CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL 01V078000 FOR BRAKES PEDAL. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AROUND MARCH 1, AND PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE.*AK CONSUMER STATES REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE. *SLC
THE ENGINE HAS A HEAVY SPARK KNOCK AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED 5 TIMES. THE DRIVER SEAT DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN IT. WHEN CAR IS FIRST PUT IN REVERSE, IT WILL ROLL FORWARD. WHEN SLOWING FROM 60+ MPH, THE CAR SHAKES REALLY BAD AND ALSO RIDES VERY ROUGH WHEN SPEEDING UP FROM 65+MPH. THESE CARS SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF ENGINE, TRANSAXLE PROBLEMS. MAYBE A RECALL IS IN ORDER. MY CAR HAS BEEN INT HE SHOP 60 OUT OF 290 DAYS. I HAVE DEALT WITH RENTAL CARS AND REPAIRS IN EXCESS OF $20K. PLEASE HELP!
WELL THIS IS REALLY NOT A DEFECT JUST VERY BAD DESIGN,MY 2000 MERCURY SABLE HAS NO SHIELD OF ANY KIND OVER,ON OR AROUND THE FUEL TANK THAT HANGS A FOOT OR LESS OFF OF THE HIGHWAY.I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE ROAD AND NEVER HEARD OR SAW ANYTHING ON THE ROAD,BUT EVIDENTALLY RAN OVER SOMETHING SMALL AND IT RUPTURED THE FUEL TANK ON THE CAR AND I LOST ALL OF THE GAS WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD,NOW THAT IS A BIG HAZARD IF I WOULD HAVE RAN OVER A LIT CIGARETTE.....BOOM. THEY NEED TO DESIGN A COVER OR SHIELD OF SOME SORT TO PREVENT A POSSIBLE BAD ACCIDENT.
WHEN APPLYING BRAKE AT SLOW SPEED VEHICLE SURGE FORWARD. CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKE, BUT VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN. VEHICLE HIT GARAGE WALL. THIS HAPPENED TWO TIMES. DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE. VEHICLE HAS SURGED A TOTAL OF 10 TIMES, ALWAYS WHEN SLOWING DOWN. PEDALS WERE NOT ADJUSTABLE.*AK
WHILE GOING OVER AN OVERPASS WITH ICE ON ROAD CONSUMER BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL, AND WENT OVER INTO A DITCH. LATER, CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT BRAKE PEDAL BENT. CONSUMER FELT THIS PEDAL SHOULD NOT HAVE BENT. *AK
GAS PEDAL KEEPS STICKING, CAUSING VEHICLE TO IDLES HIGH . CURRENTLY AT DEALER. *AK
UPON STARTING VEHICLE THERE WAS A LOUD BOOM WITH A CLOUD OF BLUE SMOKE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMEN, DESTROYING INTAKE MANIFOLD. WARRANTY COVERED REPAIRS. DEALER COULD ONLY GUESS WHAT PROBLEM WAS. *AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT HIS CONTROL THE GEAR JUMPED OUT OF DRIVE AND INTO REVERSE, CONSUMER RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE INSPECTED AND WAS ADVISED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, CONSUMER REFUSED TO ACCEPT VEHICLE DUE TO THE UNSAFE ACTION SO CONSUMER PURCHASED ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH APPLIED BRAKES, AND BRAKING DISTANCE WAS LONGER THAN USUAL. ENGINE STARTED RACING. CONSUMER PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO SLOW DOWN.*AK
ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING ACCELERATED TREMENDOUSLY CAUSING THE CAR TO STRIKE FIRST THE CURB, THEN THE LIBRARY WALL, CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO CAR AND LIBRARY WALL, AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
VEHICLE SEEMED TO SPEED UP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE GOT EVEN FASTER, VEHICLE GLANCED OFF THE CURB AND PROCEEDED ACROSS THE INTERSECTION INTO THE OPPOSIT CURB. RESULTING IN DAMAGE. CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS THE BRAKE/GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER, ALSO THE PEDAL ATTACHMENT ASSEMBLY ON THESE ADJUSTABLE PEDALS IS SUCH A LOOSE FIT THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE DRIVER FOOT CAN STRAY TO THE RIGHT END OF THE PEDAL AND THE FOOT WILL PICK UP THE GAS PEDAL AND THE GAS PEDAL WILL WIN.
