WHINING SOUND WHEN GAS PEDAL IS COMPRESSED, FORM 30 - 65 MPH, AT TIMES ,LOSS OF POWER. *TR
THE GASKET ON THE OIL COOLERS ON THESE CARS ARE DEFECTIVE. I HAVE AN OIL LEAK FROM THIS GASKET THAT PUTS ME AT RISK FOR AN ENGINE BLOWOUT. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE OIL COOLER AT A COST OF $500+ BECAUSE THE GASKET CAN'T BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY. MAZDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS BEFORE PEOPLE GET STRANDED ON THE ROAD. IF YOU SEARCH THIS OIL LEAK ONLINE, YOU FIND DOZENS OF POSTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER CX-7 OWNERS. THIS IS A CROSSOVER SUV GEARED TOWARDS FAMILIES. I DRIVE MY KIDS AROUND IN IT AND NOW AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR. *TR
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 - 60 MPH ON AN EXTREMELY COLD (-20) MORNING. TRIED TO BRAKE AND BRAKE IS VERY HARD AND DOES NOT STOP. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES, IT GRABS AND BRAKES PROPERLY. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN AN APPROXIMATE 30 DAY PERIOD (ALL DURING EXTREME COLD). TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND THE ARTICLES ABOUT THE NHTSA OPENING AN INVESTIGATION INTO BRAKING PROBLEMS ON THE MAZDA CX-9 THAT SOUND IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. *TR
I HAD SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AC COMPRESSOR WAS BURNING UP, AND ENTIRE AC SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ONLY FOR THE AC TO STOP OUTPUTTING COOL AIR ON HOT DAYS UNLESS I'M DRIVING OVER 55 MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHITE SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE TAIL PIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE AND THAT THE TURBO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000. UPDATED 12/31/13*CN THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE TURBO FAILED DUE LACK OF MAINTENANCE AND NOT ENOUGH OIL CHANGES.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AS THE TURBO STOPPED WORKING. THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THE TURBO BROKE DUE TO SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE. THERE WAS A LOT OF SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE, HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES. IT SEEMS THAT THE MEDIAN ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS HOTTER THAN IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE SPECIFIED OIL IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THIS RESULTS IN OIL BURNING AND STICKING TO THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. EVENTUALLY A PIECE OF "SLUDGE" WILL COME LOOSE AND CLOG THE OIL TUBE TO THE TURBO, RESULTING IN THE TURBO UNIT OVERHEATING AND BREAKING. MAZDA SEEMS TO BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS THEY WERE PRESSURED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS VERY SERIOUS AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THE TURBO UNIT AND CLARIFICATION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. MAZDA HAS YET TO AGREE TO FIX THE TURBO AND "SLUDGE" IN MY ENGINE. THEY ARE STILL INSISTING THAT I DID NOT MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE WELL. FYI- I WAS A CAR DESIGNER WITH HONDA/ACURA FOR 4 YEARS WHO DESIGNED THE 2009 - 2012 MDX. I AM STATING THIS BECAUSE I KNOW SUV'S AND HOW TO MAINTAIN THEM VERY WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED, OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE ENGINE OIL COOLER AND ENGINE COVER WERE BOTH REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 25MPH WHEN I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. I PULLED OVER AND POPPED THE HOOD AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE AC COMPRESSOR. IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS COMMON FOR THIS MODEL. MAZDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT OF COURSE MINE EXPIRED THIS YEAR. IT'S JUST A SHAME THAT MY CAR HAS LESS THEN 40K MILES AND MAZDA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS AN INFERIOR PART, BUT WONT HELP COVER THE COST. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS PART FAILING AND BREAKING THE SERPENTINE BELT CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE ALL POWER. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A RECALL. IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING WHILE ON A HIGHWAY OR TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION. *TR
TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT . MAZDA IS TRYING TO SAY IT SLUDGE FROM POOR MAINTENANCE . EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE ALL RECEIPTS SINCE WE OWNED IT FOR OIL CHANGES. WE JUST PURCHASE THIS CX7 IN AUGUST OF 2012 WITH ALMOST 28000 MILES. NOW A YEAR LATER AND 40000 MILES IT NEEDS A MOTOR. *TR
AIR CONDITIONING BEGAN BLOWING HOT AIR. MANY COMPLAINTS LOGGED ONLINE FOR THIS YEAR VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE. RECOMMENDATION WAS TO CONTACT MAZDA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. THEY PROVIDED A FILE NUMBER AND INFORMED I NEEDED TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRM THE ISSUE WAS THE COMPRESSOR. THE DEALERSHIP DID CONFIRM THE COMPRESSOR AND BELT NEED REPLACED. CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NUMBER BACK AND THE APPEAL/COMPLAIN PROCESS BEGAN TO SEE IF THEY WOULD PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN REPLACING THE COMPRESSOR AND BELT SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED AND ONLY HAS 28,000 MILES. WAS INFORMED 2 DAYS LATER THAT THE DECISION WAS THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. VERY DISCOURAGED THAT A CORPORATION WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEY VEHICLE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES AND THE FACT THAT THEY KNOW THIS VEHICLE HAS THESE ISSUES. I COULD UNDERSTAND IF THE VEHICLE HAD 60,000 MILES BUT THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,262. *TR
MAZDA GOT STUCK AND HAD NO POWER THE FIRST TIME SECOND TIME HAPPENED OCTOBER 9,2013 CAR KEPT SHUTTING OFF AND FINALLY COULD NOT MOVE. TURBO ONCE AGAIN TWICE IN 5 MONTHS AND I ONLY HAD THIS PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FOR 7 MONTHS. *TR
THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ON MY 2008 MAZDA CX-7 CRACKED, CAUSING THE PULLEY ASSEMBLY TO FREEZE UP. AS A RESULT, THE PULLEY NO LONGER TURNED ON THE SERPENTINE BELT AND MADE A LOUD NOISE, AND THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO WORK. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT TO THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR, OUT OF CONCERN THAT DAMAGE TO THE BELT MIGHT OCCUR. IN REVIEWING MY FILES LATER, I FOUND AN AUGUST 2010 NOTICE FROM MAZDA ADVISING ME THAT THE MODEL YEAR OF MY CAR MIGHT HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT THE WARRANTY COVERAGE WOULD BE EXTENDED TO 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. IT FURTHER STATED THAT NO ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN UNLESS I WAS EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH THIS COMPONENT OF MY CAR, WHICH I WASN'T AT THAT TIME. UNFORTUNATELY, MY PROBLEM DID NOT EMERGE UNTIL NOW, AND IS NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION SINCE I NOW HAVE 75000 MILES ON MY CAR. HOWEVER, AIR CONDITIONER UNITS NORMALLY DO NOT FAIL ON CARS OF THIS AGE AND THE NOTICE FROM MAZDA MAKES IT CLEAR THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT MAZDA SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IN MY CAR. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45MPH, EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. CEL CAME ON AND TROUBLE P3001 WAS THE CODE DISPLAY ON HANDHELD READER. CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, DEALER STATES SEVERAL COMPONENTS WITHIN ENGINE HAVE FAILED AND MAZDA HAS NO RESPONSIBILITY OVER FAILURES SINCE I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM PRODUCTION YEARS 2007 AND 2008 ARE PLAGUED WITH PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
SO THIS IS MY COMPLAINT AND STORY SO WE WENT TO FLORIDA LIKE A WEEK AND CAME BACK TO TEXAS. WHEN WE GOT BACK HOME I STARTED TO HEAR AN NOISE ON THE ENGINE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT WASN'T NORMAL IT SOUNDED LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK. SO THE NEXT DAY I HAD TO GO TO WORK AND I WAS COMING BACK HOME THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH CONTINUOUSLY AND CAR STARTED TO SHAKE SO I DROVE IT TO A AUTO PARTS STORE, SO THEY CAN CHECK THE CODE AND THEY SAID IT WAS A PISTON 3 MISFIRE. I TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AGAIN AND HE SAID THE SPARK PLUG HAD OIL AND HE SAID THAT WAS NOT A GOOD SIGN HE SAID IT MIGHT BE THE ENGINE OR A BENT VALVE. FIRST OF ALL THIS IS OUR ONLY CAR AND DON'T HAVE MONEY TO FIX IT. A USE ENGINE COST 3,000 AND UP AND IF ITS THE HEAD IT COST LIKE 1900 AND I'VE BEEN READING A LOT OF BAD REVIEWS OF THIS CAR I REALLY NEED HELP I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX MY CAR WE ARE A FAMILY OF 5. *TR

