The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the A/C fan was turned off and failed to turn back on. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the HVAC blower motor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
The brakes failed to stop my car a week ago. A warning brake light appeared at the same time. It happened on a street near my home before I pulled onto the highway. No one was behind me. I shut engine off and when it restarted, I was able to brake, turn around, and return home. I had car towed to repair facility who examined the brakes and determined the brakes needed software update that only Ford could do as per a recall that just appeared. I had the car towed to Ford dealership where it now sits waiting to be worked into their schedule. This had also happened a year prior backing out of my driveway. Repair facility examined the brakes then, but found no issue as brakes began working again. Other than these 2 incidents, the brakes have been operating correctly. The car is available for inspection at Ford dealer in Lenoir City. TN.
Oct 2019 I went to My dealer to have a tire pressure sensor replaced due to a warning message. The sensor was replaced but the warning message remained. The mechanic did further checking and said I needed a smart junction box which can affect many things such as lights turn signals heat seat belts etc. Ford said they could not repair my car because they could not get this part. I recently inquired if it was available and there is still no ETA for this part. I had to pay them up front even though none are available. Is there a way that you can get this part expedited at Ford or issue a recall as it affects warnings and safety components. This part has to be programmed by the dealer so I do not think a salvage yard part is feasible not really sure.
The power steering in my car just randomly started getting really hard to steer while I was driving out of my neighborhood a few days ago. I was turning a corner and it became so hard to steer, I almost got hit by another vehicle coming really fast and I had both of my small children in my car with me. I have researched and see that a 2011 is recalled for this same exact issue but my 2010 is not. I didn’t have any warning lights come on until it started locking up. I’m so upset that this is not an issue that needs to be fixed by a recall. This is so scary for myself and for my children.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH and attempting to stop the vehicle at a gate, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The contact engaged the parking to stop the vehicle. The ABS, brakes, and traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the hydraulic control unit and ABS control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,200.
Brake failure related to recall 19s54 which my vehicle vin number was not included. All brake warning lights came on and traction control lights came on as well as brake pedal going to floor and unable to stop in time going over railroad tracks. Almost causing me to crash thru railroad crossing gates as train was approaching. I used emergency brake to stop vehicle. Lights remained on and very little brake peddle stoping now. Ford says vehicle is not one of the vin numbers included in recall yet it is the same problem. Car needs to be flushed with dot 4 brake fluid brake fluid cap needs replacing and HUD needs to be replaced for stuck ABS valve.

THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING GOING 60 MPH. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. LUCKY TO GET THE CAR STPPED WITH OUT WRECKING . 93500 MILES 2010 MILAN PREMIER. WHY WAS THESE CARS RE CALLED ?

The contact restarted the vehicle and the power steering assist and Service Advanced Trac warning lights were illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle back to his residence without power assist functionality. The local dealer was contacted and informed of the failure however, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.
Tail and brake light for the second time has failed. A safety function of this nature should not be this difficult to fix and replace. The item should be available and affordable. You literally have to take out a lone to get it fixed. So now I can't go to work or anything else with this vehicle. This is supposed to be an affordable car. So the only way for me right now to fix is park it. I hear one person say " well it's not like a wheel falling off " I said tell that to the person behind me. With all these distractions now, between phones and other fancy options on cars. I'm a truck driver so I know how important these warning devices are. It is time to set a new standard in how safety items get replaced availability and cost should never be an issue.!!!!!!!!! With out question.
I drove my Mercury Milan to a store a few blocks from my house and when I tried to drive home, I couldn't get the steering to turn. I turned my car off and tried again and same thing. I waited a while longer, tried again, and was able to turn it. I thought it was just a fluke. A couple days later the same thing happened and a message "Power Steering Assist Fault" appeared. My husband and I then took it to our local independent mechanic. He had to replace the steering rack and pinion. He said Ford has a recall for the 2011 Milan for this same problem but not for the 2010. I do quite a bit of interstate driving and am thankful it didn't go out while I was driving at a high rate of speed or it could have been a major safety concern (as it has been for others apparently).
