THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. 2008 MAZDA CX-9 GRAND TOURING ALL WHEEL DRIVE WITH 20 INCH (UPGRADE) WHEELS HOUSED IN NORTHERN VA HAS HAD A SERIES OF SUSPENSION SYSTEM ISSUES. IN DECEMBER 2014 THE FRONT DRIVER-SIDE WHEEL BEARING BROKE WHILE DRIVING FROM NEW YORK TO DC. LUCKILY THE ROARING SOUND WAS NOTICED AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A MR TIRE IN TIME BEFORE THE WHEEL FELL OFF. FRONT TIRE WEAR WAS ALSO EXTREMELY UNEVEN AND TIRES WERE REPLACED. NOW IN SUMMER 2015 A CREAKING NOISE WHILE GOING OVER BUMPS AND HARD TURNS RESULTED IN THE DISCOVERY THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL BEARINGS WERE LOOSE/HAD TOO MUCH PLAY, AND WE REPLACED THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS, SWAYBAR LINKS AND BUSHINGS, AND A BROKEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT. MAZDA DEALER SUGGESTS THESE ARE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUES. IT FEELS LIKE THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS NOT DESIGNED TO MANAGE THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR AND NORMAL CITY/BUMPY/POTHOLE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT SUDDENLY FRACTURED AND THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
I WAS PULL OUT OF MY OFFICE PARKING LOT AND TURNED RIGHT ON TO A 1 LANE ROAD. AS I TURNED RIGHT THE LOWER BALL JOINT DISLODGED FROM THE CONTROL ARM. IT PULL THE DRIVERS SIDE TRANSAXLE WITH IT AND IT TIE ROD ENDS. SLAMMING MY CAR TO A HALT AND ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH THE CAR BEHIND ME. THE WHEEL FACED LEFT EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS STILL SLIGHTY TURNING RIGHT. THIS IS A DANGER AND A HAZARD, I'VE ALSO HEARD THIS IS SERIOUS PROBLEM AMONGST OTHER CX-9 DRIVERS....

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE AXLE. THE VEHICLE SKIDDED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED LOWER CONTROL ARM, OUTER TIE ROD END, STABILIZER LINK, AXLE, AND DRIVE BELT DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE: WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED ON A RESIDENTIAL SIDE STREET, THE LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BROKE WHILE GOING AROUND A RIGHT HAND TURN, CAUSING THE CAR TO SKID ON THE THEN PARTIALLY ATTACHED FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE AND THEN SKIDDED TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED BECAUSE IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN.
I OWN A 2008 MAZDA CR-9 WHOSE LEFT FRONT WHEEL FELL OFF THE AXLE WHILE PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY BACKWARDS (WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR) WITH FRONT WHEELS TURNED LEFT. IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OR TURN THE WHEELS. I CALLED FOR A TOW TO VIRGINIA TIRE AND AUTO AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE LEFT BALL JOINT BROKEN WHICH CAUSED THE AXLE TO COME OUT - IRREVERSIBLY DAMAGING BOTH ITEMS SO THEY HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED FOR $1,131.42!. I KEPT THE DAMAGED LF LOWER CONTROL ARM FOR PROOF AND CAN SEND TWO PICTURES I TOOK. I WANT TO STRESS THAT 5 DAYS EARLIER, I DROVE THE MAZDA TO OCEAN CITY, A THREE HOUR DRIVE. HAD THE BALL JOINT BROKEN DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING - MY WHOLE FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS IS NOT A SITUATION TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY AND I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM MAZDA (WROTE SEPARATE LETTER) SINCE COMPLAINTS POSTED ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM INDICATE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SIX (6) SIMILAR COMPLAINTS MADE SINCE MAY 2015 INDICATING THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER WAY. THESE COMPLAINTS ALL INDICATE THAT THE SIX OWNERS OF THE 2007-2008 MAZDA CX-9 SAY THE LOWER BALL JOINTS "SEPARATE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND CAUSE THE FRONT WHEEL TO DISLODGE FROM HE CAR". THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA) HAS OPENED AN INVESTIGATION INTO REPORTS OF LOWER BALL JOINTS BREAKING (SUSPENSION PROBLEMS). I SINCERELY HOPE THAT MAZDA WILL RECALL ALL THE 54,000 CARS WHICH COULD BE AFFECTED AND COMPENSATE THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES WHICH HAD THE WHEEL FALL OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING. WHEN MAKING A U-TURN (LEFT TURN) AT UNDER 10 MPH THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND IT SHUTTERED TO A STOP. I CALLED MY HUSBAND AND WAITED FOR HIM TO ARRIVE. WHEN HE ARRIVED, HE (AND THE POLICE) ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE. HE WALKED AROUND THE CAR AND OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER WHEEL WAS TURNED OUT AND RESTING AGAINST THE FENDER. THIS EXPOSED THE SUSPENSION AND HE SAW THE BALL JOINT AND SUSPENSION HAD BROKEN LOOSE. THE BALL JOINT HAD RIPPED OUT FROM ITS HOUSING AND THE SUSPENSION BAR HAD BROKEN APART AT THE WHEEL. THERE WERE PARTS ON THE GROUND ALONG WITH GREY FLUID WHICH WAS COMING OUT FROM THE HOLE LEFT BY THE BALL JOINT COUPLING. THE FENDER WAS ALSO DAMAGED BY THE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE POLICE OFFICER NOTED THAT WE WERE LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT WOULD HAVE LIKELY ENDED UP FLIPPING THE CAR AS IT WAS SUCH A SEVERE FAILURE. IT TOOK THE TOW-TRUCK OPERATOR OVER 20 MINUTES TO GET HE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK AS THE WHEEL COULD NOT BE STEERED DUE TO THE FAILURES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-9. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 62 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE LOWER BALLS JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, BOTH FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARERS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO BOTH FRONT TIRES AND TWO SET OF TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS TURNED COMPLETELY HORIZONTAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINTS SEPARATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON ROAD AT APPROXIMATLEY 20 MPH THE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE AXLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.
