2014 ML350 TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 105,000 MILES HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION SINCE 75,000 MILES. BOUGHT NEW.
WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED AT EXTREMELY HIGH REVS, THEN BECAME 'STUCK' IN FOURTH GEAR. THE MANUAL SHIFTING PADDLES WOULD NOT SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION UP OR DOWN. PLACING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE HAD NO IMPACT. VEHICLE REMAINED IN FOURTH GEAR. BECAUSE I WAS ON A HIGHWAY, IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC, IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. EVENTUALLY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND ONCE IT WAS RESTARTED, THE CAR SHIFTED NORMALLY. THE HIGH-REV SHIFTING EVENT HAD OCCURRED ONE TIME BEFORE (APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO), BUT BECAUSE OF THE SHORT NATURE OF THE TRIP, I NEVER REQUIRED SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH.
THE VEHICLE SENSORS ALL STARTED FLASHING, INCLUDING THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, PARKING BRAKE, TEMPERATURE GAUGE, ETC. THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATED WILDLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I WAS TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE, UNABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR OUT OF GEAR INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT I OBVIOUSLY COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR WHILE IT WAS IN GEAR AND RUNNING. AFTER ABOUT 3 MINUTES OF TRYING TO GET THE CAR INTO PARK I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. IT WAS EXTREMELY SCARY. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. *TR
