WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT SEPARATED AND THEN THE PULLED WHEEL AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE, PULLING THE AXLE OUT. WE HAD TO REMOVE THE WHEEL, INSERT THE AXLE AND PUT THE WHEEL BACK ON BEFORE WE COULD EVEN MOVE THE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE AXLE FRACTURED AND LODGED INTO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
MY VEHICLE'S BRAKING SYSTEM HAD BEEN FUNCTIONING NORMALLY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE SOUND OF A "HISSING" WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I STOPPED TO GET GAS ON MAY 3RD, 2015 AND UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER ASSIST ON MY BRAKES WAS GONE. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT MAZDA HAD ISSUED A SPECIAL SERVICE RECALL THAT WAS VIN SPECIFIC ON THIS EXACT ISSUE; HOWEVER, MY VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED THEREFORE I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. FOR THOSE VEHICLES AFFECTED, MAZDA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BETWEEN THE DATES OF MARCH 31, 2014 - MARCH 31, 2015 (SSP93 - HTTP://WWW-ODI.NHTSA.DOT.GOV/CARS/PROBLEMS/DEFECT/RESULTS.CFM?ACTION_NUMBER=PE14005&SEARCHTYPE=QUICKSEARCH&SUMMARY=TRUE). MY VEHICLE DID NOT PRESENT WITH THE PROBLEM UNTIL 33 DAYS PAST THE EXPIRATION OF MAZDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND THEY NOW REFUSE TO COVER THE COST I INCURRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT SUITABLE TO DRIVE ONCE THE POWER ASSIST ON THE BRAKES FAILED. IF MY VIN WAS NOT IDENTIFIED AS PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL, THERE ARE LIKELY OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE OR WILL EXPERIENCE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM - AND THEY MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN WHEN THEY'RE STOPPED AT A GAS STATION LIKE I WAS. IF THE POWER BRAKE ASSIST WERE TO FAIL DURING NORMAL DRIVING, ACCIDENTS AND SUBSEQUENT INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE COULD EASILY OCCUR. THIS NEEDS TO CONTINUE TO BE INVESTIGATED, AND A FULL RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED.
LOWER BALL JOINT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION SEPARATED CAUSING THE WHEEL TO FALL OFF ROUNDING A CORNER......UPDATED 08/20/15 *BF
WAS DRIVING MY CAR WITH CHILDREN IN IT WHEN THE WHEEL FELL OFF AND AXEL CRACKED. IT CAUSED FRONT END DAMAGE I COULDN'T GET OUT OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T OPEN. HAD TO PAY TO GET ALL OF THAT FIXED. I JUST RECEIVE RECALL 8515G. MY ISSUE WITH THIS IS THAT THE RECALL DOES NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE REASON FOR THE RECALL IS THAT WATER GET LEAK INTO THE SUSPENSION AND CAUSE CORROSION. REPLACING JUST THE CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS DOES NOT PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. WATER CAN STILL LEAK INTO THE SUSPENSION AND THE NEW PARTS COULD COULD CORRODE, BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSE THE SAME THING TO HAPPEN AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT COULD RESULT IN MORE DIRE CONSEQUENCES. WE WERE LUCKY I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. THIS IS FORCING US TO BUY A NEW CAR WHEN WE STILL OWE $8000 ON THE MAZDAZ WE WANT TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS AND THE ACCIDENT WE HAD AND THE RISK IT OUT THE LIVES OF ME AND MY CHILDREN IN. FURTHERMORE MAZDA SAID THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF PARTS WHICH MEANS THEY WON'T REPLACE IF THERE IS NO SIGN OF LOOSENESS. THIS IS REDICULOUS AS MY CRASH OCCURRED A FEW MONTHS AFTER BEING INSPECTED. SO I WAS DRIVING LUCKILY ON A BACK ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELT LIKE I HIT SOMETHING, NOW THIS WAS 12:30 P.M. MIDDAY AND ME AND MY SISTER DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING BEFORE THE OCCURRENCE. SO I LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW A TIRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND I KNEW THERE WAS NO WAY I MISSED A TIRE. SO I PRECEDED TO TURN AROUND TO GO BACK TO CHECK IT OUT, AND WHEN I GOT OUT TO CHECK IT OUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE MY SPARE TIRE FROM UNDER MY CAR. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED, SO I GOT DOWN AND LOOKED UNDER MY CAR ONLY TO SEE SOME FRAYED WIRES STICKING DOWN FROM WHERE THE TIRE WAS MOUNTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE MAKING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SOUND CAME FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INNER AND OUTER TIE ROD, BALL JOINTS, CONTROL ARM, AND AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,099.
