Well I was backing up from a parking spot when put out of the blue my vehicle wouldn't move . The drive side wheel is not working and these little around thing where on the ground . Before that happen the driver side tire would become lose to where it would fall off.
Coolant was leaking into my engine where the oil goes and I was unaware. The vehicle stalled in me while driving because of this. Even after figuring out what the issue was and trying to have it fix it became inoperable.
THERE IS A SYSTEMIC EVAP SYSTEM ISSUE WHERE THERE IS A LEAK THAT EITHER SHOWS THAT THE GAS CAP IS OFF OR THE CHECK ENGINE CODE FOR LARGE EVAP LEAK. MESSAGE BOARD TRAFFIC SHOWS THIS AS A PROBLEM ACROSS MULTIPLE YEAR MODELS AND MAKES IN THE MAZDA CX LINE, ESPECIALLY THE CX-9. EVERYONE, INCLUDING MYSELF, REPORTS THE SAME ISSUE: LIGHT COMES ON, AND THEN REPLACE GAS CAP. LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND THEN IT IS MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO FIND WHERE THE EVAP LEAK IS.
I TOOK THE CAR TO PEP BOYS AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL BECAUSE MY WHOLE GAS TANK IS BAD AND IT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON IT .AND ALSO FORD SAID THE SAME....SO MY TRUCK HAVE A MAJOR GAS LEAK AND A RUSTED OUT GAS SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, A SNAP NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AND REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V451000 (SUSPENSION) APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE SAME DEALER (OAK LAWN MAZDA, 708-233-7700, LOCATED AT 6750 W 95TH ST, OAK LAWN, IL 60453) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED; THEREFORE, THE FAILURE WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE RECALL AGAIN. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WHEN MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND LOSING POWER. THEY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND I COULDN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER DRIVERS. I WAS ALMOST HIT MORE THAN ONCE BY OTHER CARS. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED AND A LICENSED MECHANIC LOOK AT IT, I WAS TOLD THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND LEAKED WATER AND COOLANT INTO MY ENGINE WHICH COMPLETELY DISABLED MY ENGINE.
ALL OF THE HINDGES ON THE DOORS MAKES A POPPING SOUND WHEN YOU OPEN EACH DOOR TO ENTER THE VEHICLE I THINK THEY ARE GOING TO FALL OFF WHAT I MEAN IS THE DOORS THE SOUND IS VERY ANNOYING AND EMBARRASSING PLEASE HELP .
RECALL: BALL JOINT CORROSION FROM WATER LEAKING INTO THE FITTING. IT WAS REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO FOR FREE DUE TO THE RECALL. NOW, THE BALL JOINTS HAVE AGAIN CORRODED, BUT DEALER CLAIMING THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL.
THE PTU TRANSFER CASE IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND WILL COST ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE CAR IS WORTH. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO THE DESIGN THAT MAZDA HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND RECALL FOR MANY YEARS NOW. COMMON PROBLEMS ARE EXPLOSION OF THE UNIT AND TOXIC FUMES AND LOCKING UP OF THE POWER TRAIN. PLEASE DO YOUR JOB AND TAKE ACTION.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON CONTROL ARMS I HAVE HAD THE REPAIRS DONE 3 TIMES I BELIEVE THESE ARE CAUSING OTHER DAMAGES TO THE CAR! THAT CANNOT STAY REPAIRED THE SAME THINGS CONTINUE TO BREAK ON THIS OVER AND OVER!! I WANT TO GET RID OF THIS CAR. I OWE WAY MORE THAN IT'S VALUE. HOWEVER I CAN'T TRADE IT IN BECAUSE OF THESE RECALLS AND IT BEING UNFIXABLE

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN AUGUST OF 2017. THE DEALER (TASCA FORD MAZDA, 200 FALL RIVER AVE, SEEKONK, MA, 02771) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR, BUT WOULD ORDER AND HAVE THEM WITHIN TWO WEEKS. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED REFERENCE NUMBER: 1-758290897. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT ORDERED, BUT WOULD ORDER THE PARTS TO BE DELIVERED THE FOLLOWING WEEK TO THAT SPECIFIC DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE ORDERED, BUT DID NOT KNOW WHY THEY HAD NOT ARRIVED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AGAIN AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE ORDERED AND SHOULD HAD BEEN DELIVERED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER IN REFERENCE TO THE PARTS, SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, AND CALL THE CONTACT BACK TO CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT AND INFORMATION. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

TAKATA RECALL - IN THE LAST 1 1/2 YEARS, I'VE RECEIVED NUMEROUS RECALL NOTICES FOR THE LISTED RECALLS AND HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE AND CALLED IN TO THE MAZDA DEALER TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THAT THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENTS YET IN THE SYTEM. I DON'T HAVE EXACT DATE THAT II HAD PREVIOUSLY MAKE A COMPLAINT.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V451000 (SUSPENSION), IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE CONTACT'S ATTENTION THAT THE TREAD ON THE TWO FRONT TIRES WAS WORN DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
BACK IN 2011 (MY MAZDA CX-9 WAS ONLY 4 YO), I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE TURNPIKE AT 65 MPH WHEN MY CAR BEGAN TO STUTTER, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND IT CAME TO AN IDLE. THANKFULLY I WAS NEAR THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. SOUTH MOTORS MAZDA DEALERSHIP STATED THE COMPUTER (PCM) WAS FRIED. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. CURRENT DAY: 2016. MY CAR BEGAN HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS LAST WEEK WHEN DRIVING 15 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 99,500 MILES. HAD MY CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. OCEAN MAZDA STATED THE PCM AND 3 COILS ARE FRIED AGAIN. UPON READING CONSUMER REVIEWS ON 2007 MAZDA CX-9, IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. I AM LIVID THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AS A RECALL AS THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN EITHER THE COILS MISFIRING OR MAZDA'S PCMS ARE DEFECTIVE. I WILL BE DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE WITH MY DEALERSHIP TODAY IN ATTEMPT TO NOT PAY OVER $1900 PARTS AND LABOR AS QUOTED BY OCEAN MAZDA.
