STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED UPSIDE DOWN. THIS PLACES THE AIRBAG IN THE WRONG POSITION. WILL BE REPAIRED TODAY BY DEALER.*AK
MY WIFE HIT A SUBURBAN ON ITS DRIVER SIDE. OUR CAR HAD $6000.00 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF OUR 2003 MERCURY MARQUIS WITH ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT, THERE BY CAUSING FACIAL INJURY AND A BROKEN NOSE. *LA
ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL ARE LOCATED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. THIS WOULD CAUSE A MISAPPLICATION TO THE WRONG PEDAL WHEN BRAKING OR ACCELERATING, AT THE SAME TIME. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHEN DRIVING 60 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY, CAUSING A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. THE DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BACK, RIGHT SHOULDER, NECK AND ARM INJURIES FROM THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG . *AK *NLM *NLM *JB

THE HUB CAPS ON MY 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS REGULARLY FALL OFF. I'VE LOST THREE SO FAR. MY DEALER REPORTS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT SO FAR I'VE SEEN NO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT IT.*AK
BACK FRAME IS CRACKED ON BOTH SIDES. CONSUMER SAYS THAT FRAME IS TEARING FROM VEHICLE STRUCTURE. CONSUMER HAS MADE CONTACT WITH DEALER. *AK *TS
AFTER STARTING AND SHIFTING INTO DRIVE THE ENGINE RACED AND THERE WAS UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP EVEN WHILE APPLYING BRAKE. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AFTER CRASH AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO SOUND LIKE IT WAS RUNNING. *PH
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 1997 MERCURY MARQUIS HOME IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SUDDENLY STEAM BEGAN POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE "HOT" LIGHT WENT ON. SHE PULLED TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED ME. I SENT A TOW TRUCK TO BRING THE CAR TO OUR HOME. I LOOKED AND COULD SEE WATER ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND PERHAPS A HOSE BROKEN. RATHER THAN TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, 20 MILES AWAY, I CALLED A QUALITY GARAGE LOCALLY THAT I HAD DEALT WITH BEFORE. THEY SAID THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED, THE WATER PUMP LEAKING AS A MINIMUM. THE COST TO REPLACE AND FIX EVERYTHING WAS $1075. WHILE CALLING AROUND FOR PARTS, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND FORD HAD RECALLED POLICE AND CITY FLEET VEHICLES FOR UPGRADE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. UPON CHECKING WITH THE MERCURY SHOP FOREMAN, HE CONFIRMED THAT STORY. SINCE I HAD A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY THAT HAD EXPIRED ONLY A FEW MONTHS PRIOR, I ASKED WHY FORD WOULD NOT HELP PAY FOR THE DAMAGE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED. I ASKED WHY, KNOWING THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTED, WHY THEY HAD NOT FIXED IT UNDER THE WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THEY NEVER THOUGHT OF IT. LOUSY SERVICE, LOUSY ENGINEERING AND I NOW DRIVE A TOYOTA. *NM
INHERENT SAFETY DESIGN OF THE TRUNK LID: I GOT A GASH IN MY FOREHEAD AS I WAS OPENING THE TRUNK LID AND THE LOWER EDGE OF THE LICENSE PLATE CUT INTO MY SCALP JUST BELOW THE HAIR LINE. I BELIEVE THAT THE TRUNK LID DROPPED AS I LEANED INTO THE TRUNK TO RETRIEVE MY BELONGINGS FROM THE TRUNK. I BLED PROFUSELY.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT INTERMITTENT SUDDEN ACCELERATION. IT OCCURRED WHEN THE CLIMATE WAS HOT, AND THE ENGINE WAS WARM. WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR TO MOVE IT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE RIPENS WAREHOUSE. THE DEALER COMPLETED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, AND THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. I HAVE A 2003 GRAND MARQUIS GS, THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED TURNING OFF FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS; ONE TIME I HAD A CAR FULL OF CHILDREN AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT ON A BACK ROAD, I ALMOST DROVE INTO A TREE. I HAD TO RIDE HOME WITH THE HIGHBEAMS ON. IT TURNS OUT THAT ITS AN EXPENSIVE PART AND A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS MODEL; WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL, WE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED AND IF SO MANY COMPLAINTS ARE BEING FILED WHY IS NOTHING BEING DONE? *TR
THE VEHICLE HIT A CURB WHICH BENT THE RIGHT WHEEL HUB. *NLM CUSTOMER ADVISES THAT WHEEL BENT AS A RESULT OF DRIVING OVER POTHOLES AND NORMAL ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS COMMON TO THE PHILADELPHIA PA AND TRENTON NJ AREAS. TWO WHEELS WERE DAMAGED IN THE FIRST 5000 MILES OF USE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER COULD SMELL GAS FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. *NLM
VEHICLE VIBRATES AT ANY SPEED, GETTING WORSE AS SPEED INCREASES. WHEN HITTING A BUMP THE STEERING WHEEL TWISTS TO THE RIGHT. DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, SAID HE FELT THE VIBRATION, AND IT WAS A WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE PURCHASED.DEALER SAID THAT VIBRATION WAS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN THE CONSUMER PUT THE GEAR INTO REVERSE ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. *NLM PH *JB
VEHICLE STALLED AT ANY SPEED, STALLED 25 TIMES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXAMINED BY DEALER 4 TIMES. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT DEALER A TOTAL OF 36 DAYS. PRIMARY COMPUTER WAS RESET, THEN REPLACED BY DEALER. THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES FAILED. THE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PRESS WHICH RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION. *NLM SUSPECTED THE BRAKE/GAS PEDAL RAISED TO THE SAME LEVEL WHEN SWITCH WAS ACTIVATED, POSSIBLE DEPRESSING BRAKE AND GAS AT THE SAME TIME. 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUES STALLS AT OR NEAR IDLE SPEED. HAS STALLED WHEN BACKING UP, WHEN STARTING FORWARD FROM STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALER, RAY PEARMAN LINCOLN MERCURY 4 TIME FOR A TOTAL OF 9 DAYS. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX PROBLEM AS OF YET. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A STALLING PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE AND THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. EACH TIME THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD IT FIXED AND HAD ME TAKE THE CAR, IT HAS STALLED AGAIN. ONE TIME IT STALLED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM. *AK
NAR 05/21/2003 *MR WITH LESS THAN 250 MILES THE CONSUMER BRAKE PEDAL SLOWLY SANK TO THE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY RECALL THE VEHICLE AND FIX THE BRAKE PROBLEM. *CB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS CONSTANTLY TURN ON AND OFF. HE WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 45,000.
THERE IS INSUFFICIENT CUSHIONING IN ALL OF THE SEATS IN THIS VEHICLE. CONSUMER COMPLAINS THAT SITTING ON THE SEATS OF VEHICLE IS LIKE SITTING ON A WOODEN BENCH.*AK

