TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT WAS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER REPAIRED NOR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE ON RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED AT ALL TIMES. REPLACED THE LIGHT AND SAME PROBLEM REMAINS. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH WHEN MY CAR STALLED OUT, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD TO COAST TO SAFETY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT MORNING GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. *TR
I WAS ON FL TURNPIKE AT 70 MPH,TRAFFIC VERY HEAVY .I LOST POWER AND HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER FROM LEFT LANE . ALMOST GOT RAN OVER ,BUT THANK GOD I DIDN'T .I CUT THE MOTOR OFF.RESTARTED IT .I GOT MY SPEED UP TO 70MPH .IT SURGED A FEW TIMES .RAN OK TOO HOME . THIS COULD BE A LIFE OR DEATH THING . ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. CAR LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL, IDLED DOWN TO 1000 RPM, AND RAPIDLY DECELERATED IN HEAVY INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. HAD TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING FELLOW MOTORIST ADVISED MY LEFT REAR LIGHT NOT OPERATING. VISIT TO DEALER CONFIRMED AND PRICE TO REPAIR $400 PLUS LABOR. THAT SEEMS A BIT HIGH TO REPLACE A LIGHT BULB! FORGET IT I WILL DRIVE UNTIL TICKETED. HOWEVER JUST BEFORE MY 3 YR WARRANTY WAS UP IT HAPPENED BUT ON THE RIGHT REAR EXTERIOR. THAT INCIDENT WAS AT NO CHARGE AT THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 55MPH THE ORANGE WRENCH SYMBOL LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER. THE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING, BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR 5 MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE POWER RETURNED ENOUGH TO GET ME TO A FORD DEALER. *TR

AS I ENTERED THE FREEWAY AT 60 MPH BEGIN TO STALL AND THEN LOSING POWER I PUT MY FLASHERS ON HOPING I DON'T GET RUN OVER THE CAR STOPS NO POWER TO STEER AND I'M AT THE MERCY OF SPEEDING VEHICLES. I'M ON A FIXED INCOME.AND DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM TOWN EAST FORD MESQUITE TEXAS. *TR
I WAS PASSING ANOTHER CAR. I BEGAN TO INCREASE MY SPEED. THE READING OF MY SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO DECREASE & MY CAR BEGAN TO STOP PULLING, AS IF IT HAD LOST ITS ENERGY. I PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO IDLE UP CAR. NOTHING HAPPENED. TURNED CAR OFF & BACK ON. CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMAL FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS. THEN IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN ONE DAY. NEXT, I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT $520 TO REPAIR. I THOUGHT MY PLATINUM WARRANTY WOULD COVER THIS BUT, UNFORTUNATELY I WAS TOLD IT WOULDN'T. I JUST PURCHASE THIS CAR IN FEB 2013. TODAY'S DATE IS AUGUST 16,2013. ...NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!! *TR

WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING LOSS ALL PROPULSION AND STARTED TO SPUTTER VIOLENTLY. I NOTICED THE "WRENCH" LIGHT INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AND LUCKILY COASTED WITH NO PROPULSION TO A SAFE AREA ON THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER TO PULL OVER. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF FOR A MINUTE AND RESTARTED VEHICLE AS NORMAL AND NO "INDICATOR LIGHT" HAD ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE OPERATING AS NORMAL AT THIS POINT. LATER I HAD THE CODES PULLED FOR THE INCIDENT ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD IT INDICATED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED 3 TIMES OVER THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS. AFTER DOING A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THE EXACT SAME DESCRIPTION I HAVE HERE. THERE MUST BE AN INHERENT DEFECT OF THE PART USED IN THESE VEHICLES.
THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. I WILL BE DRIVING AND THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY STALL AND DECREASE IN SPEED. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THAT I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER CAR AS WELL. I WENT TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SO I DID THAT. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR LATER THE SAME THING STARTED TO OCCUR. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID THEY DID AN UPDATE, HOWEVER ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUE OCCURED. I TOOK IT BACK TO FORD BECAUSE I AM UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE. RECENTLY NOW ONLY THE BATTERY AND THE OIL CANISTER COMES ON, BUT WHEN IT STALLS OUT NOW IT JERKS REALLY HARD GOING FORWARD THEN STALLS OUT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR. I CALLED FORD AS WELL AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. IT'S SAD TO SEE OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN.
