TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMERGED FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED AND PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER WHEN HE NOTICED THAT A SECOND LUG NUT DETACHED FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THE FIRST LUG NUT DETACHED FROM THE SAME WHEEL ON JULY 1, 2017. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE OWNER WAS ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK FUEL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTO ZONE WERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE QUIRK FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. A YEAR PRIOR TO THE FAILURES, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND FOUND TO HAVE NO LEAKS. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
POWER STEERING ASSIST HAS PROBLEMS. POWER STEERING LOCKS UP AND CAR THEN CAN'T BE STEERED. HAPPENS SOMETIME IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT. FORD REFUSES TO FIX IT. EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM. THEY EVEN HAVE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITES AGAINST THEM FOR IT.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE ROAD AND DROVE OVER A POTHOLE. AS I PRESSED THE BREAK PEDAL, THE PEDAL VIBRATED AND WENT "SOFT." I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TWO TIMES, THE BRAKES RETURN TO NORMAL IN A ABOUT 15-30 MINUTES, BUT AFTER THE THIRD TIME, THE BREAKS STOOD "SOFT." I TALKED TO SERVICE SPECIALIST AT A FORD DEALER AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. MY INVESTIGATION LEAD TO THIS PROBLEM AFFECTING MILANS FROM 2009 AND BELOW. WELL MINE IS A 2010 AND IT ALSO HAS THIS ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER (JORGENSON FORD, 8333 MICHIGAN AVENUE, DETROIT, MI 48210) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 144,000.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECIEVED NOTICE OF RECALL IN JUNE 2016 AND I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET AIRBAG REPLACED. EVERYTIME I CALL DEALERSHIP IM TOLD THE PARTS IS NOT AVAILABLLE. THAT IS TO DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE RIDING AROUND WITH. BUT IT IS YOUR ONLY CAR.
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN, IN 2015 FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I'M DRIVING ALONG AND THE CAR STARTS HESITATING THEN STARTS BUCKING LIKE CRAZY AND CONKS OUT. I START THE CAR BACK UP AND IT DRIVES FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT DOES IT AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND ALMOST RECENTLY GOT ME IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND TURNING LANE OF A VERY BUSY ROAD CROSSING OVER 2 LANES & STARTED TO PROCEED AS THE CAR STARTED HESITATING, SLOWED DOWN AND CONKED OUT. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I CALLED FORD TODAY TO FIND OUT IF IT WAS STILL A COVERED ITEM AND WAS TOLD IT WAS UNDER THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM FOR A ONE TIME FIX, WHICH I ALREADY HAD. SO NOW IT'S MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OF A DEFECTIVE PART?? THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. THE COMPLAINTS ARE STILL ROLLING IN ON THE MILAN'S AND SEVERAL OTHER FORD VEHICLES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. VAN BORTEL FORD (71 MARSH RD, EAST ROCHESTER, NY 14445, (585) 586-4415) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. *TT *JS
I WAS ON MY WAY BACK FROM A TRIP AND MY CAR STALLED OUT MULTIPLE TIMES. I WOULD BE GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IT WOULD JUST CUT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET INTO THE SERVICE LANE AND RESTART THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEM, BUT THEN IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. AFTER 7 TIMES OF THIS HAPPENING IN ABOUT AN HOUR, I EVENTUALLY PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR A TOW. I DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MERCURY CARS IN MY MODEL YEAR DUE TO FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ISSUES. BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS SO WIDESPREAD, FORD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WOULD COVER A THROTTLE BODY REPAIR FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. BASED ON THIS INFORMATION, IT SEEMED LIKE MY CAR WOULD BE COVERED. HOWEVER, AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CLAIMED THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE MY VIN DOESN'T MATCH THE LISTS AND ESTIMATED THE REPAIR AT $500-$700. THIS IS COMPLETELY CRAZY TO ME BECAUSE IT OBVIOUSLY HAPPENS TO CARS LIKE MINE AND HAS BEEN FIXED BY THE COMPANY AT NO COST. I BELIEVE I SHOULD ALSO RECEIVE THAT BENEFIT. I TALKED TO THE COMPANY AND HAVE LODGED A FORMAL COMPLAINT, AND I WILL ALSO BE SENDING A LETTER BECAUSE THIS IS JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE. STALLING ON A HIGHWAY GOING 70+ IS DANGEROUS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED HAD I BEEN HIT.
AS I WAS PREPARING TO EXIT A PARKING LOT, DRIVING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED AND TURNING, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY. I WAS STILL IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I PULLED OVER TO SHUT THE DOOR, BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH AT FIRST. IT TOOK A FEW TRIES TO FINALLY GET IT TO LATCH. LATER THAT EVENING WHEN MY HUSBAND CAME HOME FROM WORK, HE NOTICED THE SAME DOOR WAS OPEN, AS MY CAR SAT PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. AGAIN, IT TOOK A FEW TRIES FOR HIM TO GET IT TO LATCH CLOSED.
WHILE MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, EVERY TIME THAT I HIT A LARGE BUMP OR HAVE TO ENGAGE THE ABS SYSTEM BY HAVING TO STOP VERY QUICKLY, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES SO SOFT THAT EVEN TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT AFTER GOING AT LOW RATES OF SPEED, I HAVE TO PUSH IT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR SO THAT I CAN COME TO A FULL STOP. THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY CORRECTS ITSELF, BUT IT TAKES AT LEAST A FEW HOURS AND SOMETIMES UP TO A DAY OR MORE. THIS CAN HAPPEN IN ALL ANY DRIVING CONDITION (CITY STREET, HIGHWAY, DRIVEWAY, ETC...), AND AT ANY SPEED (AS LOW AS 5 MPH). I RECENTLY READ THAT 2007-2009 MODELS WERE BEING INVESTIGATED FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON, AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE 2010 MODEL WAS ADDED TO THE LIST BECAUSE I FEEL VERY UN-SAFE DRIVING MY CAR SOMETIMES, AND THE ABS SYSTEM IS SUCH A VITAL COMPONENT TO A SAFE DRIVE. ALSO, AFTER READING THE NEXT PAGE, THE MOST RECENT INSTANCE HAPPENED JUST YESTERDAY (5/21/17), BUT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JANUARY OF 2011. MY MECHANIC HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO EXPERIENCE IT, SO HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, BUT FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROLLER IS THE FAULTY PART. CAN YOU PLEASE PUT A RE-CALL OUT ON THIS??