I backed out of a parking space in a parking lot and turned the steering wheel left then as I put vehicle into "drive" my steering seemed to lock up and became extremely hard to turn. I kept attempting to turn wheel and suddenly it was easily turned again as normal. While I was driving home the power steering stopped working causing steering wheel to feel as if locked again and almost impossible to turn in any direction. I almost wrecked my vehicle and hit another vehicle on the road way but hit my brakes and continued to aggressively turn the wheel to missed the vehicle in front of me. I heard and felt a pop and then steering wheel was easily turned again. I barely missed the vehicle in front of me but I did hit the curb and a bicycle a pedestrian was holding next to him on sidewalk. He was able to jump out of the way and was fortunately unharmed. I stopped my vehicle and parked immediately. I called my husband and he came to get the vehicle and I drove his home. He had no problems driving vehicle home and power steering was working as normal but once he was close to pulling into the driveway, a warning message on dash read "service power steering now".... there were no warning of this problem what so ever and just suddenly happened. Very dangerous and I have read many many others have had same issue with exact make and model of 2010 mercury milan. Please add this issue with power steering to recall list so others don't get hurt. I hurt my neck & wrist when I hit that curb and bicycle. I also had to pay for bicycle I hit.. A code reader was put onto car the next day and gave codes C-1963 and C-1277 if that helps with the recall. Thank you for your time and concern in this matter and I apologize for any inconvenience.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that ABS engaged while traveling on an icy road, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact continued driving and the failure corrected itself. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the ABS control module was sticking and needed to be replaced. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH on the interstate, the power steering became inoperable. The power steering fault message was displayed. The contact pulled over, restarted the vehicle, and the power steering started to work as designed. The contact stated that the failure recurred without warning. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.
I was pulled over for my BRAKE LIGHT being out. I went to the dealer and was charged $600 for a brake light assembly. My car has 35,636 miles on it, like new vehicle. Even though it is know defect Ford would not reimburse me for part. I was told it was out of warranty and NOT a saftey issue. I certainly believe that a brake light is a safety issue- especially since they have not replaced my driver side airbag. I think this part should have been recalled and I should be reimbursed. Thank you!
As I was driving the service power steering now was indicated on the dash and the steering got super tight and almost caused an accident.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that his father was driving 35 MPH, and heard a beeping sound coming from the vehicle with an unknown warning light illuminated. The driver continued to drive the vehicle to his destination. The driver exited the vehicle and when he returned and started the vehicle the power steering was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
Driving and steering fault showed on dash. Steering failed became dangerous to control vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 MERCURY Milan. The contact stated while reversing out of a parking spot, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated that the power steering assist fault warning light was displayed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was informed that VIN was not under recall for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,800.
I was driving and my Hydrolic control unit failed
The passenger rear tail light has gone out on my 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid. Just had the left one replaced 5 months ago to the tune of $900 and the dealership is asking for the same for this one. Seriously, a $900 tail light?
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I collided with three parked vehicles and my airbags did not deploy causing me to hit my head
While braking for bumps and pot holes the brake pedal goes to the floor resulting in no brakes for a few seconds. Brake pedal returns after pumping the brake pad.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle failed to immediately respond. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic and upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
My 2010 Mercury Milan power steering fault light comes on, when it's on no power steering. So far it has happen when I turn the car on. I took it to the dealer and they informed me that the electric steering rack has to be replaced because the power steering can go out while I'm driving. I researched and found that the 2011 Mercury Milan had a recall on the above problem. Also the same exact part was used on both model years. Not sure why the 2010 was not included in this recall. Both cars were assembled at Hermosillo, Mexico.
The contact's sister owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard without warning. The contact also stated that the brake master cylinder and the brake calipers were both replaced by an independent mechanic; however, the failure persisted. The contact then discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which he linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle exhibited the same failure as stated in the recall; however, there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 140,000.
At least once a month, when I pull out of my driveway and press the brake pedal it goes all the way to the floor and the car doesn't stop. This happened again on August 3rd, 2021. I have had it to the dealer for this issue and paid to have the ABS valve replaced out of pocket. Ford said the recall "didn't cover my VIN #" and they will not reimburse me. Despite having that part replaced, at significant expense, the issue still happens fairly frequently. Driving the car around the block slowly, repeatedly pumping the brakes, is the only way to temporarily resolve the issue.
