I WAS IN CINCINNATI THAT WEEKEND (3 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME) AND AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A STORE, THE CAR JERKED VERY HARD AND THEN THE WRENCH SHOWED UP ON THE DASH AND I LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING SPACE. I THEN SHUT OFF THE CAR AND WAITED A BIT AND RESTARTED IT. THE WRENCH CAME OFF THE DASH AND THE CAR WAS WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN. WE THEN WENT ABOUT OUR DAY AND AS WE WERE HEADING BACK TO MY NEPHEWS FOOTBALL GAME, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND I HAD JUST PASSED A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR JERKED ABRUPTLY AGAIN AND I LOST ALL POWER. I PUT MY TURN SIGNAL ON AND WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF A SIDE ROAD. THE WRENCH CAME ON AGAIN. IT HAPPEN THE NEXT DAY AS WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE BACK HOME. WE TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR BACK HOME IN MANUAL AND IT WORKED JUST FINE. I GOT OUR CAR INTO OUR LOCAL CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED REPLACED. SO AFTER FORKING OUT $375, IT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING SINCE. THE REASON I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT IF THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD'VE ACTED UP WHILE WE WERE TRAVELING THROUGH THE HILLY ROADS IN CINCINNATI, WE WOULD'VE BEEN IN A SEVERE CAR ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM IS A HUGE CONCERN AS YOU LOSE ALL CONTROL OF THE CAR. YOU HAVE NO GAS AND THE RPM'S JUST QUIVER ON THE DASH. IF I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE WOULD'VE BEEN HURT DUE TO A CAR CRASH. THIS CONCERN NEEDS TO BE SENT TO FORD/MERCURY AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM ONCE I RESEARCHED IT. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE WE WERE TRAVELING 70 MPH ON I-75 IN OHIO ON OUR WAY BACK. THE PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE ISSUED AS A RECALL. IT IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT OR KILLED. *LN
FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS PULL OUT INTO A 4 LANE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST SHOOK AND HAD NO POWER. 2ND TIME I WAS GOING 70 ON HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. ALMOST HAD SEMI IN REAR END. 3RD TIME I WAS ON SIDE STREET AT 4 WAY STOP. CAR LOST ALL POWER AFTER GOING. ALL TIMES THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT. HAD 2 MECHANICS LOOK AT IT AND SAID BAD THROTTLE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE PART NOT COVER ANY LONGER. SEEN ALL COMPLAINTS ON IT. SHOULD BE RECALLED DANGEROUS. *LN *TR
STOP AT RED LIGHT AND THE CAR REFUSE TO ACCELERATE. HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN CAR IS CUT OFF AND TURN BACK ON IT WILL RUN FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND DOES THE SAME THING AGAIN. KIDS IN THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, HAD IT LESS THAN 2 WKS. NOW THIS IS HAPPENING, COST OVER 600.00 DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT IS MANUFACTURED SCREW UP. I NEED MY CAR TO GET KIDS TO SCHOOL AND WORK. ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM NEEDS A RECALL VERY QUICK BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE WITH A REDUCTION IN ENGINE RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON TWO SEPARATE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE BRAKE LIGHT FAILED. THE CONTACT FOUND OUT THE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS WERE FAULTY BY BEING STOPPED BY A SHERIFF. A REPAIR SHOP INFORMED HER, THE COMPUTER CHIP IN THE TAIL LIGHTS WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000. TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH WHEN MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN BEGAN LOSING SPEED, IN SPITE OF PRESSING ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR. GOT THE CAR TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND TURNED IT OFF. WAITED APPROXIMATELY THREE MINUTES AND RESTARTED ENGINE AND ALL WAS WELL AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED EACH DAY FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS--NEARLY KILLING ME ON SATURDAY. COULD NOT GET IT IN ANYWHERE FOR DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE OF THE WEEKEND. DID INTERNET SEARCH AND FIND THIS SITE, WHICH HAS MORE THAN 250 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!! I EVEN CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE A FUEL FILTER. C'MON FORD, YOU KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, HERE. I AM GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, MONDAY, AND WILL INSIST ON THIS PROBLEM BEING FIXED WITHOUT ANY COST TO ME. I URGE EVERYONE TO CALL FORD AT 800-392-3673. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT. THERE IS NO WARNING BEFORE THE CAR LOSES ALL ACCELERATION.
