MY BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND AS THEY NORMALLY WOULD UPON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION ON THURSDAY MORNING. IT FELT ALMOST LIKE THERE WAS A PILLOW UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS OCCURRED ONCE ON THURSDAY MORNING, AND ONCE ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON. FRIDAY EVENING BRAKE FLUID WAS FILLED TO ENSURE THAT THERE WAS NOT A LACK OF FLUID CAUSING THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM AGAIN OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON FRIDAY EVENING AFTER ADDING BRAKE FLUID. BY SATURDAY MORNING IT WAS WORSENING BOTH IN FREQUENCY (OCCURRING WITH EVERY APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE) AND SEVERITY (FELT AS THOUGH NO MATTER HOW LONG AND HARD I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES IT WOULD NOT PERFORM IN A MANNER THAT WOULD BE EFFECTIVE IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN VERY SLOW SPEEDS WITH EXCESSIVE SPACE BETWEEN ALL VEHICLES). ON SATURDAY IT ALSO BEGAN MAKING A HISSING NOISE WHICH OCCURRED AS I WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THEN STOPPED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS FINALLY FULLY DEPRESSED (WHICH TOOK AN EXTRAORDINARILY LONG TIME). I FELT IT WAS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE OTHER THAN TO GET IT TO OUR MECHANIC WHICH I DID ON MONDAY MORNING. OUR MECHANIC TESTED IT AND DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER HAD FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
NOTICE WHILE ON LINE FOR GAS, MAINTAINING FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL CAR BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD AND HAD TO APPLY MORE FOOT PRESSURE. CAR HAS 690000 MILES AND OVER 7 YEARS OLD. IN PARK WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL CAN HEAR A HISSING SOUND. SYMPTOMS GETTING WORST, BRAKING DISTANCES ARE LONGER AND TAKES MORE PEDAL PRESSURE.
CAR SURGES UNEXPECTEDLY EVEN WHEN GAS PEDAL NOT ENGAGED - CAN CAUSE A RUSHED FORWARD OR REVERSE MOTION, PUTTING PEDESTRIANS OR OTHER CARS AT RISK. THIS HAPPENS DAILY. PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED BY DEALERSHIP SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THERE IS A RELATED OIL LEAK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MAZDA CX-9 2011 HAS UN-DETECTED WATER PUMP LEAKS WHICH CAUSE TO ENGINE OVERHEAT AND EVENTUAL ENGINE DEATH. MAZDA CORPORATE IS UNWILLING TO CO-OPERATE. CAR SUDDENLY CAME TO A HALT SHOWING ENGINE LIGHT ON.
TAKATA RECALL I HAD TO PUT IN MY VIN TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR RECALLS & WAS SENT A MESSAGE BACK STATING THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY CAR. WHEN I LOOKED IT UP ON YOUR WEBSITE IT SAYS MY CAR IS IN RECALL FOR AIRBAGS AND LOWER CONTROL ARM. BUT ACCORDING TO THE MAZDA DEALER & THE MAZDA WEBSITE I DON'T HAVE ANY RECALLS ON MY CAR!!! SO TO DATE I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE ITEMS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED. WHEN THE RECALL FOR THE AIRBAGS CAME OUT I CONTACTED MAZDA & THERE WAS NO RECALL. AGAIN WHEN THE RECALL WAS EXPANDED I CONTACTED MAZDA. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE LIST. I WENT TO YOUR SITE TO SEE WHAT YOU HAD ABOUT MY CAR & DISCOVERED YOU HAVE 2 OPEN RECALLS ON MY CAR THAT AS FAR AS FAR AS MAZDA IS CONCERNED I HAVE NONE. YET YOU HAVE ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT I DO SO I AM TRYING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS. DOES MY CAR HAVE ANY RECALLS OR NOT? I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY CAR. NOW WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE REASON WHY I BOUGHT IT WITH HIGH MILEAGE WAS BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CERTIFIED PREOWNED. I WAS GIVEN THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL ON THE TRANSFER CASE WOULD BE VALID UNTIL 100000 MILE. SO WHEN MY TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AT 92000 MILES. I CONTACTED MAZDA & AFTER MONTHS OF BACK & FORTH I WAS TOLD I DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR THEM TO TAKE CARE OF THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE A MONSTER TOOK A BITE OUT OF THE TRANSFER CASE AT 92000 MILES BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THEIR RECORDS MY CAR WAS NOT CERTIFIED PREOWNED. IASKED TO RECONSIDER BECSUSE THE TRANSFER CASE WSS COMPLETELY DESTROYED ST 92000. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT MAKE AN EXCEPTION WITH ME BECSUSE THEN THEY'D HAVE TO MAKE EXCEPTIONS FOR OTHERS. I WAS TOLD TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALER I'M GETTING IN TOUCH ABOUT THAT THIS WEEK. THERE IS SOMETHING ODD ABOUT ALL OF THIS. HOW COME MAZDA DOESN'T HAVE THE RECALLS FOR MY CAR THAT YOU HAVE?
