2006 MAZADA TRIBUTE- Consumer sent a request to Mazda North America to request estimate for cost of repair for replacement of the sensor and switches on the doors and service to the "door ajar" alarm system. Mazda customer care stated they wouldn't be able to provide assistance in the issue. The vehicle is out of warranty and there is no open recalls or special service programs. Consumer resubmitted request to Mazda. Consumer states: "This is the responsibility of the manufacturer! This feature·, (Door Ajar) notification is a major preventative safety item that should have an interrupt feature within. It does not! The defect of malfunction, ringing of the chime, is a conscience detraction element that cannot be tolerated continuously!" The consumer stated the cost of repairs will cost $4590 and feels this is the responsibility of the manufacturer.
WE PURCHASED A USED 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE WITH ABOUT 83,000 MILES ON IT FROM A CAR DEALER. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT, THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND THE ENGINE FAILED. THE ENGINE FAILED AFTER THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WE ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT.
THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL WELL AREA WHERE THE SHOCK ABSORBER ATTACHES TO THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE BUSTED OUT. IT NO LONGER HOLDS THE SHOCK IN PLACE TO ABSORB A BUMP. I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED BY A BODYSHOP PERSON THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF. WOULD YOU LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHEN THE CONTACT'S SON EXITED THE VEHICLE AND SHUT THE DOOR, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS, ALONG WITH THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER WERE BOTH INJURED, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE DRIVING 85 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. ALSO, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, IT ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE. THE CONTACT CALLED KINSEL FORD (LOCATED AT 3355 EASTEX FWY, BEAUMONT, TX 77706, (409) 899-4000) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V357000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE DEALER STATED THAT IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL, THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
GAS PEDAL STICKS MAKING IT HARD TO ACCELERATE. DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND GAS PEDAL WILL NOT MOVE. WHETHER IT IS SUMMER OR WINTER TRYING TO ACCELERATE IS BECOMING VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING.
HELLO - OUR 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE RECENTLY HAD ISSUES RELATED TO SPIDER WEBS IN THE VENT HOSE - IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOTES, THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WERE NOTED RELATED TO THE FUEL TANK: CANISTER VENT FILTER AND HOSE: END OF VENT HOSE AT TOP OF FILLER KNECK PLUGGED WITH SPIDER WEBS THIS RESEMBLES ISSUES THAT PROMPTED THE RECALL OF LATER MODELS, HOWEVER IN CONTACTING MAZDA, NOBODY HAS RESPONDED TO MY CONCERN, BASICALLY STATING THAT THIS RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO THIS YEAR - I DO UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT SINCE THE ISSUE IS IDENTICAL, I WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD AT LEAST WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT AND HAVE A REPORTING SYSTEM FOR IT? BEFORE TAKING THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC, IT WOULD ONLY ACCEPT 10 DOLLARS OF GAS AT A TIME, WHICH SHOWS PRESSURE BUILD UP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WALKED TO SULLIVAN FORD LINCOLN INC (759 MAGEE DR, BROOKHAVEN, MS 39601, (601) 833-7521), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO BILL HOOD MAZDA (333 N MORRISON BLVD, HAMMOND, LA 70401, (866) 726-1249) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 250,000.
THIS INVOLVES MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR THAT CAN NO LONGER BE OPENED BY MY REMOTE..IT ALL STARTED AFTER GETTING A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED..ALL THE OTHER DOORS ON MY SUV OPEN AND LOCK WITH THE REMOTE. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT I HAVE TO USE MY CAR KEY TO OPEN. THERE MUST BE SOME DEFECT. I'VE READ THAT OTHERS WHO HAVE MAZDA TRIBUTES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER A NEW BATTERY IS INSTALLED.
LAST NIGHT 01/11/2018, I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THIS MORNING MY GAS PEDAL WAS STICKING, AND IT WAS HARD TO DRIVE/GO. ONCE I REACHED THE MAIN STREET, IT WAS HARD TO ACCELERATE. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT WON'T GO OFF.
DRVING ON THE HIGWAY AND THE CAR TURN OFF LOST POWER ,LOST STEEING, I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEICLE .PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGWAY, WAITED FOR A WHILE , STARTED AGAIN BUT THE SPEED WAS DO MILES , ENGINE BIBRATING,MECHANIC SAYS THAT NEED TO REPLACE THE PCM AND 6 IDG COILS
MY GAS PEDAL IS STICKING INTERMITTENTLY. ACCORDING TO MY INTERNET SEARCH, THE V6'S FOR THIS MODEL WAS RECALLED, BUT NOT THE 4 CYLINDER VERSION I HAVE. I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I JUST WANT IT TO GET FIXED AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. EITHER IT IS GOING TO GET STUCK IN THE FULL SPEED MODE OR NOT LET ME CHANGE OUT OF A 2 MILES AND HOUR MODE.