TAKATA RECALL, THIS RECALL HAS NO FIX YET. IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME. I CAN NOT HAVE ANYBODY SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, WHICH IS VERY VERY INCONVENIENT.
MY HUSBAND HAD JUST LEFT OUR HOME AND LUCKILY WERE STILL IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN OUR MAZDA CX9 STARTED TO STUTTER AND SHAKE AND BECOME UN-DRIVABLE. IT RODE VERY ROUGH. IT HAPPENED WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CHECK ENGINE ERROR WAS P0351/PO352. THEY REPLACED THE COIL BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND WE STILL WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. WE THEN TOOK IT TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHICH THEN REPLACED THE PCM AND ANOTHER COIL. WE HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL WEEKS FOR THE PCM DUE TO "LIMITED AVAILABILITY"; WHICH TO ME, A CONSUMER MEANS ONE OF TWO THINGS - THE PCM SHOULD NOT FAIL OR THERE IS A SHORT SUPPLY OF PCM BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY FAILURES. I SPOKE WITH MAZDA AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND CALLED ME BACK TO EXPLAIN THAT THIS CURRENT SITUATION "DID NOT MEET THE FEDERAL PARAMETER OF THE REVIEW PROCESS AND THAT MAZDA WOULD NOT BE REPLACING THIS PART FOR US AND SHE ADDED "AT THIS TIME"...SEEMS SUSPICIOUS TO ME..."AT THIS TIME". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? MAZDA'S WARRANTY IS 8 YEARS/96,000 MILES...THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE (OUR MILEAGE IS 116,000). WE WERE LUCKY WE WEREN'T DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED OR THE CAR WOULD HAVE JUST STOPPED RUNNING! OUR CAR HAD NO PREVIOUS ISSUES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON UNTIL THIS INCIDENT ON 11/16/2014. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 5, 2014 I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY MAZDA CX-9. THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BROKE FREE FROM THE CAR WHILE I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY ON AN ON-RAMP. I WAS GOING ABOUT 50-55 MPH AND ABOUT TO MERGE INTO THE FIRST HIGHWAY LANE WHEN THE LEFT FRONT BALL JOINT FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND RESULTED IN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO MY CAR. AN INSURANCE CLAIM WAS FILES AND THE DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. I COULD HAVE DIES SINCE I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES COMING AT THE MOMENT. I HAVE PICTURES AND INSURANCE DOCUMENTATION.
