The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the result was not provided. The contact stated that there was a code for an EVAP failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Peoria Ford (9130 W Bell Rd, Peoria, AZ 85382) however, the contact was not provided the cause for the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, he was unable to remove the key from the ignition. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he was able to remove the key after disconnecting the battery. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the steering column lock module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,782.
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT WITH NOT STAY LOCKED IN.
SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FAILS TO SAY HOOKED INTO THE SEAT BELT CLIP-IN
ON A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL NOT STAY HOOKED IN IT COMES LOSE.
CAR WHEN IDLE SHUTS OFF IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC LOCKING BREAK AN STEERING WHEEL CAN CAUSE ACCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC THANK GOD I WAS CLOSE TO EMERGENCY EXIT CAR SHUTOFF NOT ALLOWING TO BRAKE HAD TO PRESS EMERGENCY BRAKE. *TR
DRIVER SEAT ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENT WILL MOVE ITSELF BACKWARDS WHILE CAR IS MOVING. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO THIS PROBLEM, IT IS RANDOM.
WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR THE SEAT WILL MOVE BACK ON IT'S OWN VOLITION INTO EXIT POSITION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IT GOES OVER A BUMP OR IF THE KEY IS JIGGLED IN THE IGNITION. IT HAPPENED IN MULTIPLE SITUATIONS LAST WEEK. VERY FRIGHTENING AS I HAVE TO SCRAMBLE TO REACH THE BRAKE AND ALSO MOVE THE SEAT BACK INTO POSITION. I HAVE TURNED OFF THE EASY EXIT OPTION SO THIS HAS STOPPED IT BUT IT UPSETS ME THAT I NO LONGER HAVE A FEATURE THAT I PAID FOR.
TAKATA RECALL WHILE MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, & WHEN I STOP AT A STOP LIGHT, IT'S SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, & ON CITY STREETS AT NORMAL SPEEDS. IT HAS PROVEN DANGEROUS SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE JERKS VERY HARD. ALSO WHEN I DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 6 TO 7 MILES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR COMES ON.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE INTERIOR LIGHT TURNS ON AND THE SEAT MOVES BACK INTO THE PARK POSITION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO REACH THE PEDAL/BRAKE AND IT HAPPENS WITHOUT NOTICE. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE POSTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND DON'T SEE HOW IT CANNOT BE A RECALL FOR SAFETY REASONS
POWER STEERING PROBLEM INTERMITTENT STEERING SEEMS TO CHANGE FROM MANUAL STEERING WHEN TURNING MAKING VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE SEAT WILL SUDDENLY MOVE BACKWARDS TO THE "OPEN DOOR" POSITION, AS THOUGH THE KEY HAD BEEN PULLED OUT OF THE IGNITION. THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WITH SHORT LEGS, AS ONE CAN NO LONGER REACH THE GAS PEDAL OR BRAKE. SLIGHTLY "WIGGLING" THE KEY OR IGNITION SWITCH WILL USUALLY GET THE SEAT TO MOVE BACK TO THE PRESET DRIVING POSITION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ALSO GO ON, AND TURN OFF WHEN THE SEAT MOVES BACK INTO POSITION. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS, AND IT SEEMS MOST EVENTS HAPPEN AFTER THE CAR HITS A BUMP, BUT NOT ALWAYS. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN IT JUST SEEMS TO HAPPEN WITHOUT ANYTHING TO SET IT OFF. IT ALSO CAN HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED UP, OR JUST AS YOU START TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT REPAIR OF THIS CONDITION IS NOT A RECALL ITEM. THE DATE SHOWN FOR WHEN IT HAPPENED IS THE LATEST DATE - I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE THEN - BUT IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 10 MONTHS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING SYSTEM WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE THEN WAS TAKEN TO MARITIME FORD (1305 FRANKLIN ST, MANITOWOC, WI 54220) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DIMMER SWITCH NEEDED TO BE PLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. *DT*JB
WHILE DRIVING DRIVER SEAT GOES BACKWARD AND INTERIOR LIGHTS GOES ON WITH OUT USING OR PUSHING NO INSTRUMENTS
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE SEAT SUDDENLY WENT ALL THE WAY BACK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN, WE FINALLY FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE IGNITION, WITH THE CAR ACTING LIKE THE KEY JUST GOT PUT IN THE IGNITION OR JUST PULLED OUT, AND THE SEAT MOVING ALL THE WAY BACK FOR EASIER INGRESS/EGRESS AND THE COURTESY LIGHTS COMING ON. SINCE I AM ONLY 5 FOOT 4 INCHES, WHEN THE SEAT MOVES BACK I CAN NO LONGER REACH THE PETALS, A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,500.
WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SEAT AUTOMATICALLY GOES BACK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON...THIS IS GONNA CAUSE AN ACCIDENT CUZ WHEN THE SEAT GOES BACK THE MEMORY KEY FOR THE SEAT POSITION DOESNT WORK UNTIL U TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, ONCE THE SEAT GOES BACK I CANT REACH THE BREAK OR PEDDLE. EASY ENTRY/EXIT FEATURE. THIS FEATURE WILL ENABLE WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. THIS MAKES FOR A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE I AM NOT ABLE TO REACH MY GAS AND BRAKE PEDAL. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC PATTERN.
WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVERS POWER SEAT WILL MOVE TO THE "OPEN DOOR POSITION" CAUSING MY FEET TO BE TOO FAR FROM THE PEDALS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
I ALSO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION CAUSING THE SEATS TO MOVE THE EASY EXIT POSITION. THIS HAPPENS CONSTANTLY WHILE DRIVING AND IS VERY UNSAFE. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AS IF THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF AND REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, ALSO CAUSING THE SEAT TO MOVE THE EXIT POSITION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I AM UNABLE TO REACH THE PEDALS AND SCRAMBLE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I SEE WHERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO QUITE A FEW OTHER OWNERS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED.

ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING ILLUMINATED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

AFTER APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES THE DOME LIGHTS TURNED ON AND AUTOMATIC SEATS MOVE BACK WHILE DRIVING. THIS ISSUE PERSISTS AND OFTEN OCCURS SEVERAL TIMES. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE FOUND ONLINE. IT IS NOT DUE TO A HEAVY KEY CHAIN AS I ONLY HAVE THE FOB AND KEY ATTACKED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SEATS PULL THE DRIVER AWAY FROM THE PEDALS AND STEERING WHEEL. INVESTIGATE! RECALL!
THE RETRACING RIGHT STEP BOARD WILL NOT RETURN TO CLOSED POSITION ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.

DEFECTIVE IGNITION. WHEN DRIVING, IF YOU BUMP THE KEY (OR ATTACHED KEYCHAIN), ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON, AND THE DRIVERS SEAT WILL RETRACT ALL THE WAY BACK INTO THE "EASY ENTRY/EXIT" POSITION, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SHORTER PERSON TO REACH THE BRAKE OR GAS PEDAL. SOMETIMES DURING THIS EVENT, THE CAR WILL STALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND THE INTERNET IS FULL OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS IDENTICAL ISSUE. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED YET?!? PEOPLE ARE PAYING FOR A NEW IGNITION TUMBLER, BUT BEFORE LONG IT STARTS HAPPENING TO THE REPLACEMENT TUMBLER AS WELL. WHEN I HIT A BUMP THE DRIVER SEAT MOVED IN AND OUT OF POSITION THAT I HAD SET IN THE MEMORY SEATING
THE SEAT WHILE DRIVING AUTOMATICALLY MOVES BACK FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH CAUSES PROBLEMS STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT THEN MOVES YOU FORWARD PRESSING YOUR FOOT AGAINST THE GAS PEDAL CAUSING YOU TO SPEED UP. IT IS A RANDOM ISSUE AND YOU ARE UNAWARE WHILE DRIVING WHEN IT WILL OCCUR. THIS CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT TO SOMEONE OR SOMEONE'S PROPERTY AND INJURY TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
WHENEVER I DRIVE IN TOWN OR HIGHWAY, I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE POWER TRAIN/TRANSMISSION. IT IS CONSTANTLY SLIPPING AND SHIFT HARD. I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY EXACT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. I CALLED FORD ABOUT THE SAME EXACT ISSUE I HAVE AS DESCRIBED BY THEIR SITE. BUT MY VIN# DOESN'T SHOW UP AS ONE OF THEIR RECALLS. WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. SO NOW I HAVE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET SINCE THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS THE OTHER SUV.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE POWER DRIVERS SEAT MOVES SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING BACK INTO THE ENTRY/EXIT POSITION MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REACH THE BRAKE/ACCELERATOR PEDALS.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND A LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM, THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPLETELY CRASHED AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE CAR DIED AND IT LITERALLY TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. NOW EVEN WITH A REPLACED BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR IT WILL ONLY START WITH A JUMP AND CONTINUES TO SAY THE CHARGING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE CHECKED. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. WHAT IF I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN (WITH NO REDUCTION OF SPEED) THE VEHICLE JUST TURNED OFF AND STOPPED. NO ELECTRIC MEANT NO POWERSTEERING, NO ABS, NO AIR BAG SENSORS ETC... VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL BLOGS AND SITES AND I AM FINDING A NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME CHARGING SYSTEM ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO RETURN THE COMPANY TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50 - 65 MILES PER HOUR THE ELECTRIC DRIVER SEAT WILL MOVE BACK INTO THE OPEN DOOR PARK POSITION AND THE INSIDE LIGHTS WILL COME ON. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE OCTOBER 2014. THERE IS NO SET PATTERN, IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IF ON BUMPY ROADS THE SEATS WILL RETURN TO THE OPEN DOOR POSITION AND INTER LIGHTS COME ON. MAKING IT HARD TO REACH PEDALS. *JS
