NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Rear frame and brake line damage due to rust and corrosion Problems identified by euro Motorcars Devon (car dealer) Car will not pass safety inspection Outside manufacturer warranty considerations Outside extended warranty considerations
Upon routine maintenance visit to manufacturer dealer, was told that rear subframe assembly was corroded and could fail. Took vehicle to other local manufacturer dealer and they confirmed the same. Was able to catch the issue before incident, but was told subframe failure was imminent.
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated while his wife was driving at 55 mph, the sunroof sliding door detached and fell on her right shoulder and head. The driver sustained headaches for a couple of days but did not seek medical attention. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the airflow panel to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Rusted, corroded subframe. Diagnosed by dealer as unsafe to drive upon 70K service visit.
Rotting Subframe prematurely
My rear subframe is rotting out. This was found at a Mercedes dealer while they were performing a normal scheduled service. They quoted a price to replace the subframe at $3400. It has chewed up my right rear tire and they suggested I replace all four tires at a cost of $1275
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, there was an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the fuel odor was present on the outside of the vehicle. The contact did not see fuel leaking underneath the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and after removing the rear seats from the vehicle, the mechanic became aware of a fuel leak inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V557000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated while entering the vehicle, she noticed the smell of gasoline. The contact started the vehicle with no issues however, the gasoline odor was still in the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the fuel lines running underneath the rear passenger’s seat were leaking and needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic referred the contact to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Brought car in for routine PA inspection and was told the rear subframe is beginning corrode and will eventually need to be replaced soon as it will not pass inspection. This is a known Mercedes Benz issue and yet there has no recall to date. Could potentially lead to a fatal car accident as the corrosion is not obvious.
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E550. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for servicing, the dealer diagnosed that oil had leaked from the cam adjusters to the wiring harness and had reached the ECU. The dealer replaced the camshaft position sensors, the camshaft solenoid and the ECU. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the shift lever would not operate, and the vehicle could not be shifted into gear to be driven. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Gas smell from left rear of vehicle wheel well. As fuel smell inside of car
Automatic Transmission shifts into Park while driving under 6km/h - resulting in sudden stops when pulling onto a road or into an intersection. The creates very unsafe driving conditions. Please refer to attached XENTRY Bulletin issued: Daimler AG 7-09-2015
Pre-safe inoperative warning message comes on at random times. I’ve taken the vehicle in to address this issue, but Mercedes claims they did not see the message, and there are no error codes. I purchased this vehicle because it comes with this safety feature - I find it unacceptable that it does not function.
The component that failed was the front passenger wheel. The safety of others were not affected, however, because of the nature of the incident, the vehicle had to come to a stop in the middle of the highway and then the driver, my husband, was able to pull the car over to the shoulder. My husband originally thought he had a flat because the car was hard to steer, but upon further investigation after removing the front passenger tire/wheel, he noticed that the wheel had a large crack that had broken away from part of the tire. No warning indicator lights appeared on the dashboard before or during the incident.
The contact owns a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was smoking with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to the local dealer an hour before the failure and was diagnosed that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of oil. Additionally, the contact was informed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the local dealer had concealed the condition of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,499.
The transmission shifts hard, with cluck. This is a know problem, according to the Mercedes service manager. My question is why hasn't the manufacturer been made to recall or at least repair it at NO cost to the owner? This is a expensive repair.