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OXMOOR FORD LINCOLN (100 OXMOOR LN, LOUISVILLE, KY 40222, (502) 426-2500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW FUEL TANK WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER ALSO FOUND THAT THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NEW BRAKES WERE INSTALLED; HOWEVER, FRONT BRAKES WERE INSTALLED INSTEAD OF REAR BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE LEAKED FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KAISER MILLER FORD IN COLLEGEVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE PART FOR THE REPAIR WAS ON BACKORDER FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPS AND THE CAR BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. IT HAS ALSO OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. VERY DANGEROUS!
I JUST NOTICED THAT I NOW HAVE A MISSING WHEEL STUD AND LUG NUT ON BOTH OF MY FRONT WHEELS. THIS CAR DOES HAVE THE 17" STEEL WHEELS. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR STUDS BREAKING BACK IN 2011, 11S23, AND ACCORDING TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE STUDS WERE INSPECTED AND LUGS NUTS WERE REPLACED BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 2011. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 86,805 MILES ON IT. THE LAST TIRE ROTATION WAS JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO AT 75,114 MILES AND WAS DONE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. AT THAT POINT I PAID TO HAVE ONE OF THE FRONT WHEEL STUDS REPLACE BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS STRIPPED OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND STRUCK THE CURB SLIGHTLY. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO A FUEL STATION. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,200.
MY 2010 MILLAN WITH ONLY 45,000 MILES ON IT, WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN CAUSING HER TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SHE COULD STOP IT. WENT TO GOOGLE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD ISSUES, SAW RECALL: 15S18 WAS ISSUED BUT FOR ONLY 2011 MILLANS PLUS. ALL ERROR CODES WERE SAME AS LISTED ON RECALL, DEALER IS CHARGING ME 1400 DOLLARS AND THEN TOLD ME IF CAR HAD BEEN 1 YEAR NEWER, WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED 100%. JUST WONDERING IF YOU COULD HELP AND SEE IF ISSUE ALSO EFFECTED SAME CAR BEING JUST 1 YEAR OLDER, THANKS FOR ANY HELP

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER OFF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
GOT SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW & SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNINGS AND LOST POWER STEERING AND LOST POWER STEERING. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS TO THE EFFECT INDICATING SERVICE PRIOR TO FAULT. IT WAS A SUDDEN EVENT THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH IF SOMEONE NOT AS STRONG AS I WAS DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE CAR TO KEEP IT WITHIN THE LANES AND DRIVE SAFELY BACK HOME.
WHILE DRIVING, IT BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING (LOST ALL POWER STEERING CAPABILITY). COULD NOT MAKE TURNS AND ALMOST FORCED INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC.