VEHICLE IS RANDOMLY STALLING OUT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. IT STARTS VIBRATING AND MAKING CLUNKING NOISE. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHETHER SITTING AT A LIGHT TAKING OFF OR DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS CAR IS LITERALLY FALLING APART AND I HAVEN'T EVEN OWNED IT A YEAR. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER MERCURY. *TR
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHICH OCCURRED AT VARIABLE SPEEDS (25 MPH, 40 MPH, 60 MPH) WITH RAPIDLY INCREASING FREQUENCY IN THE WEEK BEFORE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE SEEMED TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO INCREASE IN RPM IN RESPONSE TO THE ACCELERATOR. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD WITH VERY LOW RPM, THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED EACH TIME WITHOUT PROBLEM. *TR
JUST AFTER MOVING FROM A STOP AT A RED LIGHT, WHILE ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. AS I DRIFTED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE "WRENCH" ICON ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATES THROTTLE BODY ISSUES, AMONG OTHER POSSIBLE THINGS. I HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO MOVE UNDER ANY POWER, AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. I RE-STARTED IT AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY. THE ICON WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THIS HAS SINCE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL INSTANCE. THERE WAS NEVER ANY INDICATION OF PERFORMANCE ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS FIRST INSTANCE. IN RESEARCHING THE OCCURRENCE I BECAME AWARE OF THE FACT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODIES ON SEVERAL FORD PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED AROUND THE SAME TIME AS MY MERCURY, AND THAT THERE IS APPARENTLY AN INVESTIGATION ALREADY IN PROGRESS. *TR
2010 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER (LED TAIL LIGHTS) WITH HEADLIGHTS ON THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT REMAINS ON ALL THE TIME AND DOES NOT RESPOND WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS OUT , NO RPM'S, OVER $400 IN REPAIRS TO AN ITEM THAT SHOULD LAST A LIFETIME IN A VEHICLE, I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN'S. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF VEHICLE STALLS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. *TR
7I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH AROUND 20,000 MILES ON IT AND EXPERIENCED JERKING, ROUGH IDLING, AND A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHEN DRIVING. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THEY WERE RESETTING SOMETHING THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER IN THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THE CAR STALLING, I GOOGLED ANY ISSUES WITH MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND CAME UPON A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. I MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A COMMON ISSUE, NOR WAS IT THE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. LAST WEEK, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED WHILE GOING 75MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE SEMI THAT WAS BEHIND ME AS MY CAR'S SPEED SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, DROPPED BY OVER 15MPH. I MADE MY WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND SLOWLY COASTED UP AN OFF RAMP TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY (AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER). EVEN IF YOU PRESS THE GAS, NOTHING HAPPENS. YOU DO NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. I DROVE MAYBE 5 MINUTES AND IT STALLED AGAIN. I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES ON THE 7 MILE DRIVE TO WORK THAT DAY AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY OTHER CARS JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME. I CALLED MY PERSONAL MECHANIC AND HAD IT TOWED TO HIM INSTEAD OF THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A DIFFERENT ISSUE THAN MY PREVIOUS 3 VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD WOULD NOT BE COVERING IT UNDER MY WARRANTY. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND MY CAR RUNS PERFECTLY NOW. HE SAID WHEN HE CALLED AROUND TO GET A PART HE HAD A HORRIBLE TIME EVEN FINDING ONE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER DUE TO THIS BEING SUCH A HUGE ISSUE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. I'VE BEEN TELLING THE DEALERSHIP FOR 25,000 MILES AND ALMOST 2 YEARS THIS WAS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND NOW ITS SUDDENLY NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. *JS
WHEN LEAVING A RED-LIGHT THE THROTTLE (GAS PEDAL) DID NOT WORK. I HAD TO COAST TO OFF THE ROAD. TURN OFF THE CAR AND RE-START. AT THAT TIME THE GAS PEDAL WORKED. *TR
DRIVING ALONG, ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR SLOWED, MY GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE (WOULD NOT ACCELERATE), THE RPM'S WOULD NOT EVEN GO TO 1000, WOULD STAY BELOW THAT. WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, THE MOTOR BEGAN TO SHAKE. AS SOON AS THE CAR LOST SPEED THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING, THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS GONE AND CAR RAN FINE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME 3 DAYS IN A ROW AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, DIFFERENT MILES IN BETWEEN OCCURRENCES. TOOK THE CAR TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC ( AFTER SECOND OCCURRENCE), THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. AFTER THE THIRD OCCURRENCE I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS RIGHT AWAY AND FIXED IT IN LESS THAN AN HOUR AND PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME $171.00 FOR THE THROTTLE BODY AND $330.00 IN LABOR FOR AN HOUR OF WORK. PLEASE KEEP INVESTIGATING AS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY TWICE AND WAS FORTUNATE TO GET INTO A MIDDLE TURN LANE BEFORE BEING REAR ENDED. IT WAS A CLOSE CALL AND VERY SCARY AS I WAS POWERLESS TO DO ANYTHING BUT STOP THE CAR ON A VERY BUSY ROAD AND PRAY TO NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT. IT IS UNFAIR THAT I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $600 TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE.