TAKATA RECALL -- I HAVE CHECKED TO HAVE THE NEW AIR BAG ON MY PASSENGER SIDE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE. AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN A REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. SO I AM DRIVING A LETHAL WEAPON WITH NO RECOURSE. IN THE MEANTIME, OUR GOVERNMENT HAS REQUIRED VW TO BUY BACK VEHICLES. WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT NOT MAKING SIMILAR REQUIREMENTS ON CARS THAT ARE KILLING PEOPLE??? *TR
I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR ONE YEAR. I BOUGHT IT USED AND HAVE HAD THE "SAME" PROBLEM NOW "3" TIMES AND SINCE I HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED AT A "MAZDA" DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I AM SORRY I DO NOT HAVE THE $$$ FOR THIS AND I BROUGHT IT TO MY OWN MECHANIC, MAZDA WILL NOT STAND BY THIS. THE IGNITION COILS HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED NOW AS WELL AS THE PCM AND NOW I AM TOLD IT NEEDS THE PCM TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THERE ARE "NUMEROUS" COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE AND MOST HAVE TAKEN IT TO MAZDA DEALERSHIPS AND STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. THE LAST COIL ACTUALLY MELTED AND COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE SO I AM RUNNING WITH 5 COILS NOW INSTEAD OF 6 UNTIL I CAN FIND OUT HOW TO RECTIFY THIS ONGOING PROBLEM! I JUST PUT 4 NEW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE SPENT OVER $1000 ALREADY AND CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND MUCH MORE ON THIS VEHICLE. MAZDA NEEDS TO STAND BY THIS PROBLEM!
TAKATA RECALL - MY CAR IS PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL THAT STATES IT MAKE CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH BUT MAZDA IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND I CONTACTED MAZDA, THEY STATED THERE ISN'T ANY PARTS TO FIX IT AS OF YET. I FEEL THAT IS IS VERY UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND I TO TRAVEL. THERE HAS TO BE ANOTHER SOLUTION.
TAKATA RECALL: GOT LETTER STATING NO ONE SHOULD RIDE IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL REPAIR DONE. YET REPAIR MAY NOT BE DONE FOR 10-15 YEARS!!!!!!! I CALLED RUSSELL MAZDA IN CATONSVILLE, MD & THEY CONCURRED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS: I HAVE FIVE PEOPLE NEEDING TO BE IN THE CAR: HOW CAN WE NOT USE THE FRONT SEAT FOR 10-15 YEARS?