POWER STEERING!!!! ON 03/07/17 MY STEERING WENT OUT. CAR VEERED OFF INTO ONCOMING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND NEARLY MISSED A HEAD ON COLLISION!! NO WARNING MESSAGE OR SIGNAL OF ANY KIND. DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING. DROVE HOME AND DISCONNECTED BATTERY FOR AN HOUR AND STEERING WORKED AGAIN. LEFT OUT OF MY DRIVE AND AS I STARTED TO TURN UNTO ROAD THE STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME, I HIT MY PROPERTY FENCE AND NOW HAVE A FRONT BUMPER THAT IS SMASHED!!! "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE DISPLAYED FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK SYSTEM". LOOKED ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BY FORD AS THEY RECALLED THE 2011 AND 2012 MILANS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME COMPONENTS! THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD IN 2015 FOR THIS VERY SAME COMPLAINT. BOTH NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO STEP UP AND RECOGNIZE THE 2010 HAS THE SAME SAFETY HAZARD AND ITS OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE SAME RECALL (#15V340000) THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS. PLEASE PLEASE LETS ALL START A SECOND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR US 2010 MERCURY MILAN OWNERS THAT ARE BEING SCREWED BY BIG CORPORATE HEADS AND TRUST THAT THEY WILL BE PAYING TO FIX MY STEERING AND MY FRONT BUMPER AND THEY SHOULD BE GLAD IT'S NOT MY LIFE THEY COULD BE PAYING FOR FROM THE FIRST TIME I NEARLY ESCAPED A HEADON COLLISION.

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30MPH ON A STRAIGHT CITY ROAD & THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. THE MESSAGE ABOUT SERVICE POWER STEERING CAME ON, BUT IT SEEMED LIKE THE STEERING CHANGED BEFORE THE MESSAGE POPPED UP. I WAS REQUIRED TO DRIVE AT A VERY SLOW PACE TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR IN CONTROL. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME & JUST WENT BACK THERE TO PARK. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE 2011 MODEL HAD A RECALL & WONDER WHY THE 2010 MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED. I DON'T RECALL 2011 BEING A BIG MODEL CHANGE YEAR FOR THE MILAN. I THINK THEY HAVE SIMILAR POWER STEERING SYSTEMS & COVING 2010 MAY WANT TO BE CONSIDERED. I HAVE AN ESTIMATE OF $350 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE FIX IS MOST LIKELY ANOTHER $1500 OR MORE.

LAWRENCEVILLE FORD LINCOLN MERCURY (2920 BRUNSWICK PIKE, LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. LOOKED ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BY FORD AS THEY RECALLED THE 2011 AND 2012 MILANS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME COMPONENTS! THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD IN 2015 FOR THIS VERY SAME COMPLAINT. BOTH NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO STEP UP AND RECOGNIZE THE 2010 HAS THE SAME SAFETY HAZARD AND ITS OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE SAME RECALL (#15V340000) THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I HAD A HARD TIME STEERING MY CAR AT AN INTERSECTION. WHEN I TRIED STEERING, THE CAR WOULD SHAKE AS I TURNED. ALTHOUGH THE ROADS WERE WET, MY TIRES ARE RELATIVELY NEW, SO I NEW IT WASN'T THE TRACTION. I TURNED OFF THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSISTANCE AND IT STARTED TURNING AGAIN. A FEW DAYS AGO, I WAS TURNING, THE ROADS WERE DAMP, BUT NOT WET AND I HAD MY STEERING ASSIST ON (IT GOES ON BY DEFAULT). WHEN I TUNED, THE CAR WENT THE OPPOSITE WAY OF THE DIRECTION I WAS TURNING. I HAD TO TURN OFF MY STEERING ASSIST IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL OF MY CAR. THERE WERE NO ALARMS, NOTICE OR ALERTS ON MY CONTROL PANEL. ALSO, WHEN IT'S BEEN A HOT DAY OR A COLD DAY, THE CAR WON'T START.

IN FACT, THEY HAVE RECALLED MULTIPLE MODELS AND YEARS BUT EXCLUDED THE 2010 MILAN EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME STEERING SYSTEM!!! I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE PURCHASED AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP EXCEPT TO TOW IT IN AND THEY WILL DIGNOSE. THERE IS A PLETHARA OF COMPLAINTS AND INVESTIGATIONS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. ALL THE INFORMATION I'VE FOUND IS VERY CLEAR..THIS IS SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE ! THIS MUST BE ADDRESSED BY FORD AND CORRECTED.