A Summary of the May 9, 2021, event follows: 6:30 a.m: I Woke up, put on gym clothes and shoes and drove to gym (1 mile from home). 7:01:40 a.m. Turned into the gym parking lot and slowly inched into a parking space. (my Mercedes rides low in the front so I pull in slowly so the block will not scrape my bumper). 7:02:00 a.m. As I pull slowly into the parking space the car stalls and the engine begins revving very loud. I firmly press my right foot (foot was already on the brake as I was inching into the space) on the brake because the car is still making that revving sound. 7:02:15 a.m. The car is at a complete stop for some time. The engine begins revving even louder and surges forward (foot was still on the brake) four feet. The car hits the brick gym building and comes to a standstill. I turn off the engine and sit there stunned. ( A witness signed a statement and said "car was at a complete stop for some time...thought driver would open her door and get out but then the car suddenly surged forward and hit the building"). After getting out of my car and inspecting the wrecked car, I notice the gas cap is open and I shut it. The police show up, and say "no police report" will be made. I have some injuries (concussion, bruises over full torso and legs) but I treat patients with TBIs so self-diagnosed and treated my injuries without seeking additional medical attention. On May 9, 2021, I call CSAA and report the accident. After several conversations with CSAA Claims Advisor Karl Arnold, it appears the car frame is damaged, and repair costs exceed value of car. The building had no damage. I then attempted to access relevant data on the EDR and was misled by the Mercedes Fairfield dealership, Service Unit. I was told by Josh “the data is irretrievable, and you can’t get it”. I asked why would Congress pass the EDR in to law making EDRs mandatory and data belongs to owner, if it is not retrievable? He had no answer. [xxx] PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *cc
I smell gas in the garage after I fill up my vehicle. I do not over-fill the tank, I remove the gas filler nozzle when it turns off automatically. I feel this is an unsafe condition. I have not yet taken the vehicle to a dealer to investigate this problem. According to my research, this vehicle model has a history of this same complaint in earlier models and was repaired by the dealers no charge through model years 2009. The condition has obviously not been remedied after this defect was discovered.
While using the adaptive cruise system (Distronic plus) on an open section of interstate highway the system will act as though it detects cars where there are none. Sometimes this will result in a slight slowing down of the car without the braking warning signal, but sometimes the braking warning signal will come on and is followed by aggressive braking for no apparent reason. This has happened several times where the system falsely detects the need to decelerate on its own when there is nothing in the road to cause it.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V010000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT INFORMED MERCEDES-BENZ OF LOUISVILLE (2520 TERRA CROSSING BLVD, LOUISVILLE, KY 40245) AND THE MANUFACTURER OF THE RECALL NOTIFICATION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS PENDING THOUGH THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, BUT THE RECALL REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED UNTIL THE PENDING STATUS WAS RELEASED ON THE VIN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
FAILED CAM SELENOID TRIGGERED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THROWING CODES BECAUSE OIL HAS TRAVELED INTO THE WIRE HARNESS. BODY/WIRE HARNESS REPLACEMENT AS WELL AS AFFECTED 02 SENSORS FROM OIL SATURATION
I NOTICED THE SMELL OF GAS IN THE GARAGE WHENEVER THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE MERCEDES DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT SIDE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS LEAKING GAS. THE VEHICLE HAS A METAL GAS TANK AND THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS BUILT INTO THE GAS TANK AND THEREFORE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $4209.65.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR ITS ANNUAL SERVICE ON JANUARY 21, 2021, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME AND BRAKE LINES WERE SO BADLY RUSTED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE ENTIRE SUBFRAME AND REAR LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE LINES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $5,300 (MERCEDES BENZ USA GAVE ME A "GOOD WILL" DISCOUNT SO I PAID LESS THAN THAT AMOUNT). I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND I TAKE METICULOUS CARE OF IT. IT IS PARKED IN A GARAGE, RECEIVES EVERY RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE CHECK AT THE SAME MECHANIC (EURO MOTORCARS BETHESDA, MD) AND HAS LOW MILEAGE FOR ITS AGE. ONLY ONE YEAR AND 7,000 MILES HAD ELAPSED BETWEEN THE CAR'S LAST SERVICE AND THE DISCOVERY OF THE CORROSION. IN OTHER WORDS, IN JUST ONE YEAR THE SUBFRAME OF THE CAR CORRODED TO THE EXTENT THAT IT WAS SO UNSAFE TO DRIVE THAT ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC I AM LUCKY THAT I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS THROUGHOUT MY LIFE FOR UPWARDS OF 10 YEARS AND NONE OF THEM HAVE HAD RUST CORROSION ISSUES. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE WITH THE MATERIALS MERCEDES BENZ USED ON THIS VEHICLE'S SUBFRAME. THE NHTSA DATABASE SHOWS THAT ANOTHER PERSON WITH THE SAME VEHICLE (WHO COINCIDENTALLY SEEMS TO HAVE PURCHASED HIS CAR AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MINE - EURO MOTORCARS BETHESDA) ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. HOW MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW THAT THEY CAN FILE A SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA? THE MECHANIC TOOK A SHORT VIDEO OF THE CORROSION THAT I AM NOT ATTACHING TO THIS COMPLAINT; PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO SEND IT.