So my ABS and Traction control lights came on while driving, my steering wheel became stiff, and I had ZERO brakes. I almost hit another vehicle. After being able to pull over and safely park without hurting myself and child or anyone else, I had my husband come get my car. He said that when opening the break fluid cap it was sucked down. It "fixed" itself after the cap was fixed. After a few weeks, my 16 yr old was driving and it happened to her, she pulled over, called me. I came to get her and done what my Husband said, shutting the car off, turn the break fluid cap off see if the rubber part was sucked down, and it was , to push it back up, check fluid , put cap back on, restart car. This happens every 2-3 weeks. Driving down a very steep Canyon in Colorado I feared my breaks going out on me. I looked this issue up and there is a RECALL on 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrids just NOT for particular VIN. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that while driving the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The brake warning indicator light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer but, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 73,,000. The contact stated the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number:19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic).
The power steering went out while I was driving in a parking lot. I replaced the rack and pinion and it went out again the day after I got it fixed. Warning lights saying fix power steering now and trac control are on. My mechanic can’t figure out why the power steering keeps going out and isn’t sure how to fix it.
The contact's wife owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal would intermittently soften as the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and informed him that they were unaware of the failure and offered no further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
For years I have sporadically gotten a "Power Steering Sensor Fault" displayed when I would start the car. You could barely turn the steering wheel. In searching the Owner's Manual, owners are advised to turn off the ignition, wait briefly then restart the car (how this issue got into the Owner's Manual and could not be addressed and eliminated, I don't understand). This would correct the fault and the power steering would function normally. Fortunately it never happened while driving. In the last week this display was occurring more frequently until on 5/16/21 it would not go away and I could not drive the car. Today, 5/20/21 I got it towed to the local Ford dealer. The situation will probably not be diagnosed until next week. From reading everything on the internet, this is a routine safety concern, and a recall for the control module has been issued on the 2011-2015 Milan models. Unfortunately my car is 2010 and is not included in the recall. Aren't we talking about an identical control module as to those that have been recalled?? Then why wouldn't the NHTSA not be concerned about this very similar safety issue??!! I'm thankful this didn't happed to me while driving!
An ABS warning light appeared on dashboard. When I was slowing to stop, the brake pedal started going to the floorboard. I was able to stop by almost standing on brake pedal. Ford dealership could find nothing. I checked brake fluid, fine. Light on dashboard were out. Was repeating sporadically, took to another mechanic whose assistant almost went through wall of shop. After code said ABS module, replaced. Problem repeated. Currently at another Ford dealership (4weeks waiting on hydrologic control module). Other Mercury Milan Hybrid have been recalled, why not this one?
POWER STEERING HAS FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYS 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED. THIS OCCURRED BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. FORTUNATELY I WAS DRIVING IN A SAFE LOCATION EACH TIME, BUT HAD IT BEEN ON A HIGHWAY THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ON 2011 MERCURY MILANS, BUT NOT ON 2010 MODELS.
I CALL MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS TO SCHEDULE A FREE IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR REPLACEMENT, ACCORDING TO NHTSA IS DUE FOR REPLACEMENT, BUT WORKERS AT THIS LOCATION HANG UP THE PHONE, TELL ME TO WAIT 1 SECOND AND DISSAPEAR MAKING ME WRITE THIS PARAGRAPHS BECAUSE MY SAFETY IS #1 PRIORITY. THEY WANT ME TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE IN THEIR PROPERTIES FOR 3 DAYS FOR A SIMPLE 2 HOUR JOB AND THAT IS REALLY UNACCEPTABLE, ONLY BECAUSE ITS FREE DONT MEAN I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS NONSENSE. THE VEHICLE RUNS AND WORKS FINE BUT IN AAN EVENT OF A CRASH GOD FORBIDDES, I WOULDNT WANT EXPLODING AIRBAG FRAGMENT TO BE THE CAUSE OF MY DEATH AND IM URGING TO GET THIS REPLACED ASAP BUT LAZY WORKER WHO DONT LIKE THEIR JOB SHOULD BE FIRED TO OPEN UP POSITION FOR PEOPLE WHO APPRECIATE THEIR JOBS. NOW I DONT KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THIS SITUATION IM STUCK KNOWING THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR AN AIRBAG EXPLOSION DEPLOYING AND RISKING MY LIFE AT THE HANDS OF INCONMPETENT WORKERS WHO DONT REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT RECALLS REALLY ARE. I CANT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE PLUS MY VEHICLE TURNS ON AND THE TIRES ROTATE WITHOUT A HASSLE THERES NO POINT IN BUYING MORE JUNK. PLEASE GET BACK AT ME THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS. I HAVE RECORDS OF A RECALL THAT WAS DONE ON PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG BUT NOW NHTSA RECOMMENDS THE DRIVER SIDE I APPRECIATE THE ADVICE BUT DEALERSHIPS ACT REALLY UNPROFESSIONALLY TOWARDS THE SITUATION.

