P052e positive crankcase ventilation

With cold weather most w205 Mercedes, and specifically the one I have which is a C300 2016 starts having a strong Gas smell when I start the car at cold, and with the cold weather, the smell is getting stronger. There is already a class action going on in a different state concerning that issue, and it is probably a major and safety concern issue in those cars as a hose is a leaking fuel whenever the weather is cold. I ried with the dealership and they said no recall or anything for that issue yet.

The system that failed is the rear backup camera. The dash screen becomes black after initiating the car into reverse. The screen also glitches green and other times black. I have also received a “no camera” circle behind my rear backup camera with the 360 degree camera. I cannot use my rear backup camera as designed because of the issue. Even putting the vehicle back in park and then back to reverse does not remove the issue. This has happened on multiple occasions just this week. This started this week in my car. 1/21/2022 was the first time it happened. It has happened every day since and multiple times. I have photos and videos of the issue. The photos are attached to this report of the safety issue. I am unable to upload the video but can send upon request to an email.

My vehicle: (1) smells of gasoline through the vents. The smell of gasoline is SO STRONG that I have had to pull over and get out of the vehicle. My car has 104,000 miles on it. Not a lot of miles for a 2016. There are NO warning lights on indicating a problem with the vehicle. (2) The silver trim/coating that covers the window buttons and around the entire dashboard has bubbled overnight and is flaking off. It constantly cuts fingers and arms. (3) Approximately 5 months ago the headliner in the car started buckling.

Error Code: P052E Crankcase Ventilation Valve Malfunction. Part was changed before and Engine Light still comes on. Vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicle was inspected by Mercedes Dealership several times. Part is on Backorder Nationwide. Car Does not pass emissions inspection, therefore cannot renew registration either for several months.

Mercedes-Benz comes with ECO Start/Stop feature. This feature automatically activates when you start the vehicle and have your seat belt fastened with the door closed. When this function is activated, your vehicle’s engine will shut off when you are at a complete stop, like at a stoplight or in standstill traffic. Once it’s time to start moving again, the vehicle’s engine will automatically restart as soon as you lift your foot off the brake. Randomly experiencing an issue with this feature, vehicle will not restart or it will shutdown in the middle of the road, on the busy road or freeway, it is very unsafe or dangerous. In last two years, we experienced this issue for at least 10 times, at least 5 times vehicle was towed to Mercedes Benz service center in Pleasanton, CA. They replaced the battery, starter, relay but issue still exists and service center also do not have any clue on how to resolve this issue. Reported this issue to Mercedes Benz Customer Support but response has not been favorable. I am not the only one facing this issue, several people reported this issue on online blogs, online channels and discussion boards. Mercedes Benz is ignoring the issue and not serious on addressing it. I request NTSB to investigate this issue, it is risky and dangerous. I personally had couple of close calls with other vehicles rear ending, and I am sure others must have found in this situation. Appreciate your help. 2016 MB 300 C, AWD at 87000 miles started giving gas fuel smell when parked in our garage after driving. I took to a local Foreign Car Repair facility and they found a fuel leak at the fuel injector pump. The mechanic changed the Fuel Injector Pump (Bosch) at a total cost of $745.31. Since the change in the pump, the smell has stopped and I feel safe. Who is responsible to reimburse this cost to me?

Car lost all throtle on the highway, and when pressed on gas pedal nothing would happen. A death trap. it was very dangerous and car behind me almost hit me. Happened many times and the dealer could not fix it. Car just went out of warranty couple months ago

Steering wheel will not adjust up and down, only in and out, Not correct position for driving safely.

The part attaching the sunroof to the rails comes off and could cause the sunroof to come detached.

Panoramic Sunroof deterioration, which caused the sunroof to get stuck due to fragments in the sliding area. Sunroof unstable. Unable to ride with it open and makes a whistling sound when closed.

while driving on a highway a part of my roof panoramic fell risking my life and other people's life, I then sent an email to Mercedes Benz and they told me that this part is a subject of a recall. I took the car for two days and they told me that the part is not available for the moment and they need to order it from Germany with no ETA but at least 2 weeks. I asked them if I can safely drive without that part and they said it is ok. Yesterday while driving under light rain, water went in the car through the roof and through the missing part place onto the dashboard. And suddenly the panoramic roof opened alone and did not want to close while I was driving on the highway under the rain. I had to leave my car with an open roof. This roof issue is a repercussion of that item subject of the recall in addition to telling me that driving was safe without that part and turned out to be unsafe. My car's stationary roof panel (part no. 205-780-00-22) that's located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof started to come off while driving. The panel started to flick off and I had to tape it temporarily, so it doesn't fly off when driving. It looks like the adhesive holding the panel gave out on the driver’s side. Panel was previously replaced at Mercedes Benz of Tysons Corner.

I bought a car that had an light accident and turns out to be missing the collision sensor in addition to bad battery that i had to change and had issues with recoding the airbags which are not working now.