THE AIR BAG SENSOR IS BAD

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V010000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE RADIATOR LEAKED WATER INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND POSSIBLY THE TORQUE CONVERTER. OUR MERCEDES ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT.
THE VEHICLE JUST CAUGHT ON FIRE WHICH LOOKS LIKE IT STARTED SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE WHILE BEING PARKED.
I I GET IN A MINOR ACCIDENT WHEN MY BRAKES FAILED AND MERCEDES BENZ CHARGE ME $8000.00 TO FIX IT . I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE BRAKES LIGHT WENT ON "LOW FLUID" TAKING IT TO MANHATTAN BENZ AND THEY CHARGE ME $8614.50 BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REPLACE ALL THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES. IAM 80 AND MAX. DRIVING 5000MILES/YR
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HEADING HOME, I HEAR SOMETHING PULL A LOOSE AND A SIZZLING SOUND. PULLED OVER TO CHECK TIRES, THEY WERE OK. PULLED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD LOUD SOUNDS OF METAL AS THOUGH EVERYTHING UNDER MY CAR WAS BREAKING APART. PULL OVER AGAIN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE NOISE STOPPED. OPENED DOOR AND NOTICE SMOKE (THOUGHT TO BE FLUIDS) AND FELT HEAT ON THE FLOOR BOARD. OPEN DOOR AGAIN AND SAW FIRE.
SAFETY RECALL INTERIM NOTICE ABOUT A SAFETY DEFECT FOR MY VEHICLE WAS RECEIVED ON MARCH 19, 2019. STATES A PASSENGER SIDE INFLATOR EXPLOSION COULD OCCUR. AT TIME OF NOTICE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. DESPITE DIRE WARNINGS OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO THE DEFECT, IT IS NOW SEVENTEEN MONTHS LATER AND MERCEDES STILL DOES NOT HAVE AN ESTIMATED DATE OF REPAIR OR EVEN WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER HUSBAND HAD ATTEMPTED TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER THE PARKING BARRIER AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD FOR ADDITIONAL 25-30 FEET BEFORE HITTING A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED IN THE CRASH; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND WAS TREATED AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR INJURIES TO THE LEFT SIDE OF HER RIBS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AT THE SCENE AND WAS INITIALLY TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD; THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT AWAITED AN INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. A DEALER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
I AM REPORTING A FINDING ON MY ENGINE (M276) THAT IS THE SAME RELATED TO OTHER MERCEDES ENGINE MODELS M272 AND M273. RECENTLY, I DISCOVERED OIL IN ALL FOUR (4) ENGINE CAMSHAFT SOLENOID (P/N 276-156-07-90) CONNECTORS AND THE WIRE HARNESS PLUG. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN MERCEDES BENZ CAMPAIGN NO. 2012070002, DATED SEPTEMBER 2012. THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY MIGRATION OF OIL BEYOND THE HOUSING OF THE CAMSHAFT SOLENOID. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT AND THE SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT IF LEFT UNCORRECTED CAN CAUSE STOPPAGE OF THE ENGINE.