POWERED REAR LIFT GATE STUD PULLED OUT OF THE REAR LIFT GATE AND IT DROPPED. *TR
THE PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL DISCONNECTED FROM THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN THRU A RESIDENTIAL AREA AT A LOW SPEED. TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CAR HAD A FRONT-WHEEL ALIGNMENT, AND THE MECHANIC ASSURED ME THAT THERE WAS NO DETECTION OF THE IMMINENT FAILURE. I CERTAINLY DO NOT WISH TO HAVE THIS OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAD BOTH LOWER FRONT BALL JOINT/LOWER ARM ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. I STILL HAVE THE FAILED PART IN CASE YOU ARE INTERESTED. *JS
WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT NIGHT. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR IMMEDIATELY DROVE AS IF IT WERE NOT OPERATING ON ALL CYLINDERS. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND IT HAD MULTIPLE MISFIRE CODES, 301, 351, 352, 354. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FILED ON-LINE REGARDING THE EXACT MISFIRE CODES I EXPERIENCED AND PCM ISSUES IN THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THIS PROBLEM IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. IF MAZDA IS AWARE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE, THEY NEED TO REMEDY IT. I DO NOT BELIEVE I NEED TO PERSONALLY PAY FOR A PCM WHEN THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I BELIEVE MAZDA IS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY NEED TO REMEDY IT AND REPLACE THE PCM. *TR
FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, I'VE BEEN NOTICING A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM MY BRAKES ON MY 2007 MAZDA CX-9. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT AT FIRST UNTIL TONIGHT. MY SISTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO BRAKE THE CAR. I WANTED TO SEE WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT, SO I GOT IN THE CAR AND AS SOON AS I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL TO START THE CAR AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE HISSING SOUND WAS VERY LOUD AND MUCH MORE NOTICEABLE THAN BEFORE. ONCE THE CAR WAS IN GEAR, THE BREAKS WERE KIND OF STUCK ON. THE CAR WOULDN'T GO BACKWARDS IN IDLE AND WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS FOR IT TO GO THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE WHEELS. I DIDN'T LIKE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD. I DECIDED TO PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND PULL INTO THE GARAGE WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY. I COULDN'T PUSH THE PEDAL AT ALL AND THE CAR KEPT ROLLING INTO THE GARAGE, SO I HAD TO SLAM ON THE E-BRAKE AND SLAM INTO PARK FOR IT TO STOP SO I WOULDN'T CRASH INTO THE HOUSE. I SAW A FEW OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH LED ME HERE TO REPORT IT. MAZDA REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS HURT OR EVEN KILLED. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN TO ME AT ROAD SPEEDS WHEN I NEEDED TO STOP, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN WRECKAGE, POSSIBLE INJURES OR EVEN DEATH. *TR
I HAVE JUST LEARNED ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE MAZDA CX9 AND WHEELS FALLING OFF AND I REALIZED THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF MY CX 9 BECAUSE I DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK AND DEPEND ON MY CAR VERY MUCH, SO WHEN ISSUES WITH THE STEERING STARTED I TOOK IT TO SEARS FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT SINCE I HAD JUST REPLACED A NEW SET OF TIRES A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE, IT SEEMED OK AFTER THE ALIGNMENT UNTIL AGAIN THE SMALL SKIP OF THE STEERING STARTED EVERY TIME I TURN THE WHEEL, I DID THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL IT STARTED INCREASING. EVERY TIME I TURNED THE WHEEL THE SKIP WAS THERE, I DECIDED TO CALL MY MECHANIC WHO ALWAYS DID ALL THE CAR SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE AND HE SAID TO BRING IT IN OVER THE WEEKEND TO TAKE A LOOK, BEFORE I HAD THE CHANCE TO BRING IT TO HIM, AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE WHEEL CAME RIGHT OFF THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE ARMS, GOOD THING I WAS JUST MAKING A RIGHT TURN, MINUTES BEFORE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED... I THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN JUST A FREAK ACCIDENT AND I WAS HAPPY TO BE ALIVE. I HAD THE MECHANIC COME AND PICK UP THE CAR FROM THE STREET AND AFTER SURVEYING THE DAMAGES HE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH UPPER AND LOWER ARMS ON BOTH SIDES AND THEN HE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD BEEN DAMAGED WHEN THE AXEL PULLED AWAY, SO NOW WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSFER CASE AND IT IS NOT AN EASY JOB. NOW THAT IT IS ALL DONE I FOUND THAT IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND MAKES ME ANGRY TO KNOW THAT THE OWNERS WERE NOT INFORMED RIGHT AWAY, I COULD HAVE HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR..
TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTS TO STUTTER. PUSH DOWN ON THE GAS AND THERE IS NO POWER. CAR CANNOT GO OVER 40 MPH. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. TAKE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. INFORMED THAT IGNITION COILS #1,2,4 ARE RUINED. THEY ARE REPLACED, 12 HOURS LATER IGNITION COIL #2 FAILS AGAIN. MECHANIC GIVES ME MAZDA BULLETIN #01-026/11 CALLING OUT ISSUES WITH PCM AND HOW PCM WILL CAUSE MIS-FIRING OF IGNITION COILS CAUSING THE COILS TO FAIL PREMATURELY. COIL #2 WHEN REPLACED WAS CHARRED AND SPLIT AND WAS LEAKING OIL. MAZDA WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT REPLACE PCM OR DAMAGED COIL CAUSED BY FAULTY PCM. *TT
ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18TH 2013 I WAS INVOLVED IN A NEAR ACCIDENT ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON INTERSTATE 99 OFF THE 17TH STREET EXIT NEAR ALTOONA PA. THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AS I TRIED TO COME TO A STOP ON THE EXIT RAMP. I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOTICED I WAS NOT STOPPING. I COULD HEAR A HISSING/AIR SOUND WHEN I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES, GEAR THE CAR DOWN IN MANUAL, AND SWERVE OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE CAR THAT WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. NO DASH LIGHTS WERE ON GIVING ME NO WARNING THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. II TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS A LEAKY MASTER CYLINDER AND THAT RUINED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALER IN GOOD FAITH TO SEE IF MAZDA WOULD REPLACE THE PARTS OR AT LEAST PROVIDE THE PARTS TO FIX THE CAR SINCE THERE WAS A PRIOR INVESTIGATION INTO THE FAULTY MASTER CYLINDERS. I THEN WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEIR MAZDA REPRESENTATIVE HAS NOT HEARD OF ANY INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE FAULTY MASTER CYLINDERS. SO I CONTACTED MAZDA DIRECTLY VIA THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER. I SPOKE WITH A [XXX] AND MY COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH MAZDA DOCUMENTATION NUMBER 149440377. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT MAZDA WAS NOT WILLING TO REPLACE THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THE CAR AS THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. TOTAL COST TO FIX THE VEHICLE WAS $2300. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS RECALLED AND THE FAULTY MASTER CYLINDERS NEED TO BE REPLACED BY MAZDA BEFORE SOMEONE GET KILLED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX9. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE ROOF AIR BAG DEPLOYED SIMULTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT WARRANT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES AND CHEMICAL BURNS TO THE LEFT ARM FROM THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG. THE CONTACT HAD NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH OR ANY TYPE OF IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TRAILER HOOKUPS FOR MY CX9 DON'T WORK. HAVE TO PAY A MECHANIC TO RE-WIRE. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT NIGHT IN SNOW; UNSAFE AND UNKNOWN AREA WITH JUST ME AND MY DAUGHTER. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR IMMEDIATELY DROVE AS IF IT WERE NOT OPERATING ON ALL CYLINDERS. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND IT HAD MULTIPLE MISFIRE CODES, 301, 351, 352, 354. COILS BAD AND PCM "FRIED." CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND LAST CAR PAYMENT MADE OCTOBER 2012. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FILED ON-LINE REGARDING THE EXACT MISFIRE CODES I EXPERIENCED AND PCM ISSUES IN THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THIS PROBLEM IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. IF MAZDA IS AWARE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE, THEY NEED TO REMEDY IT. I'M PERFECTLY FINE TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS AT THE TIME MAZDA RECOMMENDS THEY ARE DUE; HOWEVER I DO NOT BELIEVE I NEED TO PERSONALLY PAY FOR A PCM AFTER 5 YEARS OF USE WHEN THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I CALLED CORPORATE MAZDA TO ASK ABOUT ANY KNOWN PCM PROBLEMS ON 3/6/2012, REFERENCE # 146248920 AND WAS NOT GIVEN ANY INFORMATION. I WAS TOLD TO SIMPLY TRUST THE TECHNICIAN. THIS ANSWER IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I BELIEVE MAZDA IS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY NEED TO REMEDY IT. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARK, THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WAS DISLODGED FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION BY THE REPAIR MECHANIC, WERE TOLD THAT LOWER BALL JOINT DISCONNECTED FROM THE SUSPENSION, CAUSING MULTIPLE DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION AND DRIVE TRAIN ON THE CAR. MORE THAN $1,775.00 DOLLARS WORTH. ON 7/30/15, WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE TIRE CENTER FOR 4 NEW TIRES, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE OF LOOSE TIE ROD AND LOWER BALL JOINT ON PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CONCERNS ME FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE FIRST TIME WITH 3 KIDS IN THE CAR, AND NEEDLESS TODAY IS MORE CONCERNED NOW, BASED ON TODAY'S REQUIRED REPAIR.
