WHILE DRIVING OUR 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE, MOST OF THE TIME WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE AND OTHER TIMES WHEN IT IS NOT, THE GAS PEDAL WILL BE SO STIFF THAT IT WILL BE STUCK IN THE NON- ACCELERATED POSITION. MY WIFE OR I WILL HAVE TO POUNCE DOWN ON IT A COUPLE FEW TIMES TO GET IT TO UNFREEZE AND BECOME OPERABLE AGAIN. (I'D SAY THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 30 TO 50 TIMES IN TOTAL SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT) TODAY, DECEMBER 1ST. 2009, MY WIFE WAS TAKING OUR DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND THE PEDAL FROZE IN THE NON-ACCELERATED POSITION AND SHE HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO CALL ME ON HER CELL PHONE. I WAS FEELING SICK AND IN BED AT THE TIME OF HER CALL AND GOT OUT OF BED TO GO HELP HER. THE PEDAL STAYED STUCK FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. SHE KEPT PUTTING PRESSURE ON IT, BUT IT WOULD NOT COME UNSTUCK. WHEN I GOT THERE, I PRESSED DOWN ON IT AND IT WAS RELEASED. MY WIFE KEEPS TELLING ME THIS IS DANGEROUS AND THAT WE NEED TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I HAVE FOUND RECALL INFO FOR THESE VEHICLES UP TO 2004 BUT NOT FOR 2005. WILL YOU PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO HELP US? WE ARE NOT ALONE. THE GAS PEDAL WILL GET STUCK IN THE UP POSITION PERIODICALLY. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN DURING THE COLD SEASONS. I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND ON COMING TRAFFIC IS APPROACHING DURING THE TIME I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO GET ON TO THE LANE AND MY ACCELERATOR GETS STUCK AND THE CAR IS STILL SLOWLY MOVING. I WILL LITERALLY HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY STOMP ON THE PEDAL TO GET IT TO GO DOWN AND ONCE IT DOES IT ACCELERATES QUICKLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FORWARD. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO THE CARBON BUILD UP ON THE BUTTERFLY CAUSING IT TO GET STUCK BUT EVEN AFTER GETTING THE FLUSH OUT IT CONTINUED TO GET STUCK WHILE I AM DRIVING. I HAVE GONE ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS ISSUE AND SURE ENOUGH THERE WAS. *TR
2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE - 21,500K MILES. FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE TAKING OWNERSHIP IN AUGUST 2005, THE ABS AND 4WD LIGHTS GO OFF WHENEVER THERE IS HEAVY RAINS OR SNOW. FIRST DEALER SERVICE DIAGNOSED AS REAL WHEEL TURNING OUT OF SYNC WITH OTHER WHEELS; SECOND DIAGNOSIS WAS THE NEED TO ADD GREASE SOMEWHERE; THIRD TIME HAPPENED AFTER DEALERSHIP HOURS AND NEXT MORNING LIGHTS FLASHED AGAIN AT STARTUP BUT TURNED OFF. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED HIS EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE ON THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY DURING COLD OR RAINY WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25.
I HAVE A 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE THAT FOR SOME REASON THE GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK, IT SEEMS TO DO THIS WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES FROM HOT TO COLD? *TR
MAZDA TRIBUTE 05. GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK IN THE UP POSITION AS I WAS TURNING IN AN INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NO CARS COMING PARKED ON THE GRASS. THIS HAPPENED 2XS. DEALERSHIP JUST STATED IT NEEDED A 150.00 THROTTLE HOUSING LUBRICATION. DID NOT HAVE IT DONE DUE TO IT WAS NOT COVERED ON THE WARRANTY. AFTER THIS TIME IT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIME TO ME AND JUST 2 DAYS AGO IT HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND WITH OUR KIDS IN THE CAR. LUCKILY AGAIN NO ACCIDENT. *NM
I PURCHASED A 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE IN JULY, 2005. THE STICKER ON THE CAR HAD AN AVERAGE MILEAGE OF 19 TO 24 MILES PER GALLON. I, TO THIS DATE GET 11 TO 13 MILES PER GALLON AND 17-19 ON THE HIGHWAY. I TRULY BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM OR THE ENGINE. CONTACTED MAZDA AND WAS TOLD EPA WAS TO BLAME AND I NEEDED TO LET THE CAR GET BROKEN IN. I CURRENTLY HAVE 6500 MILES AND STILL GET 11-13 MILES PER GALLON. I HAVE A 16 GALLON TANK AND GET ANYWHERE BETWEEN 180 TO 200 MILES PER TANK. DEALER SAYS NOTHING WRONG AND HASN'T REPLACED ANYTHING. *NM
ACCELERATOR PEDDLE BECAME STUCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE WHILE ENTERING PARKWAY. BREAKS FAILED. HAD TO STOP CAR USING EMERGENCY BREAK. MAZDA REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR CABLE AND THROTTLE.