EXPERIENCING SAME ISSUES WITH THE FRONT SUBFRAME/ENGINE CRADLE AS INDICATED IN THE 2001-2004 MAZDA TRIBUTE/FORD ESCAPE RECALL. THIS IS A 2006, WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE OF THE SUBFRAME RUSTING OUT AND BREAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE! THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED 2005 AND 2006 VEHICLES AS WELL! I'M LOOKING AT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE A SUBFRAME PUT IN AND THE REST OF MY VEHICLE IS RUST FREE, SO YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY TELL I TAKE GOOD CARE TO WASH THE UNDERNEATH OF THE VEHICLE!
DRIVERS SIDE REAR SHOCK BROKE COMPLETELY AWAY FROM FRAME. (TOP SIDE). PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL IS RUSTING AWAY BADLY.
HEAR A LOUD BANGING SOUND FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL ON MY MAZDA TRIBUTE WHEN DRIVING APPROX 30 MILES AN HOUR ON SMOOTH ROAD. TOOK IT TO GET THE SHOCK CHECKED AND WAS SHOWN BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE REAR WHEEL WELL WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND THE SHOCK WAS HANGING
THROTTLE STICKS AT IDLE UNTIL ENGINE WARMS UP
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON EVEN THOUGH ALL DOORS ARE FIRMLY CLOSED. WARNING ALARM (DING) COMES ON RANDOMLY ALONG WITH INTERIOR DOME LIGHT AND WON'T SHUT OFF. ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED BUT LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AND CONSTANTLY DRAINING THE BATTERY. ALSO JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE SMART JUNCTION BOX BECAUSE THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON NO LONGER WORKED ON ANY OF THE DOORS OR KEY FOB SO I COULD NO LONGER OPEN THE BACK HATCH.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,500.

MINUTES BEFORE THE SUBJECT HEAD-ON COLLISION, THE HAWAII ISLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A CALL FROM A DRIVER COMPLAINING THAT THE TRIBUTE WAS DRIVING IRREGULARLY. THE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT DIVISION OF THE HAWAII ISLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING THE ACCIDENT. OFFICER [XXX] IS THE INVESTIGATING OFFICER. "TAKATA RECALL" I HAD AN AIRBAG FAILURE AFTER HITTING A DEER AT 65 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HWY. THE CHARGE IN THE AIRBAG WENT OFF BUT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON. I NEED THIS FIXED!

A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL WELL AND THE SHOCK MOUNT WERE EXTREMELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN THE MORNING, THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN DRIVE. EVEN AFTER DRIVING, WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. OCCASIONALLY, THE PEDAL WOULD RESPOND NORMALLY WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,000.
I HEARD A BANGING SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE WHEEL WELL HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY AND THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS BANGING AROUND, I COULD ACTUALLY SEE THE BED LINING OF THE VEHICLE SCARY WHEN YOUR DRIVING AROUND A 3 YEAR OLD! I BROUGHT TO A FRAME SHOP AND WAS QUOTED $2500 FOR REPAIR AND BASICALLY TOLD TO SCRAP THE VEHICLE (VERY DISCONCERTING WHEN THERE ARE ONLY 140,000 MILES ON IT),. AFTER RESEARCHING IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE AND I AM HOPING THAT IT IS ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. I DID END UP FINDING AN AUTO BODY REPAIR SHOP TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS FOR $800 WHO TOLD ME HE IS SEEING MANY DRIVERS WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. AFTER TAKING THE BACK END OFF HE SAID THAT THE OTHER SIDE IS ABOUT TO GO AS WELL. I AM NOW STUCK IN AN ETHICAL DILEMMA DO I SELL TO ANOTHER PARTY TO GET MY MONEY BACK ON A DOWN PAYMENT FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE OR DO I JUNK THIS VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE AND TAKE THE LOSS SO THAT THIS DOESN'T BECOME SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I HIT A BUMP. AFTER THIS BUMP THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR WHEN I RAN OVER ANY OTHER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. UPON INSPECTING THE SOUND I DISCOVERED THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR SUSPENSION HAD RUSTED COMPLETELY AWAY FROM THE INNER WHEELHOUSE WHERE THE SUSPENSION WAS WIELDED TO.
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AS I WAS LEAVING OUR DRIVEWAY ONTO THE STREET. NO WARNING AT ALL OF ANY PROBLEM - CAR HAD JUST BEEN INSPECTED BY TWO AUTO SHOPS LAST WEEK AND NO STEERING PROBLEMS NOTED. STEERING WAS STILL POSSIBLE BUT VERY,VERY HARD TO TURN WHEEL - TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO TRY TO TURN. IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IT NOW. CAR HAS 127,500 MILES.
