TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BECAME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKE PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR, SO THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE VEHICLE WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT. THE DEALER (FLAMMER FORD OF SPRING HILL, 3335 COMMERCIAL WAY, SPRING HILL, FL 34606, (352) 686-8255) WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT, A MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILED TO FUNCTION AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED TWO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE BRAKES, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL ISSUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE16017 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN VEHICLE ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT VEHICLE WITHOUT CRAWLING OVER CONSOLE AND EXITING FROM PASSENGER SEAT OR OPENING WINDOW TO ACCESS EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. AS THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND'S FORD FUSION 2010 HYBRID (WHICH COST OVER $200 TO REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP), I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURE/DESIGN/INTEGRITY OF PARTS IN THESE VEHICLES. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FORD/MERCURY FORUMS CITING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MECHANIC RE-CALIBRATED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT IT DID NOT REMEDY THE STALLING FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO DEALER OR CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SOFT PEDAL RELATED TO THE ABS HYDRAULICS UNIT. FORD AND EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MANY YEARS. SOMETIMES BRAKES GO OUT COMPLETELY THEN GO BACK TO NORMAL. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ALREADY. COME INVESTIGATE OUR CAR AND YOU WILL FIND YOU EVIDENCE PROVING THE SOFT PEDAL IS RELATED TO FORDS ABS NEGLIGENCE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR STOPPED LOCKING, NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR STOPPED LOCKING THIS MORNING WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE MECHANIC. ALSO THE DOOR HANDLE INSIDE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS NOW FAILED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BOAT BUT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A PARKED SHERIFF'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND FRACTURED TEETH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE 1ST FAILURE WAS ,AFTER LEAVING A GAS STATION, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. I BARELY MISSED THE CAR IN FRONT.AFTER 4 MONTHS,THE SAME THING OCCURRED AFTER LEAVING A HIGHWAY AT A LIGHT. OK AGAIN FOR A FEW MONTHS,THERE WAS A 3RD INCIDENT, BUT I CAN T REMEMBER THE DETAILS.I HIT A SMALL POT HOLE AND THE ABS CAME ON. I LOST MY PEDAL AGAIN.WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF, THE SYSTEM RESET AND IT WAS FINE. NOW WHENEVER THE ABS IS USED, I LOSE MY PEDAL WITHOUT WARNING. IT NO LONGER RESETS. MY MECHANIC HAS TO BLEED THE SYSTEM TO GET MY PEDAL BACK. IM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR IN BAD WEATHER. I HAVE HAD 6 OR 7 BRAKE FAILURES IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS. *TR

THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD ERRONEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AFTER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED REPEATEDLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKE MALFUNCTION RECURRED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.

2009 MERCURY MILAN. CONSUMER STATES FRONT SUSPENSION FAILURE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS THE UPPER SUSPENSION ARMS ON THE VEHICLE. RIGHT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, BOTH UPPER CONTROL ARMS HAD TO BE REPLACED, BEFORE ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS COULD BE ADDRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR UNRELATED PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT WINDSHIELD WIPERS, TRANSMISSION FLUID AND NEW TIRES WERE NEEDED. SHORTLY AFTER THE VISIT TO THE DEALER, THE CONSUMER PURCHASED NEW TIRES FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THE LEFT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM WAS HANGING BY A LOOSE NUT AND SEVERAL THREADS ON THE UPPER ARM'S BOLT. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THERE WAS NO SAFETY DEVICE THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE RETAINING NUT FROM COMING LOOSE. *JB
FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE IN JULY OF 2010. IN JULY OF 2010, I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO CHECK THE CALIPERS AS THE REAR PADS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WERE SEVERELY WORN AND THE PADS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WERE FINE. DEALER INDICATED THE CALIPERS WERE FINE, BUT HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR THE UNEVEN WEAR. I ALSO CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY AND THEY DID NOT HAVE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE PADS WOULD WEAR SO UNEVENLY. BACK BRAKES BEGAN PULSATING AGAIN AT 44,000 (ONLY 20,000 ON PADS). I AGAIN REPLACED THE PADS AND ROTORS AS THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS COMPLETELY WORN AND DRIVER'S SIDE WAS LESS THAN WORN. DROVE 15 MILES AND BRAKES ON PASSENGER SIDE WERE SMOKING. TOWED CAR ON A FLATBED TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SAID PASSENGER SIDE CALIPER WASN'T WORKING.THE ROTOR WAS WARPED FROM THE HEAT, THE BRAND NEW PADS WERE SCORCHED AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED IT WAS A GOOD THING THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE GARAGE AS IT WAS A GOOD CHANCE THE AREA WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. HE REPLACED THE CALIPERS ON BOTH SIDES, THE BRAKE PADS AND TURNED THE ROTOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE PADS AND ROTORS ONLY HAD 15 MILES ON THEM. THE VEHICLE IS ON IT'S 3RD (4TH IF YOU COUNT THE PADS WITH 15 MILES ON THEM) SET OF PADS AND ROTORS AND THE SECOND SET OF CALIPERS. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A CAR WITH 46,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, CROSSED OVER THE HIGHWAY AND CRASHED INTO A POST. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND PENDING AN INVESTIGATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 12,000.

