NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2010 Mercury Mariner. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the message "Power Steering Assist Failure" was displayed, and the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn in either direction. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering), which the contact related to the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The failure mileage was 185,000.
Me and my wife purchased a vehicle from a private seller to use for personal commute. A month later we started to notice more issue were occurring with the car then stated from the seller. I took it to an auto body shop to get it inspected and possibly serviced and upon that inspection the clerk stated that there was a milage adjustment done to the vehicle. We contacted the seller to try and return the vehicle and receive our money back, but the dealer refused and requested us to resell it.
The passenger side of the subframe has holes and will veer hard right when it brakes
Power Steering assist fault went out with no warning. Now steering wheel is locking up while driving. Also when trying to gain speed the vehicle bogs out.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 MPH and attempting to park the vehicle, the power steering became inoperable. The power steering failure message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The failure mileage was unknown.
Engine light came on after putting fuel in my car it is hapless the codes read emission and fuel issues to replace cap but it is hapless it says it's an issue that needs to be fixed now my engine light won't go off
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated while attempting to pull out of a parking space, she became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly. The EPS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 65,000.
The power steering assist is malfunctioning and it is available for inspection upon request. The steering wheel is very difficult to turn, it's as if the power steering assist is keeping the wheel from turning. No, but I spoke to someone at Ford and they said that it sounded like my car should be in the recall that was announced for my vehicle type but my VIN was not included in the recall. My car has not been inspected by anyone but it says right on the dash board digital display that there is a "Power Steering Assist Fault". Ford does this with many vehicles they recall, a lot of vehicles that should be included in the recalls are not and we're supposed to foot the bill for their lack of concern for public safety? It's going to cause an accident but it's my only working car and I can't afford to pay for their mistakes. How many have died due to their negligence I'm wondering.
My vehicle keeps throwing codes for the EVAP system. I have noticed many of these vehicles have to have their Purge Valve Cannister replaced along with the selenoid for it. I have to replace mine. Is that not a defect if the vehicle? I have owned several vehicles and never had this issue with any of them.
I bought a 2010 Mercury Mariner on June 22, 2023 from a local dealer. There are several recalls associated with the make and model of the vehicle, but they do not appear to be associated with the VIN on my vehicle. However, the recalls on the vehicle appear to be affecting my vehicle and there is a warning on the dashboard of my car about the fuel system which is one of the recalls on the vehicle. Fuel Delivery System is causing issues in my vehicle.
I recently purchase 2010 Mercury Mariner. There is a few errors appearing on the screen in front of the steering wheel. One of the error is "CHECK FUEL LINES." It also has an error about the tire pressure sensor. It also rides roughly, but the wheels are like new, so it feels like the suspension or shocks have something wrong with them. Also, there is a lot of play in the steering wheel when driving it. When I went to check on the recalls in the system by putting in my VIN, it shows that there are no recalls on my vehicle. However, these errors and issues are connected to the recalls for my vehicle. I am sure that these recalls have not been taken care of for this vehicle and they need to be fixed.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that the power steering fault warning light was illuminated. The power steering assist had failed which made the vehicle difficult to steer. The contact stated that the power steering fuse lines were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the power steering assist fault message flashed on the instrument panel. The contact then stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number:14V284000 (Steering). The contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
Driving downhill after dropping my children off at school heard a loud popping noise and brake pedal fell to the floor. Total loss of brakes. Coasted to the side off the road narrowly avoiding busy intersection. Vehicle was looked at by mechanic, traced to faulty ABS Sensor. Serious safety hazard— Recall must be issued immediately to prevent accidents and injuries!
Brake pedal went to floor on my 10 Mariner, slid into intersection, no warning lights came on, checked for any fluid leaks and there were none. This is 2nd time it has happened and is extremely dangerous! Believe, like others that it is the ABS control. Ford should fix this immediately!