64300 MILES ON ODOMETER AND AM EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AT 35 - 45 MPH IN 5TH GEAR. TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM? PRETTY LOW MILES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SMH
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE, CAUSING BRAKES TO NOT ENGAGE WITHOUT PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL. NO CHECK ENGINE OR MAINTENANCE LIGHTS WERE TRIGGERED DUE TO THE FAILURE. ONLY INDICATION WAS ENGINE REVVING WHILE IDLE FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND INABILITY TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP.
MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT A MONTH AGO. I CHANGED THE HID BULBS, THE FUSE AND NOTHING WAS WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A MAZDA DEALER FOR MY WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT IT. AFTER MAZDA CHECKED IT OUT, THEY FOUND MY HID BALLAST WAS FRIED DUE TO WATER CONDENSATION. MY HEAD LIGHT IS NOT BROKEN OR MISSING ANY PARTS. MY WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT. I HAVE READ IN SEVERAL SITES THAT THIS IS COMMON AND MAZDA KNOW ABOUT IT AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES CAUSE OF THIS.
ANY TIME THERE IS EVEN A SLIGHT INCLINE IN THE ROAD AND ANYTHING THAT COULD LESSEN TRACTION SUCH AS A LITTLE GRAVEL, MY TIRES SPIN AND THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. IT'S ESPECIALLY BAD IN ANY TYPE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, RAIN, SNOW, SLEET. I LOOSE ALL TRACTION. THE BACK TIRES DO NOT MOVE AT ALL AND THE FRONT TIRES SPIN. THE TIRES HAVE GOOD TREADS.
TAKATA INFLATORS RECALL? NO INCIDENT TO REPORT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT WAS EXTREMELY FIRM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GRADUALLY THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARDINALEWAY MAZDA-PEORIA (8424 W BELL RD, PEORIA, AZ 85382, (623) 738-0755) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE BOOSTER SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
DRIVERS LOW LIGHT BALLAST TOOK ON WATER AND RUSTED OUT CAUSING THE HEADLIGHT TO SHORT OUT.
LOST BRAKING POWER. PEDAL HAS TO GO TO FLOOR TO WORK.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE BRAKE PEDAL HISSING AND STARTED TO STIFFEN I WAS DRIVING THEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE HISSING AND WAS REALLY HARD TO PUSH ON TO A COMPLETE STOP
SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT, MY BRAKE PEDAL CAME UP AND THE CAR DIED. RESTARTED IT, AND IT RAN FINE. HAPPENED AGAIN AT A STOPLIGHT. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP WHO SAID IT WAS A "MAZDA" ISSUE . WITHIN A WEEK, MY BRAKES STARTED TO NOT WORK. I TOOK IT TO MAZDA & THEY TOLD ME I WAS PAST THE 90,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY. I ASKED THEM WHY THEY WOULDN'T HONOR FIXING IT WHEN IT WAS A MAZDA ISSUE AND THEY JUST SAID I WAS PAST THE WARRANTY. BEWARE OF BUYING A "CERTIFIED USED CAR"! WARRANTIES/RECALLS WILL NOT BE SENT TO YOU!