MAY 9,2006 INVOLVED IN FRONT END COLLISION WHEN A VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME WITH APPROX. 3 FEET NOTICE, HIT VEHICLE IN DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WITH THE COMPLETE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE AT 35 MPH. VEHICLE DAMAGED TO THE POINT OF BREAKING AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT AND JERKED FORWARD ON IMPACT AND AIR BAG STATES THAT IT DEPLOYED BUT IT NEVER DEPLOYED. I AM NOW CURRENTLY SEEING PHYSICIANS AND SPECIALIST FOR NEUROSURGERY. MY VEHICLE IS STILL IN THE REPAIR SHOP AT THIS TIME, THEN IT WILL HAVE TO BE SENT BACK TO THE MAZDA DEALER TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND BE FIXED. AT THIS TIME IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED OR EVEN DETERMINED WHY IT DID NOT DEPLOY. IF IT DID NOT DEPLOY AT 35 MPH CRASH I AM CONCERNED TO EVEN DRIVE IT AGAIN. THIS WAS MY FIRST EVER ACCIDENT IN 25 YEARS OF DRIVING AND I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER, BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT A DEFECT SINCE I AM BEING TOLD BY ALL THE EXPERTS THAT IT SHOULD HAVE. *JB

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY, THEN STALLED. DRIVER RESTARTED VEHICLE AFTER TEN MINUTES. THEN, TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION COIL SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RANDOMLY LOCKS IN PLACE. SHE LITERALLY HAS TO STOMP ON THE PEDAL TO GET IT TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED AND SHE HAS TO MAKE 4 OR 5 ATTEMPTS TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE WEATHER AND DRIVING SPEED WERE NOT FACTORS. THE PEDAL WAS REPAIRED, BUT BEGAN STICKING AGAIN WEEKS LATER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
MAZDA TRIBUTE 2005 GEAR SHIFT LEVER LOCK IN PARKING POSITION. *BF THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEY INDICATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. *NM
2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE HAS A DEFECT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR WHEN THE CONSUMER WOULD LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL THE VEHICLE WOULD VEER TO THE LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE VEHICLE'S ALIGNMENT WAS ADJUSTED, ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED AND THE FRONT END SUSPENSION CRADLE WAS MOVED BUT NONE OF THESE REPAIRS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THEY PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE BRAKES MADE NOISE WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED THEN REPLACED BUT THE NOISE PERSISTED. AT ONE TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TOT HE FLOOR. *NM
I PURCHASED THE 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE IN DEC '04. WITHIN ONE MONTH, THE GAS PEDAL WOULD STICK IN THE UP POSITION AND IT WOULD TAKE SIGNIFICANT EFFORT TO UNLOCK THE PEDAL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT *STILL UNDER WARRANTY* AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. HOWEVER, IT HAS CONTINUED TO BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM EVER SINCE. I'VE BROUGHT IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP (ROYAL MOORE MAZDA) AND THEY TELL ME EVERY TIME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECORD OF REPAIRS (SINCE THEY SAID THEY NEVER FOUND ANYTHING TO BEGIN WITH) AND THAT THEY STILL CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THE ISSUE IS GETTING WORSE. I'VE BEEN DOING RESEARCH AND FIND HUNDREDS OF OTHER MAZDA TRIBUTE OWNERS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. AT WHAT POINT DOES THIS BECOME A RECALL ISSUE? I'VE NARROWLY MISSED BEING REAR ENDED MANY TIMES DUE TO THE GAS PEDAL BEING STUCK IN PLACE. AND THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK IT IS TO "STOMP" ON IT. WE NEED ASSISTANCE BEFORE PEOPLE DIE - IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY AND THEREFORE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO TELL ANYONE ABOUT WHY THEY DIED. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND IT IS GETTING SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE. THE DEALERSHIPS CONSTANTLY DENY THERE IS A PROBLEM, AND I HONESTLY BELIEVE IT'S DUE TO THE BIGGER ISSUE OF ALL MAZDA TRIBUTE OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
WHEN FUELING I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO OVER RIDE THE PUMP DUE TO THE FACT THAT PUMP TURNS OFF PREMATURELY. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD I DO FIND IT AN INCONVENIENCE. I HAVE ALSO HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM. *JB
WHEN THE BRAKES OF THE CONSUMER'S 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE WERE APPLIED THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. *NM THERE WAS A RATTLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE, THE DRIVERS MIRROR VIBRATED, THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR IN THE AUTO DIMMING MIRROR REGISTERED INCORRECTLY, THE WIPER DID NOT HAVE COMPLETE CONTACT WITH THE WINDOW AND THERE WAS A RUST SPOT ON THE INSIDE LIP OF THE MOON ROOF. *SC *JB
2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE [4000 MI] BRAKES FAILED AND THROTTLE STUCK ON DEC 17, 2004. I HAD TO PULL HAND BRAKE TO STOP . CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP IN AMHERST VA. THROTTLE ASSY, IDLE CONTROL VALVE AND A 100MI ROAD TEST WERE DONE. PICKED VEHICLE UP ON JAN 14,2005. ON JAN 15TH, PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN WITH BRAKES NON-RESPONSIVE AND THROTTLE STUCK. SOMEONE ELSE WAS DRIVING AND THEY TURNED ENGINE OFF AND COASTED OFF THE ROAD. VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP IN AMHERST AND REMAINS THERE AT PRESENT.
FUEL TANK DESIGN PROBLEM ON A 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE.*MR THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A FUEL TANK FILLER PROBLEM THEY CANNOT RECTIFY AND CLAIM THAT IT IS A MAZDA DESIGN ERROR. WHEN FILLING THE TANK GAS SPEWS OUT SHUTTING OF THE PUMP. THE CONSUMER WAS THEN REQUIRED TO MANUALLY OVERRIDING THE PUMP BY CONTINUALLY CLICKING THE PUMP ON AND OFF RAPIDLY. *BF *NM

I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE THAT EVERY TIME YOU ATTEMPT TO FILL THE GAS TANK IT SPEWS OUT RAW FUEL OUT AND POLLUTE'S THE ATMOSPHERE AND CREATES A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. THE DEALER CLAIM'S THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM AND CAN NOT BE CORRECTED. WHAT CAN EPA DO TO PUT A HALT TO THIS TYPE OF POLLUTION.
