TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCEDES-BENZ C300. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,905.
MY 2010 MERCEDES C300 HAS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK FAIL-WHICH LEFT ME STRANDED SITTING IN THE PARK LOT ABOUT 30 MINUTES FROM HOME. CAR WOULD NOT START I TRIED TO START MY CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENS. WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO ON NOTHING LIGHTS UP, NO CRANK, NO CLICKS, NO WINDOWS AND NO RADIO. I WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK WITH THE REMOTE BUT THAT WAS ABOUT IT. I TRIED JUMPING AND I TRIED BOTH KEYS STILL NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN I TURNED THE KEY. STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND GEAR STUCK IN PARK. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE MB DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE STEERING LOCK AND KEY REPLACED AND ENDING COSTING $1,124.00. I HAVE READ THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A WHOLE OF MB'S AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. I MEAN REALLY WE PAY TO HAVE A QUALITY CAR AND SO FAR MY MB HAS HAD A STINKY AC THAT MB COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT HOW FIX, TAILLIGHT RECALL, FOUND OIL LEAKING FROM OIL CENTERFUGE COVER THAT COST $199.62 BUT YET IT STILL LEAKS OIL., CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL FROM APRIL 2016 AND TODAY IS DEC. 2016. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN MERCEDES AND WILL NOT BE PURCHASE AGAIN NOR WILL I RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. EVEN THE SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP HAS GONE DOWN. QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT WHAT IT USE TO BE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AS THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED OVER A YEAR AGO. THE DEALER: MERCEDES-BENZ OF CALDWELL 1230 BLOOMFIELD AVE, FAIRFIELD, NJ 07004, PHONE NUMBER: (973) 227-3600 WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RECENTLY RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM TK HOLDINGS ALERTING THAT THEY HAD FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE ASKED THE PARK PLACE MOTORCARS MERCEDES-BENZ DALLAS LOCATION, ON TWO OCCASIONS, ABOUT THE RECALL NOTICES I RECEIVED. I WAS TOLD THAT I DID NOT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE RECALL UNLESS I ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH THE BAGS. THE ISSUE IS THAT I WON'T KNOW IF I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE BAGS UNTIL I HAVE AN ACCIDENT, AND I AM EITHER INJURED OR KILLED BY THESE AIRBAGS.
CAME HOME PARKED THE CAR AND AFTER 5 MINS. HAD TO GO SOMEWHERE TRY TO START THE CAR , NO POWER AT ALL , IGNITION WONT START . RADIO WORKS , LIGHTS WORK REMOTE KEY WORKS OPENS AND LOCKS THE DOORS . BUT WILL NOT START . AND STEERING IS LOCKED ALSO , I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY RECALL .
OVER THE OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THESE INCLUDE MORE THAN I HAVE TIME OR SPACE TO LIST THEM, BUT THE LATEST IS NOW THE COMAND BUTTONS ON THE DASH BOARD WHICH NO LONGER FUNCTION. I WAS TOLD ICAN HAVE THIS FIXED FOR THE LOW PRICE OF $2,000 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (DICK DYER MERCEDES-BENZ AND VOLVO, 5825 TWO NOTCH RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29223, (803) 786-8888) DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN OVER INTERMITTENTLY AND PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH DID NOT PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION OR IF THE OEM PART WOULD FAIL AGAIN, IF REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONCERNS WITH THE TWO AIR BAG RECALLS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURENCE. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. IF THERE HAD BEEN SMOKE OR FIRE IN THE CABIN RELATED TO AN ATTEMPT TO QUICKLY EXIT THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR HANDLE BRAKES, IT COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC EVENT LEADING TO POSSIBLE DEATH. IT IS MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
CAR WAS OPERATING FINE WHEN I GOT HOME AROUND NOON PARKED ON THE STREET OUTSIDE MY HOUSE, AT 2PM I WAS TRYING TO LEAVE. WHILE STARTING THE CAR THE WARNING SHOWED UP ON MY DASH STATING "REMOVE KEY FROM THE IGNITION". CALLED AAA TO ENSURE THAT THE BATTERY WAS OK. AAA SHOWED UP AND INSPECTED THE CAR. BATTERY WAS UP TO STANDARDS. MECHANIC SAID TO USE A SPARE KEY TO TEST OUT THE ISSUE. GRABBED A SPARE KEY AND THE SAME WARNING SHOWED UP ON THE DASH. MECHANIC SAID THAT I NEED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND GET MY EIS SYSTEM REPLACED AND A STEERING COLUMN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. HERE YOU GO, FINAL BILL $1,600 OUT THE DOOR. MAKE THIS A RECALL ITEM IF EVERYONE IS HAVING THIS ISSUE.