EARLIER THAT DAY I GOT MY OIL CHANGED ON MY LUNCH BREAK AT WORK. I DRIVE BACK TO WORK MY CAR SITS IN THE PARKING LOT AND I LEAVE A FEW HOURS LATER WELL MY CAR IT WAS MAKING A REALLY LOUD NOISE IT SOUNDED LIKE A HELICOPTER I LIVE ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY SO I FIGURED IF I DRIVE SLOW ENOUGH I MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. AS I WAS GOING UP A HILL THE CAR START TO DECELERATE SO IM LIKE OK MAYBE I NEED TO GO SLOWER NO I GET UP OVER THE HILL AND AM GOING DOWN THE HILL AND THE CAR JUST DIES THERE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I GET IT TOWED TO MAZDA THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE I FIND OUT I HAVE A POWERTRAIN WARRENTY UNTIL 60,000 MILES I ONLY HAVE 54,000 MILES ON IT SO THEY TOW IT UNDER MY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. NOW MY CAR HAS BEEN THERE FOR A MONTH AND COME TO FIND OUT MY TIMING CHAIN WENT ON IT CAUSING A DOMINO EFFECT ON IT AND MAKING THE ENGINE GO. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS 8 GRAND TO FIX MY CAR BECAUSE MAZDA DENIED MY CLAIM DUE TO "ENGINE SLUDGE" WHICH AT THIS LOW OF MILES AND ME PERFORMING REGULAR OIL CHANGES THEY CONSIDERED "LACK OF MAINTANCE" BECAUSE I COULDNT PROVE IT. *TR
HAD TO REPLACE THE A/C COMPRESSOR THAT WENT BAD, WAS A RECALL ON THEM BUT MY WARRANTY WAS OUT. THEN NOW 11/8/13 I AM BEING TOLD THAT MY EGR VALVE IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT SO HAPPENS GUESS WHAT THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY HAS RAN OUT. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THE A/C COMPRESSOR AND NOW THE EGR VALVE. *TR
THE VEHICLE IS A 2008 MAZDA CX-7 BOUGHT AS A PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED FROM MAZDA DEALER IN RAMSEY, NJ. IT HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND I TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER NEAR MY WORK (COLMAR, PA) AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CODE P0401, EGR VALVE FAILURE. WITH UNDER 40K I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS TO FAIL AND THE REPAIR COST WAS $718. (DIAGNOSIS, PARTS AND LABOR). I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND SAW THAT IT IS A FREQUENT ISSUE WITH PEOPLE HAVING MUCH NEWER CAR THAN MINE. OBVIOUSLY IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD TO PAY FROM MY POCKET. BUT I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE REPAIR AS THE NEXT DAY THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. IT COMES ON IN THE MORNING AND STAYS ON INTERMITTENTLY. IT FINALLY GOES AWAY AFTER 15-20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. I PLAN TO GO TO THE DEALER TOMORROW TO SEE IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT RESULTED DURING YESTERDAY'S REPAIR. *TR
FIRST THE TURBO WENT OUT AND NOW THE ENGINE!!! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH DETERMINED THAT OIL SLUDGE WAS IN THE TURBO LINES. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TURBO MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED BE REPLACED. THE DEALER DID NOT STATE HOW THE OIL ENTERED THE TURBO LINES. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,445.
THE POWER STEERING FAILED. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER CAR TO SAFE STOP ON SIDE OF ROAD. THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS CUT BY THE END OF THE CRANKSHAFT AT THE END OF THE ENGINE AND ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT CAUSING THE PUMP TO STOP AND BURN UP. THE HOSE WAS CUT BY LONG-TERM RUBBING BY THE END OF THE CRANKSHAFT THAT SPINS OUTSIDE THE ENGINE COVER. THE HOSE IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE SHAFT THAT SPINS. IT SLICED INTO IT CAUSING A LEAK. *TR
THE OIL COOLER ABOVE THE FILTER IS LEAKING VERY BAD, AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE GASKET,BUT I HAD NO PRIOR LEAKS BEFORE AND IT WAS HARD TO START MY VEHICLE. YOU CAN'T JUST BUY THE GASKET FOR THE COOLER, UNLESS IT'S THE NEWER SILVER OIL COOLER, THE PART ALONE IS AT LEAST $400, BUT THERE SEEMS TO A FREQUENT ISSUE OF THIS WITH MANY OTHERS, ON THE 2008 MAZDA CX-7. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TOOK IT TO DEALER...EGR VALUE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED...WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. ABOUT $700 OR PART...WONDERING IF THERE IS RECALL ON PART. READING FORUM AND SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH OTHERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AS THE EMISSIONS GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,600.