WHILE DRIVING, I MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE BRAKES, AND MY KNEE BRUSHED ALONG THE KEY FOB DANGLING FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE SEATS THEN AUTOMATICALLY RETRACTED TO THE REAR POSITION. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED FOUR TIMES, AND SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS--PARTICULARLY BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WHEN MOVING MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE. WHILE I REACTED QUICKLY ENOUGH IN THESE NORMAL INCIDENTS, IF I WAS BRAKING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, I DOUBT I'D BE SO LUCKY. *TR
MY VEHICLE'S WARRANTY IS 5 YEARS/60,000 MILES. SINCE THIS WEEK I HAVE HEARD A METAL SCRATCH NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE DURING DRIVING ON THE ROAD. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP SHOP, IT IS FOUND THAT REAR AXLE SEAL HAS BEEN DAMAGED WITH OIL LEAKAGE. UNFORTUNATE, THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN 5 YEAR, ALTHOUGH THE MILEAGE IS ONLY 43500 MILES. *TR
ONCE THE KEY IS INSERTED THE SEAT WILL MOVE INTO POSITION AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN OFF. THAT IS WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENS IS MY KNEE NUDGES THE KEY THE CAR WILL THINK I HAVE TAKEN THE KEY OUT AND WILL TURN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AND MOVE MY SEAT ALL THE WAY BACK TO ITS OUT POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE ME FEET NO LONGER TOUCH THE PEDALS. AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENED MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON BUT NO CODES ARE SHOWING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I AM SURPRISED THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS SINCE THERE ARE OTHERS SUFFERING WITH THIS AS WELL THAT I HAVE SEEN POSTED IN ONLINE FORUMS. *TR
**I FIRST NOTICED MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON UPON PURCHASING MY VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE AIR MAY HAVE BEEN LOW AND COULD FLUCTUATE WITH THE WEIGHT IN THE VEHICLE. HE FILLED THE TIRE THAT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN LOW AND IT TURNED OFF MOMENTARILY. A FEW DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I WOULD ADD AIR WHICH ALLEVIATED AGAIN IN THE SAME TIRE, BUT FOR A FEW HOURS LATER IT CAME ON AGAIN WHICH I FOUND OUT ENDED UP BEING AN ISSUE WITH ALL 4 OF THE TIRES. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF FILLING AND REFILLING OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND USING "A FILLER" (CAN OF AIR FOR FLAT TIRES) IS WHEN I KNEW THEN ALL 4 TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. THE AIR PRESSURE GOES ON AND OFF AND HAS NOW STAYED ON! I AM LUCKY IF IT TURNS OFF AT ALL NOW! THE TIRES ARE FIRESTONE DESTINATION A/T TIRES. **ALSO THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK PANEL (WHERE THE GAS FILL-TANK HOLE PANEL IS) WAS MANUFACTURED IN PROPERLY AS IT IS SEVERELY RUSTING, BUBBLING PAINT, AND CHIPPING AWAY ONLY BUT IN THIS ONE SPOT. THE RUST SIZE IS THE ONLY SPOT ON THE VEHICLE IN WHICH IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE PALM OF MY HAND. **I ALSO HAVE AN OUTSTANDING COMPLAINT ALREADY WITH A VERY DANGEROUS FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH STALES THE VEHICLE AND RENDERS IT UNCONTROLLABLE WHILE DRIVING AND IN MOTION. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 74,900.
I PURCHASED THIS USED VEHICLE WHICH IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT THE SEAT ISSUE. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK THE POWER SEAT STARTED MOVING ON ITS OWN. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE ACTUAL NAVIGATION/RADIO SYSTEM AND DRIVING LIGHTS DIM. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONSTANT PROBLEM AND IS BASICALLY THE IGNITION AREA THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A FEW ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS AND HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN. MY MOTHER HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR ONE DAY AND SHE PULLED OVER IN COMPLETE FEAR BECAUSE OF ALMOST WRECKING. IF I HIT A BUMP OR POTHOLE WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVES TO THE EASY EXIT POSITION THE DOME LIGHTS COME ON. HAPPENS ALSO IF YOU BUMP THE STEERING WHEEL OR IF YOU TOUCH THE KEY WHEN IT IS IN THE IGNITION. IT HAS HAPPENS WHILE BACKING OUT IN DRIVE. STALLED THE ENGINE TWICE. TURNING THE KEY SLIGHTLY WILL PUT THE SEAT BACK INTO THE SET POSITION. I AM ONLY 5' 5", SO WHEN THE SEAT GOES BACK WHILE I AM DRIVING, I AM MOVED TOO FAR AWAY FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS. MECHANIC INSPECTION INDICATES IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH AND HAS QUOTED IT AS A $203 REPAIR. *TR

THIS IS A SERIOUS DRIVING HAZARD AS YOU'RE MOVED VERY FAR AWAY FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AS WELL AS THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS.