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP AND THE WRENCH SHOWED ON THE DASHBOARD. WAITED A SHORT WHILE, RESTARTED AND IT WAS OKAY. DID NOTICE SOME LURCHING AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR, PRIOR TO THE SECOND INCIDENT ON 10/07/20. DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT 30 MPH, WRENCH SHOWED ON DASHBOARD AND CAR SLOWED TO A CRAWL. I HAD TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE BUSY INTERSECTION AND OFF RAMP FROM A HIGHWAY IN ORDER TO SAFELY GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED BOTH TIMES, TO SAY NOTHING ABOUT THE FEAR OF YOUR CAR JUST CONKING OUT IN THE DARK AT 5:30AM. THE 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED MAY 27, 2013... AND MY CURRENT MILEAGE IS 35,581 MILES!!!!!!!!!! 111 DAYS OVER THE MONTHS AND 419 MILES UNDER THE WARRANTY.... SO, I AM PAYING AROUND $300+ TO HAVE THIS FIXED. WITH ALL THE EXACT COMPLAINTS AS HAPPENED TO OTHERS, I AM SURPRISED FORD DID NOT SEND A NOTICE TO OWNERS TO GET IT FIXED OR FACE THE POTENTIAL OF BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH... THANK YOU. *TR
AT DUSK ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER14,2013 TRAVELING NORTH BOUND ON 6 LANE INTERSTATE I-55 IN FAR LEFT LANE AT 67 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW RPM RETURNED TO IDLING SPEED UNDER 800 RPM AND WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATOR PRESSURE. THE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO MOVE ACROSS LANES AND REACH THE SHOULDER BEFORE CAR HAD SLOWED TO 5 MPH. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. SHUT OFF THE CAR RESTARTED IT AND ACCELERATOR WAS RESPONSIVE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE BACK ON TO HIGHWAY AND AGAIN LOST POWER. SHUT OFF CAR AGAIN AND ACCELERATING VERY SLOWLY WAS ABLE TO REACH AN EXIT ABOUT 1 MILE AWAY BEFORE CAR AGAIN LOST POWER. CALLED FOR A TOW BACK HOME AS VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE. CAR TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP SEPTEMBER 16TH FOR REPAIR AND THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I LEARNED ON LINE THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN FORD AND MERCURY PRODUCTS BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL TO FIX THIS DEFECTIVE PART WHICH PUTS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER IN GRAVE DANGER WHEN THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONS .LUCKILY I WAS IN A FAIRLY POPULATED AREA AND CELL PHONE SERVICE WAS AVAILABLE. I FEAR WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF TRAFFIC HAD BEEN EVEN HEAVIER OR BEEN IN A MORE REMOTE AREA. THESE PRODUCTS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THEY PRESENT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOR DRIVERS. *TR
WHILE LEAVING WORK, VEHICLE RPM'S DROPPED AND CAR SURGED AND NEARLY STALLED OUT, PUSHING ACCELERATOR MADE NO INCREASE IN POWER THEN "WRENCH" LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH CLUSTER, PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD WITH BRAKES APPLIED, AND PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL, RPM'S LOW AND FLUCTUATING. SHUT ENGINE OFF. STARTED ENGINE, NO SIGN OF "WRENCH" LIGHT, CAR MADE TRIP HOME, BUT RPM'S FLUCTUATED AT STOPS, ENGINE SURGING. PERFORMED INTERNET SEARCH, FOUND NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : PE13003 WHICH CONTAINS VERY SIMILAR ISSUES FOR OTHER OWNERS OF 2010 MERCURY MILAN. DRIVING 2 WEEKS AGO, GOING 45 MPH AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING. ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND I COULD STILL SAFELY PULL IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WORKED AGAIN. SINCE THERE WERE MANY AREAS OF NON-SAFE ROADS TO PULL OVER, I DECIDED TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. IT HAS DRIVEN FINE EVER SINCE, UNTIL TODAY, GOING 55MPH, ON THE INTERSTATE, ACCELERATOR STOPS WORKING. I SAFELY PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED ENGINE. I SAFELY DROVE TO MY NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAY IT IS THE THROTTLE SENSOR. WHY IS THIS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL YET AS I READ THESE MANY, MANY PAGES OF POSTS ON THE SAME THING? I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER FOR THE PART AS IT IS ON BACKORDER. NO SAFE CAR TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN. *TR
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE STALLS OUT WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN ATTEMPTING RESTART ENGINE LIGHT AND "ORANGE WRENCH" LIGHT TURN ON. VEHICLE DOES EVENTUALLY RESTART. *TR
