I DON'T HAVE BRAKES AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT IS ON.
ON JANUARY 19, 2021, I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. I LOOKED AT THE MESSAGE CENTER ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN AND THE MESSAGE SHOWED "POWER STEERING FAULT". I PULLED BACK UP INTO THE PARKING SPACE AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I RESTARTED IT, EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. I SEE WHERE THIS IS A RECALL ON MERCURY MILAN 2011 AND AFTER. PLEASE CONSIDER RECALLING THIS ON THE 2010 MODELS AS I SEE THERE ARE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS HAPPENING TO THE 2010 MERCURY MILAN. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT IT GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HAVING A WRECK.
I DRIVE A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. YESTERDAY (01/21/21) & WITHOUT WARNING THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE POPPED UP ON MY DASH BOARD JUST AS I MADE IT TO THE STORE. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND HAD NO POWER STEERING. I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL!! MY CAR ISN'T DRIVABLE RIGHT NOW. I HOPE THERE'S A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I JUST PAID THE VEHICLE LOAN OFF DAYS AGO.
CAN NOT RESTORE BRAKES TRIED REPLACING MASTERCYCLINDER AND ABS ALSO BLEED ABS AND MASTER CYLINDER STILL NO BRAKES
POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING. POWER STEERING DOESN'T WORK.
WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WASN'T ABLE TO OPEN FROM INSIDE. I HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE HANDLE. I FIND THIS TO BE A HAZARD IF AN EMERGENCY WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. MY CAR WAS IN OFF POSITION AFTER PARKING AND REMOVING KEY OUT OF IGNITION.
MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AT A SHOPPING CENTER WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON OUR 2010 MILAN. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS WARNING NOTIFICATIONS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE WARNING LIGHTS INDICATED TO SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. I HAVE READ THAT THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH 2011 MILAN'S AND ABOVE BUT NOT THE 2010. WERE THE SAME STEERING COMPONENTS INSTALLED IN THE 2010 AS IN THE 2011 AND ABOVE. I'M THANKFUL THAT MY WIFE WAS JUST IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS TOOK PLACE AND NO ON THE EXPRESS WAY. CURRENTLY AT THE FORD DEALER. WAITING TO SEE WHAT THE COST WILL BE TO REPAIR !!!!! DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIE BEFORE FORD WILL INCLUDE THE 2010 MILAN FOR THIS POWER STEERING PROBLEM.
Prior to incident I had a light come on power steering assist fail I would turn the car off and it would go away and didn’t have any issues. I was on a curvy county road leaving work and I got about a block away from job and going about 45 mph when my car starts ringing and said power steering assist fault and my steering was completely locked up I had to slam my brakes before I went off the road. Very scary I also had another light come on as I was sitting parked saying service advancetrac. Thankfully I wasn’t injured and it happens right before a sharp curve. It’s nearly impossible to turn the wheel. This could have been deadly. I had to get my car towed home. I called the Ford dealer about it and was informed it would need a rack and pinion and reprogramming that could cost me thousands of dollars. After researching the issue this has been a recall on many of the Mercury and fords and for some reason my year model is not included. Very dissatisfied with all the recalls I’ve already had. The purge valve almost got me killed in an intersection and caused my car to seize up in the middle of a busy hwy and would not go, like it wasn’t getting gas. I paid to have it fixed and about 8 months later they recalled it.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY STEER TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE. FORD MOTOR CO. ADDRESSED THE ISSUE IN 2011 MODELS, BUT NOT IN 2010 MODELS. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ACROSS VARIOUS CAR FORUMS FOR THIS ISSUE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN THE SERVICE ADVANTRAC MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH AND SHE LOST ALL STEERING CONTROL. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED BEFORE HITTING ANYTHING. I HAVE NOTICED THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS WHEN COLD STARTING THE CAR AND TAKING OFF IN IT THE STEERING HAS BEEN FIGHTING BACK WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A SHARP TURN. I THOUGHT IT JUST HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE COLD TEMPERATURES AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID. THE CAR HAS AROUND 149,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS NOT IN THE CAR WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED SO I CAN'T GIVE ANY MORE DETAILS THAN THIS AT THIS MOMENT.
POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC LOCKED ON ME TWICE WHILE DRIVING FIRST TIME I WAS ON EXPRESS WAY AND HIT WALL 2ND TIME I KNEW WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN AND OF COURSE STEERING LOCKED AND I ALMOST CRASHED AGAIN THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE MY RESEARCH SHOWS ME FOLKS HAVE DIED FROM THIS BUT BECAUSE IT'S NOT ENOUGH DEATHS IT WON'T BE RECALLED THIS IS CRAZY WHY RECALL 2011 THAT HAS SAME PART AND NOT 2010
MY MERCURY MILAN HAS 124,000 MILES ON IT AND I JUST EXPERIENCED THE SOFT BRAKE PROBLEM WHILE PARKING MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AT A SLOW SPEED AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. NOW WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE PEDAL GOES ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP NOW AND HAS NOT RETURNED TO NORMAL. I CALLED FORD DIRECT AFTER CONTACTING MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR DOES NOT FALL WITH IN THE DATE RANGE FROM MANUFACTURING (6 MOS) FOR THE FORD ISSUED RECALL NUMBER 19S54. THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THIS IS AN OWNERS EXPENSE NOW. CLEARLY THE BOSCH HCU PARTS FORD INSTALLS ARE DEFECTIVE AND AND THEY SHOULD COVER THE COST. I JUST RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE OF ALMOST A $1000 TO REPLACE THE HCU AND FLUSH THE BREAK SYSTEM. I AM AT A LOST FOR WORDS IN HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS.
MY PASSENGER REAR LIGHTS FLICKER OR DON'T WORK AT ALL. HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BEFORE! SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THEY ARE EXPENSIVE AND ALL LED
I PARKED MY CAR 2 DAYS AGO IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND THE NEXT MORNING I WOKE UP I COULD NOT MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL, MY CAR DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' I CAN NO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY. THE CONTACT COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND REVERSE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT STEERING THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT FLAT HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH THE THROTTLE SUDDENLY REVVED UP AND REMAINED REVVED UP AS I REMOVED FOOT FROM GAS PEDAL VISUALLY CHECKED THAT IT WAS IN DRIVE AND THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WASN'T ON, AND IT WAS IN DRIVE AND CRUISE WAS T TURNED ON. I TAPPED THE GAS PEDAL, THEN TAPPED 3 QUICK TIMES, TAPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS AFTER I TAPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL IT QUIT REVVING UP AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL, DECELERATED BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE MY FOOT ON EITHER PEDAL. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS.
THE CAR BRAKES NO LONGER WORK, REPLACED BRAKE PADS AND CALIPERS AND STILL NO BRAKES. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS A RECALL IN PLACE AND STILL NO FIX. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A LIGHT POST THEN THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY WENT BACKWARDS DUE TO THE IMPACT APPROXIMATELY 6 FEET. THE ENGINE AND THE RADIATOR WERE PUNCTURED DUE TO THE IMPACT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE UNDRIVABLE. THE CONTACT WENT TO A DOCTOR WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED SHE SUSTAINED NECK AND MINOR BRUISING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 182,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND ELECTRIC STABILIZER LIGHTS CAME ON, WHICH RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF FULL BRAKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC; HE DISCOVERED THAT THE ABS PUMP WAS LEAKING. I PURCHASED A USED ABS PUMP, AND AFTER INSTALLING IT, THE MECHANIC HAD NO SUCCESS RESETTING THE CODES. HE TOLD ME IT COULD BE THAT THE PART IS A USED ONE, SO I ORDERED A NEW ABS PUMP FROM PARTS MAVEN FORD. AFTER INSTALLING THE NEW PART, THE MECHANIC HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH IT AS WELL. THE MECHANIC IS NOT ABLE TO CLEAR OR RESET ALL CODES FOR THE ELECTRIC STABILIZER, ABS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS AND ADEQUATELY CALIBRATE THE BRAKES. IT LEFT THE BRAKE VERY SOFT ON THE PEDAL, AND IT REQUIRED PRESSING THE BRAKE HARD TO THE FLOOR TO BRING THE CAR TO A FULL STOP. WHAT'S WORST, WHEN MOVING FROM THE PARK, THE CAR WOULD ROLL FORWARD OR BACKWARD AND IS NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE AS IT OUGHT TO DO. IT TAKES LONGER TO STOP, AND IT REQUIRES PRESSING HARD ON THE BRAKE AND LONGER DISTANCE TO COME TO A FULL STOP. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THE MECHANIC FOUND OUT THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR OWNERS WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM MENTIONED ABOVE TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES FIX FOR FREE AT A FORD REPAIR SHOP. I CONTACTED FORD ON 10/12/20 ONLY TO BE TOLD BY THE FORD REPAIR SHOP AND ON AN ONLINE CHAT WITH A FORD REP THAT MY CAR, WHILE IT'S ONE OF THE VEHICLES LISTED IN THE RECALL, IS NOT APPLICABLE DUE TO MY VIN#. IT IS VERY TROUBLESOME BECAUSE FORD ONLY LIMITED THE RECALL TO SOME 2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID AND NOT TO MINE. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THEY ADMITTED TO KNOWING ABOUT AND IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN FIX IT, YET THEY REFUSE TO INCLUDE MY CAR. SINCE I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE USE OF MY CAR FOR OVER ONE MONTH, I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE IT TO A FORD REPAIR SHOP AND GET IT TO FIX AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND WILL FOLLOW-UP WITH A LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD TO GET MY MONEY REIMBURSED.
CAR LOOSES ALL POWER ENGINE SHUTTERS AND SPUTTERS VERY DANGEROUS! THROTTLE BODY CODE CAME UP WITH MY MECHANIC TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT NOW . HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES THIS PAST MONTH FORD TOLD ME A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS AT FAULT THAT HAS BEEN FIXED WITH NO IMPROVEMENT OF CAR BASICALLY SHUTTING DOWN ..LIMP MODE FOR SAFETY ??? FORD ! YOU DRIVE THIS CAR 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN LIMP MODE IGAGES PRETTY SCARY !! YOUR GOING TO KILL PEOPLE !

MEEGAN FORD INC (119 STATE ST, MOUNT PLEASANT, PA 15666 (724) 547-3552) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 173,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED.*JB CONSUMER STATED FAILURE WAS EXACT FAILURE OF VEHICLES 2011 AND UP.
VEHICLE STALL WHILE SITTING AT LIGHT - CAR IN DRIVE. CAR NEEDED TO BE RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROW AND FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GAS AND ACCELERATE. LET CAR SIT FOR AWHILE, RESTARTED AND IT STALLED. OTHER TIMES WHILE IDLE - CAR IN PARK, ENGINE SURGES. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED BY OTHERS.
I WAS DRIVING THE SHORT DISTANCE HOME WHEN MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE BACK AND FORTH. THE ERROR LIGHT CAME ON STATING THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE CHECKED. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON, THE CAR NO LONGER ALLOWED THE POWER STEERING TO DRIVE. THE ELECTRIC RACK AND PINION FOR MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER MERCURY MILANS BUT MY PARTICULAR CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME RECALL EVEN WITH THE SAME OCCURANCE.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT KEEPS POPPING UP AND IT'S SUPER HARD TO TURN AND IT'S UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY
WHEN BRAKING TO SLOW DOWN OR GET TO A STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL PRESSED DOWN BUT THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO STOP AS QUICK AS IT SHOULD HAVE. A WHILE LATER, WHEN HAVING TO BRAKE QUICKLY, THE CAR HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE INFRONT OF IT. THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON A CITY ROAD. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BECAUSE THE OTHER CAR'S BUMPER HAD MINOR DAMAGE UNLIKE MY CAR WHICH THE FRONT & HOOD OF HAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.THE REPAIR ESTIMATE FOR ME WAS ABOUT 4K DOLLARS WHICH IS HIGHER THAN I CAN AFFORD.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATOR, 126,000 MILES, $2200 REPAIR ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR & RACK ASSEMBLY. DEALERSHIP SAID ITS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL BUT THE RECALLS ONLY COVERED '11-'15. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOLD ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL SO THEY WOULDN'T OFFER ANY REIMBURSEMENT.
