VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN, COULD NOT STOP UNTIL SHE STRUCK THE TWO PARKED VEHICLES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLT FROM THE IDLER PULLEY FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
AFTER I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL BATTERY, I STARTED THE ENGINE. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 750 R.P.M. WHICH IS THE APPROXIMATE IDLE SPEED OF THE CAR. WHILE IN GEAR, I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACK DUE TO LACK OF POWER. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER IN CHANDLER, AZ. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER REPLACEMENT, THE CAR IS OPERATING NORMAL, ALTHOUGH IT HAS ONLY BEEN FOUR DAYS SINCE THE SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. I DO NOT TRUST IT ANYMORE. *TR
THE FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY FORTUNATELY OCCURRED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF A VACATION HOME IN CHANDLER, ARIZONA. I WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PART WAS REPLACED. I HATE TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF WE WERE IN A TRAFFIC SITUATION WHEN THE FAILURE TOOK PLACE. EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WILL STILL RUN AT AN IDLE, THE ACCELERATOR WILL NOT RESPOND ENOUGH TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. FORD NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE THE FAILURE OF THIS PART AS A LIFE THREATENING MATTER AND ISSUE A RECALL OF ALL MODELS AFFECTED. *TR
2008 MERCURY MILAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE DASHBOARD HAS WARPED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT PREVENTS THE AIR BAG FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. *SMD
TRANSMISSION ERVING OUT BETWEEN 45-55 MILES PER HOUR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO HIGHER GEAR. THIS WAS ALSO CAUSING IT TO IDLE ROUGH WHEN AT A STOPPED POSITION. LATELY IT WILL HIT AN AREA IN THE TRANSMISSION WHERE IT WILL WIND THE TRANSMISSION OUT TO 5500 RPM'S AND NOT SHIFT. *TR
MY 2008 MERCURY MILAN STALLS AND ACCELERATES RAPIDLY WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE TO PLACE MY FEET ON THE BRAKES AND GAS AT STOPS BECAUSE THE ENGINE INCREASES POWER AND THE CAR ACTUALLY JUMPS AT TIMES WITHOUT MY FOOT BEING ON THE PEDAL. THERE IS NO WARNING BEFORE THIS RAPID ACCELERATION AND I HAVE ACTUALLY ALMOST HIT OTHER CARS BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. MY VEHICLE STALLED A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AND I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS. 1. POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE 2. IGNITION COILS 3. SPARK PLUGS 4. THROTTLE BODY I CALLED FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS NOTHING THE COMPANY COULD DO TO ASSIST ME. *TR
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO THE STREET, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED, PUTTING THE CAR INTO A "SAFE MODE" WITH EXTREMELY LIMITED POWER. WAS ABLE TO USE REVERSE TO MOVE CAR BACK INTO PARKING LOT. I KNOW THAT THIS EXACT ISSUE (LOSS OF POWER DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE) HAS CAUSED A RECALL FOR SOME FORD AND MERCURY MODELS, INCLUDING THE MILAN, BUT IT DOES NOT YET INCLUDE MY CAR'S MODEL YEAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE ABS SYSTEM WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. VEHICLE WENT OVER A SLIGHT BUMP WHEN BRAKING AND THE ABS ENGAGED FOR A SECOND OR TWO. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND HAD TO BE PUMPED VERY HARD TO GET THE VEHICLE TO EVENTUALLY STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED VERY SOFT AND CLOSE TO THE FLOOR THEREAFTER. THE BRAKES WOULD WORK, BUT THE PEDAL WAS NOT NEARLY AS RESPONSIVE AS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE DEALER FOUND NO CODES TRIGGERED, REPLACED THE REAR CALIPERS, ADDED BRAKE FLUID AND BLED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE PEDAL WAS A LITTLE MORE NORMAL AND THE BRAKES WORKED. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER. THIS TIME THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A CODE TRIGGERED THAT SAID THE ABS CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $1,200, AND THE MASTER CYLINDER MAY ALSO HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $350. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH TO SEE IF OTHER OWNERS OF MILAN'S OR TAURUSES REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND EXPENSIVE SAFETY DEFECT WITH THESE VEHICLES. IS THERE ANY HOPE THE MANUFACTURER WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIRS? *TR