DRIVER WAS PROCEEDING ON I-290 IN LEFT LANE AT SPEED OF 60MPH WITH MODERATE TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AND BUCKING WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A DRASTIC REDUCTION OF SPEED NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENT FROM BEHIND SINCE THE SPEED REDUCTION WAS WITHOUT WARNING. THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO DECELERATE AND CREATED A SITUATION WHERE DRIVER COULD NOT CHANGE LANES TO RIGHT AND WAS FORCED TO MOVE TO LEFT SHOULDER. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED AND SHUT OFF BEFORE CAR STOPPED. AFTER 30 MINUTES, VEHICLE STARTED AND OPERATION RESUMED. SERVICE DEPARTMENT DENIED ANY PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. 3 WEEKS LATER, WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH ON NY RTE 33, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE ENGINE COULD BE RESTARTED BUT ONLY OPERATED WITH VERY ROUGH CONDITION. THIS VEHICLE IS UNFIT AND UNSAFE TO BE OPERATED ON A PUBLIC HIGHWAY. *TR
CAR SUDDENLY STALLED IN INTERSECTION WITH CROSS LANE TRAFFIC AND ON MASS TRANSIT TROLLEY TRACK. MOVE TO OTHER SIDE OF INTERSECTION AND RESTARTED FINE, THEN STALLED AGAIN ON HIGHWAY MULTIPLE TIMES. I'VE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES OF MY VEHICLE STALLING WHILE IN MOTION AT VARIOUS SPEEDS (30-65 MPH). AT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE & THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. IT IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION & CANNOT GET IT REPAIRED. DESPITE THE LOW MILEAGE, I AM BEING TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. THIS ISSUE IS NOT DUE TO WEAR & TEAR BUT TO A MANUFACTURER'S MECHANICAL FAILURE. WHY IS THE CONSUMER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS TO A PREEXISTING PROBLEM IN THESE CARS?
ON 12 SEPTEMBER I WENT TO TAKE OFF FROM A LIGHT AND THE CAR HAD NO ACCELERATION, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON IN CONTROL PANEL...I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER ON OTHER SIDE OF INTERSECTION AND PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON IT STARTED FINE AND THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. IT WAS ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER ON 27 SEPTEMBER WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A 2-LANE ROAD GOING ABOUT 45 MPH AND THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THERE WAS NOT MUCH OF A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON BUT FOUND A SPOT AND PLACED CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I SMELLED A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL SO WAITED LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN LAST TIME AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. IT STARTED UP AND THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON AND IT DROVE FINE. I TOOK TO A MECHANIC ON SATURDAY MORNING AND TOLD ME THE DIAGNOSTIC COULD NOT PRODUCE A CODE BECAUSE THE INCIDENT COULD NOT BE REPLICATED BUT BELIEVED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND NEEDED A REPLACEMENT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE NORTHWAY PREPARING TO GET IN THE RIGHT LANE TO EXIT AND I LOST ALL SPEED, NO ACCELERATION WAS POSSIBLE BUT I STILL HAD RADIO/A/C, ETC. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER AND STOP THE CAR AND WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK IT "SPUTTERED" UNTIL I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF ENTIRELY. I WAITED A FEW MOMENTS AND TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND IT STARTED FINE AND THEN DROVE FINE THE REST OF MY DRIVE. WHEN I GOT BACK TO WORK I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND WAS SURPRISED AT THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. EVERYONE HAD TAKEN THEIR CAR TO A DEALERSHIP OR MECHANIC AND COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH. FINALLY AFTER READING SO MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ONE CAR OWNER STATED THAT A DIAGNOSIS RESULTED IN CODE P2111 (FAULTY THROTTLE BODY). I'M CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR AND HAVING IT HAPPEN AGAIN. I DRIVE ON A FAST 3 LANE HIGHWAY ABOUT 20 MILES EACH WAY TO WORK AND IT'S NOT ALWAYS VERY EASY TO GET OVER TO SAFETY. AFTER SEEING THIS HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED IN ANOTHER STATE I AM HOPEFUL IT RESULTS IN A RECALL SO THIS PROBLEM CAN BE PROPERLY ADDRESSED AND FIXED. PLEASE HELP! *TR

THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH AT LEAST 12 TIMES. THIS OCCURS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CAR WILL STALL OR NEARLY STALL. I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO COAST TO A SAFE LOCATION TURN THE KEY OFF PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. LUCKILY THE CAR HAS RESTARTED EVERYTIME. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AFTER THE NEAR STALL, BUT GOES OFF AFTER I RESTART THE CAR. WHEN I COME TO THE STOP THE ENGINE SEEMS TO BE TRYING TO RUN BUT HAS NO POWER AND THE IDLE IS VERY ROUGH. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOW PROBLEM BUT I DON'T SEE A RECALL ON IT? WHEN IT GOES INTO THE NEAR STALL I HAVE NO ACCELERATION AND PUTS ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION AS I TRY TO JOCKEY TO A SAFE LOCATION WITH NO POWER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR, THE CAR JERKED AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED. THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WE HAD TO MANEUVER THROUGH MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY ROUGH. PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT RAN FINE FOR 2 DAYS, WHEN IT OCCURRED AGAIN, THIS TIME WE WERE DRIVING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR. IT HAS SINCE OCCURRED 5 MORE TIMES, MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, DURING RUSH HOUR. THIS HAS OCCURRED BOTH WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING AND WHEN IT WAS OFF. WE HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO BEING REAR-ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES, WE WERE NOT IN SAFE SITUATIONS AND THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE. I AM UNABLE TO AFFORD A RENTAL CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT PROVIDE US WITH A SAFE VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE MOMENTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE CAR LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING, THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH IS SCARY? WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO STALL AND THE WRENCH INDICATOR SHOWED ON THE DASH. THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER AND IDLED VERY ROUGH. AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND I HAD NO THROTTLE. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE WAS TO CLEAR THE CODE USING A CODE READER. THIS ALLOWED ME TO GET THE VEHICLE SAFELY HOME. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, SINCE I CLEARED THE CODE TO MAKE THE VEHICLE OPERATIONAL THEY WOULD NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEIR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG. EVEN WITH ME PROVIDING THEM THE CODE THAT WAS INDICATED (P2112) AND OFFERING TO PROVIDE THEM THE TSB THAT WAS ISSUED AND THE NHTSA #. *JB
BOTH TAIL LAMPS ILLUMINATE IRREGULARLY. SOMETIMES ONE WILL STAY ON ALL THE TIME AS IF BRAKING, OTHER TIMES ONE WILL COME ON ,BUT FLICKER AND STILL OTHER TIMES THEY WON'T WORK AT ALL. WHILE DRIVING, I HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY ARE WORKING CORRECTLY OR NOT. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL GET HIT FROM BEHIND DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR

TRAVELING TO WORK ON IH35N IN SAN ANTONIO WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOSE ALL POWER AND THE CAR SEEMS TO STALL, I TURN ON MY HAZARDS AND MAKE MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER WHILE PRAYING THE OTHER TRAFFIC MOVING AT SPEED DOESN'T PLOW INTO ME. ONCE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE CAR IS SHUDDERING AND SURGING FORWARD, RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE, NOT EVEN A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. SAME DAY ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK (IH35S NEAR HWY 281 INTERCHANGE) AND THE ENGINE STALLS AGAIN, AT SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE BUT EVEN WORSE NOW BECAUSE OF THE INCREASED TRAFFIC THAT NEEDS TO BE DODGED WHILE I GET THE CAR ONTO A RAISED SHOULDER. RESTART THE CAR AND THIS TIME A "CEL" I DRIVE TO AUTOZONE FOR A CODE CHECK AND IT'S P2111 STUCK THROTTLE BODY. SUNDAY NIGHT CAR STARTS STALLING EVERY 50-100 FEET ON A FRONTAGE ROAD OF IH10 NEAR CALLAGHAN WHILE CRESTING A HILL AND NO CLEAR SIGHT LINES, LUCKILY I WAS NOT REAR ENDED. MANAGED TO NURSE IT, SURGING FORWARD SUDDENLY AND SPUTTERING TO A CREEP, INTO A LA QUINTA HOTEL PARKING LOT AND AWAIT A TOW.