STIFF PEDAL. NO BRAKES
MY CARS BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY BECAME STIFF AND WOULD NOT STOP MY CAR. I HAD TO SWERVE TO PREVENT MYSELF FROM REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. AT THE NEXT STOP LIGHT I WAS EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS AND AFTER I FINALLY STOPPED, AS I WAITED FOR THE GREEN LIGHT THE CAR BEGAN IDLING ODDLY THEN IT STALLED. WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP. IT SEEMS TO BE SHIFTING A LITTLE ODDLY TOO. VERY SCARY DRIVING MY CAR. INCREDIBLY LUCKY WE WEREN'T INJURED NOR WAS ANYONE ELSE. WILL HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP TO BE SAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 40 MPH, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ATTEMPTED MAKE A LEFT TURN, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE ONTO A DIRT ROAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI MAZDA DEALER (14821 PANDELLI ROAD VICTORVILLE, CA 92392 PHONE 760-241-3801) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE WAS NOT WARRANTED FOR 90,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
HAD A PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AS INDICATED BY THE WARNING LIGHT APPEARING ON THE DASH. DEALER CONTACTED THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT TO FILE A CLAIM AND SAID THAT IS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY FELT IT WAS DUE TO DIRT AND NOT A FAULTY SENSOR. THE DEALER NEVER CONFIRMED ONE OR THE OTHER. SECOND ISSUE IS RELATED TO A HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE BREAK PEDDLE. RESEARCH SUGGESTED MAZDA WAS INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA BACK IN 2014 AND INSTEAD OF A RECALL, MAZDA ISSUED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 7 YEARS OR 90K MILES. UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE IS WITHIN THE 7 YEARS BUT NOT THE 90K. I AM CURRENTLY AT 97K MILES. STILL WAITING TO SEE IF MAZDA WILL COVER THE REPAIR OR AT LEAST DISCOUNT IT.
BREAKBOOSTER WHEN WE ASKED OUR MECHANIC TO CHECK IT AND END UP AFTER CALLING MAZDA FREMONT THAT IT IS COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS. WHILE DRIVIG I THOUGHT I LOSS MY BREAK AND WAS NOT FULLY WORKING. WAS SCARED . MAZDA FREMONT ASSISTED US AND PROVIDED US A TEMPORARY CAR TO USE.
WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY OR ON HIGHWAY SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD TO PRESS AND CREEPS DOWN TO FLOOR WITH LOSS OF BRAKE BOOSTER, A HISSING NOISE IS HEARD IN THE CAR AND IT BECOMES VERY HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 MAZDA CX-9 AND THE CAR WAS SMELLING LIKE IT WAS BURNING AND THEN IT SOUNDED LIKE A PILE OF ROCKS BEING TOSSED AROUND I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SOMETHING EXPLODED THE CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND SMOKE CAME FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. I HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSFER CASE WENT OUT AND MESSED UP THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT MAZDA HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR SOME TIME AND HAS FAILED TO NOTIFY THE CUSTOMER. THIS PROBLEM HAS APPARENTLY CAUSED VEHICLES TO CATCH FIRE WHILE DRIVING. AFTER CONTACTING MAZDA THEY SAY THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 90,000 MILES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HASN'T NOTIFIED THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE. MAZDA SAYS IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE (WHICH I DISAGREE WITH, IT COULD CAUSE GREAT HARM OR DEATH) AND IT HASN'T BEEN REPORTED ENOUGH. MAZDA SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE BUT NOT THE LABOR OR TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED SINCE APPARENTLY IT'S HAPPENING IN ALL CX-9 VEHICLES BETWEEN CERTAIN YEARS. IT'S A DEFECTIVE PART, NOTHING I DID AND I AM LEFT TO PAY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT MAZDA KNOWS IS THEIR FAULT. MY CAR HAS BETWEEN 90,400 AND 90,500 MILES AND I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS KIND OF MAJOR PROBLEM WITH A VEHICLE UNDER 100,000 MILES. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN AN INTERSTATE AT 70MPH I HAVE TO WONDER IF I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURY OR IF MY CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A REMEDY FROM MAZDA FOR A NOTIFICATION LETTER I RECEIVED BACK IN JULY 2016 TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG. HOW LONG DOES A MANUFACTURER HAS TO COMPLY WITH A RECALL? I CANNOT USE THE PASSENGER'S SEAT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL FUMES WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE COULD BE HEARD FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED REPLACEMENT BUT THE REPAIRS WERE NOT COMPLETED. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS THEN CONFIRMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.