UPON PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE THROTTLE INCREASED ON ITS OWN REACHING NEARLY 6K RPMS, BY QUICKLY PLACING THE SHIFT LEVER IN NEUTRAL AND APPLYING THE BRAKE I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. RESTARTED THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL AS THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT, AFTER CHECKING FOR CODES 2110 WAS PRESENT, CYLINDER 3 HAD MISFIRED. DROVE THE CAR HOME IT WAS FINE. DROVE THE CAR FOR A WEEK WITH 2 MORE OF THE SAME INCIDENTS (INCREASED ACCELERATION WITH OUT PUSHING THE PEDAL) WHILE DRIVING. ON 10/14/13 WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT THE CAR INCREASED THE THROTTLE ON ITS OWN TO 6K RPMS AND UPON RELEASE OF THE BRAKE MY TIRES BROKE LOOSE AND BEGAN TO SQUEAL AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR BY SHIFTING IN TO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS SETTLED AT 600, I SHIFTED BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT HAS BEEN FINE FOR 2 DAYS. AFTER LITTLE RESEARCH IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE (GOOGLE SEARCH) THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY IS MALFUNCTIONING AT RANDOM MILEAGE RANGES AND WITHOUT WARNING IN BOTH THE MERCURY MILAN AND FORD FUSION. I AM HIGHLY CONCERNED THAT A REPLACEMENT PART WOULD NOT EVEN FIX THE VEHICLE. ITS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND PEOPLE NEED TO BE WARNED, MIGHT BE LIKE TOYOTA INCIDENT. *TR
NO MATTER IF COLD OR HOT, GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARD, ENGINE SURGES. BETTER HAVE FOOT ON BRAKE HARD TO KEEP FROM SURGING UNCONTROLLABLE. HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE. *TR
AFTER REPLACING MY CAR BATTERY, THE SERVICE LIGHT FOR THE THROTTLE BODY TRANSMISSION CAME ON. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE OFF THERE WAS NO ENGINE POWER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED STARTING ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND OVER TO THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WAS LOCATED WHERE THE CRACKS WAS, WHICH WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 27 WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY MILAN LOST ACCELERATION AND WOULD NOT KEEP CURRENT SPEED. I DRIFTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN IT TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. THE AC/RADIO/WINDOWS STILL WORKED BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK BACK UP. THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS SHAKING WHILE TRYING TO START IT BACK. AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AND HAD NO OTHER ISSUES UNTIL ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE BAD GASOLINE SO I DID PURCHASE A FUEL CLEANER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. THE PROBLEM CAME BACK ANOTHER 2 DAYS LATER WHERE IT WOULD LOSE ACCELERATION AND JUST DRIFT TO A STOP. SAME ISSUE OF HAVING TO WAIT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD START BACK UP AGAIN. THE CAR IS NOW COMPLETELY PARKED AT MY PARENTS HOUSE SINCE I CAN NOT TRUST WHEN THE CAR WILL WORK OR NOT WORK. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND CANNOT BE REAR ENDED BECAUSE THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING.
CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO RUNNING OUT OF GAS. I HAD ABOUT 1/4 TANK OF GAS BUT WENT TO FILL THE TANK IMMEDIATELY. IT STILL ACTED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT, I DROVE VEHICLE HOME AND LEFT IT PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. LATER THAT EVENING I WAS TELLING MY HUSBAND ABOUT THE CAR, HE WENT OUT TO TEST DRIVE IT. THE CAR ACTED COMPLETELY FINE. TODAY I WENT TO GO ON A 65 MILE TRIP AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY MORE THAN 1/2 WAY WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS. I WAITED TIL I WAS IN A SAFE AREA AND PULLED OVER THINKING THAT MAYBE I DIDN'T WARM THE CAR UP ENOUGH. I SAT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND PROCEEDED AHEAD TO MY DESTINATION BUT WAS PETRIFIED THAT I WAS GONNA STALL OUT CAUSE THAT'S HOW THE CAR WAS ACTING. AS SOON AS I ARRIVED I CALLED FORD AND TOLD THEM AND THEY WANTED ME TO WAIT A FEW DAYS FOR AN AVAILABLE APPT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE MADE US AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A TBS. THE PCM IS BAD AND COILS ARE MELTED. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THERE WAS EVER A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE I'VE READ SO MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. *TR
I LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AT A NORMAL RATE LEAVING ME AT RISK IN INTERSECTIONS AND AT RISK OF BEING REARENDED. NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED BUT ONE COULD HAVE. *TR
THE FOLLOWING CHECK ENGINE CODES APPEARED: P2104, P2112. THE THROTTLE BODY HAS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT HE ERRONEOUSLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BECAUSE IT WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS FOOT WOULD ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, IF HE FOOT WAS NOT COMPLETELY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SURGE. BOTH INCIDENTS, RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT.