MY CAR JUST LEFT ME STRANDED (AT HOME OF ALL PLACES). I HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES THAT DAY WITH THE WHINING NOISE MANY HAVE DEALT WITH. I GOT HOME FROM WORK, AND WENT TO TAKE THE CAR OUT LATER WITH MY HUSBAND, AND SHE'S DEAD. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TOWED HER TO THE DEALERSHIP. SO FAR, $1450 JUST TO REPLACE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK, THEN THEY CAN START TO INVESTIGATE THE WHINING SOUND. SERVICE ADVISOR SAYS THE 2 AREN'T CONNECTED AND ITS A COINCIDENCE BOTH THE WHINING AND STEERING LOCK FAILURE ARE HAPPENING SIMULTANEOUSLY???? PLEASE FORCE A RECALL, SO WE CAN RECOUP THIS MONEY. MB IS MAKING A TON OFF OF THE PROBLEM. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN STRANDED IN TRAFFIC, OR WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR? THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY ISSUE, AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY MBUSA.
TOOK CAR FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AT LOCAL MB DEALERSHIP ON 9/3/16 AND WAS TOLD BOTH FRONT PARKING LAMPS/LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING, FURTHER INFORMED THAT IT IS NOT SIMPLE LIGHT BULB BLOW OUT BUT SOMETHING HAS CAUSED THE WHOLE MOLDING/CASING HOLDING THE LIGHT HAS MELTED AND THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE ADVISER STATED THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM BEFORE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. I AM NOT A TECHNICAL PERSON AND CAN FORWARD EMAIL AND THE DETAILS OF ISSUE AS PROVIDED BY DEALERSHIP. I CONSIDER THIS SERIOUS SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD AND WANTED TO KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO YOU BEFORE BY CONSUMERS OR BY THE MANUFACTURER MERCEDES BENZ. MILEAGE ON FORM IS APPROXIMATE
TAKATA RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY MERCEDES BENZ REPORTEDLY DUE TO A LACK OF PARTS. THE RECALL IS ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD AND NUMEROUS NOTICES TO ME INDICATE THAT PARTS TO ADDRESS THE RECALL ARE UNAVAILABLE. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE TAKATA BANKRUPTCY WILL LEAVE MY RECALL UNADDRESSED. I HAVE HAD AN AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT COME ON THAT MERCEDES BENZ SAYS IS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN IF THAT STATEMENT IS ACCURATE. I LIMIT THE USE OF THIS CAR SINCE I AM NOT CERTAIN THAT IT'S SAFE FOR ME AND MY PASSENGERS.
TAKATA RECALL MY CAR HAS BEEN UNDER RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW. I LIVE IN TEXAS WHICH IS IN ZONE A OF THE RECALL AND ACCORDING TO A DIAGRAM THAT MERCEDES SENT US WITH THE RECALL LETTER, THE TIME THE INFLATOR IS EXPECTED TO RUPTURE IS IN 6-9 YEARS. THIS CAR IS CURRENTLY 8 YEARS OLD WHICH WOULD PUT IT AT EXTREME RISK AND MERCEDES STILL DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS. THEY ALSO REFUSE TO OFFER A LOANER CAR. THEY RECENTLY STATED THAT A REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN LAST JUNE OF 2018 HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOW DELAYED THAT AGAIN TO DECEMBER 2018.

