THE POWER STEERING IN MY CAR HAS FAILED AND IT IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. THE DASH READS "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" WHEN I TURN IT ON AND I CANNOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR IS STILL BEING FINANCED, YET THE STEERING HAS GONE OUT AND THE COST OF REPAIR IS THROUGH THE ROOF. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON 2011 MERCURY MILAN POWER STEERING FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHY HAVE THE 2010 NOT BEEN RECALLED? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. MY CAR IS WORTHLESS AND UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN OR SOLD.
ADVANCE TRAC SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ..THEN MY CAR STEERING WHEEL GOT LOCK COULDN'T MOVE IT ALL .DROP MY CAR OFF 09/20/16 AND PICK IT UP OCTOBER 21 PAY ABOUT $2000 TO PICK IT UP. IT BROKE DOWN THE SAME DAY, , GOT IT TOW THE SAME DAY. PICK IT UP MONDAY OCT 24,2016 DROVE FINE. OCT 25, 2016 ON MY WAY TO WORK BROKE DOWN AGAIN HAD TO GET TOW OCTOBER 25, 2016 TO THE DEALERSHIP CAPITAL FORD 5411 CHARLOTTE NC HERE NOW WAITING SO ANGRY GETTING THE RUN AROUND. *TR
WHILE IN PROCESS OF A TURN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ABILITIES. IT STARTED TO RETRACT FROM THE TURN THEN LOST THE ABILITY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO OFF AT AN ANGLE AND HIT A PARKED VEHICLE. 2 DAYS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE THAT WOULD NEED ADDRESSING BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING BRIEFLY. AFTER THE ACCIDENT WE DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEMS ON THE VEHICLE BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T PART OF THAT RECALL. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED AND A CLAIM. WE DON'T HAVE THE PAPERWORK YET AS THIS JUST HAPPENED. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES FROM THE ACCIDENT.
TROTTLE ACUTATOR STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION AS THE CAR WAS MOVING ABOUT 25 MPH, PRESSED THE ACCELARATOR BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING,ENGINE WAS AT IDDLE, AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND EVERYTHING WORKED FOR ABOT A MINUTE AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN I GOT HOME AFTER A FEW RESTARTS I HOOKED UP MY COMUPTER TO READ THE OBD CODE THAT CAME ON !! IT WAS CODE P2112 , WITCH IS THE TROTTLE ACUTATOR MODULE !! AFTER RESETING THE OBD CODE IT WAS WORKING FINE ON THE DRIVEWAY. I'LL TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE LATER. IT SEEMS CLEAR THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THE TROTTLE ACUTATOR ON THE TROTTLE BODY !!! A DESIGN FLAW IS VERY POSSIBLE, AND IT PRESENTS A DANGER WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND SPEED. A RECAL SHOULD BE IN THE WORKS FOR FORD !!! I HAVE READ TOO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS 32,000 MILES AND IS A 2010 YEAR.
WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE VEHICLE SOON WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WOULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR. THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OR MANUALLY RESTART THE VEHICLE. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CURED!!! FORD REPAIRED VEHICLE FOR FREE, AS MERCURY MILAN HYBRID IS COVERED FOR 100,000 MILES AND 8 YEARS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REPLACED A PUMP FOR ANTIFREEZE FOR THE HYBRID TRANSMISSION AND THAT CURED THE PROBLEM OF THE YELLOW WRENCH AND THE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE CODE. ALL IS WELL!
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND A MESSAGE APPEARED (POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW). I HAD TO USE GREAT FORCE IN ORDER TO TURN THE WHEEL JUST TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND SAFELY PARK MY VEHICLE. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIRS ARE COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS FOR A PERSON WHO IS FINANCING THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE LATER MODEL MERCURY MILANS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE; HOWEVER, THE 2010 MILANS WERE SOMEHOW LEFT OUT OF THE RECALL AND THAT IS COMPLETELY ASININE. IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IMMEDIATELY IN THAT RECALL.
MY CAR WAS PARKED. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK. I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH TO THE EFFECT: "POWER STEERING DEFAULT." I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN. SAME PROBLEM. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AGAIN AND WAITED TWO OR THREE MINUTES. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO WORK OK. MY WIFE SAYS IT HAS HAPPENED TO HER BEFORE.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) INDICATOR IS ILLUMINATED. I HAVE A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, MY ACCELERATOR STOPS WORKING OR HAS EXTREMELY LIMITED POWER, AND MY ENGINE IDLES ROUGHLY.