VEHICLE LOST SPEED FOR NO REASON. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD NO RESPONSE BUT THE MOTOR STAYED AT IDLE. STILL HAD BRAKES, STEERING AND OTHER FUNCTIONS BUT NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE DID HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON (WRENCH ICON) AT THE DASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THROTTLE BODY ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
DRIVING CAR STARTED TO SHAKE ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO DIE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE AND LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT THIS HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE NO WARNING OR ANYTHING ONE SECOND CAR RUNNING FINE THE NEXT WILL NOT ACCELERATE? *TR
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IT IS LOSING IT SPEED WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I AM ON A MAIN STREET. WHERE THIS CAR IS PUTTING MY LIFE IN DANGER PLUS OTHER. I TAKE MY CAR TO THREE PLACE NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT WRONG WITH IT THE SIGN CON ON WHEN I HAVE THIS PROBLEM IT TELL ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THERE IS A PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY A CO-WORKER THAT I HAD A LEFT BRAKE LIGHT OUT. I CHECKED AND FOUND THAT NOT ONLY WAS THE BRAKE LIGHT OUT SO WAS THE LAMP OR RUNNING LIGHT OUT ON THE LEFT SIDE. ON THE RIGHT SIDE THE BRAKE LIGHT WORKED PROPERLY DURING THE DAY BUT AT NIGHT WITH THE RUNNING LIGHTS ON THE LIGHT SHOWN WITH BRAKE LIGHT BRIGHTNESS EVEN THOUGH BRAKE WAS NOT DEPRESSED. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED THE LIGHT DIDN'T CHANGE ANY BRIGHTER. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT BOTH LIGHTS WOULD NEED TO BE CHANGED. IF I CHANGED THEM MYSELF IT WOULD COST $406.00 FOR THE LEFT LED MODULE AND $412.00 FOR THE RIGHT MODULE. IF THEY CHANGED THEM ADD ANOTHER $95.00. I CONTACTED FORD ASKING FOR FINANCIAL HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT RECEIVED NONE. THIS REPAIR IN THE PAST USING TWO 1157 LIGHT BULBS WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER $10.00. I HAVE NOT REPLACE LED LAMP/ BRAKE MODULES AT THIS TIME. I WILL CONTINUE TO SAVE FOR THESE ITEMS. *TR
THE LEFT SIDE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHT ARE NOT WORKING... CHANGED THE BULD. WAS INTERMITANT AT FIRST BUT IS NOW OUT. IN ORDER TO FIX... THE WHOLE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE CHANGED FOR ABOUT 500.00!!! LOOKING ON THE INTERNET... IT SEEMS TO BE THAT THE LEFT ONE HAS A HUGE PROBLEM!! DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SPORADICALLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
THE EXACT INCIDENT DATE IS UNKNOWN. THE RIGHT TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT FUNCTION AT ALL AND THE LEFT TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT BURNS VERY BRIGHT LIKE THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED BUT ITS NOT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON BUT THEY FUNCTION WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED OFF ALTHOUGH THE RIGHT ONE IS MUCH DIMMER. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 530.00 PER SIDE AND THERE WOULDN'T BE A GUARANTEE THAT THEY WOULD LAST ANY LONGER. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND MADE A COMPLAINT AS WELL. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT FIXED YET SINCE ITS GOING TO COST ME OVER 1000.00 AND IT MAY GO RIGHT BACK OUT AND HAPPEN AGAIN. I WOULD LIKE THERE TO BE SOME KIND OF A RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER REPORTS FOR THE SAME THING. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
LED TAIL LIGHTS WILL FLICKER OR NOT WORK AT ALL - IN DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND OUT IT IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE - FORD WILL OFFER NO HELP WITH THIS KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT. *TT