The contact's mother owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated while her mother was driving 45 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The driver stated the tire pressure and the power steering warning lights were illuminated. The driver was able to park the vehicle on side of the road. The owner took the vehicle to the independent mechanic and associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering), however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,437
When the weather is hot (close to 100 degrees or more) and I am driving with the a/c - my vehicle on 3 occasions will not start after parking the vehicle and trying to restart it. The red padlock sign blinks and it won't start. At first it is trying to turnover but then will continually sound worse and all other warning lights go haywire. I leave the car alone for half a day and it starts up again like nothing happened. On the fourth occasion, the car stopped while driving, just a quiet shutdown and the car glided. This time it did not work for over 24 hours and then started up again like nothing happened. Multiple mechanics and also the dealership cannot figure out the problem because by the time i have it towed to shop, it works again. They did a full check on the car and cannot find anything wrong and there were no diagnostic codes. This issue happens when the weather is hot and poses a safety concern as now it is shutting off while driving and I become stranded each time. (First incident happened 8/25/18, last incident 5/14/22) Total of 4.
My vehicle has been running out of gas extremely quick. It also leaks underneath when I am pumping gas into the Mariner. I am having a loud thunking sound underneath the vehicle an when I let off the accelerator, my car slowly comes to a hault. My power steering went out one day also without warning. I can't figure the problem out except I seen a recall for the power steering module or some sort that has malfunctioned an causes the computer to erase the power steering sensor completely clean of it's existence. Please help!
the power steering assist fault it just stopped working. very hard to turn I have called dealerships but despite the same make and model of the recall they can't see anything for it when they search online
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and making a left turn, the vehicle came to a complete stop. There was no warning light illuminated on the instrument at the time of the failure; however, the power steering warning had since been illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
My steering column started shaking uncontrollably I noticed that the steering was harder and harder to steer and then it went out completely after my steering wheel was vibrating at a very high speed and shaking and controllably and making weird noises 5 minutes later my entire power steering went out I am now forced to drive my vehicle because I have another choice and I have a bad although which is now worse because of the steering my vehicle and the steering being out has messed with my starter it has messed with my brace and it has made my water pump belt fray which almost has broken off my AC compressor does not work my car is just not safe
Brakes inspected, back frame rusting out severe holes, mechanic stated you need another vehicle within a year
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that upon entering a parking lot at a low rate of speed, the power steering assist failed as the power steering assist fault warning message illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who later informed her that her vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The contact called the dealer and the manufacturer who informed her that there were no recalls on her vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure was unknown.
The wheel wells are rusted out in the rear. Of the vehicle
"Power Steering Assist Fault" message appeared, and the steering became stiff, indicating the power steering stopped working. This happened while coming down from a snowy mountain pass, which put myself, my passengers, and other vehicles at risk. Even though there was a 2014 recall for this problem, I was told by Ford dealership that there were no open recalls on my car (indicating it was either fixed and broke again, or my car was never included in the recall-- as I purchased the vehicle secondhand, I am unsure which it is). It will be a $1200 fix fat this Ford dealership for a known and dangerous problem that should, but won't, be covered by the previous recall. There should be an easier way to track fixed recalls through the NHTSA Vin lookup program.
lost of steering control because of power steering failed. And caused elec. system to go nuts
I was driving when it felt like the vehicle was reving in park then the "wrench" icon appeared on my dash. I went a couple blocks & my vehicle felt like it wasn't shifting automatically as it should. I pulled over & turned it off. It started right back up with no lights on, I went half a block & stopped at a stop sign but while stopped the engine reved up. I was worried I was going to be in an accident. Then the "wrench" light came back on, since I was close to home I figured I'd just try to get home. About another block, the check engine light came on & was making strange noises. I kept my vehicle at about 5-10 mph & got it home. My car was very jerky.