TRANSFER CASE - HAD UNUSUAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE TRANSFER CASE THAT LEAD ME TO LOSE STEERING AND DRIVING CAPABILITY WHEN DRIVING TO WORK. TOOK MY CAR TO CAR DEALER AND THE TRANSFER CASE WAS GROUND DOWN AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS RUSTING. HAD NO WATER DAMAGE AND COST OVER $4,000. SINCE HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT MANY MAZDA OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCES ISSUES WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. *TR
2011 MAZDA CX-9. CONSUMER REQUESTS RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACEMENT AND FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS RECALL NOTICES REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE. *SMD
2011 MAZDA CX-9 TRANSFER CASE BREAKDOWN WHILE MOVING DUE TO FLUID LEAKING OUT, CAUSING SEVERE WEAR ON THE TRANSMISSION AND DISABLING VEHICLE. MY WIFE HEARD A STRANGE SOUND 2 WEEKS AGO AND WHEN SHE PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE, THERE WAS A STRANGE SMELL, LIKE BURNT WIRE OR ROTTEN EGG SMELL. HAD IT EVALUATED AT THE LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY DIAGNOSED LEAKING FLUID FROM TRANSFER CASE, WHICH DESTROYED THE BEARINGS AND THREADS AROUND THE SHAFT. THE MECHANIC SAYS THIS FLUID IS NEVER SUPPOSED TO HAVE TO BE CHANGED ACCORDING TO THE MAZDA MANUAL. AND THERE IS SO LITTLE FLUID IN THE TRANSFER CASE, IT IS HARD TO DETECT THE LEAKING WHEN IT HAPPENS. I CHECKED ON GOOGLE AND THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR REPORTS OF TRANFER CASE FAILURE. ONE GUY HAD FOUR TRANSFER CASES INSTALLED IN THE FIRST 20,000 MILES AFTER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW. THIS IS DANGEROUS. IF THE TRANSFER CASE FAILS AT NIGHT OR DURING A SNOWSTORM, PEOPLE COULD GET KILLED. NOT TO MENTION THE $3,000.00 TO $8,000.00 BILL FOR REPAIR DEPENDING ON WHETHER IT IS JUST THE TRANSFER CASE OR IF IT ALSO THE TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDS REPAIR. THIS MATTER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS A RECALL ITEM. APPARENTLY, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS AND EXTENSIONS OF TRANSFER CASE WARRANTIES OFFERED BY MAZDA. THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD, WITH THE EDMUND'S COMPLAINTS OF FAILURE INCLUDING THE YEARS 2008-2014. IT DOES NOT NECESSARILY RLEATE TO THE AMOUNT OF MILES ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE MANY HAVE FAILED SHORTLY AFTER BEING PURCHASED NEW. THE FACT THAT MAZDA HAS HANDLED THIS ON AN INDIVIDUAL EVENT BASIS AND VERY QUIETLY HAS KEPT THIS FROM BECOMING NEWSWORTHY BUT THE PROBLEM IS SO WIDESPREAD, DANGEROUS AND COSTLY, THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD GET INVOLVED.
