I WAS ORIGINALLY MISQUOTED IN MY COMPLAINT TAKEN OVER THE PHONE SO I AM WRITING THIS AS A CLARIFICATION OF THE EVENT THAT OCCURRED. I OWN A 2004 MAZDA 6S. WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE AT A SPEED NO MORE THAN 10MPH, THE BRAKES DISENGAGED FOR 2-3 SECS WHILE THE BRAKE WAS STILL BEING APPLIED. I WAS CERTAIN THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO JUMP THE CURB, WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN. THE BRAKES RE-ENGAGED CAUSING MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER TO LUNGE FORWARD VIOLENTLY. UPON TAKING THE CAR TO A MAZDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THE CAR WAS TEST DRIVEN, THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS CHECKED, AND FOUND TO WORK NORMALLY AT THE TIME OF SERVICING. *NM
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKES DISENGAGED, ALMOST CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO OTHER VEHICLES. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD DURING THE INCIDENT. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES LOCK. THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE BRAKES BECAME INOPERATIVE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SKID AND SUBSEQUENTLY COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 MAZDA 6S I HAVE HAD TWO INCIDENTS WHERE THE FUEL LINE HAS DETACHED FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE AND THE CAR HAS STALLED AND GASOLINE HAS POURED OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND I SHOULD RECEIVED IT IN THE MAIL , I LATER FOUND OUT THERE WAS NO RECALL . THEY THEN FIXED THE CAR SUPPOSELY AND THREE MONTHS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN.*AK
REAR WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER SYSTEM SHORTED OUT CAUSING THE REAR WINDSHIELD TO SHATTER. THE REAR SEAT WAS OCCUPIED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE REAR WINDSHIELD WAS TINTED, SO THE TINT PREVENTED THE GLASS FROM ENTERING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. E DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD, BUT WAS UNABLE TO RECONNECT THE REAR DEFROSTER SYSTEM. *AK *NM
ON THE 2004 MAZDA3 AFTER ABOUT 3000 MILES THE MAIN AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES, INDICATING A FAILURE OF SOME KIND IN THE SRS SYSTEM. THE TESTING SYSTEM RETURNS 2 OR 3 ERROR CODES HAVING TO DO WITH THE FRONT CRASH SENSOR. AND THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY, FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER FROM INTERNET MESSAGE BOARDS. MAZDA IS HANDLING THIS ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS, RATHER THAN MAKING A BLANKET REPAIR. IT SEEMS THE FRONT CRASH SENSORS ARE TIGHTENED TOO MUCH AND CRACK, THEN ONCE THEY GET WET THEY ARE TRIPPED AND DISABLE THE SYSTEM. LOCAL DEALERS ARE SAYING YOU CAN NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE LIKE THIS AND ARE HOLDING CUSTOMERS CARS FOR WEEKS AT A TIME TILL PARTS COME IN. WHICH IN MOST CASES HAVE BEEN BACK ORDERED, SOME HAVE HAD THE SENSORS REPLACED 2 OR MORE TIMES. IN MY CASE A LOCAL DEALER (NOT THE PURCHASE DEALER) ARE TELLING ME THAT AN AFTER MARKET REMOTE START IS TOTALLY TO BLAME., AND WILL NOT DIAGNOSE THE CAR FURTHER UNTIL THE SYSTEM IS REMOVED. AND IT COULD HAVE VOIDED MY WARRANTY. THIS IS JUST NOT RIGHT. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING A CAR I AM ASSUMING HAS NO AIRBAGS AND WITH NO OPTION TO GET IT LOOKED AT UNLESS I REMOVE A $300.00 ACCESSORY THAT WAS PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED BY AN ELECTRONICS CENTER THAT DOES ALL THE WORK FOR THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM. ALSO ON THE DROP DOWNS FOR THE VEHICLE TYPES - I HAD TO USE THE 6 SINCE YOU DO NOT HAVE THE 3 LISTED. VEHICLE DESIGN PROBLEM THAT COULD EASILY RESULT IN FATALITY. 2004 MAZDA 6S. THIS IS THE TRANSMISSION THAT CAN EITHER BE RUN AS FULL AUTOMATIC OR AS A SEMI MANUAL SHIFT. WHEN IN A PASSING SITUATION WITH THE THROTTLE FULLY OPEN, THE ENGINE JUMPS INTO ACTION AND THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS AS IT SHOULD. HOWEVER, IF THE GAS PEDAL IS KEPT PRESSED DOWN AS IN A PASSING SITUATION, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT UP SHIFT AT ANY POINT. THE RESULT IS THAT THE ENGINE RPMS WILL INCREASE TO THE POINT OF HITTING THE RED LINE. AT THAT POINT ANOTHER FEATURE SHUTS DOWN THE ENGINE UNTIL THE RPMS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE RED LINE. THE RESULT IS LOSS OF POWER AT THE MOST CRITICAL TIME IN THE PASSING MANEUVER. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE AND RETURN TO THE PREVIOUS PLACE BEHIND THE VEHICLE BEING PASSED, BUT ALMOST DID NOT MAKE IT. HAD I BEEN MUCH FURTHER FORWARD I WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE COLLIDED WITH THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY TESTED IT, TALKED WITH APPROPRIATE MAZDA SERVICE CENTER EXPERTS AND REPORTED THAT THERE WAS NO MALFUNTION - ALL SETTING WERE AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE. I CORRESPONDED WITH NORTH AMERICAN MAZDA VIA EMAIL (ATTACHED) AND FORWARDED THAT EMAIL STRING TO YOUR TECHNICAL INFORMATION SERVICE AT TIS@NHTSA.DOT.GOV. MAZDA CONTINUES TO SAY THAT NIETHER DESIGN DEFECT OR MALFUNCTION EXISTS. TO THEM IT IS AN OPERATOR PROBLEM. IF SO, ANYONE ACCUSTOMED TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS IN ALL OTHER CARS WILL FIND THEMSELVES IN THE SAME POSITION, UNAWARE OF THE POTENTIAL. ALL OTHER TRANSMISSIONS THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH UP SHIFT AT EITHER A CERTAIN SPEED OR VACUUM LEVEL WELL BEFORE THE ENGINE CAN GET TO DANGEROUS RPMS.*AK
THE VEHICLE DID NOT DRIVE STRAIGHT. IT CONSTANTLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED 5 TIMES IN WHICH THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS REALIGNED 4 TIMES. THE FIFTH TIME SOME BOLTS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE STILL EXIST. *JB
