TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE SEVERAL MINUTES LATER. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,400. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, MY LIGHTS TURNED OFF BY THEMSELVES ON A DARK RURAL ROAD. IF I HADN'T JAMMED ON THE BRAKES, I WOULD HAVE EATEN THE RAILING OR WORSE. TURNS OUT THE (LCM) LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE, IS DEFECTIVE. WHEN I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT MANY CARS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, EVEN MY LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE $578 PLUS 2 HOURS LABOR FOR A PART THAT GOES UNDER THE DASH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A 25 AMP FUSE WAS IN PLACE OF A 20 AMP FUSE AND CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO STOP WORKING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUSE AND NO OTHER FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND HE DOES NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
2001 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. FREQUENTLY A PLUME OF SMOKE COMES OUT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING POST. THERE IS ALSO A BURNING ODOR. IT ONLY LASTS FOR A SECOND. THERE IS NO EQUIPMENT FAILURE SO FAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS AND THEY TELL ME THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON, DON"T WORRY ABOUT IT. I HAVE WRITTEN TO FORD CORP. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 MERCURY MARQUIS. WHILE SHIFTING INTO PARK, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SOUND THE HORN, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. A CRASH OCCURRED, BUT THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE HORN IN THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO BE DIFFICULT TO FIND. THE CONTACT WANTS TO KNOW IF THE HORN IS LOCATED UNDER THE HORN SYMBOL OR UNDER THE AIR BAG. HE HAS TO REMOVE HIS HANDS FROM THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO BLOW THE HORN, WHICH TAKES A LOT OF EFFORT. HE FEELS THAT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,414.
I TRADED A 1999 GRAND MARQUIS IN ON A 2001 GRAND MARQUIS ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO. A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE 99 WAS THAT THE DASH LIGHTS KEPT BLOWING FUSES. NOW THE 2001 IS DOING THE SAME THING, THERE IS ONLY 53,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

CAR LURCHED FORWARD AT STOP LIGHT ,ENGINE CUT IN AND OUT DURING HIGH SPEED EXPRESS DRIVING RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER BRAKE AS WELL POWER STEERING. CAR WAS FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP AT MY EXPENSE. EMISSION WARRANTY BOOK SHOWS THE 80K EMISSION WARRANTY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF IT AT NO COST.?CAR HAS 72K MILES. ALSO THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT " COMPONENT ARE NOT OPERATING! THE APRIL 2006 CONSUMER REPORT GIVES THE 2001 CROWN VICTORIA AND GRAND MARQUIS A BLACK MARK IN THE IGNITION SECTION. FORD SHOULD REPLACE BALANCE OF 6 IGNITION COILS AND PAY ME FOR THE REPAIR. THIS MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS LS HAS HAD 4 FAILURES OF COIL PACKS. THESE CAN CAUSE SERVIOUS DAMAGE TO AUTO BY PUTING THE AUTO OUT OF BALANCE OR STRANDING YOU ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS AUTO HAS HAD SEVERAL FAILURES THAT RESULTED IN COSTLY REPAIRS, AND NO RECALL EXISTED WHEN IN FACT THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON ALL MARQUES. RESEARCH SAYS THAT ALL FORDS MADE IN CANADA HAVE SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS DUE TO INFERIOR PARTS WHICH I PRESUME ARE IMPORTED. I DO HAVE OLD PARTS FOR YOUR INSPECTION FROM ONE OF THE REPLACED COILS. ONE DEALER IN DALLAS REFUSED TO PROVIDE OLD PARTS. I DO HAVE RECEIPTS FOR ALL REPAIRS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. IT VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE #6 COIL BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *TC *JB
TURNING SIGNAL STARTED TO FLASHING REALLY FAST, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY AGAIN. *NLM