A STRANGE, HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE PEDAL AREA. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME PUSHING THE PEDAL DURING 'INITIAL PEDAL APPLICATION', BUT THAT EFFORT DIMINISHED AS THE PEDAL WAS PRESSED FURTHER WHILE DRIVING. THE BRAKES BOOSTER SQUEALS VERY LOUD IF YOU PUSH THE BRAKES DOWN WHILE NOT MOVING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE THAT MAZDA HAD CONFIRMED.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSFER CASE, BUT IT EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER HISSING AND SQUEALING WHILE ENGINE IS IN IDLE. AFTER REVVING (AND RELEASING) TO 2000 RPM'S AND APPLYING (HOLDING) BRAKE PRESSURE SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE BUILD UP VACUUM PRESSURE DOES NOT ALLOW ENGINE TO RETURN TO IDLE RPM. RPM HANGS AT 1500 RPM'S. IF VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE WHILE ACCOMPLISHING THIS THEN THE BRAKE PRESSURE APPLIED IS NOT ENOUGH TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. AFTER FIND THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND PREVIOUS MESSAGE BOARDS ABOUT THIS ISSUED WERE POSTED IN EARLY 2014 BUT A RECALL WAS NEVER ISSUED. REPORTED THE ISSUE TO MAZDA (20161012) BUT WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS 30K OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THEN THE ISSUE BELONGS TO THE CONSUMER. (MAZDAREF 1-368-227-539).
AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON A CITY STREET, I LOST ALL STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED - MAZADA THOUGHT IT WAS A SUCTION FROM THE BRAKE AND A TUBE THAT WAS BROKEN. DRIVING FROM WORK TODAY ON A HIGHWAY BEHIND AN ELECTRIC TRUCK THAT STOPPED ABRUPTLY, I APPLIED MY BREAKS KIND OF QUICKLY AND AFTER STOPPING AND TAKING OFF AGAIN WHEN TRYING TO APPLY BRAKES TO SLOW THE PEDDLE WOULD BE REALLY HARD TO PRESS AND IT FELT LIKE THE PEDDLE WAS PUSHING UP AGAINST YOU. THERE IS A HISSING NOISE WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED AND IF YOU PRESS THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR THERE IS A SQUEALING NOISE. THE HISSING NOISE IS INSIDE THE CARE AND SOUNDS TO BE COMING FROM AROUND THE BRAKE PEDDLE AREA. THE CAR CAN NOT BE DROVE AT THIS TIME BECAUSE WHEN IN MOVEMENT THE BRAKE IS REALLY HARD TO PRESS AND IT TAKES VERY LONG DISTANCES TO GET STOPPED. I CAN'T PUT MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR TO GO ANYPLACE!
THERE WAS A RATAL SOUND ANYTIME I WOULD GO OVER A BUMP OR DIP AT ANY SPEED. THE RATAL GOT LOUDER. I WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE CALIPERS IN THE FRONT HAD TO BE REPLACED. SPECIFICALLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE IT LOOKED WORN AND THERE WAS RUST SO HE THOUGHT MOISTURE HAD GOT INTO THE CALIPERS. THOUGHT THIS WAS UNUSAL. SO BOTH HAD TO BE REPLACED IN ADDITION TO MY BRAKES. IT ALSO CAUSED MY BRAKES NOT TO FUNCTION CORRECTLYL.

AS I WAS DRIVING MY MAZDA CX-9, I HEARD A LOUD BANGING AGAINST THE RIGHT BACK SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE BANGING NOISE WAS EVEN LOUDER. WHEN I CHECKED THE RIGHT BACK TIRE, AT LEAST A FOOT OF THE OUTER TREAD OF THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY MISSING DOWN TO THE STEEL. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED.

NAMPA ID) FOR RECALL REPLACEMENTS AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 2 WEEKS FOR PARTS TO BE ORDERED & DELIVERED. AUGUST 8TH, I CALLED TEAM MAZDA AFTER NOT RECEIVING ANY CALL/ NOTIFICATION AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK. STILL NO CALL BACK (AUGUST 9TH; THREE WEEKS LATER).
REFERENCE SSP93 - BRAKE BOOSTER DIAPHRAGM LEAKAGE ON 2010-2012 MAZDA CX-9 VEHICLES. ON, OR ABOUT AUGUST 5, 2016 POWER BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING A NEED TO APPLY HEAVIER THAN NORMAL PEDAL PRESSURE TO STOP VEHICLE, RESULTING IN VERY NEAR REAR-END COLLISION WITH VEHICLE AT STOP SIGN. THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN BY THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA IN 2014. INVESTIGATION WAS CLOSED WITH NO RECALL ACTION RECOMMENDED. THERE SHOULD INDEED BE A RECALL MANDATED FOR THIS DEFECT SINCE IT CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS COLLISIONS DUE TO FAILURE TO SAFELY STOP VEHICLE.