2010 MILAN HYBRID LOST POWER ON TWO OCCASIONS IN HEAVY FAST INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. SAFE TO PULLOVER LIGHT ILLUMINATED, MAX SPEED OF 5MPH , DEALER REPLACED 12V BATTERY FIRST TIME. 4 TO SIX MONTHS LATER, SAME DANGEROUS SCENARIO AND ONE MORE TIME TRYING TO GET VEHICLE TO A DEALER.THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE ONLY RECALL WAS ON MODELS AFTER 2010 BEGINNING IN 2011. THE 2010 WERE NEVER RECALLED ALTHOUGH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. 54000 MILES ON VEHICLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON 495 TOWARD SILVER SPRING/GEORGIA AVE. AND THE CALL JUST LOSS ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. THE CAR CRUISED AT ABOUT 5 MILES AN HOUR. AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO SAY THE LEAST. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND HAD TO WORK MY WAY OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I'M TAKING THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON 8/23/2016 FOR DIAGNOSIS. THERE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS REPORTED TO NHTSA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE CASE WAS CLOSED WITHOUT A RECALL. LET ME TELL YOU, THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY REAL BUT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. SOMETHING MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE.
BEGINNING IN JULY 2016, I BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A "POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE" MESSAGE UPON STARTING MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN. GIVEN THAT IT WAS AN INFREQUENT OCCURRENCE, I FOLLOWED THE MANUAL'S INSTRUCTION TO TURN OFF THE CAR, WAIT FOR 10 TO 15 SECONDS AND THEN RESTART IT. THIS ACTION WOULD CLEAR THE ERROR CODE, AND I WOULD BE ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS, THE ERROR MESSAGE HAS OCCURRED MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY. AS SUCH, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO AN ACTUATOR BEING STUCK OPEN. PLEASE CONSIDER ADDING THE 2010 MERCURY MILAN TO THE ALREADY MANDATED RECALL.
YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, INDICATING A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. CAR LURCHED AND ACCELERATED ERRATICALLY, PARTICULARLY WHEN GOING UP HILL WHILE THE ENGINE WAS LABORING. MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIND DIAGNOSTIC CODES. HE CLEANED THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, BUT THAT HAD NO EFFECT ON THE PROBLEM. THE YELLOW WRENCH APPEARS AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING, ANDTHE CAR LURCHES AND CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE ERRATICALLY. WHAT AM I TO DO? I FEEL THAT THIS IS HAZARDOUS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND I NOTICE I AM NOT THE ON LO Y ONE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HAVE FORD ISSUE A RECALL AND PAY RETROACTIVELY FOR ANY REPAIRS I HAVE TO MAKE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD LOSES ALL POWER STEERING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2011 MERCURY MILAN WHICH HAVE ALL THE SAME PARTS WHY WOULDN'T THEY RECALL THE 2010 MILANS? THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES WHERE THE POWER STEERING WILL JUST GO OUT THAN WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT WORKS AGAIN. THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD TRUST MY WIFE OR CHILD DRIVING THIS CAR.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE THAT LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL SO THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2011 - 2012 MERCURY MILAN #15V340000 BUT THE RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 2010. THIS IS A COSTLY $1800 REPAIR IN WHICH OTHERS HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE IN THE MILAN.
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING THE RECALL HAS BEEN DONE FOR 2011-2012 FUSIONS AND 2011 MILANS . MY 2010 MILAN HAS THE SAME EXACT PARTS AND I CAN FIND ALL THE SAME COMPLAINTS OF THE STEERING GOING OUT ON THE 2010 YEAR VEHICALS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE NHTSA LET FORD GET AWAY WITH WHEN THERE IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM BOTH WHEN JUST STARTING AND WHILE DRIVING. THESE CARS ARE NOT SAFE. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES TO LOTS OF PEOPLE

SHORTLY AFTER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE POWER STEERING SEIZED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TAKATA RECALL NOTIFIED BY MAIL MY VEHICLE WAS UNDER AN AIRBAG RECALL IN MID-2016. VEHICLE MANUFACTURER STILL DOES NOT HAVE PARTS TO FIX. VERIFIED WITH MANUFACTURER 11/20/17.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OFF WITH NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER
TAKATA RECALL -- WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY 2016 FOR THE AIRBAG IN OUR CAR. I JUST TALKED TO 2 FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THIS WILL BE FIXED. THIS SEEMS LIKE AN UNREASONABLE DELAY TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL. FORD NOTIFIED ME IN JULY OF 2016 OF THE DEFECT AND RECALL. TEN MONTHS LATER AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. WHAT IS THE ALLOWED TIME FOR REPAIR. WHEN I CALL THE DEALER THEY TELL ME THEY WILL CONTACT ME WHEN THEY HAVE PARTS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY POWER STEERING AND TRACTION ASSIST FAILED. A WARNING INDICATING THAT I SERVICE THE POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY APPEARED. INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR BOTH POWER STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL APPEARED. UPON TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE PROBLEM DID NOT RESOLVE.
