TAKATA RECALL I HAVE RECEIVED MULTIPLE NOTICES SINCE 2016 FROM MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP IN SANTA ROSA, CA REGARDING THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL (NHTSA RECALL # 16V081, #16V363) FOR BOTH DRIVER-SIDE AND PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG MODULES UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN #2018120017. I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED SINCE DECEMBER OF 2018 THAT THE PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN, INCLUDING EMAILS FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT THE REPAIR IS "EXTREMELY URGENT" AND THAT FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR MAY RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH TO DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGERS. HOWEVER, I HAVE SCHEDULED THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT MULTIPLE TIMES, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE ACTUALLY NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO GIVE ME ANY ESTIMATE OF WHEN THE PARTS FOR THIS RECALL WILL ACTUALLY BE AVAILABLE. TAIL LIGHT WIRING FOR 2010 MERCEDES C300 WAS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL ISSUED IN 2014. TAIL LIGHT WIRING IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING BURNING/MELTING DUE TO INSUFFICIENT GROUND WIRE CAPACITY (ISSUE OF ORIGINAL RECALL). MERCEDES DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE PARTS UNDER RECALL PROCEDURES AND IS REQUIRING PAYMENT FOR REPLACEMENT. TAIL LIGHTS CURRENTLY INTERMITTENTLY WORK BUT EXPERIENCE TOTAL FAILURE OF ALL TAIL LIGHTS (INCLUDING BRAKE, TURN INDICATOR, ETC) WHEN NOT WORKING.
FUEL LEAKING INTO MAIN CABIN. POOL OF FUEL RESTING ON TOP OF THE FUEL SENDING UNIT LOCATED UNDER PASSENGER REAR SEAT. DRAINING INTO BACK OF SEAT AREA. PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE UPON NEW FILLING OF TANK OR DRIVING ON CURVY ROADS.
THE GROUND WIRE FOR THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS IS HEATING UP. MERCEDES DEALER FIXED THIS, PER NHTSA RECALL #14V-177 BUT THE ISSUE IS REOCCURRING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE SUN ROOF. THE SUN ROOF CEASED IN THE OPEN POSITION WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE SUN ROOF ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,641.*PM*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE STEERING ABILITY BECAME DIFFICULT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,650.
TAKATA RECALL. STILL DRIVING AROUND WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS WITH NO PENDING REMEDY AFTER MANY YEARS.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN GARAGE. "REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION" IS MESSAGE ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. CAR WILL NOT START. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 64K MILES. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE. NOW I HAVE TO PAY A TOW COMPANY TO SOMEHOW GET IT OUT OF GARAGE, AS IT IS FRONT END IN ORIENTED (PULLED IN INSTEAD OF BACKED IN), AND TOW TO DEALERSHIP, AND PREPARE FOR AN OVERLY INFLATED REPAIR COST.
LOCAL MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO SUPPLY NEEDED PARTS FOR THE RECALL. RECEIVED LETTER STATING PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND TO CALL DEALER TO SET UP SERVICE. CALLED AND ARRANGED SERVICE AT MAILTLAND FLORIDA DEALERSHIP. DEALER CALL ME NEXT DAY AND INFORMS THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE YET. CONTACTED THIS WEEK BY SAME DEALER AND TOLD THAT PARTS WERE NOW IN. SCHEDULED SERVICE FOR TODAY. LEFT CAR AT 11:00AM THIS MORNING, WAS CALLED AT 3 PM AND TOLD PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THESE AIRBAGS ARE GOING TO BE REPLACED OR SHOULD I GET RID (XXXX) PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INSPECTION STATION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED AND COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION IF THE VEHICLE WERE DRIVEN OVER A POTHOLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

I RECEIVED A LETTER THAT MY VEHICLE HAD A RECALL DUE TO DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS AIRBAGS I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP LOCATE AT ORLANDO FL IN MILINIA MALL AFTER THEY HAD MY CAR FOR ONE WEEK, THEN THEY CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVE.I HAVE BEEN WAITING 5MONTHS NOW.