DRIVING ON PARKWAY IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA WHEN THE POWER STEERING DEFAULT LIGHT COME ON AND COULDN'T STEER IT AT ALL AND MEMORIAL PARKWAY IS ALWAYS VERY BUSY. COULDN'T EVEN GET IN A TURNING LANE TO GET OFF OF THE PARKWAY. TOOK ME TWO HRS TO DRIVE 10 MILES AND FINALLY GOT IT INTO THE PARKING LOT AT THE MAINTENANCE SHOP. LIKE TO HAVE NEVER GOT IT TO A SHOP. IMAGINE A 72 YR OLD ELDERLY LADY TRYING TO ENTER THE PARKING LOT OF A MAINTENANCE SHOP. I REALLY NEED SOME HELP TO REPLACE A POWER STEERING.

The vehicle just slowed to a stop. I just nursed it to a repair shop!

SHORTLY HAVING THE AIRBAG REPLACED UNDER RECALL, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER SAID IS WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL WORK AND THE SYSTEM WAS SHOWING FAULT CODES FOR THE CRASH SENSOR, DEPLOYMENT, AND PRETTY MUCH EVERY CIRCUIT.

MY 17 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING HIS MERCURY MILAN PREMIER WITH ONLY 96,000 MILES ON THE ROAD WHEN THE STEERING ASSIST FAILURE INDICATOR CAME ON. HE PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. HE CALLED ME ON THE PHONE AND I INSTRUCTED HIM TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON. AT THAT POINT HE LOST ALL POWER STEERING ON THE CAR. HE IS LUCKY THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN THE WINTER. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST. FORD HAS ISSUED RECALLS ON THE 2011 BUT 2010. THE PART FROM THE DEALER IS 1,155 PLUS THE LABOR WILL COST AROUND 2100 DOLLARS. SHAME ON FORD FOR NOT RECALLING THE 2010! SAFETY SHOULD COME FIRST!! THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR ABS BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED ALTHOUGH IT HAS THE SAME ISSUES AS THE OTHER CARS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED.
OUR 2010 MERCURY MILAN HAS 45,000 MILES. AS WE WERE BACKING OUT OF OUR GARAGE, A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE DISPLAYED IN THE MESSAGE CENTER, AND ALL POWER STEERING HAD STOPPED. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO BE CHECKED, AND THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING MECHANISM HAD TO BE REPLACED. WE LEARNED THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH 2010-2014 MODELS, HOWEVER, THE 2010 MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ALONG WITH THE 2011 AND NEWER MODELS. WITH ALL OF THE DATA PROVING THAT THE 2010 MERCURY MILANS HAD THE SAME FAULTY POWER STEERING, WE NEED TO KNOW WHY THEY WEREN?T INCLUDED. OUR BILL TO REPAIR THIS WAS $1948.31. WE ARE VERY THANKFUL THAT IT HAPPENED IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND NOT ON THE ROAD WHERE SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. KNOWING THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL, AND THERE ARE OTHER 2010 MILANS OUT THERE ON THE ROAD WITH THIS ISSUE IS VERY SCARY. PLEASE HIGHLY CONSIDER ADDING THIS TO THE RECALL LIST. Power steering has failed multiple times on the vehicle. The dashboard displays 'power steering assist fault' and the steering wheel is locked. This is very dangerous and this vehicle is driven my my 80 year old mother.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE BRAKES ARE STICKING BETWEEN STOPPED AND GO. THE MAIN QUESTION HERE TO BE ANSWERED; IS THE ABS VALVE AND THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WORKING PROPERLY? CURRENTLY THE CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FORD RECALL 19S54. THE RECALL FOR THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER ALL MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES. THE TESTING AND OR REPLACEMENT OF THE HCU IS CRITICAL FOR ALL MILAN OWNERS SAFETY. I WAS TOLD AT MY DEALERSHIP THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AND THE ABS LIGHT ISN'T ON SO THERE ISN'T ANY PROBLEM.