GEAR OIL LEAKING OUT OF THE TRANSFER CASE VENT TUBE. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL FUNCTION. ONLY WAY TO CHECK LEVEL IS TO REMOVE FILL PLUG AND STICK FINGER IN. THE ONLY SAFE WAY TO GET TO THIS IS PUTTING VEHICLE UP ON A LIFT. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. IF NOT CAUGHT RIGHT AWAY TRANSFER CASE CAN FAIL ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION. THERE IS NO INFO ON CHANGING THIS OIL AT CERTAIN INTERVALS. FAILURE OF THESE TWO COMPONENTS CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AND COULD RESULT IN INJURY. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.
WENT TO DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY STATED THAT WE NEEDED TO REPLACE OUR LOWER BALL JOINTS, CONTROL ARMS, TIE ROD ENDS AND SWAY BAR LINKS BECAUSE NHTSB HAS BEEN RECEIVING COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2008 MAZDA CX-9S CRASHING DUE TO THESE ITEMS FAILING. THE DEALERSHIP BROUGHT IT OUR ATTENTION THAT DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, WE NEEDED THOSE ITEMS REPLACED. THEY SCARED US TO DEATH. WE SPEND $1,125 TO REPLACE THE ITEMS. I NOW HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THEY WERE CORRECT, THERE HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC CASES WHERE THE CARS CRASHED DUE TO THE SUSPENSION PARTS FAILING. I SURE HOPE THAT NHTSB MOVES FORWARD AND MAKES MAZDA PERFORM A RECALL. HOPEFULLY I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK FROM PAYING FOR THIS SERVICE. BALL JOINTS WARN HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT CONTROL ARMS-WORK AT MAZDA DEAL WAS TOLD VERY COMMON PROBLEM I DON'T KNOW WHY THERE ISN'T SAFETY RECALL ON THIS
08 MAZDA CX-9 MAKING LOUD NOISE UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. MADE A RIGHT TURN(5MPH) IN RESIDENTIAL AREA. WHILE MAKING THE TURN THE LEFT SIDE SUSPENSION/STEERING CAME APART CAUSING VEHICLE TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND LATER REPAIRED AT A FIRESTONE AUTO CARE. VEHICLE NEEDED REPAIRS TO CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY(REMOVE-REPLACE F CONTROL ARM/LOWER ONE SIDE).. LEFT NEW CV COMPLETE ASSEMBLY(REMOVE/INSTALL F AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY-LEFT). SWAY BAR LINK(REMOVE/REPLACE F STABILIZER BAR CONTROL LINK-BOTH). REPLACE FRONT SHOCK/STRUT ASSEMLY-BOTH SIDES. SUDDEN STOP ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO LEFT FRONT TIRE THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. TOTAL AMOUNT OF REPAIRS $1,756.96. PROVIDING THIS INFORMATION AFTER READING ON INTERNET THAT NHTSA WAS INVESTIGATING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS INVOLVING THIS VEHICLE AND FRONT END PROBLEMS.