REAR BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. VERY COMMON PROBLEM APPARENTLY.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER TWO YEARS FOR THE PART TO COME IN TO REPAIR MY AIR BAG ONLY GETTING RECALL NOTICES. HOW MUCH LONGER MUST I WAIT?
MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT FOR NO REASON. I WAS TAKING MY HUSBAND TO THE AIRPORT AND THE FIRST INDICATOR WAS SERVICE POWER STEERING AND WHEN IT CAME ON AND IT JUST GOT TOUGH TO TURN. TWO DAYS LATER ANOTHER INDICATOR SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW CAME ON. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING I HAVE. THEY SENT OUT A RECALL FOR THE 2011S BUT WE AS OWNERS OF A 2010 ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. FORD NEEDS TO SENT OUT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE SOME SERIOUS WRECKS AND EVEN DEATH LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME OKAY. NOW I CAN BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL SO I AM NOT DRIVING THIS CAR.
TAKATA RECALLA IN JULY 2016 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL. FORD STATES THEY DON'T HAVE RECALL PARTS YET. WE ARE IN WARM HUMID CLIMATE. DO YOU HAVE ANY SAFETY ADVICE? WE CAN NOT DISCONNECT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG.
THERE IS A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE THAT LOCKS THE CAR UP AND DISABLES ANY DRIVING ABILITIES. I NOTICED THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2011 MODEL OF THE MERCURY MILAN AND THE FORD FUSION WHICH IS THE SAME VEHICLE.
THIS IS THE 2ND $400 REAR TAIL LIGHT I'VE PUT ON THIS CAR. IT HAS LED LAMPS AND THE WHOLE LIGHT HAS TO BE REPLACED. WORKS FINE WITHOUT HEADLAMPS ON AND NOT WHEN THEY ARE OFF. THIS CAN RESULT IN GETTING REAR ENDED!!!!! FORD SHOULD STEP UP AND RECALL THIS. HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET. AND A 9.5 OUT OF 10 ON NHTSA. REPLACING A $2 BULB WITH A $400 LED IS DUMB.
ON JULY 1ST I WAS MAKING DRIVING ON THE FRONTAGE ROAD IN MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT SO I PULLED OVER TO CHECK WHAT HAPPENED AND WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE CAR "SERVICE POWER STEERING" AND "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" WERE LIT UP ON MY DASH BOARD. WE CHANGED THE TIRE TO THE SPARE BUT WHEN WE WERE READY TO DRIVE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE SIDE TO SIDE. LUCKILY A FAMILY MEMBER LIVED NEAR BY SO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR THERE BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL HARD. THE NEXT DAY WE WENT TO GO GET A NEW TIRE TO REPLACE THE SPARE THINKING MAYBE IT WAS THE SPARE THAT CAUSED THE SERVICE MESSAGES TO APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD BUT EVEN WITH THE TIRE CHANGE THE STEERING WHEEL IS STILL NOT ABLE TO ALLOW ANY SORT OF TURNING MOTION UNLESS THERE IS AN EXTREMELY STRONG EFFORT TO TURN IT. I'M AWARE THAT THIS EXACT INCIDENT ALSO HAPPENED TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER. I'M ALSO AWARE HOW THERE'S A RECALL ON THE 2011 BUT NOT ON THE 2010. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE GIVEN FOR THIS YEAR ALSO BECAUSE I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC. IT'S NOT RIGHT FOR US TO HAVE TO COUGH UP 1000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS A DEFECT IN THE CAR. I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR AND DON'T PLAN TO JUST HAVE IT SITTING THERE WITH NO USE TO IT AND THROWING MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THESE INCIDENTS OF POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC ON THE 2010 MERCURY MILAN SO WE TOO CAN GET THE RECALL THAT WE NEED!