I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE MILAN THROTTLE BODY FOR OVER A YEAR. EVERYTIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THE COMPUTER JUST NEEDS REPROGRAMMED. AFTER I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP MY CAR USUALLY HAS A HARD FAILURE JUST LIKE IT DID BEFORE (LOSS OF POWER, ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH, CAR ROLLS TO A STOP). I CAN COMPLETELY TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND IT RUNS FINE AGAIN FOR A WHILE AND THEN DOES IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP WILL ONLY KEEP REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER. THEY HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY 2 TIMES BUT AFTER ABOUT 100 MILES IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. FORD HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIND WHICH IS ONLY WHAT THE CODES SAY (REPROGRAM COMPUTER OR REPLACE THROTTLE BODY). I'M NOT GOING TO KEEP TAKING MY CAR IN EVERY WEEK TO GET REPROGRAMMED. FORD HAS REFUSED TO GIVE ME A LOANER CAR TO USE UNTIL THEY FIX IT. I'VE TAKEN MULTIPLE DAYS OFF WORK AND ARRANGED FOR OTHER TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PREVIOUS WORK. HOWEVER, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I CAN'T KEEP TAKING MY CAR BACK FOR SOME THAT FORD KNOWS NEEDS FIXED. THIS IS CLEARLY A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. I TRAVEL A LOT ON HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES AND WHEN I LOSE POWER I'VE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS WILL ACCIDENTS (RE ENDED) AND TRYING TO GET TO A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF AND RESTART CAR. I CAN NO LONGER USE MY CAR TO DRIVE MY KIDS AROUND DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF BEING HIT DURING A FAILURE OR STRANDED. I'VE MADE THIS KNOWN VERY CLEARLY TO FORD BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE. IF THEY DO THEY ARE NOT ACTING ON IT. I WOULD HATE FOR SOMETHING TERRIBLE TO HAPPEN BEFORE THEY FIX IT. I'M NOT ONLY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY BUT OTHERS THAT MAY BE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THEIR CAR. ALL I'M ASKING FOR IS FOR FORD TO RECOGNIZE THIS IS A VERY REAL AND SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,150.
DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY AT 65 MPH, AND VEHICLE LOST POWER, COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD. ENGINE WAS VIBRATING/SHAKING A LOT. THE WRENCH SYMBOL WAS LIT. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. WAITED JUST A SHORT TIME, ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND STARTED AND IT SEEMED OKAY. I CONTINUED HOME, ABOUT 10 MILES WITHOUT ANOTHER PROBLEM. IT ALSO HAPPENED ANOTHER TIME, JUST DRIVING ABOUT 10 MPH, WHEN I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I BELIEVE THE ENGINE QUIT, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT, AND BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I REMEMBER SEEING THE WRENCH LIGHT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT. AGAIN, THERE WAS A LOT OF SHAKING OF THE ENGINE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY FAMILY HOME IN OUR HYBRID MILAN ON A BUSY STREET AND THE ENGINE LIGHT FOR POWER TRAIN FAILURE (A WRENCH) CAME ON, SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION. I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY BLINKER TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY AND TO A SAFE PLACE TO STOP. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND HAD TO MOVE ACROSS SEVERAL LANES TO GET AWAY FROM TRAFFIC CONFUSED BY MY SUDDEN AND APPARENTLY UNREASONABLE DECELERATION. I PULLED OVER INTO A SIDE STREET AND STOPPED THE CAR, LOOKED UP THE LIGHT MEANING IN THE CARD MANUAL AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND DROVE IT AROUND A SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD SUCCESSFULLY BEFORE I WOULD ATTEMPT TAKING IT HOME WITH MY YOUNG DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. WE TOOK A TENTATIVE DRIVE HOME WITH THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS FLASHING, HOPING IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, AS THERE WAS NO WAY TO GO HOME WITHOUT TRAFFIC IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA. COMING TO THIS SITE AND SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS I AM WONDERING IF WE HAVE TO HAVE FATALITIES BEFORE THIS IS INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED. I DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS DAILY AND MY 7 YEAR OLD'S LIFE IS TOO IMPORTANT FOR THIS UNCERTAINTY. UNTIL NOW, I JUST LOVED MY CAR. NOW IT IS SCARY AS I SEE THIS IS COMMON, UNPREDICTABLE AND CLEARLY DANGEROUS. *TR
WHILE TRAVELLING 40 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH. THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO GO INTO THE LIMP MODE. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. *TR