MY COMPLIANT IS WITH A DEALER I CONTACTED TO FIX A SAFETY RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. THE DEALER, RUSSLE MAZDA BALTIMORE MD, REQUIRED TWO SEPARATE VISITS, ONE FOR AN INSPECTION AND IF NEEDED ANOTHER TO MAKE THE REPAIRS ONCE PARTS CAME IN. WHY THEY COULDN'T ORDER THE PARTS AND DO EVERYTHING AT ONE TIME, I DON'T KNOW. TWO VISITS IS INCONVENIENT AND UNREASONABLE. I CALLED ANOTHER DEALER WHO ORDERED THE PARTS INSTANTLY FOR THEM TO BE REPLACED DURING ONE VISIT. THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS TO NOTIFY YOU IF THE DEALER DOES NOT REPAIR THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME AND RUSSLE MAZDA WAS NOT REASONABLE. I DID LET THEM KNOW THIS AS WELL. THANKS. ALEXANDRA

THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE MOTOR FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT SWITCHED TO MANUAL TRANSMISSION, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, IT RE-ENGAGED IN GEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
IN 2016 I GOT A RECALL #8515G AND THAT WAS PERFORMED BY MAZDA DEALER ON MARCH 16 2016 (SEE DOC ATTACHED) AFTER THE RECALL WE HAVE STARTING HEARING A HORRIBLE NOISE, AND MOSTLY IN WINTER, SO I HAVE TOOK AGAIN TO MAZDA TO INSPECT TWICE BUT THEY HAVE HEAR THAT NOISE AND HAVE FOUND ANYTHING. THIS PAST WEEKEND THEY WERE MORE DEEPLY ON THIS INSPECTION AND WHAT THEY FOUND IS THE RF LOW CONTROL ARM JOINT (BALL JOINT) HAS PLAY RF OUTER TIE ROD END HAS PLAY TOO (SEE ATTACHED REPORT FROM MAZDA) THE COSTS ESTIMATES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT $587 PLUS TAXES.. MAZDA RECALL STATE OF NJ. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE TIRE CAME LOOSE. MY HUSBAND HIT A SMALL POTHOLE. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF RIDE. DUE TO THE RECALL WE WERE NOT ABLE TO PUT THE CLAIM THROUGH OUR INSURANCE AND MAZDA IS TELLING ME I WON'T GET A REFUND FOR THE WORK DONE BECAUSE IT TOOK SO LONG TO BE REPAIRED. UNFORTUNATELY, WE DO NOT RECALL RECEIVING ANYTHING ABOUT THE RECALL. AFTER READING THE RECALL BASICALLY WHAT IT SAID COULD HAPPEN DID AND THE CAR NEEDED REPAIRS. I ATTACHED THE INVOICE AND RECALL FROM MAZDA'S WEBSITE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V451000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF $170.00 BEFORE PERFORMING THIS RECALL, PLUS THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY RECALLS
I WAS DROPPING MY CHILDREN OFF TO DAYCARE TURNING INTO THE PARKING LOT AND GOING OVER A BUMP WHEN I HEARD A LOUD "POP" TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE CAR - THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED DEAD - I GOT OUT TO FIND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS COCKED HARD LEFT AND WAS OFF ITS CONTROL ARM - SOME FLUID WAS ALSO LEAKING OUT OF THE AXLE AREA. THIS HAPPENED THE MONDAY MORNING AFTER I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM MAZDA THIS PAST WEEKEND! I HAD THE FORM IN THE CAR TO CALL FOR SERVICE THIS WEEK. I HAVE CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER BUT THEY HAVE SAID THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE CAR UNTIL THURSDAY - NOW I WILL HAVE TOWING AND RENTAL EXPENSES CONNECTED WITH THIS DEFECT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE IN THE CAR WAS HURT OR THAT IT DIDN'T FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY!

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,710.
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SHAKING AROUND 50MPH. SO WE PLANNED TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT SINCE WE HEARD THAT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL HAS SOME KNOWN ISSUES THAT MAY BECOME SEVERE. DURING THE DRIVE TO THE CAR SHOP (LITERALLY 1 MILE FROM HOME) THE AXLE/BEARING OR FRONT SUSPENSION SEPARATED FROM THE CAR!!! THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL AND JOINTS SEPARATED FROM THE CAR; THE WHEEL LOOKS LIKE IT WAS BREAKING OFF! WE WERE DRIVING AROUND 15MPH! NO ONE WAS HURT AND THANK GOODNESS IT WAS AROUND 11AM SO THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AROUND TO MAKE THINGS WORSE. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE CAR SHOP WHICH WAS ONLY FEET AWAY FROM THE SCENE, WHICH WAS AN ADDED CHARGE! *PHOTOS OF INCIDENT ARE ALSO AVAILABLE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINT DISLODGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
TWO WEEKS AGO I BROUGHT IN MY CAR DUE TO NOISE AND STEERING ISSUES. THE RIGHT BALL JOINT WAS FOUND TO BE VERY LOOSE AND ABOUT TO FAIL, SO IT WAS REPLACED. THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE LEFT BALL JOINT AND DETERMINED IT WAS TIGHT AND THEREFORE DID NOT RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT. YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING, THE LEFT BALL JOINT FAILED. MY TIRE GOT WRACKED AND LOCKED-UP SENDING ME INTO A SKID. I HAD TO BE TOWED. THE AXLE BROKE, PLUS THE SWAY BAR, STRUT AND CONTROL ARM ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED, BETWEEN THE TWO REPAIRS, THE COST IS QUITE HIGH. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY AT HIGH SPEEDS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY COMING HOME FROM A TRIP I NOTICED THAT EVERY TIME I HIT A SMALL BUMP THE FRONT END WOULD MOVE ONE DIRECTION AND THEN COME BACK HARD THE OTHER WAY. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED MY THAT MY LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE EXTREMELY LOOSE (1/2" OF MOVEMENT) AND THAT I WAS LUCKY THEY DID NOT FALL OUT. HE ALSO SAID IT WAS SO BAD THAT IT WASN'T EVEN SAFE FOR HIM TO TEST DRIVE THE CAR. BOTH SIDES HAD TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING REPLACED: OUTER TIE ROD, LOWER CONTROL ARM/BALL JOINT, AND THE SWAY BAR LINK. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT HAVE A WHEEL COME OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY AS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.