WHILE CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE FOR A CUSTOMER THE VALVE STEM BROKE. THIS WAS DUE TO A DEGRADED VALVE STEM. THE COST TO REPAIR IT WAS $110.15. *TR
ON MY WAY TO WORK I GLANCED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT FROM BEHIND MY CAR. I LOOKED AT MY GAUGES AND NOTICED THAT MY BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON AND MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ALL THE WAY ON HOT. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND, AS I PULLED OVER MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND CALLED MY HUSBAND (WHO OWNS A COLLISION REPAIR SHOP AND A TOW TRUCK) AND TOLD HIM TO COME AND GET ME AND MY DISABLED CAR. AS I SAT IN MY CAR WAITING, A POLICE OFFICER CAME TO CHECK THAT I WAS O.K. THE OFFICER SAT IN HIS CAR BEHIND ME FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEN BACKED OUT AND LEFT. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF THE OFFICER LEAVING A GENTLEMAN AND HIS WIFE PULLED OVER A GOOD WAY UP IN FRONT OF MY CAR. THE GENTLEMAN GOT OUT OF HIS CAR AND STARTED RUNNING TO ME SHOUTING GET OUT, GET OUT, YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE!? THE GENTLEMAN CALLED 911 TO SUMMON THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. AS WE WAITED FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT A HIGHWAY PATROL ASSISTANCE VEHICLE PULLED OVER BECAUSE THEY HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. MY HUSBAND ARRIVED AND TOOK THE CAR BACK TO HIS PLACE OF BUSINESS. OUR INSURANCE WAS COMPANY WAS CALLED AND THEY SENT A CLAIMS ADJUSTER OUT TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE. OUR CLAIMS ADJUSTER DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE HAD STARTED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HAD CAUSED $3,900.00 IN DAMAGE TO THE MECHANICALS OF THE CAR. *TR

OUR VEHICLE IS PARKED IN LARGE MCDONALD'S LOT NEAR THE BACK OUT OF THE WAY, RELATIVELY SAFE LOCATION...CLLD AND SPOKE W/ [XXX] AT WAL-MART. HE OFFERED TO COME LOOK AT THE CAR AFTER WORK-W/IN 15 MIN HE WAS THERE. BECAUSE ENGINE NOT TURNING OVER, HE AT FIRST WAS CONCERNED ENGINE MAY HAVE SEIZED UP/HEAD GASKET BLEW ETC. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE US TO AIRPORT IN FT WAYNE, HAD OUR CAR TOWED TO HIS REPAIR SHOP, ACCESSED THE PROBLEM AREA AND ADVISED ME WHAT PART TO ORDER.THE MAN IS A SAINT. WE SPENT 4 HOURS AT AIRPORT UNTIL ENTERPRISE TOOK MERCY ON US AND RENTED US A CAR EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAVE A DEBIT VISA. WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH, THE PRESSURE OR HIGH AC AIR PRESSURE DROPS AND HOT AIR COMES OUT. I ALSO EXPERIENCED BURNING SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. I BOUGHT THE CAR AT 30K MILES IN NOVEMBER OF 2011. I HAVE SINCE DRIVEN 15K MILES ON IT. I NOTICED A CLICK IN THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND I NEEDED TO GET A 45K MILE MAINTENANCE ON IT. I TOLD THEM THE CLICKING WAS BOTHERING ME. HAD 45,000 MILE SERVICE PERFORMED. DEALERSHIP SERVICE TECH ALSO PROVIDED SERVICE HISTORY FROM PREVIOUS OWNER AND VERIFIED IT WAS SERVICED REGULARLY. SERVICE TECH CONFIRMED THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY UNLESS IT WAS A CA EMISSION VEHICLE. SERVICE TECHNICIAN COMMENTED I WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT RESULT IN A MORE CATASTROPHIC EVENT (FIRE, TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE). HE ALSO COMMENTED THERE IS "A LOT OF STRESS ON MOUNT #3" AND IT WAS HARD TO FIND THE REPLACEMENT PART. HE ACKNOWLEDGED TURBO ISSUES, BUT CLAIMS MY TURBO IS OKAY (FOR NOW). MAZDA NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THESE WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED ENGINE ISSUES (EGR VALVE, ENGINE MOUNTS, TURBO CHARGERS, COMPRESSORS) BEFORE THERE IS FURTHER LOSS OF VEHICLES/LIFE. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR ON FEBRUARY 19, 2011 WITH AROUND 26,000 MILES ON IT. ON JANUARY 30, 2012 (AROUND 36,000 MILES) THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND IT CAME BACK THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS BAD. WE HAD THAT REPLACED, BUT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THAT MECHANIC TOLD US WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A MAZDA DEALER AND THAT IF IT WAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE POWERTRAIN, IT SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY. WE WERE HAPPY TO HEAR THAT INDEED IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT MAZDA MOST LIKELY WOULD COVER ALL COSTS. A DAY LATER THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL US THAT MAZDA NEEDED TO SEE PROOF OF MAINTENANCE ON THE OIL CHANGES, AS THERE WAS A "SLUDGE BUILDUP." WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED AS REQUIRED, BUT WERE TOLD THAT MAZDA MAY NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AFTER ALL...SEEMS IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU DID EVERYTHING RIGHT OR NOT, MAZDA SEEMS TO BE DENYING THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2011 OUR 2008 MAZDA CX-7 EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY: THE ENGINE HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS OR MADE ANY UNUSUAL NOISES, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS HAD SIGNALED A PROBLEM, AND WE HAD MADE OIL AND OIL FILTER CHANGES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. THE DRIVER'S SEAT UNDER WELDING WHICH ATTACHES THE CHAIR TO THE BODY OF THE CAR, UNDER THE SEAT, HAS BECOME DETACHED FOR NO KNOWN REASON. 2008 MADZA CX-7 4 CYL TURBO. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON JULY 05 2011 WITH 89K MILES. THE NEXT DAY A/C COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP. IT'S WAS FIXED WITH A BRAND NEW COMPRESSSOR, BUT BLOW SEMI COLD AND HOT WHILE ON COLD MODE. A RECALL SHOULD BE IN ORDER AS AMERICANS ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF BY MADZA. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH A SPIDER CRAWLED ON HIM AND HE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA RECALL 11V134000, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING NOR WAS IT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE SPIDERS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THERE WERE SEVERAL SPIDERS AND SPIDER WEBS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 55,200.
I HAVE A 2008 CX-7 WITH A FAILED EGR VALVE. THEY REFUSE TO COVER THIS PART UNDER MY POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY AN EMISSIONS FAILURE. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY'S WEBSITE AND IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS ARE REQUIRED TO DESIGN AND BUILD THEIR VEHICLES TO MEET EMISSION STANDARDS FOR THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE VEHICLE SPECIFIED BY LAW. UNDER SECTION 207 OF THE CLEAN AIR ACT, IF EPA DETERMINES THAT A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF VEHICLES IN A CLASS OR CATEGORY DO NOT MEET EMISSION STANDARDS IN ACTUAL USE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND USED, EPA CAN REQUIRE THE MANUFACTURER TO RECALL AND FIX THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. MY CAR HAS LESS THEN 30,000 MILE ON IT AND THE ERG VALVE SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT ALREADY. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY $712 TO REPLACE A PART THAT DOES NOT MEET EMISSION STANDARDS SET FORTH BY CALIFORNIA. 2008 MAZDA CX-7WITH 40,925 MILES. AM DISABLED, RETIRED MILITARY SO TO SAVE MONEY I PEFORM OWN OIL CHANGES APPROXIMATELY EVERY 5000 TO 7500 MILES DEPENDING ON DRIVING CONDITIONS. ALWAS NEED TO ADD OIL IN BETWEEN CHANGES THOUGH NO LEAK FOUND. WAS TOLD BY MAZDA SERVICE WITHIN FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLES THAT THE TURBO GETS EXTREMELY HOT AND BURNS OFF OIL. JUST BEFORE MILEAGE STATED ABOVE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND ENGINE LOST POWER. NO OTHER INDICATIONS LEADING UP TO THIS. HANDHELDOBCD-II COMPUTER CHECK SHOWED CODE P0101 (MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR). CHECKED CX-7 ON-LINE FORUMS AND IN LESS THAN 1/2 AN HOUR FOUND OVER 25 COMPLAINTS (STOPPED SEARCHING AT THIS POINT) WITH SAME PROBLEM I HAVE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE OUTCOMES WERE SCARY. AS PER SEVERAL FORUMS, MAZDA TELLS CUSTOMERS, AS I WAS ALSO TOLD, THAT THE TURBO AND BEARINGS BAD, SAID SLUDGE IN ENGINE BREACHES WARRANTY DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE PROOF AND DENIES TO HONOR WARRANTY. SAY CAR NEEDS A REBUILT OR NEW ENGINE AND TURBO