Steering power fault light came on Steering difficulty

I WAS LEAVING WORK AND DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT BUT THEN IT CAME BACK AND IT KEPT DOING IT OFF AND ON . LUCKILY I ONLY LIVE 15 MILES FROM WORK. ITS HAPPEN BEFORE WHEN I WAS IN A TURN BUT I DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT TILL IT STARTED DOING IT TODAY THANKFULLY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I DIDN'T HAVE A ACCIDENT
I'M VERY UPSET AND ON THE VERGE OF TEARS! AS I PULLED OUT OF THE BANK YESTERDAY, I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED ON ME! I ALMOST WRECKED! ON JULY 21, 2014 I TOOK MY CAR TO FREEDOM FORD IN MCALESTER, OK FOR RECALL #14S05. I WAS TOLD THE MODELS WOULD BE UPDATED TO " POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT! SO AFTERWARDS I LEFT ON MY MERRY WAY KNOWING THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS ISSUE AGAIN! WRONG! IS THERE ANYTHING FORD CAN DO TO BACK UP WHAT THEY SAID? THEY SAID UPDATING THE MODULES WOULD "PREVENT" THIS FROM HAPPENING? WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST SAY THAT IN A FEW YEARS IT WILL HAPPEN SO BE CAREFUL?? I"M SO UPSET! PLEASE HELP ME! I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY THE $1,600. PART THAT FORD SAYS I NEED! I REALLY THING THERE SHOULD BE AN UPDATED RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE THAT WAS NOT RESOLVED BY UPDATING MODULES!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING LOST POWER AND WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE FORD LINCOLN OF QUEENS SERVICE CENTER DEALER, LOCATED IN QUEENS, NEW YORK, (888) 705-7067, AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 185,000.
WHEN PULLING UP TO HOME TO PARK ALONG STREET AND BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE.HEAR A LOUD NOISE AND BRAKE MESSAGE POPPED UP ON DASHBOARD. BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO FLOOR. PULLED EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP VEHICLE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO CAR DOCS IN ROCKLIN CA WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE ABS MODULE (AND OTHER MODULE FAILURE). THEY STATED THAT THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN ON OLDER FORD/MERCURY HYBRIDS, AND THEY WERE SURPRISED THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT A STOPLIGHT. THE LIGHT HAD TURNED GREEN, AND THE VEHICLE WAS BREAKING TO STOP BEHIND THE FIRST VEHICLE. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO FOLLOW THE FIRST VEHICLE AND THE CAR STALLED. THE CAR COULD NOT BE TURNED BACK ON OR PUT IN MOTION. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM PRIOR TO THIS THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE CAR WAS PUSHED OFF THE ROAD BY 3 PEOPLE AND INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THE PROBLEM THAT MADE THE VEHICLE UNSAFE WAS A DEFECTIVE FORD THROTTLE BODY. THE REFERENCE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE JUNE 2014, BUT FORD ONLY SUGGESTED A RECALIBRATION (NOT REPLACEMENT). THE RECALIBRATION WAS COMPLETED AT FORD AUTONATION ON JUNE 23, 2014. FORD HAD ESTIMATED A THROTTLE BODY REDUCTION IN MOVABILITY AND NOT FAILURE. THE MILEAGE OF THIS MERCURY MARINER ON THE DATE OF REPAIR WAS 142551 AND THE IN-SERVICE DATE, 06/18/2010. THEREFORE, THE REIMBURSEMENT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER FORD'S EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 150000 MILES/10 YEARS. THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED 06/08/2020. TEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. FORD CLAIMS THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS WAS WELL-DOCUMENTED IN THE PREVIOUS CLAIM 13N03 AND THIS CASE SHOULD BE REOPENED, BASED ON THE FATALITY POSSIBILITY OF A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE WITH THE ORIGINAL PART THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS ALSO RE-CALIBRATED PER FORD'S RECALL IN 2014. THIS INCIDENT PROVES THAT FORD'S RE-CALIBRATION DID NOT PREVENT FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY. ASKING FOR A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY FOR THE SIMILAR MAKES AND MODELS STILL IN CIRCULATION AS IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD AND ALSO REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS SERVICE FOR VEHICLES THAT HAD IT COMPLETED. *TR