MY CAR WAS SITTING FOR A MONTH IN MY DRIVEWAY. I JUST GOT BACK FROM VACATION. NEXT DAY I WAS GOING TO WORK, MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS NOT SURE IF IT WAS SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE TO WORK. RIGHT AWAY I CALLED MY GARAGE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD BRING IT IN TO GET IT INSPECTED. UPON INSPECTION THEY REALIZED THAT THE SENSOR UNDER MY PASSENGERS SEAT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THEY GAVE ME THE EXACT NAME OF THE PROBLEM. ITS A B2290 OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM STATUS, FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT DRIVES THAT CAR AND RARELY DOES SOMEBODY SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I M NOT THE FIRST ONE TO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. MY GARAGE FIXED THE PROBLEM. BUT I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE POSTED ON THE RECALLS FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD CONCERN. *TR
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES SNAP IN HALF EASILY AND CAUSE THE DOOR TO NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN THE FIRST DOOR HANDLE BROKE (FRONT, DRIVER SIDE) IT TOOK ME ABOUT A MINUTE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND HOW TO GET OUT OF MY CAR. IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION IT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM. AFTER THE SECOND HANDLE BROKE (FRONT, PASSENGER SIDE) I DISCOVERED THAT PULLING BACK ON THE LOCK MECHANISM WILL OPEN THE DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS BECAUSE THIS, ACCORDING TO THEM, IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THE MILAN AND THE FORD FUSION. THANKFULLY, I WAS JUST GETTING OUT OF MY CAR TO GO TO WORK, BUT HAD I BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT I COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY DIED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY DOOR HANDLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON A WET ROAD AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE SLID IN THE ROAD UNTIL IT CAME TO A REST. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE A SECOND TIME. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,600.
05/16/12 I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MILES/PER HOUR, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT ANY SIGNS IN ADVANCE, I COULDN'T STOP THE CAR. LUCKILY IT WAS WHERE I WORKED. I PULLED TO THE PARKING,STOPPED IT WITH THE HELP OF THE CURB. CHECKED ON THE SPOT, IT SEEMS LOW ON BRAKE FLUID, WE ADDED FLUID, PEDAL SEEMED FINE FOR COUPLE OF MONTHS. ON 07/31/12, TWO MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 50, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. COULDN'T STOP THE CAR, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY THERE IS A GARAGE BY THE SIDE, PULLED IN AND CHECKED. FINDING OUT THE MASS CYLINDER DISFUNCTION. SPEND OVER 600 GOT IT CHANGED. NOW I AM SCARED, DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO? SELL THE CAR? ( WHICH I CANT AFFORD NOW) OR WAITING TO BE KILLED IN THE CAR OR KILL SOMEBODY ELSE? *TR
IN APRIL OF 2012 THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TAIL LIGHTS BLEW OUT. THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER MY LEASE EXPIRED AND I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I ALSO BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. SINCE MY LEASE WAS UP, THIS WAS NOT COVERED, AND MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 30,000 MILES. I WROTE SEVERAL LETTERS AND LODGED COMPLAINTS WITH MY DEALERSHIP AND WITH FORD. FINALLY IN MAY OF 2012, THEY DECIDED TO FIX IT, FREE OF CHARGE. YESTERDAY, MAY 12TH, 2015, THE REAR DRIVERS TURN SIGNAL BLEW OUT. THESE REPAIRS ARE OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED, AS THEY ARE LED. THEY SHOULD LAST FOR 10 TO 20 YRS, BUT NOW I HAVE 2 REAR DRIVERS SIDE LIGHTING SYSTEMS THAT HAVE FAILED WITHIN 3 YRS. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND VERY DANGEROUS. I PLAN ON CONTACTING MY DEALERSHIP AND FORD TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE.
UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION ISSUE. COULD NOT GET CAR TO STOP WITH BRAKES, E BRAKE, SHUT OFF NEUTRAL SHIFT. REACHED SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 80 MPH. FINALLY CAR SLOWED DOWN, SMOKE COMING FROM VENTS. TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER NO RESPONSE YET. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING AND AT LESS THEN 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED AND ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED, JUMPING A CURB. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN SKIDDED SEVERAL FEET BEFORE THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE BROKEN ON INSIDE OF VEHICLE. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN MODELS FROM 2006 ON. PLASTIC HANDLE BREAKS AND YOU CANNOT EXIT THE DRIVER'S DOOR UNLESS THE DOOR IS OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE OR THROUGH ANOTHER DOOR. IN THE EVENT OF AND ACCIDENT THE DRIVER COULD BECOME TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE.