ON 06 JUNE 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 1400 MY WIFE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. NEAR THE END OF THE TURN THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL BROKE LOOSE TURNING NEARLY 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND JAMMED ITSELF INTO THE REAR OF THE FENDER WELL. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY IMMOBILIZED AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT HAD FAILED AND BROKE COMPLETELY FREE. THIS CAUSED THE WHEEL TO TURN NEARLY 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY RIPPED OUT THE CV AXLE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTROL ARM/BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY, THE CV SHAFT, AND SWAY BAR LINK WAS REPLACED. THERE IS ALSO FENDER WELL AND BODY DAMAGE THAT WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. ON 10 JULY 2015, I NOTICED AN UNUSUAL INSTABILITY WHILE NEGOTIATING WIDE TURNS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE HAD A WHEEL LOOSE. WHILE TURNING TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABRUPTLY TURN EVEN SHARPER TO RIGHT ALMOST CAUSING AN UNINTENTIONAL LANE CHANGE. AFTER COMING OUT OF THE TURN I COULD FEEL THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY CORRECT ITSELF. ONCE I ARRIVED AT MY RESIDENCE I JACKED UP THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT THE FRONT WHEELS. THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL SEEMED NORMAL (WAS REPAIRED IN JUNE 2015 AS MENTIONED ABOVE). MUCH TO MY DISMAY WHEN INSPECTING THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL, I DISCOVERED THAT THE BALL JOINT ON THIS SIDE IS NOW BROKE. IT IS NOT SEPARATED, BUT IS CLEARLY BROKEN AS EVIDENCED BY THE EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT AND CLUNKING NOISE WHEN MOVING THE WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE AS IT IS SUSPENDED ABOVE THE GROUND FROM THE CAR BEING ON A JACK. I WILL BE HAVING THIS REPAIRED THIS WEEK ONCE PARTS ARRIVE FROM THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER. BOTTOM LINE: I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A PARKING LOT ONTO A ROAD WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN A LOUD CRUNCH HAPPENED, THE VEHICLE JERKED LEFT WHILE STILL MOVING FORWARD AND I WAS UNABLE TO STEER OR BREAK. THE CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND I COULDN'T GET THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN. I WALKED AROUND TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND NOTICED LOOSE PARTS THAT HAD BEEN EJECTED FROM THE WHEEL, LEAKING BREAK FLUID, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED AND HAD WEDGED UNDER THE CAR. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE MOVED OUT OF THE ROAD THUS CREATING A TRAFFIC JAM. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THE CONTROL ARM WAS BROKEN AND THAT MY GIRLS AND I ARE LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT 4 DAYS AGO AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS COVERED UNDER TREAD LIABILITY LAWS? I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE CAR/WHEEL THAT WERE TAKEN AT THE SCENE IF NEEDED.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR CX-9 WITH OUR KIDS ON SATURDAY WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. THIS PREVENTED HER FROM BRAKING AT A RED LIGHT. THERE WERE NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS AT A RECOMMENDED LEVEL SINCE THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED. WE TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER (WHERE WE ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE). ON REMOVAL OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP FOUND THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED BECAUSE IT WAS FULL OF BRAKE FLUID. ON CLOSER INSPECTION THEY FOUND THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS CRACKED WHICH LED TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER FILLING UP AND CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THEY SAID THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY RECALL SINCE THIS ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS TO 2010-2011 MODEL YEAR CX-9'S EVEN THOUGH OUR 2008 CX-9 EXHIBITS THE SAME EXACT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER DEFECT. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY RECALL (FROM MAZDA NOTES: PERFORM MANUFACTURERS RECALL SSP93 POWER BRAKE UNIT WARRANTY). THE ONLY THING THAT PREVENTED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WAS THIS HAPPENED EARLY ON A SATURDAY MORNING WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC. IF THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED MONDAY-FRIDAY AT THE SAME TIME IF WOULD'VE BEEN A SEVERE ACCIDENT SINCE IT'S A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION DURING THE WORK WEEK. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR THE 2008-2011 MAZDA CX-9'S.

I HAD BEEN HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE IN MY CAR WHEN I WENT TO MAKE LEFT OR RIGHT HAND TURNS FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK. AFTER HAVING MY MECHANIC INVESTIGATE HE TOOK A LOOK AT THE BALL JOINTS, THEY ARE 'NON-SERVICEABLE,' WHICH MEANS THEY ARE A SEALED UNIT. HE SAID FROM WHAT HE COULD TELL THEY WERE FINE. LATER THAT DAY I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. MY WHEELS WERE SPINNING IN THE SNOW, I GOT OUT AND TOOK A LOOK AND MY FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS OFF! THE BALL JOINT WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED THE CAR. THE ONLY THING SECURING THE WHEEL TO THE CAR WAS THE TIE ROD. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO MY GARAGE BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE (ONE PER SIDE) ALONG WITH THE CV JOINT. THEY WERE REPLACED WITH MAZDA PARTS. INSPECTION ON THE PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE REVEALED THERE WAS BARELY ANY GREASE IN THAT BALL JOINT. I HAD LUCK ON MY SIDE THAT DAY OTHERWISE I AM CERTAIN SOMEONE WOULD HAVE DIED. *TR
I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS I TURNED LEFT INTO A DRIVEWAY AND CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. WHEN I GOT OUT TO INSPECT, I FOUND THAT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE HAD DISENGAGED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A NON-DEALER SERVICE FACILITY, WHICH DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT FRONT BALL JOINT HAD BROKEN. THE BALL JOINT, AXLE AND SWAY BAR LINK WERE REPLACED. THE NEXT WEEK, I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE SERVICE FACILITY, AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE SAME REPAIRS WERE NEEDED ON THE RIGHT FRONT, AS WELL AS REPLACEMENT OF THE TIE ROD ENDS ON THE LEFT FRONT. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THESE REPAIRS, I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALER FOR A FULL ("USED CAR") INSPECTION. I MENTIONED THE REPAIRS I'D HAD DONE, AND THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH BALL JOINTS ON CX-9S. I HAD BEEN TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY (70 MPH) NOT FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE BALL JOINT BROKE. I HATE TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IT HAD BROKEN AT THAT SPEED.