HAS MY GRANDMA WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON HERE AND WASN?T ABLE TO MOVE IT. LUCKILY SHE WAS AT THE LAST LANE AND ABLE TO GET ON THE EMERGENCY LANE AND NOT CAR HIT HERE. I DID RESEARCH ON THIS AND IT SAID THAT MANY OTHER YEAR MAKE AND MODELS HAD A RECALL. FOR SOME REASON THEY DIDN?T DO A RECALL ON ALL OF THEM JUST SOME DONE AT SOME PARTS OF THE STATE WHEN THEY ARE ALL MADE FOR THE SAME COMPANY. IF YOU CAN LET ME KNOW HOW OR WHY HER SUV AIN'T UNDER THE RECALL. IF SHE DIDN'T HAVE THAT BIT OF LUCK THAT DAY SHE COULD'VE BE INJURED VERY BAD AND INJURED OTHERS AS WELL FOR THE STEERING WHEEL JUST TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPEN IN SAN ANTONIO TX ON HIGHWAY 35. *TR
THE OTHER DAY MY GRANDMOTHER STREERING WHEEL LOCKED ON HER MERCURY AS SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH. THANK GOD SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITH OUT GETTING HIT. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND THEY HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM JUST NOT WITH THE VEHICLES JUST DEPENDS ON WHERE IT WAS MADE. WHICH I THING IS WRONG IF THEY HAVE MANY RECALLS IN THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL THEY SHOULD HAVE THEM ON ALL OF THEM..
IN MOTION ON A STREET A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING CAME ON, SHORTLY AFTER LOST POWER STEERING. INFORMED BY FORD IT WAS FIXED AFTER RECALL ON SEP 22ND 2014, AND IS NO LONGER VALID OR COVERED? SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING AGAIN AS THE FIRST RECALL
WHEN FILLING GAS TANK YESTERDAY ONCE FULL GAS LEAKED FROM UNDER THE WHEEL WELL ONTO THE TIRES. THE CAR WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION. I WAS ASKED TO MOVE THE CAR AWAY FROM THE PUMP BY THE GAS ATTENDANT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND I FELT LIKE I WAS IN LOW GEAR. THE POWER SURGED CAUSING THE CAR TO BUCK AND STALL, I WAS ON A CITY STREET
ON MY DASH IT'S SAYS "POWER ASSIST FAULT" I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THERE HAVE BEEN TONS OF THESE MERCURY'S RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE POWER ASSIST FAULT GOING OUT AND VEHICLES LOOSING CONTROL OF THERE VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE IS A FEW MONTHS SHY IF MEETING THE DATE IN WHICH THESE MERCURY'S WERE RECALLED. I THINK IT'S A HUGE SAFETY RISK. AND BEINGS IN A SINGLE MOTHER OF 2 LITTLE GIRLS I THINK MAYBE MY MERCURY SHOULD BE FIXED. MINE IS LEGIT MESSED UP. I CAN BARLEY TURN IT. THE POWER STEERING IS ALL JACKED AROUND AND ITS CAUSING OTHER ISSUES. SUCH AS NOT MY CAR NEEDS ALIGNED. I WANTED TO KNOW HOW COME MINE IS MESSED UP BUT BECAUSE OF JUST A FEW MONTHS MINE DOESN'T HAVE THE RECALL. PLEASE HELP ME KEEP MY KIDS SAFE. THANK YOU I'M LOCATED IN SCOTTSVILLE KY 42164
VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, TURNING ON HIGHWAY, THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES, SEEMS LIKE WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. RECALL 14S05C SHOWS UP IN SERVICE RECORDS FROM THIS CAR. WORKS WAS DONE MY MAHOPAC FORD, MAHOPAC, NY. REFLASH IC AND PSCM. THIS RECALL WAS APPARENTLY ADDRESSED, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS COME BACK. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR USED TWO WEEKS AGO. IT DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I TURNED THE HEAT ON. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.