SIDE DOOR AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT CONTINUS TO STAY ON WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP ON FIVE OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING; FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS MATTER. *AK

I WENT TO DEALER/SELLER TO REPORT CRACKS AROUND SIDEWALL THAT APPEAR TO BE DEFECTS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES. I FEAR THAT THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND THAT I MIGHT BE HARMED. THEY SAID IT IS "WEATHER DAMAGE" I KNOW WHAT WEATHER DAMAGE IS ON TIRES, AND THIS AIN'T IT. PLEASE HELP. THIS IS A FORD PRODUCT, AND THEY ARE RUNNING SCARED. NORMALLY, THEY ARE COOPERATIVE ABOUT REPAIRS. THEY SHOT ME DOWN, FAST...TRYING TO COVER THEIR ASSES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE FALTY CONTINENTAL TIRES ON FORD/MERCURY TAURUS/SABLE FOR YEAR 2000. GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION CONSUMER HIT BOTH PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. *AK
THE CONSUMER IS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE MANUFACTURERS RECALL 00B55, AFTER COMPLETION OF THE RECALL THE OWNER RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTIFICATION TO RETURN THE VEHICLE DUE TO POSSIBLE PROBLEMS THAT WERE RELATED TO THE REPAIR OF THE PCM CALIBRATION. *MJS
CONSUMER STATED THAT DOUGHNUT TIRE ON VEHICLE WASN'T UP TO SAFETY STANDARD AS STATED IN FEDERAL MOTOR SAFETY STANDARDS 110 IN NEW TIRE MANUAL. THIS CONSUMER WASN'T SATIFIED. HE HAS SPOKEN WITH DEALER.*AK CONSUMER FEELS THE SAFETY LABELS SHOULD INCLUDE MAXIMUM LOAD, OCCUPANT NUMBER, AND LUGGAGE LOAD. *SLC
UPON RELEASING EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE VEHICLE TOOK OFF AND CRASHED INTO A GARAGE.VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A VERY SLIGHT INCLINE. IGNITION WAS RUNNING, AND VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AK THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR COULD NOT DETERMINE IF DEFECT WAS THE CAUSE. *YH
WHILE DRIVING ON DRUM AVENUE IN KENSINGTON MARYLAND I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THEN MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. AT THE TIME I HAD MY 11YEAR OLD GRANDSON AND ONE OF HIS FRIENDS IN THE BACK SEAT. APPARENTLY MY TIRE BLEW OUT AND WHEN THE RIM HIT THE GROUND MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED CAUSING THE ASTRONOMICAL EXPENSES. A SIDE AIR BAG SHOULD NOT DEPLOY ON A TIRE BLOW OUT AND THERE IS NO SIDE IMPACT.*AK (TIRESIZE: P215-60 R1)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P215-60 R1 )
SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON TWO OCCASIONS; 1ST OCCURRED AT 593 MILES AT A SERVICE STATION AFTER TURNING ON THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTING INTO GEAR, AND 2ND OCCURRED AT 894 MILES WHEN VEHICLE WAS GOING 15-20 MPH AND BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO BRING VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE COMPUTER SENSOR NEEDED READJUSTING. *AK THE DEALER REPROGRAMMMED THE PCM AS THE SOLUTION FOR ENGINE SURGING. THE BRAKES FAILURE WAS DUE TO BEING OVER POWERED BY THE ENGINE SURGE. *YH
WE WERE ON A TRIP ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2000 ON A NORTHERN CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 58 MPH WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 1200 MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND THE OPERATOR CHANGED THE TIRE AND STATED THAT THE TIRE WAS UNREPAIRABLE DUE TO SIDEWALL FAILURE. WE DROVE TO THE LES SCHWAB TIRE DEALER IN BURNEY. CA. THEY AGREED THE TIRE WAS UNREPAIRABLE AND SOLD US A REPLACEMENT TIRE FOR $84. THE TIRE DEALER TOLD US TO GO BACK WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF THE NEW TIRE. THE LITHIA MOTORS SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOOK POSSESSION OF THE DEFECTIVE TIRE, ORDERED AND EVENTUALLY REPLACED IT WITH ONE OF THE SAME BRAND AND SIZE, AND STATED THEY WOULD REIMBURSE US FOR THE COST OF THE LES SCHWAB TIRE. I ASKED FOR ALL THE TIRES TO BE REPLACED SINCE I WAS AFRAID ANOTHER TIRE WOULD FAIL. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THAT TIRE AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE ANY OTHER TIRES. *AK (DOT NUMBER: ACX8 TIRESIZE: R21560R16)

KOONS LINCOLN-MERCURY SERVICE TECHNICIANS HAVE STATED THAT THE EMISSION LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED BECAUSE VEHICLE HAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL VAPOR TRANSFER SYSTEM. AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED DUE TO A DEFECTIVE LEFT FRONT AIR BAG SENSOR. BRAKE LIGHTS INOPERATIVE DUE TO A SWITCH STOP LAMP AND BROKEN WIRE. THIS DEFECT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET REAR-ENDED IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON BALTIMORE'S BELTWAY.*AK