MY MAZDA TRIBUTE V 6, 3.0 ALL OF A SUDDEN STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY SON'S HOUSE, THAN TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP. IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I WAS TOLD WHAT HAD OCCURRED. MY COILS HAD BLOWN OUT AND DAMAGED MY (PCM)COMPUTER. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $2689. I COULD NOT AFFORD THE DEALERSHIP'S COST SO I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE HE REPLACED THE COILS. I WENT ON EBAY AND FOUND A REASONABLY PRICED PCM WHERE IT WAS PROGRAMMED KEYS INCLUDED. MY RESEARCH HAS LED ME INTO WRITING THIS LETTER. I FOUND THAT FORD MOTORS AND THEIR AFFILIATES HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE COILS BLOWING OUT THE PCM FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND HAVE NEVER TOLD THE OWNERS OF THEIR VEHICLES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IF I HAD KNOWN I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INDEPENDENTLY DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. BECAUSE OF THE REAR END MAKING LOUD NOISE AND VIBRATION UPON CONTACTING ROAD BUMPS AND HOLES VEHICLE TAKEN TO REPAIR SHOP WHERE INSPECTION REVEALED SIGNIFICANT DETERIORATION OF THE METAL FORMING THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL, OXIDATION (RUST) TO THE EXTENT OF LARGE HOLE EXPOSING INTERIOR DEPARTMENT. REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR SHOCKS DID NOT CORRECT THE VIBRATIONS FROM ROAD IRREGULARITIES. MECHANIC DESCRIBED THE CAUSE AS A RESULT OF THE WHEEL WELL LOSS OF METAL & CHANGE IN SHAPE ENABLING METAL TO METAL CONTACT. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY DURATION IS OF MUCH CONCERN. *TR
TODAY 12-15-14 I WENT TO PICK UP MY SON AT SCHOOL IT IS COLD OUTSIDE SO I LEFT MY CAR RUNNING WITH THE HEATER ON WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR THE CAR LOCKED ON ITS OWN AND I COULD NOT GET BACK IN. IF SOMEONE HAD A BABY IN THE CAR AND GOT OUT AND IT LOCKED YOU COULD NOT GET IN THAT IS NOT SAFE. IT TOOK ME OVER 1 HOUR TO GET IN MY CAR I HAD GROCERIES IN THERE. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE IN TIME TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR. IT FELT TO ME THAT I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS RACING. I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARD BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. THE TRAFFIC LIGHT HAD JUST CHANGED AND I WAS ACCELERATING TO GO THROUGH THE LIGHT. THAT IS WHEN THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF MY CONTROL. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I TRIED TO DRIVE MY CAR AWAY FROM THE SCENE BUT THE ENGINE WAS RACING AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. THERE IS HEAVY RUST AND THIS IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION TO TRY THE CAR". OVER THE WEEKEND, THE SHOCK MOUNT BRACKET COMPLETELY FELL OFF. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS AGO AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN AROUND TOWN EXCEPT TO MY HONEYMOON. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A FRIENDS HOUSE. I DID THIS FOR THE 10 MILES AND APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS WE ARRIVED AT MY PARENTS HOUSE WHICH WAS THE CLOSEST LOCATION. AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT, IT DID THE SAME THING. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE HOME IT WOULD ONLY REV THE ENGINE AND YOU COULD CHANGE GEARS WITHOUT ANYTHING HAPPENING TO THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE MECHANICS, $3600 LATE, THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MAZDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION VENDORS FROM WHICH MY NEW ONE WAS BOUGHT TOLD THE MECHANIC, THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BECOMING TO HOT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO COOL DOWN FAST ENOUGH. WELDING IS NOT EVEN AN OPTION TO REPAIR THIS DAMAGE. THERE IS NO OTHER RUST OR BODY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THERE WAS A PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE INNER WHEEL WELL TO PREVENT THIS. THE DRIVER SIDE IS FINE AND IS SHOWING NO SIGN OF RUST/ROT. WHILE SEARCHING THE WEB FOR SUPPORT I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE FORD ESCAPE AND MAZDA TRIBUTE (VIRTUALLY ONE IN THE SAME). NOTICE MAZDA ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT ONLY FOR 2000 - 2003 YEARS I BELIEVE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I NOTICE A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE HAVING TO GET THEIR TRANSMISSION OVERHAULED. KNEW I SHOULD OF STUCK WITH A FORD BECAUSE NO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLES. ALL FORDS HAVE OVER 160000 MILES ON THEM. PLUS ONE A 2003 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY HAS OVER 218,000 MILES ON IT.