THE FIRST TIME I LOST THE BRAKES I WAS GOING THROUGH A ROUNDABOUT WHEN I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING A CAR THAT PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. AS I DEPLOYED THE BRAKES, I HIT A POTHOLE WHICH CAUSED THE ABS TO ACTIVATE. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO QUICKLY CHANGE LANES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IT TOOK SEVERAL HOURS FOR BRAKES TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE SECOND TIME, I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES WHEN TRAFFIC CAME TO AN IMMEDIATE HALT. I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP, BUT AGAIN WHEN THE ANTILOCK BRAKES WERE ACTIVATED, I LOST PEDAL AND HAD TO GO INTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID REAR-ENDING THE CAR IN FROM OF ME. AGAIN, SEVERAL HOURS LATER THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL. I WAS ABLE TO CREATE A SIMILAR SCENARIO TO SHOW MY HUSBAND JUST BY SLAMMING ON MY BRAKES AT THE END OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE SAND LAID ON THE ASPHALT. HE BLED THE BRAKES AND THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO BE RESOLVED, BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS NOT. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT. SHE LOST PEDAL AFTER ANTILOCK BRAKES WERE ACTIVATED AND, BEING A NEW DRIVER, CLIPPED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT AND WE WERE ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ACCIDENT WITHOUT INVOLVING AUTHORITIES. AFTER THIS I HAVE NOT ALLOWED HER TO DRIVE THE CAR AND IT SITS IN THE GARAGE AS WE DEBATE FIXING THE COSMETIC DAMAGE DUE TO THE BRAKE PROBLEMS. I BROUGHT MY 2008 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER (PURCHASED 7-30-10) AS A CPO VEHICLE, 6,900 MILES, TO METROPOLITAN LINCOLN MERCURY, GARDEN CITY, MI (734-458-1961). I REPORTED THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOUNT WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE FIXED (THEY REFUSED, SAYING IT IS NORMAL), THERE IS EXCESSIVE TRAVELING DISTANCE WHEN BRAKING (THEY SAID THE BRAKES WERE "FINE"), THERE IS EXCESSIVE EXHAUST NOISE (A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE FIX IS COMING), AND THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY (STAYS IN ONE GEAR TOO LONG/ALSO A KNOWN PROBLEM). FOR KNOWN PROBLEMS, EITHER I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT (THE TRANSMISSION) OR THEY DON'T KNOW AND DON'T CARE ABOUT THE OTHER KNOWN PROBLEM (A RESONATOR FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM TO REDUCE EXCESSIVE NOISE). I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SEAT BRACKETS RUSTING OUT BEING NORMAL. I FEEL IF LEFT UNCHECKED, IT MAY BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. SUDDENLY, 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING A 2008 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER FROM A LINCOLN MERCURY DEALERSHIP, I NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RUST IN THE SEAT BRACKETS AND POWER SEAT HARDWARE ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE CAR HAD 6,900 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT AS A CPO VEHICLE. I ALSO BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY OCTOBER 11, 2010 AND THEY SAID THE RUST WAS NORMAL (I DISAGREE). THE RUST IS NOW SEEPING INTO THE CARPET AS WELL. YESTERDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2010, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOR AN OPINION. HE CONCURS THAT IT IS NOT NORMAL AND POSSIBLY A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE WHILE IN OHIO AND ALSO PURCHASED A WARRANTY (LIFETIME) ON ALL THE OTHER MICHELIN TIRES. BETWEEN THEN AND NOW, I HAVE HAD NO LESS THEN 15 TO 20 INCIDENTS WHERE THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. I DISCOVERED A BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE AND HAD TO THROW THE TIRE AWAY WITH ONLY 8700 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED MICHELIN AND INQUIRED ABOUT THESE "50" SERIES SIDEWALL CONFIGURATION TIRES HAVING THIS PROBLEM AS TOLD TO ME BY MY TIRE DEALER. THEY AGREED WITH THEIR DEALER THAT THESE TIRES CAN'T TAKE POTHOLES AND WOULD BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL AND COULD BLOWOUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS!! TAKATA RECALL I ASKED FOR CHANGE AIRBAG FROM VISTA FORD AND CALPAIN LINCOLN, BUT THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE PART. MY CAR HAS ONLY 35,000 MIL . NOW ALMOST TEN YEARS PASS AND I WONDER WHEN THEY WANT THE AIRBAG .