UNABLE TO USE A FORWARD FACING CHILD SAFETY SEAT DUE TO REAR LEATHER SEAT BEING TOO SLIPPERY TO HOLD CHILD SEAT. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK THE DEALER NEEDS PERMISSION FROM THE VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURER TO MAKE MODIFICATION AND INSTALL LATCH SYSTEM. THE CUSTOMER HAS NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. *YH
UNABLE TO INSTALL 2 CHILD SAFETY SEATS IN REAR DUE TO LEATHER BEING TO SLIPPERY TO SECURE SAFETY SEATS. DEALER NOTIFIED ON DATE OF DELIVERY ABOUT THE PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR WAS CONTACTED AND AN ENGINEER WAS SENT OUT AND DETERMINED THAT THE LEATHER WAS TOO SLIPPERY. SUGGESTED DEALERSHIP ORDER US A NEW CLOTH SEAT AS A REPLACEMENT. ALMOST FOUR MONTHS LATER AND WE ARE STILL WAITING.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, VEHICLE JERKED/SURGED INTO A GEAR AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. PH ABS POSSILBY CAUSED BRAKES TO PULSATE WHEN COMING TO A STOP. *TT
IF BRAKES ARE APPLIED ABRUPTLY, VEHICLE SKIDS AND REAR END (SHIFTS) AS IF TURNING AROUND. DEALER IS UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE. PH *TT
WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE TO BACK UP VEHICLE WILL GO FORWARD. THIS INCIDENT HAD HAPPENED MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK THE DEALER STATES THAT THE CAUSE IS TRANMISSION MALFUNCTION AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT AGREE. *YH
VEHICLE HAS A FIRESTONE TOURING T3 TIRES, TIRE SIZE P21560R16, AND DOT NUMBER NOT AVAILABLE. WHEN DRIVING LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM TIRE, TIRE ONLY HAS 3700 MILES. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER HAS REPLACED THE TIRES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK *SLC
VEHICLE WOULD START TO SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATE ON ITS ON POWER. AFTER ENGINE WAS TURNED ON AND THE GEAR CHANGED TO DRIVE, VEHICLE WOULD JUMP ON ITS OWN. WHILE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, BRAKES STARTED TO MALFUNCTION, AND VEHICLE COULD ONLY STOP WHEN THE COMPLETE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. DEALER HAD ADVISED CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN "PERFECT CONDITION". DEFECT CAN CAUSE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT.*AK THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS ENGAGE SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE PEDALS ARE SET UNUSUALLY CLOSE TOGETHER. THE DRIVER HAS NO MEANS TO KNOW THE STATE OF PEDAL ADJUSTMENT. *YH
REPORTING DESIGN FLAW WITH ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS. CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT THE TWO PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT SIT HIGH ENOUGH, THIS CONDITION CAUSES A PROBLEM WHEN APPLYING THE THE BRAKE--ALSO APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT SAME TIME. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS MADE, AND NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE AT THIS TIME. *AK *ML
SOON AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED VEHICLE STARTED TO LEAK OIL, AND VEHICLE HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH STEERING PUMP. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER REPLACED STEERING PUMP TWICE, AND TRIES TO FIX LEAKING PROBLEM. BUT TO THIS DATE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. *AK THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS LEAKING AND WAS REPLACED. BUT THE LEAKING CONTINUED AND THE DEALER DID SERVICES LIKE CLEANING THE TENSIONER, REPLACEING BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY, BUT THE CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL LEAKING OIL. *YH
GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER WHEN EITHER ACCELERATING OR BRAKING. THIS CAUSES A PROBLEM WITH BRAKING OR ACCELERATION. FOOT CAN ENGAGE BOTH PEDALS AT ONCE. CAN OR WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER INDICATED NOTHING COULD BE DONE.*AK

WHILE AT STAND STILL WITH FOOT ON BRAKES, VEHICLE STARTED REVVING UP & TOOK OFF. HIT VHEICLE IN FRONT. SECOND TIME AT CROSS WALK IT HAPPENED AGAIN. DID NOT HIT ANYTHING THAT TIME. THIRD TIME, HAD PLACED IT IN REVERSE AND IT TOOK OFF BACKWARDS AFTER REVVING UP. BEEN TO DEALER TWICE FOR CORRECTION. *AK
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FREQUENTLY COMES ON AND THEN STAYS ON ALL DAY. DEALER SAYS CAR IS SAFE EXCEPT WHEN WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON, BUT THAT IS UNPREDICTABLE. DEALER HAS REPEATEDLY MADE REPAIRS BUT AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. I MADE INITIAL FILING UNDER LEMON LAW AND FORD HAS MADE FINAL REPAIR BUT LIGHT STILL STAYS ON.