"TAKATA RECALL" I FEEL THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE RESOLVED BY NOW. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE IF I HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND GOD FORBID THERE IS AN ACCIDENT THEN I WOULD BE IN DANGER DUE TO SOMETHING THAT WAS DESIGNED TO MAKE TRAVEL SAFER. THE IS UNACCEPTABLE AND I PURCHASED MERCEDES FOR SAFETY AND RELIABILITY. MY FAMILY HAS PURCHASED MERCEDES FOR YEARS DUE TO THE QUALITY IT MEANT TO OWN A MERCEDES AND QUICK ISSUE RESOLUTION. IF I WAS GOING TO RUN INTO A AIRBAG ISSUE THAT WOULD TAKE THIS LONG TO BE RESOLVED I COULD HAVE PURCHASED A HYUNDAI.

VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY DUE TO A LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING. VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. MINUTES LATER, ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO TURN VEHICLE BACK ON. VEHICLE DID NOT TURN ON (ENGINE DID NOT TURN). VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HOME WHERE SAME PHENOMENON OCCURRED, VEHICLE DID NOT TURN ON ALTHOUGH KEY WAS INSERTED AND IGNITION SWITCH ROTATED, ENGINE WOULD NOT START. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED: FAULTY ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (ESL) AND ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH (EIS), SUM WAS ABOUT $1,600. ALL WEB INFORMATION POINTS TO A COMMON PROBLEM AND MAY POSE SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO AVOID UNSAFE SITUATIONS, SUCH AS PARKED ALONGSIDE A HIGHWAY WHERE CARS SPEED BY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. ISSUE IS KNOWN AND MERCEDES BENZ FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE PREMATURE FAILURE OF IGNITION COMPONENTS.

OUR 2010 MERCEDES C300 WITH 24,500 MILES CAR STARTED TO SELL GASOLINE APPX A WEEK AGO. WE FOUND OUT THAT MERCEDES HAS SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR OTHER CARS AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM SINCE IT INVOLVES GASOLINE. THE MERCEDES DEALER STATED THAT OUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHER RECALLED MODELS. THE SMELL IS CONSTANT AND WE CANNOT EVEN PARK OUR CAR IN OUR GARAGE DUE TO THE FUMES AND STRONG SMELL. MERCEDES OF PALM SPRING LIKE TO CHARGE US $256 JUST TO LOOK AT THE CAR SO WE TOOK OUR CAR TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAS A PROBLEM AS THE OTHER MODELS AND OUR CAR IS THE 3RD MERDECES THAT THEY INSPECTED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WEEK. AT THIS TIME MERCEDES IS REFUSING TO REPAIR THIS ON A WARRANTY AND AS I STATED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
CAR WONT START, REPLACED BATTERY, COMMON ISSUE WITH C300 TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP IT WOULD COST $1332 FOR STEERING LOCK TO START 5.0 INCLUDES IF NEEDED TO CUT OUT LOCK PIN
I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR HAS A RECALL FOR THE CAMSHAFT ADJUSTMENT SOLENOID. I TOOK MY CAR INTO MERCEDES TO BE REPAIRED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL WAS CLOSED AND THEY COULD NOT REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THIS ISSUE CAUSING MORE DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE AND I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE. I ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING.

FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE CAR STALLS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION REQUIRING IMMEDIATE EVACUATION FROM THE CAR OR RISK MAJOR INJURY OR DEATH (E.G, CAR FIRE, STUCK ON A RAILROAD TRACK, ETC.) THE PASSENGER WOULD BE STUCK IN THE CAR. LOWERING THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS DOES NOT OFFER ENOUGH CLEARANCE TO REACH OVER THE DOOR TO OPEN THE OUTSIDE HANDLE FROM THE INSIDE. MERCEDES REQUIRES THE PURCHASE OF AN ENTIRE DOOR PANEL TO REPAIR THE CHEAP PLASTIC HANDLE ON THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR DOOR (SET. $800 FOR THE PANEL PUS LABOR FOR A TOTAL OF $1100). THE DEALERSHIP, AND MERCEDES BENZ, WAS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THE COST TO REPAIR IT, BUT, HASN'T REPORTED IT TO THE AUTHORITIES AS A RISK.