I NOW BELIEVE THE DEALER DID NOT PROPERLY INSPECT THE BALL JOINT, WHICH WAS ALREADY DAMAGED AND FAILING. TWELVE MONTHS AFTER THIS INCIDENT THE LEFT CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. AND EIGHT MONTHS AFTER THAT THE DRIVESHAFT, TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION ALL REQUIRED REPLACEMENT, COSTING US ANOTHER $5000 IN REPAIRS. THE MUSIC WAS PLAYING AND THE FOUR VEHICLE OCCUPANTS WERE RELAXED AND TALKING. SUDDENLY WITH A VERY LOUD SOUND THE SUN ROOF GLASS EXPLODED/SHATTERED COVERING ALL OCCUPANTS IN GLASS SHARDS. THE DRIVER MAINTAINED COMPLETE CONTROL ON THE VEHICLE AND MADE AN IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY STOP. THE PASSENGER FRONT OCCUPANT INJURED HER NECK DURING THE VIOLENT REACTION FROM THE SOUND/EXPLOSION AND COVERING IN GLASS AND WILL NEED TREATMENT. NOTHING STRUCK THE VEHICLE!!! UPON RESEARCHING, I WAS MADE AWARE THAT SEVERAL OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE POSTED THEIR EXPERIENCE THAT EXACTLY MATCHED WHAT I EXPERIENCED. I NEED TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AND WARN OTHER INNOCENT DRIVERS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR MAIMED. I HAVE BEEN SEEKING LEGAL ACTION BECAUSE MAZDA IS DOING A COMPLETE COVER UP, IDENTICAL TO HOW TOYOTA HANDLED THEIR UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION CASES FOR MANY YEARS BEFORE PEOPLE BEGAN DYING. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE DEALER WHO WAS SHOCKED THAT I KNEW ABOUT THE REPAIRS AND TOLD ME THAT YES, THEY WERE REPLACING PARTS BUT THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. NOW THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN FIXED, I'M NOT ABLE TO PROVE THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. HAD THERE BEEN SNOW OR OTHER ROAD CONDITIONS, I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I HAVE LOTS OF BACK UP DOCUMENTATION I CAN PROVIDE. . I PUSHED AS HARD AS I COULD WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE (KNEES LOCKED), THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND THE CAR IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHOM INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,200. UPDATED 04/26/12*LJ ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR INVOICE, THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS LEAKING DUE TO CORROSION FROM BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BOOSTER. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 04/27/12

THE FAILURE AND HE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,175.

THE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFECT COULD POSSIBLY BE CONTRIBUTED TO AN INTERNAL BRAKE FLUID LEAK. CURRENTLY, THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE11026 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:MASTER CYLINDER). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
BROUGHT INTO THE MAZDA DEALER SCHAUMBURG,IL DUE TO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ; THE TCF OF LIGHT OFF LIGHT ,THE RED BRAKE LIGHT AND THE STABILITY INDICATOR. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT UNAWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS RELATED TO THIS INCIDENT. CLAIMED THEIR THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW BUT NO LEAK WITH THE BRAKE FLUID. THE DEALER FILLED UP THE BRAKE FLUID. ( LIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY COME ON WHEN BREAKING ON HILLS OR INCLINES) I WAS WORKING IN MADISON , WI. 8/20/12-8/24/12-SAME PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE- WITH WARNING LIGHTS. ALTHOUGH, NOW I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STOPPING THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC. I BROUGHT THE CX9 TO MAZDA , ELMHURST IL. THE DEALER STATED THE CAR HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE POWER BOOSTER WERE LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILES WAS 54,400 MILES. THE REPAIR IS GOING TO BE $950 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THAT MAZDA SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR SINCE MY VEHICLE IS ONE OF 37,000 VEHICLES WITH THE PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT REPAIRED . I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS ISN'T BEING CHECKED DURING THE SERVICE CHECK UPS AND OR BEING RECALLED BY MAZDA. THIS REPAIR ISN'T A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR REPAIR AND THE REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED BY MAZDA. *TR
