I AM AWARE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR EARLIER MODELS ON THE BACK UP CAMERA BUT RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE 2012 E350. PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 2 YEARS OR SO AGO. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM STARTING ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN ONGOING.

WHEN IT RAINS WATER LEAKS TO FRONT WINDSHIELD
SMELLED GAS FUMES AROUND SIDES OF VEHICLE. REPAIR FACILITY FOUND FUEL LEAK AROUND THE FUEL FILTER WITH SUBSEQUENT REPAIR.
THE CAM SOLENOID SENSORS ARE PICKING UP OIL, THEN IT IS BEING DISBURSED IN TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS FLOWING INTO, O2 SENSORS MAKING THE VEHICLE RUN IN A FULL RICH MODE, IT IS REACHING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT RUNS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THIS REPAIR CAN COST UPWARDS OF $8000. I HAVE DONE ONLINE RESEARCH AND IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AMONGST MANY MERCEDES VEHICLES. THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, IT WAS BEING REPAIRED BUT MERCEDES STOPPED THE REPAIR. IT COMES FROM AN INTERNAL ISSUE, NOT A FAIL TO MAINTAIN PROBLEM. I CONTACTED MERCEDES, THEY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW OF THE ISSUE, BUT THEY DID TELL ME, THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A COST OF OVER $ 5000. TO US. ONLINE SEARCHES HAVE RESULTED IN MANY COMPLAINTS BY OWNERS. REGULAR DRIVING IS A RESULT OF THE ISSUE. NOW WE CAN'T DRIVE OUT VEHICLE DUE TO FEAR OF THE OIL IN THE ELECTRICAL LINES REACHING OUR CPU FOR THE ENTIRE CAR, WHICH WILL RESULT SEVERAL THOUSAND MORE DOLLARS ON TOP OF THE REPAIR COST. I AM NOW OFFICIALLY ON MY 3RD SET OF WHEELS, 16 FLAT TIRES, AND NOW HAD TO REPLACE EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT IN THE AIR SUSPENSION ALMOST 8K INTO THE REPAIRS
I HAVE A 2012 MERCEDES BENZ E 350 THAT I PURCHASED IN BUFFALO, NY. MY VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT. MY VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IN MICHIGAN AND A USA VEHICLE. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON AN ASSIGNMENT IN CANADA. ON MARCH 5, 2019, I WENT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM MY HOTEL PARKING LOT IN OTTAWA, CANADA ON A TRIP TO BUFFALO, NY WHEN I HEARD THE VEHICLE MAKING LOUD NOISES TOWARDS THE FRONT END AND THE ABILITY TO STEER WAS LOST. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN AND WAS ESSENTIALLY IMMOBILIZED. I LEFT IT AS IS AND HAD IT TOWED TO STAR MOTORS MERCEDES, 400 W HUNT CLUB RD, NEPEAN, ON K2E 1B2, CANADA. FROM THE MECHANICS -THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC STEERING BOX BOLTS BROKE FROM EXPOSURE TO SALT JUST AS STATED IN THIS ARTICLE WHERE MERCEDES BENZ IN FACT RECALLED 21,500 OF THESE VEHICLES IN CANADA, BUT NOT IN THE USA? I AM GLAD THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I AM WRITING TO THE NHTSA TO REQUEST THAT THIS RECALL BE VALID FOR ALL AREAS WHERE SALT IS UTILIZED IN THE US AS THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE COULD CAUSE VEHICLE ACCIDENTS RESULTING IN DEATH OR BODILY INJURY IF NOT RECTIFIED. I HOPE NHTSA UNDERSTANDS THIS ISSUE IS NOT JUST IN EASTERN CANADA AS BUFFALO AND DETROIT USES MORE SALT ON THE ROADS THAT MOST CITIES IN CANADA. TOTAL STEERING FAILURE. THE STEERING LOCKED UP SOLID, AND TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MET WITH A HAMMERING NOISE FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, THIS OCCURRED IN OUR DRIVEWAY - HAD IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WOULD DEFINITELY BEEN AN ACCIDENT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP (THE MERCEDES DEALER IS A 1-1/2 HOUR DRIVE FROM WHERE WE LIVE) AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE ALUMINUM BOLTS HOLDING THE ELECTRIC DRIVE MOTOR TO THE STEERING RACK HAD CORRODED THROUGH AND MOTOR HAD FALLEN OFF. I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN CANADA, BUT OUR DEALER (BURLINGTON VERMONT) SAID THERE IS NO RECALL IN THE U.S.

THE DRIVER SEAT PLASTIC/CHROME HANDLE. IS SEPARATING FROM THE PLASTIC THE CHROME HAS BECOME A SHARP PIECE OF METAL. WHEN I REACHED IN THE CAR IT CAUSED A 2.5 INCH LACERATION ON MY FOREARM, HAD TO HAVE SEVEN STITCHES, ANTIBIOTICS AND A TETANUS SHOT.

MY LOCAL DEALER (MERCEDES BENZ OF FORT MYERS) HAS NOT HAD THE PARTS TO FIX THIS RECALL, AND HAS NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THEM. IT'S BEEN TWO YEARS SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED, WITH NO RESOLUTION.

WHEN PUSHING GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TOOK TO DEALER AND ERROR CODE IS GAS PEDAL SENSOR. DEALER SAID IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ECU WIRE HARNESS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW AND DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX IT.

I WAS ISSUED A TAKATA RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS DECEMBER 2017 STATING THAT "THE DEFECT IN YOUR DRIVER, PASSENGER, OR BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATORS MAY CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO EXPLODE DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE FRONT OCCUPANTS, POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." THE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE BY DECEMBER 31, 2018. AS OF TODAY FEBRUARY 17, 2018, OVER 1 YEAR LATER, THE NHTSA WEBSITE SAYS "RECALL INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE." THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I BOUGHT A MERCEDES WITH THE IMPRESSION THAT MERCEDES STANDS BEHIND ITS HIGH SAFETY RATING AND CRASH TEST RATING. IF THE AIRBAG CAUSES SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH UPON DEPLOYMENT IN A CRASH, THEN THE HIGH SAFETY RATING IS IRRELEVANT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR AROUND FOR MORE THAN 1 YEAR RISKING POSSIBLE INJURY OR DEATH BECAUSE THIS MATTER HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED YET. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME RECOURSE. MERCEDES SHOULD STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS AND COMPENSATE ITS LOYAL CLIENTS IF IT CANNOT RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITHIN A TIMELY MANNER. IN MY OPINION, OVER 1 YEAR AND COUNTING IS NOT CONSIDERED A TIMELY MANNER.