POWER STEERING ASSIST FAIL AT 133000 MILES. I WAS JUST STARTING MY CAR
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I received a recall notice in March 2021 that the driver airbag needs replacement, but the part is not yet available. It still is not available! I consider this dangerous and should be fixed.

STARTED MY CAR UP AND IT SAID POWER STEERING FAILED..I CUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED THEN IT WENT OFF...AS I WAS HEADED TO WORK THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE..I PULLED INTO THE STORE TURNED THE CAR OFF A WHILE AND STARTED IT BACK UP THE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE LEAVING WORK THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE POPPED BACK UP I ONCE AGAIN TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A WHILE...I MANAGE TO MAKE IT HOME BUT A MILE FROM MY HOUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT ONCE AGAIN CAME ON.. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS..I LOVE MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY LOVED ONES DRIVING LIKE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE A WRENCH EMBLEM APPEARED ON MY DASH WARNING PANEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE. IN THE LAST INSTANCE THE VEHICLE THEN DROPPED SPEED FROM 45 MPH TO 5 MPH AND RAN VERY ROUGHLY. I THEN PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE CURB AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE THEN DROVE HOME WITH NO ISSUE. I CHECKED MY OWNERS MANUAL AND FOUND THE INDICATOR WAS A THROTTLE LINKAGE MALFUNCTION. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER. THEY REPLACED MY BATTERY BUT THIS DID NOT ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE. LUCKILY FOR ME THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO TRAFFIC WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AS WITHOUT WARNING MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. I CHECKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT FOUND NONE. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
I WAS AT A STORE FOR A WHILE I CAME OUTSIDE I CRANK MY CAR PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE SIMULTANEOUSLY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT THE ABS SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT I DID SEE. THIS IS ALL THE SYMPTOMS OF A RECALL BUT IT IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH MY VIN NUMBER NOW THE DEALERSHIP THAT HAS MY VEHICLE HAS SERVICE THREE OTHER RECALLS WHERE IS SERVICING THREE OTHER RECALLS THAT HAS TOLD ME THAT NOW I WILL HAVE TO PAY $3,500 FOR A RACK AND PINION REPLACEMENT AND WHATEVER THIS RECALL CAUSES FOR MY BRAKES
I STARTED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED.
REPLACED ABS AND MASTER CYLINDER AND CAN'T RESTORE BRAKES AFTER BLEEDING THEM OUT THERE WAS STILL NO BRAKES REPLACED ABS AND MASTER CYLINDER REBLEED THEM AND STILL NO BRAKES
MULTIPLE TIMES NOW THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKS UP AND POWER STEERING.FAILS WHILE DRIVING. THE LATEST TIME WAS IN A PARKING LOT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE LAST TIME WAS 1/30/2021.
AT NIGHT, AS MY SON WAS APPROACHING A 4 WAY STOP ON A CITY STREET IN SLICK, ICY CONDITIONS, ABS KICKED IN AND LOCKED UP AND SLID THROUGH THE STOP SIGN. SINCE THAT TIME, THE ABS HAS NOT WORKED. THE BRAKES SILL WORK, BUT YOU HAVE DEPRESS IT NEARLY ALL THE WAY. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC LAST WEEK, AND SAID HCU VALVE WAS STICKING AND NOT CLOSING. NOTED THEIR WAS A RECALL ON THIS FOR EARLY MANUFACTURED MODEL NHTSA #19V904.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT ON DASH WITH POWER STEERING NOT WORKING. UNIT WAS ALREADY REPLACED 7 MONTHS AGO AND HAS FAILED AGAIN. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD MUST ISSUE A RECALL! SERVICE ADVANCETRAC ERROR ALSO DISPLAYED. ONLY 46,000 MILES ON VEHICLE AND THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED TWICE!