The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available to for the recall repair. Transmission shifted into neutral after coming to a stop. Brake was applied. Similar issue to NHTSA Campaign 21V033000 for 2019 GLA 250.

The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the sunroof suddenly exploded and shattered. The contact stated she was able to pull over to the side of the road, where she inspected the vehicle and did not find the cause of the failure. The contact then drove the vehicle to her destination. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the roof panel needed to be replaced. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and declined to provide any assistance. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V197000 (Structure). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

PLASTIC PANEL BETWEEN WINDSHIELD AND PANORAMIC SUNROOF DETACHES. ADHESIVE DEGRADES OVER TIME CAUSING PANEL TO NOT BOND WITH THE BODY.

The panoramic sunroof does not properly seal to car, allowing the glass to detach and fall from the vehicle during operation and likely to impair the operator during use. Furthermore, without properly sealing the internal cabin is exposed to the environment (i.e. rain, snow, ect.) causing further damage to the internal safety and electrical features.

Steering failed at low speeds. Something broke. Caused me to lose complete steering. Very scary and dangerous

Panoramic sunroof exploded spontaneously while driving. There was no previous warning. Glass shattered onto driver and passenger. The loud sound and glass shattering onto us could have caused self injury or accident to occur. Auto insurance was notified at time of incident. Vehicle was taken to Mercedes benz dealership for repair.

THERE IS A RAW FUEL SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE CAR WHEN DRIVING. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A LAWSUIT AGAINST MERCEDES-BENZ FOR FAULTY FUEL LINES THAT THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR. I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE FUEL LINES AS COUNTLESS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE WHERE THE RUBBER HOSES ARE FAILING PREMATURELY. I HAVE A 2016 C300 WITH ONLY 37,100 MILES ON IT THAT IS KEPT UP ON AND THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT THE FUEL LINES ARE TYPICAL WEAR ITEMS AND THAT THE CPO WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND LEAKING FUEL INTO THE ENVIRONMENT AND FUEL LINES SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED ALREADY.

REAR VIEW CAMERA IS NOT WORKING. FROZEN. I WAS PULLING INTO THE GARAGE. I HAD TO BACK UP SO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THEN SWITCH TO DRIVE FORWARD AND THE CAMERA FROZE.

MY 2016 C300 4MATIC, WHICH HAS BEEN SERVICED EXCEPTIONALLY WELL, TURNED 57,000 MILES (7K MILES OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY), HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON. I WENT TO MY MECHANIC, WHO HAS A STATE OF THE ART DIAGNOSTIC UNIT, AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS CODE P052E WHICH MEANS THAT THE CRANKCASE VENTILATION REGULATOR VALVE INCLUDING THE FUEL RAIL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MERCEDES HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS BEING A MAJOR PROBLEM AS THEY MODIFIED ONE OF THE PARTS. MY DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME OVER $ 2100.00 TO FIX IT AND DEEMED IT NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE GONE ONLINE TO SEVERAL MERCEDES BENZ FORUMS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN WITH THIS PART FAILING AROUND 52K MARK. SINCE MERCEDES KNEW ABOUT THIS - ISSUED AN IMPROVED PART TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ONE - NHTSA SHOULD MANDATE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT SOME SIMPLE DYI MATTER. IT IS A COMPLICATED REPAIR CONSUMING MANY HOURS. IT IS WRONG THAT DRIVING THIS, WITH THIS CODE, COULD LITERALLY KILL YOU. I IMPLORE NHTSA TO MANDATE A RECALL BASED ON THE FACTS SPECIFIED HEREIN. BY THE WAY I HAVE A 1999 ML320 THAT I HAVE METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND DRIVES PERFECT AND I HAVE OWNED MANY OTHER MERCEDES BENZ. 2016 C300 4MATIC AT ABOUT 50K MILES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE SIDE AND TOWED IT TO THE DEALER IN WEST COVINA. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE FREEWAY SINCE IT WAS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. DEALER IS NOW SAYING THE CAR MIGHT NEED ENGINE REPLACEMENT WHICH WILL COST ME $20K BUT THEY WANT $3000 TO DO A TEAR DOWN TO MAKE SURE. OPENED A CASE WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM INCREDIBLY UPSET WITH MERCEDES BENZ - I HAVE NOT USED THE CAR THAT MUCH AND MAINTAINED IT MYSELF ACCORDING TO THEIR MAINTENANCE BOOKLETS. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ENGINE DEFECT PROBLEM THAT MERCEDES NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE THAT, ON FIRST IMPRESSION, LED ME TO BELIEVE SOMEONE FIRED A GUNSHOT AT AND STRUCK MY VEHICLE. UPON LOOKING UP, I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED IT WAS NOT A GUNSHOT BUT INSTEAD THE GLASS TO THE FRONT PORTION OF MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED AND FLEW COMPLETELY OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS FLYING GLASS FLEW DIRECTLY BACKWARDS AND COULD HAVE POSED A DEADLY RESULT FOR THE NUMEROUS DRIVERS TRAVELING BEHIND ME. THERE WERE NO FLYING OBJECTS OR OTHER DANGEROUS INSTRUMENTS THAT STRUCK THE VEHICLE BUT THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY, ON ITS OWN, SHATTERED AND COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON SUBSEQUENT ONLINE INVESTIGATION, I LEARNED THIS VERY ISSUE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED BY OTHER MERCEDES BENZ DRIVERS, WITH THE SUNROOFS SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERING AND FLYING OFF. DESPITE PURCHASING A EXTENSIVE WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, BODY WORK, INCLUSIVE OF GLASS REPLACEMENT, IS NOT COVERED. CONSEQUENTLY, I WAS FORCED TO FILE AN AUTO INSURANCE CLAIM, WHICH REQUIRED AN IMMEDIATE $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO BE PAID TO ENABLE THE REPAIR COMPANY TO ORDER THE REPLACEMENT GLASS. THIS REOCCURRING ISSUE MOST CERTAINLY REQUIRES A RECALL FOR VEHICLES CONTAINING THIS PROBLEMATIC SUNROOF. IT IS NOT ONLY A DANGER TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE, BUT ALSO TO ALL OTHERS TRAVELING ON THE ROAD.