ON 7/26 THE CAR LOST ALL ENGINE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. AFTER COASTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR SHAKES UNTIL PUT INTO PARK. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, RESTART AND THE WRENCH DISAPPEARS AS WELL AS THE SHAKING. I AM ABLE TO CONTINUE AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THREE MORE TIMES IT HAPPENS THAT DAY. A FEW DAYS GO BY WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON 7/31 IT OCCURS AGAIN THREE TIMES FOLLOWING THE SAME TRAVEL ROUTE AS THE DAYS BEFORE, BUT IN A 35MPH ZONE INSTEAD. ON 8/2 I TAKE THE CAR TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSES IT AS P2111 (FAULTY THROTTLE BODY) AND SAYS HE CAN'T GET THE PART DUE TO A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. MY FAULTY PART IS 9L8E-9F991-BC AND I HAVE CALLED AND LOOKED ONLINE AT SEVERAL FORD DEALERS AND AM ALSO TOLD THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER WITH NO FIRM ETA. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG ON THE HIGHWAY AND I FELT MY CAR STALL A LITTLE, THEN MY SPEED STARTED SLOWING DOWN AUTOMATICALLY. THE WRENCH SYMBOL CAME ON THE DASHBOARD SO I PULLED OVER AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN BUT MY CAR WOULDN'T LET ME GO OVER 40 MILES AN HOUR SO I PULLED OVER AGAIN. I WAS ONLY 5 MILES FROM HOME SO I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR HOME. WE TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY RAN TESTS ON IT AND I WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WAS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY HOWEVER THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY COULD GET THE PART FOR ME BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF STOCK. I DID MY OWN RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A POSSIBLE RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY FOR MY TYPE OF CAR. WAITING TO GET MY CAR FIXED.
WENT APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE AFTER STARTING THE CAR. SUDDENLY IT STARTED BUCKING AND JERKING AND SLOWED DRAMATICALLY. NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME, OR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. TURNED OFF OF ROAD. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. IT RAN NORMALLY AND DROVE ABOUT ANOTHER MILE, THEN THE BUCKING AND JERKING HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO AN AREA AND PARKED IT. TOOK CAR IN FOR REPAIR AND TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
FIRST TIME THE ENGINE QUIT TWICE AT STOP SIGNS. SINCE THEN IT HAS STALLED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES, THE LAST ONE ON A FREEWAY AT 60 MILES PER HOUR DURING RUSH HOUR. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS, NO CODES. THEY DID FIND THE BATTERY CABLES WERE A LITTLE LOOSE AND TIGHTENED THEM. THEY ADVISED DRIVING THE CAR AND SEEING IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I AM TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS AS THERE CLEARLY IS A PROBLEM AND DRIVING IT WITHOUT A REPAIR ONLY SETS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE CAR STALLS AGAIN. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT CAR KILLED TWICE AT STOP SIGNS. SINCE THEN IT HAS STALLED AT LEAST 7 TIMES, THE LAST TIME ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR DURING RUSH HOUR. IT WAS ONLY WITH THE HELP OF TWO HIGHWAY HELPERS WHO BLOCKED LANES ON THE FREEWAY WAS I ABLE TO EXIT SAFELY. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND NO CODES WERE FOUND. THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY AND FIX THE PROBLEM SO SUGGESTED JUST TAKING THE CAR AND SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. IN OTHER WORDS, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR HAS STALLED AT LEAST 7 TIMES, TAKE IT OUT ON THE FREEWAY AGAIN AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. I ADVISED FORD THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND REFERENCED THE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE13003. I HAVE REQUESTED THEY REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AS THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
I WORK FOR THE DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION AND MY OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT VEHICLE A 2010 FORD MERCURY MILAN STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 65 PER HOUR. THE CAR STALLED AND I HAD TO PULL OVER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER WITH FORD AND A INTERNET SEARCH FOR THIS PROBLEM IS PRETTY WIDE SPREAD. THE STALLING OF A VEHICLE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY IS A SERIOUS HAZARD TO THE PUBLIC. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ADDRESSED WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. *TR
DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL. ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. I TURNED IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO CREEP TO A SHOULDER WHEN IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. $500 REPAIR AND $55 TOW. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THE FORD MOTOR CO. WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WHEN THE MILEAGE GETS AROUND 50,000 MILES. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. I'M GOING TO SUE THEM IN MAGISTRATES COURT ON MONDAY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTS SHAKING. I TRIED TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY BUT THE CAR HAD NO POWER SO I TRIED TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, BAD IDEA. AS MY SPEED IS DECREASING RAPIDLY THERE IS CARS HONKING AND TRYING TO MOVE AROUND TO AVOID HITTING ME. I GET TO THE MEDIAN, BETWEEN AND EXIT AND THE FREEWAY, AND TURN OFF MY CAR. I TURN ON MY CAR AGAIN AND AS I TRIED TO GET ONTO THE FREEWAY THE CAR WONT LET ME PICK UP SPEED AND IT STARTS SHAKING AGAIN. I WAS STUCK IN THE MEDIAN FOR AROUND 10 MINUTES BEFORE TRAFFIC GOT CLEAR ENOUGH FOR ME TO ENTER THE LANE AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE, BEING THAT EVERY TIME I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO GET IN THE LANE IT WOULD START SHAKING. TO ME THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS NOT A RECALL. I HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE FOR THE MONEY THEY CHARGE US FOR THESE CARS THEY COULD AT LEAST MAKE A CAR THAT WONT CRAP OUT SO SOON! *TR
ENGINE GOES LIMP. THROTTLE BODY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. FORD HAS REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL TWICE AND THE PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK. FORD WILL NOT CONSIDER ANY OTHER PROBLEMS AND KEEPS WANTING TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. MOST OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN IN REVERSE GOING UP A HILL. IF I PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE, THEN RE-START, THE ENGINE IS NO LONGER LIMP. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED OVER 6 MONTHS, MULTIPLE (>20) TIMES. *TR
AFTER COMING ONLINE AND ONE SEARCH LED ME HERE AND I SAW THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FROM SO MANY OTHER MILAN OWNERS, I WAS ALARMED. I BOUGHT IT COUPLE MONTHS AGO, LESS THAN 30K MILES... I'M DRIVING AND ACCELERATING STOPPED WORKING, MY CAR SLOWED DOWN, I CLICKED THE HAZARDS ON REAL QUICK AND DRIFTED AS FAR OVER AS I COULD. POLICE HAD TO PUT FLARES OUT UNTIL TOW TRUCK CAME. TOW TRUCK GOT THERE AND AFTER WE MADE IT TO FORD-MERCURY, THE CAR STARTED AND "ACTED" JUST FINE. THE TOW DRIVER SUGGESTED IT HAD BEEN BAD GAS AND MAY NEED INJECTION CLEANER. I DECIDED TO DRIVE IT HOME AFTER ADDING HI-TEST GAS AND INJ CLEANER, AND IT WAS ALL GOOD. UNTIL TODAY.(3 DAYS LATER). I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND CAR IDLED DOWN TIL IT CUT OFF. THE MPG LED MONITOR STARTED DROPPING (JUST LIKE IT DID FIRST TIME) IT WENT FROM GETTING 15 MPG TO 5 MPG IN THE MATTER OF 2 MINUTES WHILE JUST IDLING. AS IF THE GAS WAS DUMPING THRU LINES. ALSO THE IDLE BECAME SO ERRATIC IT WOULD GO UP THEN DROP DOWN, I MADE IT WHERE I NEEDED BUT LEFT THE CAR, AND TOOK SPOUSES CAR. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THE DASH THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT SHOWS ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE MPG DROPPED FROM 13MPG TO 2.2MPG AND THE IDLE RPM WOULD GO UP AND DOWN, NO MATTER WHETHER YOU PUSHED GAS OR NOT. GAS PEDAL STILL FELT NORMAL UNDER FOOT, SO NOT THE PEDAL. CAR STILL RAN, JUST WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE, (HAD DOG AND NEEDED AC UNTIL TOW CAME) I HOPE THERE'S A FIX FOR THIS. FROM WHAT I'M SEEING, EVEN THE DEALER MECHANICS CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. WILL BE CHECKING HERE TO SEE IF ANY NEW HELP OR ADVICE IS AVAILABLE. *TR
DRIVING 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY AND CAR LOST ALL POWER AND YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH. WITH CAR IN LIMP MODE PULLED OVER TO SERVICE LANE. CAR TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALER. DEALER REPLACED DEFECTIVE BATTERY BUT FOUND NO CODES STORED IN COMPUTER. DEALER TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND REPORTED NO PROBLEM. THREE DAYS LATER SAME INCIDENT (LOSS OF POWER AND WRENCH LIGHT). SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND ENGINE HAD NORMAL POWER L WITH WRENCH LIGHT EXTINGUISHED. DROVE VEHICLE TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND LEFT IT THERE FOR MORE DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIR. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND FEELING FOR ALL ENGINE POWER TO BE GONE UNEXPECTEDLY. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE NJ GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AT 65 MPH IN THE EXPRESS LANES WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING BAD AND LOST POWER. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS CONDITION TO LOSE POWER AT THAT SPEED. SHE PULLED THE CAR OVER TO SIDE, SHUT OFF ENGINE, THEN RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE VEHICLE ABOUT A MILE AND GET OFF THE PARKWAY AT EXIT 117 TO ROUTE 35 SOUTH. THE CAR AGAIN STARTED TO RUN BAD AND SHE PULLED INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP NEAR THIS EXIT. THE FORD DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH WENT BAD. THIS TOOK 5 DAYS AS THERE IS A NATIONAL SHORTAGE FOR THIS PART.#DS7Z9E926D. IT IS EVIDENT THAT FORD HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS PART BREAKING DOWN ON THOUSANDS OF CARS AS I SEE OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. I CONTACTED FORD CORP. IN DETROIT AND WAS TOLD NOT UNDER WARRANTY ON MY CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I WORRY THAT THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE, WON'T LAST LONG AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. THE 2010 MILAN CONTINUED TO HAVE THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS AND WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND THE SUDDEN DECELERATION CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY POSES A SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND TO OTHER MOTORISTS. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 58 MPH ON 7/20/13 THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR LOST POWER. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THERE WAS NO REACTION IN POWER WHEN PUSHING ON GAS PEDAL. PULLED THE CAR OVER, PUT IN PARK, IT WAS STILL RUNNING, WITH A SLIGHT SHAKE, TURNED CAR OFF WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE STARTING. WHEN STARTED THE CAR RAN FINE AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF. TWO DAYS LATER, 7/22/13, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP SIGN. SAME THING PULLED OVER, RESTARTED, LIGHT WAS OFF, DROVE FINE. FEW DAYS LATER, 7/25/13, CAR WENT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AND I HAD THEM SEE WHAT THEY COULD FIND OUT. UP UNTIL THIS POINT THE CAR HAS RAN FINE, NO ISSUES, AND I LOVE THE CAR. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND IS ON BACK ORDER FOR ONE-TWO MONTHS. I THEN DRIVE THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES FOR SEVERAL DAYS. ONCE AGAIN ON 7/30/13 THE SAME THING HAPPENS THIS TIME AT ABOUT 35 MPH, IS FINE ONCE STARTED BACK UP. SAME THING ON 8/1/13. ON 8/4/13 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THIS HAPPENS, I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD QUICK ENOUGH THAT IT DIDN'T INTERFERE WITH THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I GOT DOWN THE ROAD AND WAS TRYING TO TURN ONTO MY ROAD AND THIS HAPPENS AGAIN AND I AM NOW IN MIDDLE OF LANE FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I MANAGE TO GET IT GOING AND FINISH TURN JUST FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY PERSON TURNING ONTO ROAD. I THEN LET THE CAR SIT FOR SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE I HAD TO RUN AN ERRAND, I WAS ONLY ABLE TO MAKE IT THREE HOUSES DOWN BEFORE THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE, I AM LUCK IN THAT I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA, BUT THERE IS ENOUGH TRAFFIC OR WHEN GOING TO WORK, THAT THIS COULD CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY NOT ONLY TO MYSELF OR ANOTHER DRIVER BUT TO THE CHILDREN IN MY CAR. *TR
MY CAR HAS STOPPED NUMEROUS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY EXPRESSWAY AND HAS ALMOST RESULTED IN A ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY THE THROTTLE STARTED DROPPING DOWN TO IDLE SPEED AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING AND THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE ONLY MANUAL STEERING LEFT. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STARTED COASTING. PULLED OVER AND STOPPED SHUT OFF THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND THE CAR STARTED UP AND RAN NORMALLY FOR 10 MILES THAN IT DID IT AGAIN. *TR