SMELLING GAS FUMES INSIDE THE CAR, HAS GOTTEN LIGHT HEADED WHEN DRIVING, AND MY GAS GAGE DOES NOT WORK.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
MY RIGHT TAIL LIGHT KEEPS DIMMING AND GOING BACK BRIGHT. I THOUGHT I NEEDED A BULB BUT BUT IT GAVE ME A MESSAGE TODAY FOR EVERYTHING ON THE RIGHT SIDE BUT THEN THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY. LAST NIGHT SOMEONE TOLD ME THE RIGHT LIGHT WAS DIM THEN IT GOT BRIGHTER. I'VE BEEN SMELLING A FAINT BURNING SMELL BUT TODAY IT WAS KIND OF LOUD. I CHECKED AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE PLASTIC AND WIRE IS MELTING ON RTE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 C300, 99,000 MILES AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN I EXPERIENCED A NEARLY FATAL COLLISION. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, I EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE REAR CROSS-MEMBER SUBFRAME WHICH CAUSED THE REAR LEFT WHEEL TO DEVIATE IN A SUCH A WAY THAT CAUSED THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL. I HAD TO FIGHT TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND AVOID A HEAD-ON COLLISION. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY MECHANIC WHO POINTED TO A BREAK IN THE SUB-FRAME WHERE THE REAR-LEFT TIRE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS ATTACHED TO THE REST OF THE CAR. THE BREAK APPEARS TO HAVE MANIFESTED WHERE THE SHEET METAL COMPONENTS WERE WELDED TO FORM A BRACKET IN THE SUBFRAME. I LIVE IN A STATE WHERE ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTIONS ARE CARRIED OUT AND THE VEHICLE HAS PASSED SUCH INSPECTIONS WITH NO PAST INDICATORS OF RUST. THE SAFETY INSPECTION FOCUSES ON THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF COMPONENTS SUCH AS SUSPENSION AND FRAME. THE MOST RECENT STATE SAFETY INSPECTION WAS CARRIED OUT ON SEPTEMBER 2018, AT 97,000. FURTHERMORE, AT 90,663 MILES, MERCEDES-BENZ DEALER CONDUCTED A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY ISSUES WITH THE SUBFRAME, SUSPENSION, OR ANY OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE. NEAR-FATAL, CATASTROPHIC FAILURES SHOULD NOT TAKE PLACE ON A MODERN LUXURY CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD, UNLESS THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. HOWEVER, MERCEDES-BENZ USA REFUSED TO CONSIDER A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND MADE THE DETERMINATION WITHOUT REVIEWING PHOTOS OF THE STRUCTURAL BRAKE. NOTE THAT BASED ON MY RESEARCH, NHTSA ID NUMBERS 10504684 AND 11023618 SPEAK TO SIMILAR RUST ISSUES TO THE SUB-FRAME. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND LAUNCH THE RECALL CAMPAIGN.
ESL MODULE FAILURE(BRUSHES OF THE SUBSTANDARD ELECTRICAL MOTOR GO BAD) LEAVES THE CAR INOPERABLE. ALMOST ALL C300 AND SIMILAR MODELS WILL EXPERIENCE THIS FAILURE BEFORE THEY REACH 80,000 MILES. THE MODULE IS BURIED DEEPLY INTO THE CAR YET IT WOULD FAIL WITH CERTAINTY. THE MASS FAILURE OF THE MODULE WOULD SUGGEST THAT THERE WOULD BE A RECALL, NEVERTHELESS MERCEDES-BENZ(MB) IS PRETENDING THE PROBLEM DOESN'T EXIST AND OWNERS ARE OFTEN LEFT STRANDED ON PARKING LOTS WITH AN USELESS CAR AND STUCK WITH A BILL OF $2000 FOR SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY A MB DESIGN AND ENGINEERING FAULT.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO TWO OTHER VEHICLES. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK, BACK, AND CHEST INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A SECOND PERSON WAS INJURED FROM THE SECOND VEHICLE. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. REAR TAIL LAMP ELECTRIC HARNESS MELTED. SPECIFICALLY THE BROWN WIRE. THIS ALSO MELTED THE TERMINAL LEADING TO A FIRE HAZARD AND THE LIGHTS NOT WORKING. THIS IS AFTER THE LIGHTS WERE "FIXED" FOR THE RECALL.

MY CAR MADE A ELECTRIC SHORTAGE AND THE CAR WON'T TURN ON SO I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THE CAR HAD TO BE PROGRAMMED AGAIN SO IT COULD TURN ON .
