WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THE ADVANCED TRACTION CONTROL FUNCTIONS BOTH ALARMED AND STOPPED WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO WORK, BUT NOW I CANNOT STEER AT ALL. BOTH WARNING LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED AND BOTH FUNCTIONS CONTINUE TO NOT WORK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE WAS INCREASED. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE DROVE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE CONTACT, A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *TT
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY. WET ROAD THE CAR WOULD SLIDE ON CURVE ROADS IN SNOW THE CAR LOOSES POWER AND WON'T BARELY MOVES RPM GO DOWN. THE STEERING WHEEL WON'T MOVE IN REVERSE SOMETIMES. TIRES GET WORN OUT EVERY 4 TO 6 WEEKS WIRES SHOW TO TIRE ON THE IN SIDE . STEERING DON'T LOCK WHEN CAR IS OFF AND KEY OUT. CAR SALES ME TO TAKE KEY OUT WHILE ITS IN GEAR. AND CAR CAN BE SHIFT IN GEAR AND STEER WHEN KEY IS NOT IN. DIDN'T DO THIS WHEN I GOT IT. ONCE AND A WHILE POWER TRAIN LIGHT COMES ON AND ITS STUCK IN LOW GEAR.
"TAKATA RECALL" IN JULY 2016, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FROM FORD ADVISING THAT THE AIR BAG INFLATORS WERE DEFECTIVE. I JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER FROM FORD DATED DECEMBER 2017 ADVISING THAT IT WAS UNSAFE FOR ANYONE TO OCCUPY THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REVISION IS COMPLETE. I FIND THIS TO BE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS IS OUR ONLY FAMILY CAR. I SUGGEST THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY FURNISH REPLACEMENT CARS WITH WORKING AIR BAGS TO THOSE OF US AFFECTED, AT THEIR EXPENSE UNTIL THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IN MY CAR IS REPAIRED. SINCE WE ARE NOW BEING ADVISED THAT A FRONT PASSENGER INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION COULD BE FATALLY INJURED, WE HAVE LOST THE SAFE USE OF OUR CAR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE SEE WARNING ON DECEMBER 2017 RECALL LETTER.
TAKATA INFLATORS - WE RECEIVED A NOTICE OVER A YEAR AGO THAT REPLACEMENT WOULD BE IN SPRING 2017. WAITED AND CALLED SEVERAL TIMES - NOW A SECOND LETTER IT IS SPRING 2018. THE DESIRED OPTION IS FOR PASSENGERS IN FRONT SEAT NEEDING TO SIT IN BACK SEAT - DIDN'T SPEND ALL THIS MONEY, WAIT THIS LONG ONLY TO WAIT SO MORE - WHAT ARE OPTIONS TO GET THIS DONE SOONER SINCE WE HAVE ALREADY BEEN WAITING TWO YEARS.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS, IN CASE OF A CAR CRASH THEY WILL RUPTURE. I CALLED A FORD DEALER AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT MATERIAL. WHAT IF I GET IN A CAR ACCIDENT TODAY? HE SAID THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THIS REPLACEMENT MATERIAL THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE!
THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD EXCESSIVE TRAVEL. WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE, THE PEDAL WOULD NOT HOLD STEADY, BUT WOULD DRIFT TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WOULD SLOW DOWN AND STOP, BUT WHEN SLOWING FROM A RELATIVELY HIGH SPEED, IT WAS NECESSARY TO "PUMP" THE BRAKE PEDAL. ONE WOULD HAVE TO WONDER IF TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WOULD EVENTUALLY OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR SEVERAL DAYS, AS NO REASON FOR THE PROBLEM COULD BE DETERMINED. EVENTUALLY THEY CONTACTED FORD FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THEIR TESTS, THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE, WHICH WAS BYPASSING BRAKE FLUID INTERNALLY, AND IT WAS REPLACED. WHILE IT HAS ONLY BEEN A FEW DAYS SINCE THE REPAIR, THE BRAKE PERFORMANCE IS MUCH IMPROVED. I CHECKED ONLINE AND SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH FORD FUSIONS AND MERCURY MILANS HAVING BRAKE FAILURE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. DRIVERS OF MY VEHICLE, EVEN AFTER REPAIR, ANTICIPATE POTENTIAL BRAKE PROBLEMS WHEN WE DRIVE.
My head lights are NOT sufficient. It does not have the option for 2 bulbs. I have changed out the bulbs 3 times while owning this vehicle and from the first night I drove it after owning it, I noticed the lights where very off. I drive around town and on dark roads where there is NO Road LIGHTS at night with my head lights on Bright and I DO NOT get brighted back. I have hit an animal due to the lights not being bright. I fear driving the car at night or where it's to dark because the light assembly is not proper. No warning lights.
AS I WAS DRIVING, CHIME SOUNDED AND SERVICE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC MESSAGE DISPLAYED AND WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND DID A QUICK CHECK UNDER HOOD AND UNDER VEHICLE. WHEN I FOUND NOTHING I RESTARTED VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO RE-ENTER ROADWAY, CHIME ONCE AGAIN SOUNDED AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC NOW MESSAGES AND LIGHTS ILLUMINATED BUT NOW ALL POWER ASSIST TO STEERING WAS LOST MAKING FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE FUEL TANK WILL BE INSPECTED FOR CRACKS, AND WILL BE REPLACED AS NECESSARY. 3. THE VEHICLE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES WILL BE REFLASHED WITH NEW SOFTWARE STRATEGY. FORD PROVIDED THE GENERAL REIMBURSEMENT PLAN FOR THE COST OF REMEDIES PAID FOR BY VEHICLE OWNERS PRIOR TO NOTIFICATION OF A SAFETY RECALL IN FEBRUARY 2015. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AT A STEADY 30 MPH AND HIT THE BRAKES ON LIGHT ICE WHEN APPROACHING A RED LIGHT. THE ANTILOCK BRAKES ACTIVATED FOR ABOUT ONE-HALF SECOND, AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, WITH ONLY THE MOST MINIMAL BRAKING OCCURRING IN THE VERY LAST INCH OF PEDAL TRAVEL. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO CROSS TRAFFIC ENTERING THE INTERSECTION AT THE TIME AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LINCOLN DEALER WHO SAID THE ABS MODULE HAD FAILED, AS HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER. AT NO POINT DURING THE EVENT, OR AFTERWARD, DID ANY BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AND NO WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD TEXTUAL DISPLAY, DESPITE THE CAR HAVING VIRTUALLY NO BRAKES. THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP FOR FIVE DAYS AND I WAS CHARGED $1,686.66. AT NO POINT PRIOR TO THE FAILURE DID THE BRAKES EXHIBIT ANY ISSUES WHAT-SO-EVER. IT WAS A SUDDEN AND FULL BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PRIOR WARNING AND NO DASHBOARD INDICATORS OF BRAKE FAILURE AFTERWARD.