THIS IS DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. PARTS AFFECTED: THROTTLE BODY 500 AND BATTERY. REPAIR COST: $698.78 APRIL 19, 2014, 2009 MERCURY MILAN STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START WHILE MY WIFE WAS OUT SHOPPING. JUMPED VEHICLE AND IT STARTED BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE; AGAIN VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO 101 HWY 41, EAST, COURTESY FORD LINCOLN MERCURY, ROME GA 30161-6698. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH AND CRASHED HEAD-ON INTO A UTILITY POLE, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2009 MERCURY MILAN CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE TURNED OFF, THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE UPPER PART OF THE ENGINE MELTING PLASTIC AND DRIPPING DOWN ON SOME FUEL LINES. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT THIS AS THE CAR WAS STILL COVERED UNDER FULL WARRANTY. THEY WILL NOT EVEN INSPECT THE CAR AS I HAVE REQUESTED OR PAY FOR ANY DAMAGES TO MY PROPERTY OR EVEN REPLACE THE CAR THAT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A SET OF BUSHES AS A RESULT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NO PERSONAL INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER AND REPAIRED FOR THE BODY DAMAGES. THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL BEGAN TO PULSATE. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR WHENEVER SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES. SHE EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE EXCESSIVELY AND UNEVENLY WORN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY WIFE AND I HAD RETURNED TO THE CAR AFTER SHOPPING. I STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE TO THE FIRST STOP SIGN. WE WERE ON CITY STREETS IN THE TOWN OF NASHVILLE INDIANA. THE CAR WAS NORMAL. I WENT TO THE NEXT STOP SIGN AND THE CAR ALSO ACTED NORMAL. AS I APPROACHED THE THIRD STOP SIGN AND WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING. THE LOUD ENGINE NOISE WAS ALSO NOTICED BY MY WIFE. I SAID SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR, THE ENGINE IS RACING ALL BY ITSELF WHILE I AM TRYING TO BRAKE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO MOVE SO I HAD TO PUT EXTREME PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL I LOOKED AT THE ENGINE RPM TO SEE WHAT WAS TAKING PLACE AND THE READING WAS CLOSE TO 3000 RPM. I HELD MY FOOT VERY FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND TOOK THE TRANSMISSION OUT OF GEAR AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I SAT AT THE STOP SIGN FOR A FEW MOMENTS BECAUSE OF THE STRANGE NATURE OF THE SITUATION AND I WASNT SURE WHAT TO EXPECT. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND I RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING ACTED NORMAL. A SIMILAR SEQUENCE OF EVENTS OCCURRED PERIODICALLY OVER THE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP UP TO THE CURRENT DATE. THE CAR THROTTLE ALSO HAS GONE INTO A MODE WHERE IT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL, WHILE DRIVING IT . IT HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED AND IT RESPONDED PROPERLY. NO DATE OR MILEAGE TO REFERENCE. THIS WEEKEND I STARTED THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE AND THE "WRENCH" PROBLEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN THE DASH PANEL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED MAY 2015 DO TO MONTHS, NOT MILAGE. I AM NOW REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A NEW ETB UNIT AND INSTALLATION. I OWN A 2009 MERCURY MILAN. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER ON FEBRUARY 4 2010. THE COMPLAINT WAS THAT I WAS HEARING A NOISE UPON BRAKING IN FORWARD OR REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY FOUND THE NOISE. THE BRAKE PADS IN THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER WERE SLIDING BACK AND FORTH IN THE BRACKET. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING BUT , IT IS OK TO TAKE THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT THIS WAY. I ASKED WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS. THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND HAD TO NOTIFY FORD TO FIND OUT. THIS HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK AGO. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER BACK SEVERAL TIMES. THEY ASSURED ME THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME BY THE END OF THE DAY. THAT STILL HAS NOT HAPPENED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO ABRUPTLY APPLY THE BRAKES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
THE ANGLE OF THE HEADREST ARE SO EXTREME THAT THERE IS ALWAYS TERRIBLE PRESSURE ON MY NECK. THE HEADREST IS ALSO SO LARGE THAT IT BLOCKS MY VIEW WHEN LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER FOR TRAFFIC. I'M AFRAID THAT I WILL MISS A CAR BECAUSE IT IS BLOCKED OUT BY THE HEADREST. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! I'VE ALREADY HAD TO SWERVE UNEXPECTEDLY ON 2 OCCASIONS BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE A VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1000.