ON TWO OCCASIONS, WITH THE LATEST BEING ON 12/11/2018, THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL LOCKED COMPLETELY AFTER I PARKED IT. EVEN THOUGH IT'S BEEN SUBJECT TO A RECALL (2010100002), MERCEDES BENZ CHARGED ME $1255 JUST TO UNLOCK IT WITHOUT REPAIRING THE UNDERLYING CAUSE. I WANT MY MONEY BACK BECAUSE THE PROBLEM THEY REPAIRED IS PART OF THE RECALL.

FUEL TANK LEAK- SMELL GAS IN CAR AND OUTSIDE CAR. RECEIVED NOTICE OF AIRBAG RECALLS AND LIGHT ISSUE AS WELL. MAIN CONCERN IS GAS SMELL EMANATING FROM MY CAR. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN I FILL THE TANK.
THE STEERING LOCK FAILED. STOPPED AT THE POST OFFICE AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE CAR. THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD WORK BUT THE IGNITION WOULD NOT READ MY FOB. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.
JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TWO WEEKS AGO, WAS AT A CAR WASH CLEANING THE VEHICLE 4 DAYS AGO, TWO HOURS LATER READY TO LEAVE AND WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START, ONLY ABLE TO LOCK/UNLOCK VEHICLE WITH FAB AND RADIO AND DASH LIGHT STILL WORKED BUT CAR WAS JUST DEAD. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TWICE BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP IS GATED AND NO WHERE TO LEAVE IT ON A SUNDAY THAT WAS SAFE SO TOWED IT ON MONDAY MORNING TO PARK CITY OF DALLAS (MERCEDES) AND THEY ARE WORKING ON THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE BEEN INFORMED IT IS THE STEERING PROBLEM THAT IS COMMON APPARENTLY WITH THIS MODEL. I HAVE READ SO MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT ISSUE. SO WHY ARE WE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR WHEN ITS OBVIOUS THAT MERCEDES BENZ MESSED UP THEY NEED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AT THEIR COST NOT OURS. VERY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING. I DROVE MY BMW FOR 22 YEARS AND IT NEVER LEFT ME STRANDED. TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY BURNING UP AGAIN. MY 2010 MB C300 4MATIC SPORT HAD A RECALL TO REPLACE BOTH TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND MB DEALER WANTS $159 JUST FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. LIGHT BULBS LOOKED FINE BUT I REPLACED ALL BULBS ANYWAY (FROM AUTOZONE PARTS), WORKED FOR A FEW HOURS, THEN WARNING MESSAGES SHOWED UP AGAIN. REPLACED ALL BULBS AGAIN. SAME THING. THEN ONE DAY, MESSAGES STOPPED AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING AGAIN. THEN A FEW DAYS LATER, IT STARTED AGAIN. WENT TO A MB DEALER (AT CHANTILLY, VA) ON 10/2/18 WHO WANTED $159 JUST FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I INSTEAD PURCHASED A NEW TAIL LIGHT PANEL (LAMP CARRIER P/N 204-820-15-00-05) AT $20 BEFORE TAX TO REPLACE ON MY OWN. CAME HOME OPENED UP THE PANEL AND FOUND A BURNED WIRE. IT EVEN MELTED THE BLACK PLASTIC HOUSING OF WIRE HARDNESS AND A BLACK BURNED MARK ON THE PANEL (CARRIER). PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS. THIS CAN CAUSE A CAR FIRE. ALSO VERY UNSAFE DRIVING BECAUSE TUNE AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. SHOULDN'T MB FIX THIS AGAIN AT NO CHARGE? PLEASE RECALL AGAIN.

A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE STEERING WHEEL GOT LOCKED WHILE PARKING THE CAR AND THE CAR NEVER STARTS AGAIN.
A BROCKEN REAR SPRING WAS DISCOVERED WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING SURVICED BY AN INDEPENDENT SHOP HERE IN NORTHERN WISCONSIN. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACING SPRINGS ON MBS SUCH AS MINE IN AREAS SUCH AS HERE WHERE SALT IS USED ON WINTER ROADS IS NOT UNCOMMON.
MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING SUPERIOR, NO WARNING SIGNALS OR STRAINING WHEN POWERING ON. PARKED CAR THEN AN HOUR LATER TRIED TURNING VEHICLE ON AND WILL NOT TURN ON FOR ANY REASON JUST RADIO WORKED. FOUND OUT IT WAS STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR A HEFTY $1100. HAD THE CAR FOR ONLY 3 MONTHS AND BARELY USED IT. I BELIEVE IT'S A RECALL ON THESE ISSUES.