BRAKE LINE FROM MASTER CYLINDER TO REAR WHEELS ROTTEN, STARTED LEAKING. VEHECLE HAS 35000 MILES, ACCORDING TO VITI MECEDES BENZ DEALER, THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM THAT THEY REPORTED IN THE PAST,NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE A MODEL YEAR 2013 MERCEDES E350 THAT HAS A SAFETY DEFECT WITH RUSTED BRAKE LINES THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BY YOUR AGENCY. DURING A RECENT VISIT TO THE MERCEDES DEALER (EUROMOTORCARS IN BETHESDA, MARYLAND), I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR HAS SEVERELY RUSTED BRAKE LINES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY AT A COST OF ABOUT $3300. I SUBSEQUENTLY HAD MY CAR INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP (STAR CAR AUTO SERVICE IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND) THAT CONFIRMED THE DEALER'S DIAGNOSIS THAT THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE ON MANY CARS LIKE MINE. AS A RETIRED SENIOR, I HAVE OWED NUMEROUS VEHICLES (ONE CAR I OWNED FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS) AND NEVER HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE LINES REPLACED ON ANY OF MY CARS. HAVING TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINE ON A SEVEN YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 37,000 MILES IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BY ANY STANDARD AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BY YOUR AGENCY. I HAVE ATTACHED THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER AND PICTURES TAKEN BY THE DEALER OF THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND FOR OTHERS ON THE ROAD AS A BRAKE LINE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SERIOUS ISSUE OF RUSTING BRAKE LINES ON MY 2013 MERCEDES E350.
When driving on a highway, heard a clunk and lost all power. Not much traffic and was able to pulled over to side of road. Mechanic reported that front drive shaft failed. Not sure of exact details but could have involved the bolts in the driveshaft shearing off. Apologies for the late report, did not know owners could make these reports.
THE BLIND SPOT ASSIST (BSA) SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING AND CAUSES INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS TO THE HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTIONING DURING DRIVING OR DASHBOARD MESSAGES FLASHING WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY REPORTED ON MERCEDES E350 4MATIC CARS ACROSS MULTI YEAR MODELS. MERCEDES IS UNWILLING TO SHARE DATA OF THIS SYSTEMIC FAILURES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE BSA SYSTEM COMPONENTS
ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK MALFUNCTION, CAR DEAD NOT ABLE TO START OR MOVE. STATIONARY, ONCE PARKED THE ELECTRONIC LOCK MECHANISM FAILED AND THE CAR WILL NOT TURN ON SINCE LOCK WILL NOT DISENGAGE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HER SPOUSE DROVE HER VEHICLE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ADJUSTED TO HIS DESIRED POSITION AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE CONTACT NOTICED THE WHEEL WAS REMAINED IN THE LAST POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWN EUROCARS MERCEDES-BENZ LOCATED AT (8302 US HWY 19 N, PINELLAS PARK, FL 33781) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A STEERING MECHANISM MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
ENGINE WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK WITH OUT TURNING VEHICLE ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 17V017000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE ELECTRIC STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL UP AND/OR DOWN (TILT FEATURE) HAS BECOMES INOPERABLE (THE TELESCOPIC ADJUSTMENT FEATURE STILL WORKS). THIS MAKES PROPER STEERING WHEEL AND AIR BAG LOCATION IMPOSSIBLE. IT WAS FIRST NOTICED UPON STARTING THE CAR AT WORK THAT THE STEERING WHEEL REMAINED IN THE UP POSITION (ENTRY/EXIT). THIS APPARENTLY IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM THAT IMPACTS MULTIPLE MODELS AND MODEL YEARS. MY FRIEND'S 2013 C250 ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM, BUT WAS REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL / TSB. THE BROKEN PART IS INEXPENSIVE, BUT THE LABOR REQUIRES REMOVAL OF THE LOWER DRIVER'S DASH COMPONENTS, WHICH CAN BE COSTLY.