GAS SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS STARTED OFF EVERY NOW AND THEN AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT. PULLED IT IN THE GARAGE AND THE GAS FUMES MADE THE TOTAL GARAGE SMELL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS FUEL LINE, THAT SITS NEAR THE ENGINE. IT IS IN THE SHOP NOW. AFTER GOOGLING I SEE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. GLASS PIECE IN FRONT OF SUNROOF OF PANORAMA ROOF FLEW DETACHED AND FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY ABOUT 80 MILES PER HOUR ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH. IT WAS NOT HIT BY ANYTHING. JUST THE WIND. COST TO REPAIR $2178 AT MB AUTHORIZED DEALER.

FRONT GLASS PANEL ON PANORAMA ROOF DETACHED WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY ON A STRAIGHT SEGMENT AND FLEW OFF. I IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ADHESION THAT IS USED TO SECURE AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF MERCEDES MODELS WITH PANORAMA ROOFS OF VARIOUS YEARS ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT COST OVER $2000 IN DEALER REPAIR AND REPLACEMENTS.

THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SLIDING CLIPS ARE PLASTIC AND BREAK. WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD THE ROOF LIFTED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE IT. THE PLASTIC CLIPS BROKE THAT SECURE THE SLIDE RAIL AND GLASS TOGETHER.

I PURCHASED MY MB C300 USED CERTIFIED AND HAD NOTICED A FUEL SMELL. I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WITH MB AND NOTHING TO BE CONCERNED WITH. ON OCTOBER 15, 2019 AND ON JULY 1, 2020 THE GLASS PANEL WHICH IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF BLEW OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS PIECE OF GLASS DOES NOT MOVE AND BECAME A DANGEROUS PROJECTILE ENDANGERING OTHER VEHICLES. I WOULD GUESS THE GLUE IS NOT BONDING PROPERLY

I WASN'T SPEEDING BUT I DID HIT MY BRAKES BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO MISS MY EXIT AND MY AIR BAG JUST EXPLODED.

HEARD SOMETHING CRACK AND THE FOUND LATER PLASTIC PIECES OF THE SHOE ON THE RIGHT SIDE ON THE SUNROOF IN THE RAIL OF THE SUNROOF. IT WAS THE RAIL GUIDE SHOE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THE ENTIRE ROOF WOULD NEED TO COME UP, INCLUDING HEADLINER. HE ALSO SAID YOU'D NEED TO REPLACE RAILS, WHICH SOUNDS A BIT MUCH FOR A PLASTIC SHOE. I AGREED, IT'S RIDICULOUS THAT THESE ARE MADE OF PLASTIC. 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I BEEN SEEING A LOT PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE HAS A PANORAMIC SUNROOF AND I HAD OPENED THE ROOF WHILE I WAS PARKED AND WHEN I STARTED DRIVING SOMETHING POPPED AND THE FRONT OF THE SUNROOF LIFTED A LITTLE CAUSING IT TO IT THE BACK GLASS PORTION OF THE PANORAMIC ROOF. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT OUT AND SAW THE THE FRONT GUIDES WERE BROKEN/DETATCHED. I HAD TO FIND A WAY TO FORCE THE SUNROOF TO CLOSE. I WAS ONLY GOING AROUND 25 MPH WHEN THE GUIDES GAVE UP. IF I WOULD'VE BEEN GOING FASTER, THE FORCE WOULD HAVE BROKEN THE BACK GLASS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