REAR TAIL LIGHT FAILURE. WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE ON TAIL LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED..
CAR WAS HAVING NO PROBLEMS UNTIL 30 SECONDS AFTER I PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE CAR STARTED BEEPING AND FLASHING THE WARNING SIGN 'SERVICE ADVANCETRAC'IN YELLOW LETTERS AND THEN A MINUTE LATER IT BEEPED AND SAID 'SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW' IN BOLD RED LETTERS. I PARKED MY CAR AT WORK AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO BUDGE. HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED.
TAKATA RECALL PLUS OTHERS FOR MERCURY MILAN 2010 MANUFACTURED IN 02 AND 03/2010. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ALL THE TIME THE ERRORS OCCURRED.

REAR PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED EVEN WHILE BRAKE PADDLE IS ENGAGED... BASICALLY I HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS... ALSO FUEL RECALLS STILL HASNT BEEN DONE ON MY VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE AUTO TRACK INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER AT 1-800-521-4140, BUT THE CONTACT HUNG UP DURING THE CALL. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,009.

WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER BUT WHEN WE TRY TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING THE CAR IN THEY SAY SOMEONE WILL GET BACK TO US AND THEY NEVER DO.

THE SENSORY RESTRAIN SYSTEM (AE5Z14B321A) WENT BAD ON A CAR THAT HAS SAT FOR MOST OF ITS LIFE. I RECEIVED THE CAR FROM MY GRANDMA WITH AROUND 8000 MILES ON IT. THIS WE BAD WITH ABOUT 11900 MILES. I RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND OUT THIS WAS A COMMON PART GOING BAD. THERE WAS NEVER RECALLS DONE BECAUSE THE PART WENT BAD WITH MOST PEOPLE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THIS ONE PART AND LABOR COST ME ALMOST 1000.00. 1000.00 FOR A PART THAT WAS COMMONLY BREAKING. BUT BECAUSE IT SAT FOR SO LONG THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND I AM LEFT WITH A HUGE EXPENSE TO A PART THAT WAS COMMONLY BREAKING. TO WHAT WENT WRONG. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, WRENCH LIGHT, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I AM 6 MONTHS PREGNANT AND HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD IN MY CAR AND I GOT TOLD THAT THIS CAUSED ALL SECURITY FEATURES TO BE TURNED OFF. IF I WAS TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT MY FAMILY AND I WOULD OF NOT BEEN PROTECTED. BUT THIS IS A COMMON PART GOING BAD BUT NO ONE SAID ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY WENT BAD WHEN EVERYONE HAD WARRANTY.
I HAVE TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE POWER STEERING AND IT'S ALWAYS REQUIRING POWER STEERING MAINTENANCE, THE STEERING WHEEL GOT STIFF WHILE DRIVING.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. FINE DURING DRIVE ON HIGHWAY AND WENT OUT ON CITY STREET WHILE GOING INTO A TURN GOING LEFT.
PICKED MY CAR UP AT MY WIFE'S JOB WHO WAS USING IT. IN THE PARKING LOT, STARTED THE CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO TURN, THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND RECEIVED A "POWER ASSIST FAULT" NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH.
STARTED CAR, MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE PANEL, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" NOW I CANNOT GET IT TO SHIFT OR THE STIRRING WHEEL TO TURN. THIS STARTED ON 8/20/2017. I WAS PARKED ON THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOME.
EXACT SAME ISSUE AS REPORTED IN 2007-2009 MERCURY MILAN. BRAKES ARE SUPER SOFT AFTER I HAD BRAND NEW BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS PUT ON AND HAD THE LINES BLED FOR ANY AIR IN THEM. I ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO THIS ISSUE A FEW TIMES WITH ONE BEING ALMOST DEADLY. I WAS DRIVING ROUGHLY 55 MILES AN HOUR ON A HIGHWAY WHEN I TRIED STOPPING AND THE BRAKES BASICALLY GAVE OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH AND ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK FROM IT. THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO BE SUPER SOFT AND IT REQUIRES A LOT OF DISTANCE TO MAKE SURE MY CAR STOPS ON STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN TIME. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND I BASICALLY CANNOT DRIVE MY ONLY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE.