CONSUMER INDICATED OF HAVING PROBLEM WITH A FOUR SET OF TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WHICH ARE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES MODEL #P225/60R16 MODEL. *NLM
THE DRIVER DOOR STICKS WHEN OPENED, AND HAVE TO DO SO TWO TIMES, WITH BOTH HANDS TO GET OUT. (PASSENGER DOOR ALSO) THE PLASTIC HANDLE MAKES IT HARD AND WILL CUT YOUR HAND. THE TRIPLE TRACT SEAL ACTS AS IF IT WERE CRAZY GLUE. *JB SCC
THE CONSUMER HAD TO COVER UP THE EMBLEM IN THE MIDDLE OF STEERING WHEEL DUE TO THE SUN REFLECTING FROM IT DIRECTLY INTO HIS EYES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE REPLACED, THE DEFROSTER DID NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND THERE WAS A VIBRATION UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR END HOWLED, ALSO THE VEHICLE HAD NO HEADLIGHTS,TAIL LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS OR DASH LIGHTS. *AK *JB
STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST WAS RUSTED. *MR THE VEHICLE HAD A STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST. AFTER THE RETURN FROM FLORIDA WHERE THEY STAYED FOR WINTER, THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS FOUND RUSTED. *SCC *JB
CONSUMER STATES "DUE TO FUMES THAT WERE IN VEHICLE CONSUMER FAINTED. CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK

CONSUMER STATED THAT DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS, WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER STEPPED ON GAS PEDAL, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE AND RUN INTO A POST.*AK
WHILE WAITING FOR RED THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE DRIVER COULD NOT MAINTAIN CONTROL, THE VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. *AK THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, THE ELECTRONIC FUEL SHUT OFF AND DID NOT ENGAGE AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT TIGHTEN. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE ADJUSTABLE PEDALS CAUSED THE ACCIDENT AND HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF ACCIDENTS. FORD CLAIMED THAT FAULT IS THE DRIVER'S FAULT DUE TO THEIR FOOT BEING ON BOTH PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. *SCC *JB