RESULTING DAMAGE INCLUDED LOWER CONTROL ARM, CV AXLE ASSEMBLY, SHOCK/STRUT ASSEMBLY, TIE ROD, FENDER, AND DOOR. VERY FORTUNATE TO BE TRAVELLING AT LOW SPEED WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED.
TURNING AROUND AND LOWER BALL JOINT CAME APART,WHEEL WEDGED BETWEEN FENDER AND SUSPENSION LETTING HALFSHAFT PULLOUT OF TRANSAXLE AND CAR IMMOVABLE!
YESTERDAY (6/21/15) AT APPROXIMATELY 630PM; MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2007 MAZDA CX9 GRAND TOURING (AWD). AS SHE WAS PULLING OUT OF A SUBDIVISION AT APPROXIMATELY 10MPH, SHE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THEN IMMEDIATELY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO OTHER TRAFFIC IN THE VICINITY AND SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND GET STOPPED. THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL AT BROKEN FREE OF THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING MECHANISM. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE, PUSHED OUT AND BROKE THE AXLE SHAFT. ALSO THE FORCE OF THE SHIFTING WHEEL/TIRE PUSHED THE RIGHT QUARTER-PANEL INTO THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR, MAKING THE DOOR INOPERABLE. I'VE HEARD OF OTHERS WITH THIS SAME INCIDENT WITH THE CX9. FORTUNATELY THIS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED, WITH NO OTHER TRAFFIC OR PEDESTRIANS IN THE AREA.
I WAS PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY AND MY MAZDA CX 9 CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR I REALIZED THAT THE SUSPENSION BROKE AND THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE BEARING. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED...UPDATED 08-12-15*BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE PART WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 08/25/15*JB
I PURCHASED THE 2007 MAZDA CX-9, FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP, AND HAD IT LESS THAN 24 HOURS, AND AS I WAS TURNING INTO MY WORK PLACE THE BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BROKE. I WAS LUCKY IT HADN'T HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WAS GOING 70 MPH . THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM WAS NICE AND FIXED MY VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE.

WE WERE COMING HOME FROM OUR SON'S BASEBALL GAME WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. THERE WERE 2 ADULTS AND 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. WE WERE TRAVELING IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY AND WERE GOING ABOUT 65 MPH, WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT ON THIS HIGHWAY. OUT OF NOWHERE, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD "POP" SOUND AND YOU COULD FEEL THE CAR SHIFT A LITTLE BIT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AT ALL. I PUT MY FOOT ON BRAKE LIGHTLY TO TRY AND BRING THE CAR TO A STOP WITHOUT SLAMMING THE BRAKES SINCE WE WERE ON HIGHWAY. THE CAR BRIEFLY JERKED TO THE LEFT AND THEN DRIFTED TO THE RIGHT. IT CONTINUED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO BRING TO A COMPLETE STOP ABOUT 2-3 FEET FROM THE EDGE OF HIGHWAY INSIDE LANE. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND IT WAS JUST STARTING TO GET DARK. THERE WERE PLENTY OF OTHER VEHICLES TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT THE TIME, BUT THIS HAPPENED AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME WHEN THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT OF US. IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED 15 SECONDS EARLIER OR LATER, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL WHERE THE CAR WAS GOING. IT WAS DEFINITELY A VERY SCARY SITUATION AND WE FEEL EXTREMELY LUCKY. SINCE THE CAR WAS UNDRIVEABLE, I HAD TO CALL AAA TO COME GET VEHICLE AND TAKE TO LOCAL AUTO SHOP. THEY TOLD ME THE BALL JOINT COMPLETELY SNAPPED/SEPARATED AND I WOULD NEED NEW TIE RODS, BALL JOINT, CONTROL ARM, AXLE, QUICK STRUT AND TIRE ON FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 5 MONTH PERIOD. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO FRONT PASSENGER SIDE 5 MONTHS EARLIER AT LOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT. WE HAD REPAIRED AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO THE OTHER SIDE IN THIS SITUATION, WHICH WAS MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION. IN BOTH CASES, THE BALL JOINT COMPLETELY SEPARATED.