ON AT LEAST 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WE WERE DRIVING (TWO TIMES GOING ABOUT 60 MPH, THE OTHER TWO TIMES ABOUT 30 MPH) AND THE ENGINE SEEMED TO SEIZE UP OR WOULD LOSE ACCELERATION. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON EACH TIME AND WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. WE HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ON BUSY HIGHWAYS TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER). ONCE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES. ONCE WE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, IT SEEMED TO WORK PROPERLY AGAIN. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THE ERROR CODE DID NOT REGISTER SO DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO FIX.
ON AUGUST 30TH, 2013, THE VEHICLE ENGINE WOULD NOT RUN OVER 2000 RPM DURING A DRIVE AT 40 MPH NO MATTER HOW HARD PUSH THE GAS PADDLE. AFTER PUSHED THE BRAKE, SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE, ENGINE STILL WOULD NOT RUN OVER 2000 RPM. THEN I PUT THE SHIFT IN PARKING, TURN OFF ENGINE (USING KEY), RESTART IT, THE ENGINE HAD CHOKE SOUND AND WOULD NOT RUN OVER 1500 RPM. AFTER THAT A GENTLE MAN HELPED ME TO PARK MY CAR IN HIS DRIVEWAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE TOW TRUCK TOWED THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, IT HAD ME, MY WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND HAPPENED WHEN I DROVE THE VEHICLE ACROSS THE RAILROAD CROSS. AFTER 4 DAYS INCLUDING WEEKENDS, THE DEALERSHIP TARGET THE PROBLEM IS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *JB

THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. I PULLED OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED MY CAR OFF. WHEN I RESTARTED MY CAR A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE WRENCH WAS GONE AND THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. I CALLED THE DEALER AND IT IS GOING THERE TONIGHT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2010 MERCURY MILANS. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY LAST WEEK ON THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, YEAR. AS I DO MORE RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. IF THAT'S THE CASE, WHY ISN'T THIS BEING RECALLED? I AM JUST THANKFUL I WASN'T ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND THAT I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE CRACKED INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL. THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT MY VEHICLE WITHOUT ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPENING HANDLE FROM OUTSIDE CAR. DRIVING 55 MPH CAR POWERS DOWN AND YELLOW WRENCH WARNING LIGHT GOES ON. CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER TO PREVENT FROM GETTING REAR-ENDED. LET CAR SIT FOR TEN MINUTES AND RESTARTED. CAR TRAVELED .25 MILES BEFORE POWERING DOWN ONCE AGAIN. BROUGHT IT TO DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT WAS THE WAS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. 650 DOLLARS LATER THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I SEE THAT THIS HAS AFFECTED A MULTITUDE OF FORD VEHICLES. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM WAS MINE. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PART. SOMEONE COULD SERIOUSLY BE HURT WHEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND LOSING ENGINE POWER.

DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING MY CAR APPEARED TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING ON THE INCLINE OF A VIADUCT. IT SLOWED DRAMATICALLY WITHOUT ME BRAKING, SO THERE WERE NO BRAKE LIGHTS TO WARN OTHER DRIVERS. WHILE ON HOLD WITH AAA, I RESTARTED MY CAR. IT APPEARED TO BE WORKING NORMALLY, SO I WENT TO WORK WITHOUT INCIDENT. LATER IN THE DAY MY CAR SEEMED TO STALL AGAIN ON THE WAY TO LUNCH. THIS WAS IN A REMOTE AREA WITH NO OTHER TRAFFIC. AGAIN IT RESTARTED, AND WORKED FINE ON MY RETURN TO WORK. WHILE DRIVING HOME IT HAPPENED A THIRD TIME IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. I HAD TO PULL OVER NEAR HUGE ROLLERS THAT WERE LEVELING NEWLY LAID ASPHALT. LUCKILY IT STARTED AGAIN AND I MERGED BACK INTO CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC AND DROVE HOME. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM. THEY TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE IT SOUNDED LIKE ANOTHER BAD THROTTLE BODY. I GOT A RIDE TO WORK THE NEXT DAY, AND TOOK IT IN AS SOON AS I COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT. THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. *TR

WE SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A "NETWORKING PROBLEM" AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MUST BE REPLACED! NOW, I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE OF THIS PART AND IT WILL BE AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE PART WILL ARRIVE! THE DEALER ESTIMATES THAT THE REPAIR WILL COST $750. I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT YOUR AGENCY ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS THROTTLE BODY DEFECT HAS PRODUCED A LIFE-SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED QUICKLY! THANK YOU. WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. CAR APPEARS TO HAVE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50100.

I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN INITIALLY PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE, THAT I WOULD NOTICE A SURGE, BUT NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. AND NOTHING I THOUGHT ANYMORE ABOUT. YESTERDAY THE CAR DROVE A COUPLE OF BLOCKS NORMALLY, THEN STARTED THE SAME SURGING BUT THIS TIME THE SURGING DID NOT STOP AND I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK OPEN AND IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND GOT ON THE FREEWAY AND AS I ACCELERATED TO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, THE CAR STARTED SPLUTTING AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WITH A TRUCK CLOSE BEHIND ME AND CARS ON EACH SIDE. THE SPEED STARTED TO DECREASE AS I PUSHED ON THE GAS PETAL WITH NOTHING HAPPENING. IT WAS AS THOUGH IT RAN OUT OF GAS AND THE CONSOLE LIGHTS CAME ON. I PANIC AND TRIED TO WORK MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER AFTER THE TRUCK BARELY MISSED PITTING ME AND COASTED TIL THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, IT STARTED BECAUSE I KNEW THAT IT WASN'T OUT OF GAS, I HAD A FULL TANK. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT THAT TIME EITHER. I PRECEDED TO GET BACK ON THE FREEWAY AND GOT UP TO 50 MPH AND WENT TO THE NEAREST EXIT AND MY CAR REPEATED THE SAME THING, THIS TIME WITH A JERKING MOTION..THAT WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I MOVED THE CAR TO A SAFER AREA AND CALLED TO GET IT TOWED. IT WAS PLACE ON THE A MACHINE THAT READ P2111 AND P2112. THE AUTO SHOP INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON EXPRESSWAY ABOUT 60 MPH IN FAST LANE, LOST ALL ACCELERATION. I WAS STILL TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND THE SPEED WAS DROPPING AND I HAD TO CROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I DECIDED TO TRY TO MOVE A LITTLE FATHER UP TO A WIDER SHOULDER SO I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OUT AND IT SEEM TO RUN OK. I WAS VERY BLESSED THAT I MOVED TO THE SIDE WITHOUT BEING HIT BY ALL THE BIG TRUCKS AND CARS AROUND ME. THE DEALER TELLS ME IT IS THE THROTTLE AND I DO NOT HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND MY WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT. I AM VERY CONCERNED AS I SEE THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE WITH THIS CAR. I COULD HAVE BEEN RUN OVER BY A TRUCK OR CAUSED A LOT OF CARS TO CRASH AND KILL A LOT OF PEOPLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I TRANSPORT GRANDCHILDREN FOUR DAYS A WEEK IN THIS CAR AND I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND FIXED. MY LAST MERCURY I HAD 13 YEARS AND NEVER HAD SUCH A SCARE. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR FORD TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? A REAR END COLLISION WITH A FIRE TO KILL A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE EXPRESSWAY? *JB
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY CAR CHUGS AND FEELS AS IF IT WANTS TO STALL. I HAVE TO ACCELERATE AT A VERY VERY SLOW PACE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60MPH AND THE CAR POPPED AND LOST SPEED AND THE CAR WOULD BARELY STAY RUNNING. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD ( DURING RUSH HOUR) AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I RE-STARTED THE CAR AND IT RAN CORRECTLY. *TR