BRAKES RESIST WHEN TRYING TO STOP, TAKING LONGER TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP(AT ANY SPEEDS). ONCE STOPPED BRAKE COMPRESSES ALL THE WAY DOWN ON ITS OWN, FEELS LIKE THE CAR WILL START ROLL. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IT MAKES AN AIR DECOMPRESSION SOUND. WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKED POSITION AND BRAKING, CAR COASTS A LITTLE WHEN BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY PRESSED DOWN. VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT I REALIZED WAS RELATED TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE THAT I RECEIVED EARLIER IN THE YEAR. I ATTEMPTED TO GET THIS REPAIR AT THE FIRST SERVICE I SCHEDULED AFTER RECEIVING NOTICE AND MAZDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT REFUSED TO COMPLETE SERVICE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T THINK MY CAR NEEDED IT.
BRAKES HAVE SUDDENLY BECOME ERRATIC. OFTEN THEY ARE "HARD" AND REQUIRE EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL, AND MAZDA EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO COVER THE ISSUE; HOWEVER, THAT EVIDENTLY DOES NOT APPLY TO SECOND OWNERS.

THERE IS AN ISSUE WHEN USING THE BRAKES WHERE THERE'S A LOSS OF POWER ASSIST MAKING THE BRAKES REALLY HARD TO PUSH AT TIMES, A SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY WITH SUPER SPONGY PEDALS, AND A STRANGE, HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE PEDAL AREA. THESE ISSUES HAPPEN CONCURRENTLY WHEN DRIVING IN THE CITY OR HIGHWAY AND WHENEVER THE CAR IS IN REVERSE OR DRIVE.

MY VEHICLE HAS TWO UNRESOLVED RECALLS. THE FIRST DATES BACK TO JULY 2015 RELATED TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION BALL JOINT FITTING. THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF SOUTH BAY MAZDA ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED NOR HAVE I EVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM THEM. A SECOND RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR MAZDA CX-9S RELATED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN MAY 2016. DUE TO THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT SOUTH BAY MAZDA I'VE TAKEN MY BUSINESS TO CULVER CITY MAZDA. CULVER CITY MAZDA GAVE ME A RENTAL VEHICLE ON AUG 8TH 2016 WHILE MAZDA NA ORDERS AND DELIVERS PARTS. I'VE HAD THE RENTAL VEHICLE FOR NEARLY THREE MONTHS WITH NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. IT'S VERY STRESSFUL TO DRIVE A RENTAL VEHICLE WHICH I WILL BE LIABLE FOR IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO IT WHILE IN MY POSSESSION. IT'S ALSO VERY DISTURBING THAT THESE RECALLS ARE TAKING SO LONG TO REMEDY. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH MAZDA AT THIS POINT. WE'RE GROWING MORE CONCERNED WITH WHAT THE OUTCOME OF THESE RECALLS WILL BE AND FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FAMILY IN OUR CAR WHEN IT'S RETURNED.
I TOOK MY CAR TO HALL IN BROOKFIELD WI TO FIX A RECALL ISSUE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY FIXED THE RECALL ISSUE BUT NOTICED ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL BUSHINGS BECAUSE THEY WERE TORN. THEY CHARGED ME OVER $500 FOR THIS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE THE ISSUE WAS EXASPERATED BY THE RECALL ISSUE AND I AM NOT SURE WHY I HAD TO PAY. I HONESTLY BELIEVE IT WAS A WAY FOR THE DEALER TO CHARGE ME FOR THE RECALL WORK BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. I AM ATTACHING RECEIPTS FOR THE WORK HALL DID TO THIS COMPLAINT. NOW MY CAR IS HAVING ISSUES WITH PROPERLY ACCELERATING AND IS VERY LOUD.