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V010000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. VITI MERCEDES-BENZ (975 FISH RD, TIVERTON, RI 02878, (401) 352-6555) WAS CONTACTED AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.*DT*JB*DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 MERCEDES-BENZ E330. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE "VEHICLE INOPERATIVE, SEE OWNER'S MANUAL" WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF WILMINGTON (LOCATED AT 3801 LANCASTER PIKE, WILMINGTON, DE 19805, (302) 995-2211) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A DEFINITE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE MAY BE NECESSARY TO PREVENT THE FAILURE FROM RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE SOFTWARE UPDATE STILL HAD NOT BEEN PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL" THE RECALL ON MY AIR BAG HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE JAN 2019 AND THE PART STILL ISN'T IN. IT SAYS IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY, METAL FRAGMENTS CAN FLY OUT AND KILL THE PERSON, THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF ASAP! IT DIDN'T HAPPEN YET BUT I WANT A PUSH TO GET THIS RECALL COMPLETED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER WORK DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ONE AFTERNOON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG I PULLED OVER TO SEE IF A ROCK OR ROAD DEBRIS HAD HIT MY CAR. I COULD NOT FIND ANY SIGNS OF IMPACT. LATER ON I NOTICED THAT THE PANORAMIC ROOF SECTION BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF IMPACT NO ROCK CHIPS, NOTHING.
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED NOTICE ON 2/18/19, AND MERCEDES INFORMS ME THAT REPLACEMENT AIR BAG WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY 2020. GIVEN THAT THE AIR BAG FAILURE MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, MERCEDES SHOULD REPLACE IT ASAP, OR DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE AIR BAG.
ACCIDENT IN WHICH VEHICLE WILL BE TOTALED. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. HIT A POLE ON CENTER DIVIDER. MERCEDES ROADSIDE WAS ON SCENE IN MINUTES AND TOWED MY CAR. THEY SAID THE SYSTEM ALERTED THEM TO THE CRASH.
DESPITE ALL ATTEMPTS, I AM UNABLE TO GET MERCEDES-BENZ USA TO SHARE THE GROUND CLEARANCE SPECIFICATION FOR MY VEHICLE. MY CAR HAS 145,000 MILES. I NEED TO REPLACE FRONT SHOCKS/STRUTS. I NEED THE GROUND CLEARANCE SPEC IN ORDER TO DETERMINE WHETHER TO REPLACE FRONT SPRINGS AT THE SAME TIME. GROUND CLEARANCE IS COMMONLY PUBLISHED AS PART OF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR ALL OTHER CARS. THIS IS THE FIRST CAR I HAVE OWNED FOR WHICH THE GROUND CLEARANCE SPECIFICATION IS NEITHER PUBLISHED NOR AVAILABLE THROUGH OTHER MEANS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. MBUSA FIRST DIRECTED ME TO THE LOCAL DEALER BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND THE SPEC. THEN THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THIS SPECIFICATION AND THEY COULDN'T HELP. NEXT, I REACHED OUT TO THE MERCEDES CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER IN EUROPE. BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND THE SPECIFICATION EITHER. FINALLY, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM MERCEDES-BENZ USA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER. THEY GAVE ME A GROUND CLEARANCE SPECIFICATION THAT IS FAR LOWER THAN THE CLEARANCE ON MY CAR. FOR HIGH-MILEAGE CARS, THE GROUND CLEARANCE SHOULD BE LOWER THAN SPEC, NOT HIGHER. WHEN I STATED THIS, THEY GAVE ME A DIFFERENT HIGHER NUMBER. BOTTOMLINE - UNLESS I HAVE THE TRUE GROUND CLEARANCE SPECIFICATION FOR MY CAR, I CAN'T DETERMINE WHETHER MY CAR'S SUSPENSION IS IN GOOD HEALTH. A TIRED, SAGGING, SUSPENSION COULD LEAD TO SAFETY ISSUES. ON A RELATED NOTE, MERCEDES-BENZ HAS ZERO STOCK WORLDWIDE FOR THE FRONT SPRINGS FOR MY 2013 VEHICLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD.