INSTALLED AND I MUST PAY $7K - $9K FOR A REBUILT ENGINE. NOW OWE OVER $18K ON A CAR THAT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL DONE ON IT FOR THIS PROBLEM. SPOKE WIH MAZDA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AD THEY TOLD ME THAT THE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER'S (DSM) DECISION IS FINAL, AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. THEN ASKED MY DEALER FOR DSM PHONE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T LET ME HAVE IT, BUT SAID HE WAS GOING TO BE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP THAT DAY TO VERIFY ANOTHER WARRANTY CLAIM DENIAL AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE HIM CALL ME. FILED ON-LINE COMPLAINT WITH BBB AND AM AWAIING INFO FROM THEM TO DISCUSS MEDIATION AND IF THAT FAILS ARBITRATION. *TR
THERE WAS A KNOCKING ALMOST AS IF THE CAR WAS A DIESEL, BROUGHT THE CAR TO MILFORD MAZDA IN MILFORD CT AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE A MONTH EARLIER AT BOBS IN MILFORD CT. THE MAZDA DEALER REPLACED THE VVT DECEMBER 2012 THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND I TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY GET A CODE FOR CAMSHAFT, I BRING THE CAR TO MAZDA WHO TELLS ME UPON ARRIVAL WITH OUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY ARE SURE THERE IS SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE, YEA SAME STORY EVERYONE ELSE GETS. I FAITHFULLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED EVERY 5,0000 MILES MAX AS THIS WAS DRILLED IN MY HEAD GROWING UP FROM MY DAD. APPROXIMATELY SOME TIME IN MARCH I WAS DRIVING TO WORK I GET THIS LOUD WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER THE TURBO WENT. I HAVE A NEW TURBO INSTALLED AND STILL SUPPOSEDLY NEED ANOTHER VVT JUST 2 YEARS AFTER THEY REPLACED THIS PART AND NOW THERE IS A HUMMING/WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR NOT TO MENTION (2) TIE RODS ARE BAD. THIS CAR IS NO DOUBT A PIECE OF CRAP THAT I STILL OWE 13K ON AND MAZDA CORPORATE WILL NOT EVEN RETURN MY CALL. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE WITH ALL THE SAME COMPLAINTS. *TR
I PURCHASED A MAZDA CX-7 NEW IN 2008. I RECENTLY EXPERIENCE TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE WHILE RIDING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER. THE MAZDA DEALER LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND CONTACTED THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND MAZDA ON THIS ISSUE, MAZDA STATED THERE WAS "SLUDGE" IN THE ENGINE AND THAT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THEY STATED THIS MUST'VE BEEN CAUSED BY OWNER MAINTENANCE, HOWEVER, I HAVE MAINTAINED THE CAR AS STATED IN THE MANUAL. THE COMPANY STATED WE NEED TO PRODUCE COPIES OF ALL OF OUR OIL CHANGES SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DATES/MILEAGE AT THE OIL CHANGE. WE DID NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION, HOWEVER MANY COMPLAINANTS WHO HAVE PRODUCED THE OIL CHANGE HISTORY ARE STILL DENIED WARRANTY CLAIMS. THIS ISSUE OF SLUDGE IS NOT ONLY CAUSES BY THE OWNER, BUT ALSO CAUSED BY MANUFACTURED DEFECTS AS IN THE TOYOTA CASE. MANY OTHER MAZDA OWNERS AND MECHANICS HAVE STATED THE TURBO CHARGING IN THE NEW MAZDA CX-7 HAS STARTED TO "COOK" THE OIL TOO FAST AND THIS CAUSES THE SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE, HOWEVER MAZDA WILL NOT OWN UP TO THIS DEFECT AND HONOR THE WARRANTY AND THIS VEHICLE. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN SITED ISSUES OF THE TIMING CHAIN CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE HOWEVER MAZDA WOULD NOT LOOK AT ANY OTHER ISSUES. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY AND A DEFECT OF THE ENGINE GOING OUT SHOULD BE COVERED. MAZDA IS ILLEGALLY MAKING THE ALLEGATION ABOUT THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE ENGINE FAILURE IN A CAR ONLY TWO YEARS OLD, ONLY TO NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A PROBLEM IT HAS CAUSED. PLEASE HELP ME AND OTHER MAZDA OWNERS CORRECT THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE CURRENTLY MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS AGAINST MAZDA AND MANY VEHICLE OWNERS SUCH AS MYSELF ARE WITHOUT A VEHICLE WHILE IN LITIGATION WITH THIS ISSUE. THE REPAIRS WOULD COST OVER $7000.