TAKATA RECALL HAD JUST STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE CAR BEHIND ME RAN INTO ME. THE SPEED LIMIT ON THAT ROAD IS 60 MPH , BUT SURE HOW FAST HE WAS GOING WHEN HE HIT US. BUT, IMMEDIATELY AFTER IMPACT I NOTICED MY SEAT BELT WAS NO LONGER ON. IT HAD UNBUCKLED ON IMPACT.
MY BREAK PEDDLE GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR WHEN I COME TO A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. I'VE BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 4 SEPERATE OCCASIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY BREAKS. I RECENTLY BROUGHT TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED BUT I'M STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POSITION OF THE BREAK WHEN I COME TO A STOP. THERE ARE SEVERAL OWNERS ON LINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND GET BACK WITH ME?
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THERE WAS A RECALL I SEE BUT FOR SOME REASON MINE ISNT COVERED. ITS A 2010 AND JUST TURNED 70K MILES. I SEE THIS IS COMMON BUT CANT FIND A FIX ONLINE.
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN THE POURING RAIN GOING 45MP, MY HOOD FLEW OPEN, BUSTED MY WINDSHIELD, DAMAGED THE HOOD AND A FEW OTHER THINGS, I COULD NOT SEE WHERE I WAS GOING AS I WAS SCARED DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED I FINALLY PULLED OF THE ROAD AND SAT THERE CONFUSED, APPARENTLY THE SAFETY LATCH DID NOT CATCH , THIS SHOULD NEVER OF HAPPENED, SO GOING ON 3 WEEKS AND 2,500 IN DAMAGES AND NO VECHICLE LATER WE CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD OF HAPPENED.
I HAVE A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING. I DIDN'T GET IT TAKEN IN RIGHT AWAY, JUST TOOK IT IN DECEMBER 2018 FOR OIL CHANGE AND HAD DEALERSHIP TAKE CARE OF RECALL ALSO. THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE BUT THAT IS WHEN MY TROUBLE STARTED WITH THE POWER STEERING. STEERING WHEEL HAD A TWITCH, SHAKING BY ITSELF WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING AT IDLE. WHEN THE SHAKING GOT REAL BAD I TOOK IT TO DEALER MARCH 7 2019 TO BE FIXED UNDER RECALL FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST LOSS. THE RECALL STARTED JULY 25 2014 WITH NO END DATE OF RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX IT UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE FORD SAID IT HAD BEEN TO LONG AFTER THE RECALL. BASICALLY THEY WERE SAYING THE RECALL WAS OUTDATED. THEY TOLD ME I COULD HAVE IT FIXED FOR $800 OUT OF POCKET. A RECALL SHOULD NEVER BE OUTDATED BUT GO THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. EVERY VEHICLE IS DIFFERENT WHEN THE THE PART GOES BAD AFTER A RECALL HAPPENS. MINE WAS ALMOST 5 YEARS AFTER RECALL STARTED. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOUR POWER STEERING GOES OUT IF NOT FIXED AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TWITCHING. MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT 2 DAYS AFTER I HAD TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A REAL RECALL. APPARENTLY FORD HAS FAKE RECALLS. WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR VEHICLE IN THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT BECAUSE THEY SAY WHAT RECALL. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHEN I STOPPED TO GET GAS. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AFTER GETTING GAS IT WAS GONE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER MARCH 14 2019. I LET THEM KNOW WHAT MY ISSUE WAS. THEY DID THERE RESEARCH AND CALLED ME BACK MARCH 15 2019 ONLY TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE UPDATE THE DEALERSHIP DID IN DECEMBER 2018 WAS THE FIX. IT WAS ONE AND DONE. THEY WERE NOT DOING ANYTHING ELSE, THEY TOLD ME. SO THE UPDATE CANCELLED OUT THE REAL FIX OF CHANGING THE TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH 2 DAYS LATER LEFT ME WITHOUT POWER STEERING.