THE CAR WAS INSIDE AN ATTACHED GARAGE WITH CHILDREN BUCKLED INTO THEIR CARSEATS. MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE DRIVER SEAT. I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE CAR WAVING BYE TO THE KIDS. WHEN MY HUSBAND STARTED THE CAR, WE HEARD AN ODD SOUND, THEN SAW SMOKE AND FLAME COMING FROM BETWEEN THE CARSEATS. WE GOT THE KIDS OUT, AND I CALLED 911 WHILE MY HUSBAND POPPED THE TRUNK AND PUT THE GARDEN HOSE ON THE FLAMES. THE HYBRID BATTERY WAS ON FIRE. WHEN FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED, THEY SPRAYED FIRE RETARDANT FOAM ON THE CAR AND PUSHED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE. THE FIRE BURNED THROUGH THE BACK SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CARSEAT MY SON HAD BEEN SITTING IN WAS BURNED THROUGH AS WELL.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE LAST YEAR IN JULY 2016. REQUESTING STATUS ON WHEN THIS RECALL WILL BE COMPLETED BY FORD. IT HAS BEEN OVER ONE YEAR AND WITH CURRENT MEDICAL CONDITIONS HAVE SOME RESERVATIONS ABOUT DRIVING A CAR WITH POSSIBLE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. SAFETY RECALL 16S26/NHTSA RECALL 16V-384

LTD FORD IN CENTRALIA, ILLINOIS WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT FOUND A RECALL FOR THE MODEL YEARS 2010 - 2012, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY ROAD WITH WARNING TO SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. MY BOYFRIEND HAD TO DRIVE US HOME SINCE THE STEERING WAS TOO HARD FOR ME TO DRIVE.
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD THAT TELLS YOU THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IS OFF MAKING THE WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO TURN AND DRIVING SAFELY IMPOSSIBLE.
FUEL TANK & CANISTER PURGE VALVE RECALL - 15S34 RECALL - VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED FOR RECALL IN AUGUST 2016 AND PASSED THE RECALL AND THE RECALL WAS CLOSED BY FORD. IN JULY 2017, THE VEHICLE HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MESSAGE TO CHECK FUEL TANK INLET THAT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF IN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE WAS RELATED TO THE EVAP SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME FORD DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL IN 2016. THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE FAILED AND THE FUEL FILLER PIPE HAD LEAKS AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SUBMITTED A 360 CLAIM FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR. THE 360 CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUTSIDE THE 7 YEARS OF SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE CLAIM BECAUSE THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN CLOSED.
AT 71,000 MILES VEHICLE DEVELOPED FAILURE OF ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THIS LEAD TO CAR ENTERING "LIMP HOME" MODE. OCCURRED IN BUSY TRAFFIC EXPOSING PASSENGERS TO POTENTIAL RISK - NO INJURY OCCURRED. FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED ETB DEFECTS IN 2010 MILAN VIA THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13NO3. HOWEVER THIS PROGRAM DOES NOT APPLY TO HYBRIDS. EVENT BEING REPORTED TO LEND CREDENCE TO POTENTIAL THAT ISSUE ALSO EXTENDS TO HYBRID MODEL(S).
ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND INTERMITTENTLY SMELLED GAS OR GOT FUEL FILL CHECK INDICATOR. UPON DIAGNOSTIC MIL P0455 AND P0457. CANISTER PURGE VALVE HAD TO BE REPLACED PAID $300. GOING THROUGH MY RECORDS I FOUND THAT ON APRIL 5,2016, I HAD A RECALL 15S34 FUEL TANK AND CANISTER PURGE VALVE INSPECTION COMPLETED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF CRACKS OR LEAKS SO ONLY RECALIBRATION WAS COMPLETED. NOW LESS THAN 10,000 MILES LATER A REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED. AWAITING REVIEW FOR A REFUND FROM FORD DEALERSHIP