ON THE AFTERNOON OF NOVEMBER 4TH, 2012 WHILE OPERATING MY MAZDA AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. FEARFUL FOR WHAT WAS CAUSING THE SMOKE, I EXITED THE VEHICLE. AS I CLOSED THE DOOR, THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED. TWO MINUTES LATER, THE HORN SOUNDED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE AND THEN SHUT OFF. SMOKE CONTINUED TO BILLOW INSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT THINKS THAT I HAD A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING. THEY ARE REPLACING THE CLOCKSPRING, AIR BAG MODULE AND AIR BAG. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW FROM MAZDA IN 2007. IT HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY WITH FORCE HOWEVER THERE WAS A DELAYED RESPONSE. THE CONTACT SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO PREVENT CRASHING INTO A PROCEEDING VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER FAILED, BRAKE FLUID LEAKING INTO VACUUM SYSTEM.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE WILLIAMSBURG BRIDGE THERE WAS A SLIGHT INCLINE DURING THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND THAT'S WHEN IT STARTED LOOSING POWER AND STARTED MISFIRING. FORTUNATELY, THIS HAPPENED VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES EXCEPT MINE. WHEN I GOT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE I GOT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY IMMEDIATELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX9. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE RESIDENTIAL GARAGE WHEN HE SMELLED AN EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A RUSTY SEAM WITHIN THE FUEL TANK. THE PART NEEDED TO MAKE REPAIRS WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DEALER WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE ONCE THE PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,568. UPDATED 3/1/12 *CN
MY DAUGHTERS 2007 MAZDACX-9, RIGHT REAR WHEEL BEARING HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES IN THE FIRST 46,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT NO COST. HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE FACTORY STATING REAR BEARING PROBLEM IS DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED OR MISSHAPEN ABS SENSOR. BULLETIN STATES WILL ONLY BE REPLACED FREE DURING WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE SERIOUS RAMIFICATIONS TO OCCUPANTS IF NOT PERMANENTLY REPAIRED BECAUSE ABS SENSOR IS INVOLVED. *TR
WE HAVE HAD OUR MAZDA CX-9 SINCE 2007. AT 58,000 MILES WE NOTICED A "HUMMING" NOISE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WE GOT THE RUN AROUND STATING IT WAS OUR TIRES; HOWEVER, IT TURNED OUT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE BAD. THEY REPLACED THE BEARINGS AND ONE YEAR LATER WE ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE REAR BEARINGS. THROUGH RESEARCH WE ARE FINDING THAT MAZDA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED 2/1/2008 ABOUT THE REAR BEARINGS. BASICALLY STATING THE NOISE IS FROM AN IMPROPER SHAPE OF THE ABS SENSOR AND THIS IS ONLY COVERED IF THERE IS STILL A WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. MY QUESTION IS IF THEY KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM THEN WHY IS THIS ISSUE NOT RECALLED BECAUSE A FROZEN BEARING IS AND CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. MAZDA REFUSES TO HELP REPLACE OUR REAR BEARING SINCE WE ARE NOW AT 74,000 MILE AND OUR WARRANTY IS OUT. ALL WE KEEP GETTING IS A RUN AROUND BY OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIPS. WE ALSO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OUR DRIVER SIDE MIRROR. MAZDA REPLACE THE MIRROR A FEW WEEKS AFTER WE BOUGHT OF CX-9 BUT IT STILL SHAKES.