MULTIPLE TIMES & VARIATIONS, BUT ALWAYS W/THE SAME RESULT. AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT, WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON & VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL ACCELERATION ABILITY WHILE IT SURGED/IDLED VERY ROUGHLY. EACH TIME, I PULLED VEHICLE OFF ROAD TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY, PUT IT IN PARK (WOULD THEN IDLE ROUGH, BUT SURGE LESS). TURNED VEHICLE OFF, WAITED 5-10MIN, RESTARTED & VEHICLE WOULD FUNCTION CLOSE TO NORMALLY (MINIMAL SMALL SURGES WHILE DRIVING). WHILE VEH WAS MALFUNCTIONING, I COULD HOLD GASOLINE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR W/NO RESPONSE. COULD NOT MANUALLY SHIFT (I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC SHIFTABLE) PAST 2ND GEAR & VEH WOULD NOT PROGRESS FORWARD - EXCEPT IF THE ENGINE SURGED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED MORE, WITH LESS TIME BETWEEN FAILINGS AS THE DAY PROGRESSED UNTIL I COULD FINALLY GET TO A POPULATED AREA/SMALL TOWN. IT IS ALSO WORTH MENTIONING, BOTH MECHANICS THAT CHECKED MY VEHICLE FOR ME COULD NOT FIND ANY "HISTORY" IN MY CODES. HOWEVER, THE FIRST FORD DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO DO A SPECIAL CHECK THAT FOUND A "THROTTLE BODY FAILURE". THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY (PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED TILL 9/24/13) & SENT ME ON MY WAY HOPING THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT, SO I STOPPED AT THE VERY NEXT TOWN AFTER IT HAPPENED AGAIN & LEFT MY MERCURY MILAN WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS REALLY QUITE SCARY AS TRAFFIC AROUND ME HAD NO IDEA I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THANKFULLY ALL DRIVERS INVOLVED WERE QUICK ENOUGH TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. *TR
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 70 MPH, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE A COUPLE CLOSE CALLS SINCE IT WAS RUSH HOUR. THE ENGINE STUTTERED SOME BUT DID NOT DIE, EVEN THOUGH I COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR GO FASTER THAN 3MPH OR SO. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED ABOUT 20 SECONDS, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. WHEN TURNING IT BACK ON, IT TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL TO TURN OVER, BUT STARTED, AND THE WRENCH LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON. I CONTINUED MY DRIVE HOME LIKE NORMAL AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. I WENT OUT THE SAME EVENING ON A 15 MINUTE DRIVE, AND THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE. ONCE WHEN STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, ONCE GOING 30MPH. AFTER I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION, AND TRIED GOING HOME ABOUT 1.5 HOURS LATER, ON THE SAME 15 MINUTE DRIVE, I HAD NO PROBLEMS. I'M TOLD ITS THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, WHICH IS VERY COMMON IN 2010 MERCURY MILANS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO LOSE POWER, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT RANDOM TIMES. I HOPE THERE IS A RECALL SOON SO I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK ON REPAIRS SINCE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. *TR
THROTTLE BODY DEFECT -- THE PROBLEM BEGAN JULY 14 AND HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. IT WAS FINALLY FIXED BY JULY 31. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, MOSTLY AFTER STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION AND MAKING A TURN TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. IT HAPPENED ONCE WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND SLOWING DOWN FOR A SCHOOL ZONE. IN MOST CASES, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE CAR, AND RESTART. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON IN EACH INCIDENT. THANKFULLY, I DID NOT HAVE TO GO ONTO A HIGHWAY BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. AFTER THEY FIGURED OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, IT TOOK ABOUT 2 WEEKS TO GET THE PART. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING FOR THE CAR TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING LEFT! THIS IS A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT, AND THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED SO THAT THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. MOST OF MY DRIVING IS DONE AT VILLAGE SPEED LIMITS OF 25 TO 30 MPH. EVEN AT THOSE SPEEDS, IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING FOR THE CAR TO SUDDENLY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I AM STILL VERY HESITANT TO TAKE THE CAR OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. EVEN AFTER REPAIR, IT SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE IT HESITATES AND MIGHT LOSE POWER. *TR