TAKATA RECALL FIRST RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE JULY 2016 FOR THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR. CALLED ROUNTREE MOORE FORD IN LAKE CITY, FLORIDA. THEY DID NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS. ROUNTREE MOORE TOLD ME TO CALL FORD TO GET STATUS OF AIRBAG AVAILABILITY. FORD TOLD ME PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW AND I WILL GET A SECOND NOTICE WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVIALABLE. STILL WAITING ON THAT SECOND NOTICE. IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW.

TAKATA RECALL--MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE FLORIDA SUN SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED BY MY LATE HUSBAND (VALENTINE'S GIFT FOR 2/14/2011). IT HAS BEEN UNDER RECALL SINCE JUNE 2016! IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A LOANER NOT CLOSE TO THE MILAN. I ONLY HAVE 25,800+ MILES ON IT! I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING CLOSE TO FAMILY--SINCE I AM ALONE AND A SENIOR CITIZEN. WHAT AM I TO DO? MY DRIVER DOOR INSIDE HANDLE IS INOPERATIVE. I HAVE TO OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE HANDLE. THIS MEANS EITHER SOMEONE HAS TO OPEN DOOR FOR ME FROM OUTSIDE, OR I ROLL DOWN MY WINDOWS TO PULL ON THE HANDLE. THE LOCK / UNLOCK ELECTRONIC BUTTON WORKS, AS WELL AS THE MANUAL LOCK/UNLOCK HANDLE ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. HOWEVER, THIS ONLY ALLOWS LOCKING LATCH (ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR, SEE PICTURE) TO BE ABLE TO RELEASE. SO WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE WINDOW IS BROKEN OR I AM IN A PANIC TO GET OUT? I CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CAR BY MYSELF. FURTHERMORE, I HAVE TO HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON FOR THE OUTSIDE DOOR TO BE ABLE TO UNLATCH THE LOCK (SOMEONE IS TRYING TO GET ME OUT, AND I AM DAZED AND CAN'T OPEN MYSELF, NOR UNDERSTAND TO HIT UNLOCK TO ALLOW RESCUER TO HELP). I WANTED TO BRING TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM FOR EVALUATION. I WAS INFORMED SINCE MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN HAS 80,600 MILES, IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND SINCE THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL ON FILE, I MUST PAY $100 TECHNICIAN INSPECTION FEE. THEN THERE WOULD BE THE CHARGE FOR FIXING IT.
WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE, MY CAR (2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID) SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND DISPLAYED THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" AS WELL AS THE "WRENCH SYMBOL LIGHT". I ACTIVATED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND EXITED THE INTERSTATE AT THE NEXT EXIT. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND WAITING FOR 5 MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR. ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL DISPLAYED. AFTER TESTING THE POWER OF THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AND IT SEEMED OKAY, WE WENT BACK ON THE INTERSTATE TO RETURN TO OUR HOTEL. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FINDING MULTIPLE INCIDENTS SIMILAR TO OUR PROBLEM, WE LOOKED FOR AN AREA FORD DEALER TO REPAIR THE CAR (WE WERE ON VACATION OVER 500 MILES FROM HOME.) THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO THE FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR, THE CAR DID THE SAME THING - WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON AN INTERSTATE, THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND DISPLAYED THE WRENCH SYMBOL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD NEVER GONE OFF SINCE ILLUMINATING THE DAY BEFORE. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR ALONG THE INTERSTATE AND TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON, THE CAR HAD ADEQUATE POWER FOR THE REMAINING TRIP TO THE FORD DEALER. THE DIAGNOSIS AT THE DEALER WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN FORD'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SIMILAR AGE/MODEL OF THE OTHER CARS IN THE PROGRAM. I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM. THE SITUATION CAUSED BY THE THROTTLE BODY FAILURE COULD LEAD TO SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE.
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT FROM A CITY STREET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN WENT OUT. IT STARTED WITH A WARNING ON THE DISPLAY "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" ALONG WITH THE WARNING BELLS. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN BUT MADE IT SAFELY INTO A PARKING SPOT. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" ALONG WITH THE WARNING BELLS. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THE POWER STEERING GEAR HAD TO BE REPLACED AS IT HAD FAILED. SPOKE TO THE DEALER AS THERE WAS IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ITEM BUT ONLY FOR CERTAIN 2011 MILAN. THE COST WAS OVER $1700 TO REPLACE.

IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