WHILE MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH, OUR SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED -- NOT IMPLODED FROM AN OBJECT HITTING THE GLASS, BUT EXPLODED, WITH THE REMAINING GLASS SHIFTED OUTWARDS AND A HUGE SECTION OF GLASS FROM THE MIDDLE COMPLETELY MISSING. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO OBJECT THAT HIT THE ROOF; THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES, WITH THE INSIDE TEMPERATURE A TAD COOLER AT APPROXIMATELY 65 DEGREES; AND THE ROAD AROUND US WAS SMOOTH AND, AS FAR AS WE COULD SEE, FREE FROM DEBRIS. WE HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DAMAGE, AND OF THE ROAD WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY A SUNROOF WOULD SO DANGEROUSLY EXPLODE FOR (SEEMINGLY) NO REASON AT ALL, UNLESS THE ITEM WAS EITHER DEFECTIVE, OR WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE IN AN INCORRECT MANNER. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FAR MORE SERIOUS THAN IT WAS -- THANKFULLY WE HAD THE SUNROOF COVER CLOSED, SO WHAT GLASS FELL DOWNWARD FELL ONTO THE COVER, AND THE CARS BEHIND US WERE A RELATIVELY GOOD DISTANCE BEHIND US - THOUGH I'M STILL UNCERTAIN IF THEY SUSTAINED ANY DAMAGE TO THEIR VEHICLE OR PERSON IN THE INCIDENT. BECAUSE THE EXPLOSION SOUNDED MUCH LIKE A LOUD GUNSHOT OR OTHER EXPLOSION RIGHT ABOVE US, BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I VIOLENTLY DUCKED FOR COVER -- A VERY DANGEROUS PROPOSITION AT 70MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN A LARGE CITY. I SEVERELY STRAINED MY NECK AND SHOULDER, REQUIRING MEDICAL ATTENTION AND PRESCRIPTIONS TO MANGE THE PAIN AND MUSCLE STIFFNESS. *TR
MAZDA 2007 CX-9 FWD TOURING MODEL DOES NOT OPERATE IN SNOW CAUSING SAFETY CONCERN. IF TIRES START TO SPIN THE TCS SYSTEM SHUTS OFF THE FUEL INJECTORS IF THE CAR IS GOING OVER I THINK 9 MPH. YOU CAN SHUT OFF THE TCS BUT IT AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGES OVER 9 MPH. WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT IF YOU ARE ON A ROAD EVEN WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF SNOW THE CAR COMES TO A HALT CAUSING A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO BEING HIT MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE WERE TWO INSTANCES IN 1 INCH OF SNOW WHERE I HAD TO PARK THE CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET UP MINOR HILLS. MOST CARS HAVE THE ABILITY TO SHUT OFF THE TCS SYSTEM BUT THE MAZDA SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGES AS I SAID ABOVE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
I HAVE THE SAME STEERING PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 MAZDA CX-9 AS NOTED IN OTHER COMPLAINTS. STEERS TO THE LEFT AUTOMATICALLY SINCE DAY 1. DEALER HAS TRIED TO ADJUST FRONT END, TIRE PRESSURE, ETC. AT LEAST 2 OR 3 TIMES AND HAVE SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE EXTERIOR MIRROR. RECENTLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED WITH THE VISIBILITY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
SINCE PURCHASE THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR VIBRATES WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN OVER 40 MPH. MAZDA IS AWARE AND WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX IT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE MIRROR, NOTED THE DEFECT, BUT IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND VIBRATING IS WORSE THAN BEFORE REPLACEMENT. MAZDA USA WILL DO NOTHING WITH THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. THE VIBRATING IS SEVERE AND IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT CANNOT BE CORRECTED BY ANYONE BUT MAZDA. THE DEFECT MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE AND IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN OTHER MAZDA CX-9S. *TR
