TAKATA RECALL LACK OF REPLACEMENT PARTS PROHIBITS USE PASSENGER SEATS UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THIS PLACES AN UNDUE BURDEN ON VEHICLE OWNERS AND LIMITS THE PASSENGER CARRYING CAPACITY UNDER WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD. GOING AGAINST THIS MANDATE IMPACTS TERMS OF VEHICLE INSURANCE POLICY. TAKATA RECALL: ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS, AND IT'S A REAL HARDSHIP WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS IN MY PRIMARY AUTOMOBILE. I AM IN A CARPOOL TO DRIVE MY CHILD AND NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN TO SCHOOL, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO SO WITHOUT HAVING SOMEONE IN THE FRONT SEAT. I TRIED TO CALL A DEALER AT MAZDA BUT THEY DO NOT CALL ME BACK FOR THE RECALL. I WILL TRY AGAIN BUT I THINK THEY GOING TO CHARGED ME. I CAN'T AFFORD IT. HOW CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE? I CAN'T DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE FRONT LIGHT HAS FOG INSIDE AND I CAN'T BARELY SEE. I CAN'T STOP QUICK BECAUSE THE BREAK ARE BAD AND TREMBLING THE WHOLE CAR INCLUDING THE WHEEL. THE AIR BAGS ON THE COMPUTER SIGNAL IS ON ALL THE TIME AS WELL FOR THE LIGHT. THE BREAKS ARE REALLY BAD ! MOST OF THE TIME ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS AN UNSAFE CAR. SYSTEM IS NOT RELIABLE. I WANT TO GET RIDE OF THIS DANGEROUS CAR ASAP.
MAZDA ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THE A/C COMPRESSOR BECAUSE OF A KNOWN PROBLEM. MY COMPRESSOR BROKE AFTER THIS EXTENSION. IT CREATED A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE CLUTCH BROKE OFF OF THE COMPRESSOR CAUSE SPARKS TO FLY FROM THE LOOSE RUBBING METAL. SPARKS WERE NOT CAUSED FROM ELECTRIC ARC. WHEN THE CLUTCH ORIGINALLY SEIZED THE ENGINE / COMPRESSOR BEGAN TO SMOKE. I TURNED OFF THE AC AND DROVE HOME. UPON DRIVING THE CAR TO TO THE REPAIR SHOP WITH THE AC OFF, THE CLUTCH SEPARATED AND BEGAN SPARKING. THIS CLUTCH COULD HAVE SEPARATED AND SHOT LIKE A PROJECTILE. AC COMPRESSOR BROKE WHILE ON HIGHWAY. I HAVE THE OLD PART SHOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IT.

CAR HAD SEVERE OIL LEAK FOUND DURING AN OIL CHANGE WITH NO OIL LEFT IN THE CAR; HOWEVER THERE WAS NEVER OIL ON THE GROUND - I PARK IN THE GARAGE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THEY DID THE DYE TEST AND FOUND THE LEAK NEAR THE OIL COOLER FROM THE SEAL/GASKET. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE PART AND IT APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON AFTER 80K MILES FROM MY SEARCHES ONLINE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
THE OEM BULBS IN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE TOO HOT AND AFTER SOME TIME THE BULBS BURN THROUGH THE PLASTIC, CAUSING THE BRAKE LENSES TO GET CLOUDY, THE PLASTIC TO MELT ONTO THE BULB, AND THE RED TINT TO FADE IN THE BRAKE LIGHTS. * ENGINE ISSUES WHEN THE A/C COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THIS HAPPENED AROUND 36K MILES WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY. WE HAD TO COAST INTO THE NEXT EXIT. * ENGINE KNOCKING ISSUES. THEY STILL PERSIST AND STARTED AROUND 50K MILES. * ENGINE RESISTANCE. ALONGSIDE THE KNOCKING THERE SEEMS TO BE A GOOD AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE WHEN TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF OF THE PEDAL FOR ACCELERATION. * THEY ADDED A FACTORY EXTENSION TO THE RADIO FOR THE IPOD. EVER SINCE THEY INSTALLED THIS, THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN OVERLOADED. - HEADLIGHTS GO OUT FREQUENTLY. THIS CONCERNS ME AS MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR AND I WOULDN'T WANT BOTH TO GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. - THE BATTERY WON'T HOLD A CHARGE IF NOT DRIVEN FOR A FEW DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE RADIO HAS A 'PARASITIC DRAW' ON THE BATTERY CAUSING THESE ISSUES, BUT REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR INSTALLATION. THEIR SOLUTION IS TO CHARGE $800+ FOR A NEW HEAD UNIT, WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS SINCE I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO THE FACTORY HEAD UNIT.
NOV. 2015 I WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT ON I435 IN WHICH THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHICH I INHALED THE GAS, WHICH DISORIENTED ME FOR AWHILE. AFTER REGAINING MY SENSES DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.

THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE TWO REPAIRS WERE SEPARATE FROM THE STEERING RECALL. THE VIN WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V356000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY TAILPIPE WHEN IT IDLES. I ALSO HAVE A BURNING OIL SMELL IN MY CAR. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS WHEN I GET INTO MY CAR. JUST REALIZED AFTER CHANGING BACK LIGHT THAT BOTH SIDE OF REAR LIGHTS HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM , LIGHT BULBS ARE GETTING EXTREMELY HOT DURING USING AND THIS BURNT THE PLASTIC PART THAT IS PART OF THE REAR LIGHTS. *TR
ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 4, 2015, I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 MAZDA CX-7 AND I STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE OFF WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, MY CAR HESITATED AND WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDDLE A LITTLE MORE, IT STILL HESITATED THEN FINALLY TOOK OFF. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD POPPING NOISE, AND THEN THICK, HEAVY WHITE SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE TAILPIPE. THE WHITE SMOKE THEN STARTED FLOWING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AND IT STARTED TO COME INTO THE CAR THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IT WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO GEAR, SO I PUSHED THE PARKING BREAK, AND IT FINALLY STOPPED. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO GRAB MY PURSE, I SAW FIRE COMING THROUGH THE BOTTOM AIR VENTS ( THE ONES THAT BLOW AIR ON YOUR FEET) SO I GRABBED MY PURSE AS QUICKLY AS I COULD, AND RAN AWAY FROM THE CAR. THEN, I SAW PART OF THE ENGINE FALL OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR, ON FIRE, AND BURN INTO THE STREET. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER, THE WHOLE ENTIRE CAR BURST INTO FLAMES. ALL OF THE DOORS WERE CLOSED, BUT THE INTENSITY OF THE FIRE BLEW BOTH OF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOORS OPEN, AND BLEW OUT ALL OF THE WINDOWS (INCLUDING THE SUNROOF, WHICH WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME). WHEN THE FIREFIGHTERS FINALLY PUT THE FIRE OUT, THE CAR WAS STILL SMOLDERING AND EVERYTHING INSIDE WAS MELTED. THE STEERING WHEEL, THE SEATS, THE DOOR HANDLES, THE MIRRORS, EVERYTHING. THE FIRE WAS SO STRONG THAT IT BLEW THE HOOD BACK ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. ALL THAT IS LEFT OF THE CAR, IS JUST THE METAL FRAME, AND THE ENGINE. THE CAR HAS A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE WITH A TURBO FEATURE ON IT. I BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE AND MADE THE LOUD POPPING SOUND INITIALLY. *TR
THE OIL COOLER ON MY 2008 MAZDA CX-7 BEGAN LEAKING AROUND THE RUBBER O-RING A FEW WEEKS AGO. MY MECHANIC CALLED FERMAN MAZDA IN BRANDON, FL TO GET A REPLACEMENT AND WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE OLD STYLE OIL COOLER HAD PROBLEMS AND MAZDA RE-DESIGNED A NEW ONE, AND NOW MAZDA OWNERS HAVE TO SPEND OVER $400 TO BUY A NEW ONE BECAUSE THE RUBBER GASKET AND OIL COOLER ARE NOT MANUFACTURED ANYMORE. OIL HAS COVERED MY ENGINE AND THE PLASTIC ENGINE COVER UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE CAN CAUSE A FIRE IF IT SPRAYS UP NEAR THE PLUGS/STARTER. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE OIL COOLER, HOWEVER FERMAN MAZDA DOES NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR
I WRITE TO EXPRESS MY DISAPPOINTMENT AT THE QUALITY OF VEHICLES MAZDA IS PUTTING OUT, AND THE LACK OF RESPONSE MAZDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT OFFERS ITS CUSTOMERS. IN 2008 I BOUGHT A 2008 MAZDA CX7 AND THIS CAR HAS GIVEN ME NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. FROM THE FAULTY WIRING THAT ALWAYS BLOWS OUT THE HEADLIGHTS, TO THE POWER WINDOWS WHICH SOMETIMES TURN OFF AND TURN ON, TO THE EXHAUST FUMES THAT CAN BE SMELT INSIDE THE CAR, I'VE COMPLAINED ABOUT ALL OF IT AND SPENT COUNTLESS RESOURCES AND TIME TRYING TO FIX IT ALL. THE LAST STRAW CAME ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VVT ADJUSTER AND CHAIN WERE OUT, THE TURBO WAS OUT AND THE ENGINE WAS FAILING AND IT WOULD COST ME CLOSE TO $4,000 TO REPAIR IT. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE GASKETS ON MY OIL FILTER HOUSING UNIT, AS THE STOCK GASKETS WERE FAULTY AND CAUSING A SEVERE OIL LEAK. ALSO, MY EMISSIONS REGULATION ( EGR) VALVE IS BAD AND THEREFORE WILL NOT PASS SMOG. EACH OF THESE ISSUES I AM SEEING MORE AND MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE. MAZDA HAS MADE A HORRIBLY DEFECTIVE CAR AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT TO CLAIM OWNER NEGLIGENCE. I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH 40K MILES ON IT AND IT HAS BEEN FALLING APART FROM THE START. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE AND THIS IS NOT OWNER NEGLIGENCE, IT IS MAZDA NEGLIGENCE AND REFUSAL TO MAKE ANYTHING RIGHT ON THEIR COMPLETELY DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
EGR VALVE FAILURE ON A 2008 MAZDA CX-7 WITH 47,500 MILES. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF A EGR VALVE BEFORE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THEM TELL ME THE ERROR CODE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE PART WAS 60MONTHS/60,000 MILES. WHILE I WAS WAY UNDER ON THE MILES, I WAS 5 MONTHS OVER ON THE TIME. SINCE THIS WAS MY 3RD TRIP INTO THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE PAST 5 MONTHS DEALING WITH PROBLEMS/MAINTENANCE WITH MY CX-7, I ASKED WHY THIS PARTICULAR PART FAILED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ETHANOL. AFTER SOME QUICK RESEARCH, IT IS CLEAR THAT 2007-2008 MAZDA CX-7 HAS SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE EGR VALVE. IT WILL COST ME $650 TO FIX. MAZDA SHOULD HAVE BEEN FORCED TO RECALL THIS PART SINCE IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE START. WAS TOLD THAT A NEW REPLACEMENT PART FOR THE EGR VALVE WOULD BE PUT INTO THE VEHICLE WHICH WILL NOT BREAK DUE TO PRESENCE OF ETHANOL IN GAS. *TR
