELL AND I QUICKLY TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONING OFF. AFTER GIVING IT A FEW MINUTES AND PARKING MY CAR ON A SHOULDER LANE, I TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONING BACK ON TO SEE IF IT'S GOING TO START WORKING AGAIN (WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING). MY AC WAS STILL BLOWING WARM AIR BUT NOW THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE WHAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE ENGINE ALONG WITH THE BURNT TIRE LIKE SMELL. I DECIDED TO RETURN HOME AND HAVE MY HUSBAND TAKE A LOOK AT IT BEFORE I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE TO FIX IT. AS MY HUSBAND OPEN THE HOOD OF THE CX7 AND I TURNED ON THE AC THERE APPEARED TO BE ALOT OF SPARKS COMING FROM THE AC AIR COMPRESSOR, RIGHT BESIDE THE ENGINE. THIS LOOKS AS IF IT CAN POTENTIONALLY SET ON FIRE. MAZDA DID SEND OUT A WARRENTY EXTENSION LETTER (SSP 81) BACK IN 2010 FOR THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION WAS COVERING VEHICLES UP TO 5 YEARS/60000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING OVER 20 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAULTY TURBO ENGINE CHARGER WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,590.
I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AC WAS NOT COLD. WHEN WE GOT HOME THE BELT WAS SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WE RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A GMC DEALERSHIP AT JUST UNDER 39K MILES. ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR MAYBE 4 MONTHS. TURNS OUT THE CAR NEEDED A WHOLE NEW COMPRESSOR FOR OVER $800. THE COMPRESSOR HAD LOCKED UP. I FIND THIS VERY CRAZY THAT A CAR WITH SUCH LITTLE MILEAGE WOULD HAVE SUCH A BIG PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. ON 7/11/12 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO THE FL. TURNPIKE WHEN HER MAZDA CX7, 07 ENGINE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. SHE WAS ON A ONE LANE ROAD WITH A BLIND SIDED CURVE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. A 18 WHEELER TRUCK WAS COMING UP BEHIND HER AND ALMOST REAR ENDED HER VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING MY WIFE CAR. AFTER A INVESTIGATION OF THE ENGINE PROBLEM I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS A BAD TIMING CHAIN THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF THE WAY IT DID. I CALLED THE MAZDA MANUFACTURE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM AND THAT'S WHY THEY SENT OUT LETTERS FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. THE ALSO STATED THAT THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PART IS IF I COULD SHOW RECORDS OF EVERY OIL CHANGE THAT WAS DONE ON THE CAR FROM THE TIME OF PURCHASE. BEING THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED I AM NOT ABLE TO SHOW ALL THE OIL CHANGE RECORDS THEY REQUEST. THE POINT IS THAT THE MANUFACTURE RECOGNIZED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIMING CHAIN. THEY SHOULD BE DOING A IMMEDIATE RECALL ON THE CAR TO FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED..IF YOU CAN I ASK YOU TO PLEASE HELP WITH THIS MATTER.. *TR
VTT TIMING CHAIN BROKE ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT IF THE CAR HAD BEEN MOBILE. MAZDA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS ENGINE COMPONENT IS FAULTY, BECAUSE THEY ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION TO 72,000 MILES IN JANUARY 2012. THIS SORT OF ENGINE FAILURE COULD LEAD, AND MAY HAVE ALREADY LEAD TO NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS IF THEY VEHICLE STALLS WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE OR OTHER ROADWAYS. MAZDA SHOULD RECALL THE ENGINE PART AND REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE. *TR
THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE ACCELERATION ISSUES AND STARTED SMOKING LIKE BURNT RUBBER. MAZDA HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 60,000 MILES BUT REFUSES TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR BEYOND THAT MILEAGE. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE MOST RECENT TURBO FAILURE CAUSED THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS UNUSUAL FOR THIS FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRST TURBO FAILED AT 33,000 MILES, THE SECOND AT 58,000 MILES AND THE THIRD AT 83,000. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE TURBOS WERE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I CALLED A MAZDA CAR DEALERSHIP TO LET THE KNOW I RECEIVE A RECALL LETTER AND TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY MAZDA CX7, THE SERVICE MAN SAID IF THE CAR WAS NOT MAKING ANY NOISE OR SMOKING I DIDN'T NEED TO BRING THE CAR IN. AFTER WEEKS BY AFTER TAKING THE SERVICE MAN ADVISE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN MY CX7 MAZDA WITH MY 6 MONTH OLD GRANDBABY IN THE BACK SEAT ALL OF A SUDDEN PRESSING ON THE GAS, THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF WITHOUT ANY KIND OF WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY; THIS HIGHWAY IS NORMALLY VERY BUSY ESPECIALLY WITH 18 WHEELERS, LUCKILY THERE WAS ENOUGH POWER LEFT FOR ME TO PULL OVER OUT THE HIGHWAY BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. AFTER WAITING FOR TOW TRUCK DRIVER IN THE HEAT WITH NO AC AND A 6 MONTH OLD BABY CAR WAS TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS CLOSED. THE NEXT DAY SERVICEMAN CALLS ME AND TELLS ME THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE, DESTROYED THE ENGINE AND IT WAS GOING TO COST $4000 TO BE REPAIRED,I HAD TO BRING RECEIPTS FOR OIL CHANGES, THERE WAS NO SLUDGE FOUND; MAZDA OFFERED $1000 AS A GOOD GESTURE, IF THEY HAD FOUND SLUDGE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE OFFERED THAT. MY CAR IS STILL THERE; I CAN'T GET THE CAR OUT BECAUSE I HAVE TO MAKE CAR PAYMENTS AND RENT CARS TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE BEFORE SOMEONE STEPS UP AND HAVE MAZDA CORP HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE MALFUNCTION PARTS. MY 2007 CX-7 STARTED MAKING A LOUD BANGING NOISE WHEN I STARTED IT (MAY 7,2012). I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY TIMING CHAIN & ACTUATOR (VVT) AND IT WOULD TAKE $1350 TO REPAIR. I PAID THE MONEY AND IT WAS FIXED IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. ON JUNE 7TH,2012 I STARTED TO REALIZE THAT MY AC WAS NOT WORKING, BUT HAD DECIDED TO WAIT A LITTLE BIT TO HAVE IT FIXED BECAUSE I WAS STILL HURTING FINANCIALLY FROM THE LAST FIX A MONTH AGO. THAN ON JUNE 9TH, 2012, I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO EXPLODE. I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP IS AT LEAST 50 MILES AWAY. SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME MY TURBO IS BLOWN. THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WANTS $80 TO DIAGNOSE IT AND $5000 TO FIX IT (THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE MY TOWING FEES AND THE COST OF FIXING THE AC). I'VE READ ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND EVERYONE IS SAYING SLUDGE BUILD UP AND MAZDA WANTS THE RECEIPTS FOR ALL OF THEIR OIL CHANGES. I HAVE ALL MY RECEIPTS FOR THE SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES THAT I HAVE HAD DONE TO THE VEHICLE ON TIME (NOT TO MENTION ONLY FILLING THE CAR WITH PREMIUM GAS). UNFORTUNATELY, MY CAR IS UP TO 100,000 MILES AND THEY ONLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO WHAT...70K? SO BASICALLY I HAVE A CAR THAT I PAID $16K FOR AND IS COMPLETELY USELESS TO ME ONLY AFTER 100K MILES. FROM WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED VVT'S ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GO OUT UNTIL WHAT 250K-300K MILES? AND IT SEEMS A BIT RIDICULOUS FOR THE TURBO TO GO OUT AFTER 100K MILES.... *TR
