ROTORS CONTINUE TO BE DEFECTIVE. CONSUMER HAS HAD ROTORS SURFACED A FEW TIMES, BUT THEY STILL ARE GOING BAD. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
APPLYING BRAKES AT 5 MPH OR LESS, PEDAL VERY RIGID, NO POWER ASSISTANCE IN EVIDENCE, ENGINE BEGINS TO RACE ON ITS OWN. ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AND STANDING ON BRAKE PEDAL. VEHICLE RETURNS TO NORMAL OPERATION AFTER BRIEF MALFUNCTION. COMPLIANCE: OWNER'S GUIDE, PAGE 223.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES WITHOUT WARNING OR MANUAL OPERATION, CAUSE UNKNOWN, VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM THREE TIMES. DEALER CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. *AK THE VEHCILE HAS BEEN TO SERVICE EIGHT TIMES. CRUISE CONTROL DUMP VALVE AND BRAKE BOOSTER RETURN SPRING WAS POINTED OUT BY THE MANUFACTURES TO BE THE CAUSE FOR THIS FAILURE. *YH
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER 8 TIMES: 5/8/00, 5/24/00, 6/9/00, 6/1/01, 6/5/01, 7/11/01, 8/6/01, AND 8/25/01. FORD HAS TIGHTENED CONNECTIONS,RE-SOLDERED CONNECTIONS, OR REPLACE WIRING FIVE TIMES. THE CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. ON 8/6/01 AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER WROTE ON THE WORK ORDER "FORD TECH. ASSIST HOTLINE IS AWARE OF CONCERN & ADVISES NO REPAIR IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME." I HAVE FILED FOR LEMON LAW, AND AT FORD'S REQUEST TOOK THE CAR TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER ON 8/25/01. ON 8/25/01, FORD "REPAIRED A LOOSE CONNECTION AT FUSE BOX." THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I AM ATTEMPTING TO SCHEDULE A LEMON LAW HEARING DATE. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. FORD IS NOT WORKING WITH ME TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IN FORD'S INVESTIGATIVE REPORT TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, THEY DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN SEEN FOR AN AIR BAG PROBLEM. I HAVE COPIES OF ALL EIGHT VISITS TO DEALERSHIPS FOR THE AIR BAG MALFUNCTIONS.*AK
WHEN THE ADJUSTABLE BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED, IT CAN SLIDE TO THE RIGHT, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. DEALER NOTIFIED, SAID MOVEMENT IS NORMAL FOR THE DESIGN. *AK *ML
CONSUMER STATES THAT BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER . WHEN DRIVER HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL, HE ACCIDENTLY HIT THE GAS CAUSING VEHICLE TO JUMP THE CURB AND RUN INTO THE SIDE OF A CHURCH. *JB *YH
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO GO BACKWARDS WHILE CONSUMER WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. *YH
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET TRAVELING 20MPH, WENT TO ADJUST THE POWER ADJUSTABLE PEDAL WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT. INSTEAD, HIT THE BUTTON AND CAUSED VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE WAS NO SAFETY LOCK FEATURE. THERE IS A POTENTIAL RISK INVOLVED. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND CONSUMER UNION. IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THERE IS A SMALL MENTION OF NOT USING THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL FEATURE WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. *AK
GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER TO DESTINGUISH WHICH IS WHICH BECAUSE IF CONSUMER WOULD PUT FOOT DOWN ON THE PEDAL THERE WOULD BE A PROBLEM. *AK
SEVERAL TIMES I'VE APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD, IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS MAY BE TOO CLOSE.*AK
VEHICLE BLEWUP. CONSUMER OUT OF CAR WHEN HE SMELLED GAS. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALER. DEALER INDICATED INTAKE MANIFOLD EXPLODED OR BACKFIRED. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES MOTOR STARTED TO RACE AND THE BRAKES WON'T HOLD. THE MORE CONSUMER PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE FASTER THE MOTOR WENT, CAUSING UNWANTED ACCELERATION. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK *ML
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY THE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE IS NO APPARENT REASON FOR IT. THE GLASS ALSO BROKE INTO SLIVERS. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT AUTO'S HAD TO HAD SAFETY GLASS TO PREVENT INJURIES? THE DEALER STATES IT IS TEMPERED GLASS BUT THIS WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON AND THEN THE GLASS SPLINTERED AND FELL INTO THE CAR. COVERING THE BACK OF THE CAR AND THANK GOODNESS THAT MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT OR SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. AS IT IS WE STILL HAD TO USE TAPE TO REMOVE THE SMALL SLIVERS OF GLASS FROM HER CHEEK. *AK
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION CONSUMER TRIED TO STEP ON THE BRAKE, BUT INSTEAD HIT BOTH, GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND RAN INTO A TELEPHONE POST.*AK
WHILE SLOWING TO MAKE A TURN AND WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, VEHICLE JUST KEPT ON ROLLING LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING PUSHED FROM BEHIND FOR AT LEAST 30FT. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
RECALL NOTICE REGARDING 2000 MERCURY SABLE STOP LAMP SWITCH AND WIRING.*MR THE CONSUMER RECEIVED THE RECALL APRIL 2004. THE CONSUMER'S PROBLEM IS THAT BECAUSE OF HIS WORK SCHEDULE THE DEALER IS ALREADY CLOSED BY THE TIME HE ARRIVES IN THE AREA. THEREFORE THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO SCHEDULE THE SERVICE. *NM
CONSUMER OWNS A 2000 MERCURY SABLE AND IS ASKING THAT THE RECALL FOR FRONT COIL SPRING FAILURES BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDED THE FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS.*MR THE REAR COIL SPRING IN THE CONSUEMR'S VEHICLE BROKE. *NM
2000 MERCURY SABLE AND 2002 FORD TAURUS DOOR LATCH FREEZES IN THE WINTER. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DOOR LATCH FREEZES AND WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED AFTER BEING OPENED. ***NAR*** *KB THE CONSUMER STATED LATER IN THE DAY, WHEN THE WEATHER WARMED UP, THE LATCHES OPERATED NORMALLY. *JB
THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SPARE TIRE IS NOT UP TO SAFETY STANDARDS ACCORDING TO THE FORD MOTOR SAFETY STANDARD 110 MANUAL. *SLC

THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES OFFER POOR PERFORMANCE, ESPECIALLY IN THE RAIN. THE CAR WAS SO BAD IN THE RAIN THAT MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE OE TIRES HAVE A TREADWEAR RATING OF 520. I AM AFRAID THAT THE RUBBER IS SO HARD (WHICH WILL GIVE LONG LIFE) THAT GRIP WAS SACRIFICED. I CHANGED THE TIRES TO CONTINENTAL CONTITOURING CONTACT CH95 WHICH HAVE A TREADWEAR RATING OF 360. THESE TIRES ARE ALSO ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON BMW, MERCEDES, VOLVO, AUDI AMONG OTHERS. THE CAR IS MUCH IMPROVED. WET PERFORMANCE IS MUCH, MUCH BETTER AND DRY PERFORMANCE IS IMPROVED ALSO. MY WIFE NOW FEELS SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS REALLY A DEFECT, BUT I WANTED YOU TO KNOW. THANKS. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P215/60R16 )
WITH EACH RAIN OR WASH THE RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLE TAKES IN MOISTURE, CAUSING CONDENSES ON THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS AND REMAINS FOR SEVERAL DAY UNTIL EVAPORATION TAKES PLACE.

CONSUMER HAS A PROBLEM WITH AIR BAG LIGHT STAYING ON, DURING INSTALLATION AT THE DEALER THEY HAD BOLTED & DRILLED INTO WIRES, WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS. *ET
AT 3 MPH COMING TO A STOP WITH FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR HIT BRAKE PEDAL. CAR WOULD NOT STOP THE MORE I HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGINE WOULD RACE FINALLY COULD NOT HOLD IT CAR TOOK OFF AT AN INCREASING RATE OF SPEED EVEN AS I PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WAS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAUSE IF IF IT WAS THE ACCELORATOR THE CAR WOULD HAVE TAKEN OFF FASTER FINAL STOPPED IT BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL THIS CAR BELONGS TO HERTZ CORP SALT LAKE UT THEY REFUSE TO REPORT PROBLEM SO I( THE DRIVER) AM REPORTING IT! *AK

BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ILLUMINATED AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF UNLESS BRAKE SWITCH THAT IS LOCATED BEHIND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DISCONNECTED. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND ALMOST THE SAME HEIGHT. SO, IF YOUR FOOT IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT IS VERY EASY TO ALSO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME. SEVERAL TIMES WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, I DEPRESSED BOTH THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. IT FELT AS IF THE ACCELERATOR HAD STUCK.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER CANNOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

GAS FUMES/ODOR IN PASSENGER'S COMPARTMENT. ALSO, ODOR CAN BE SMELLED AROUND HOOD, AND IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER NOTICED PROBLEM, AND HAD REPLACED FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. DEALER UNSURE WHAT WAS CAUSING PROBLEM. *AK
ADJUSTABLE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS TOO CLOSE-TURNING INTO SPACE OR PULLING INTO GARAGE-IF NOT TO LEFT SIDE OF BRAKE PEDAL-TENDENCY TO ALSO APPLY GAS SAME TIME AS BRAKE-CAR LUNGES FORWARD/CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF DO NOT REACT QUICKLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FORD'S TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS THUS THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE LOADED WITH THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PEOPLE (8) AND LUGGAGE AT THE SAME TIME, THE CONSUMER IS VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE RECALL (OOV-242) AND BELIEVES THE VEHICLE WAS FALSELY ADVERTISED. NLM

WHEN THE DRIVER REMOVES HIS FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES, THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL SABLE'S PERFORM THIS WAY, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. NLM

SRS LIGHT FLASHES INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
SUN ROOF FAILS TO CLOSE PROPERLY. WOULD MOVE VERY SLOWLY AND IN A JERKY MOTION. SOMETIMES TOPPING IN MIDDLE OF TRACK WHILE CLOSING. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. WILL BE TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT. *AK
AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD FLASH FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE REMAINING SOLID. WOULD STAY ON UNTIL VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF.*AK
AFTER READING A RECENT NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT THIS SAFETY CONCERN I WANTED TO REPORT MY EXPERIENCE WITH MY 2000 MERCURY SABLE IN INTEREST IN HAVING THE DESIGN FLAW FIXED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION BY STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE GAS PEDAL ALSO BECAME PRESSED CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATE AND LUNGE FORWARD AS THE BRAKING ACTION AND ACCELERATION ACTION OPPOSED EACH OTHER. I'M CONCERNED THAT INHERENT IN THE CARS' DESIGN THE PEDALS ARE LOCATED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER, CREATING A SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS ABLE TO REACT QUICKLY ENOUGH TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND STOP THE CAR BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. . ONLY TO REALIZE AFTER THE FACT THAT WHAT HAD HAPPENED IS THAT MY FOOT WAS PRESSING BOTH PEDALS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP. CAR HAS ADJUSTABLE PEDALS.*AK
BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS ARE DESIGNED TOO CLOSELY TOGETHER. DRIVER CAN APPLY BOTH AT SAME TIME OR GAS PEDAL WHEN INTENDING TO APPLY BRAKES. *AK
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN CONSUMER HITS THE BRAKE PEDAL HE SIMULTANEOUSLY HITS THE GAS PEDAL, ALTHOUGH DEALER SAID IT WAS PEDAL FADE, CONSUMER FEELS BOTH PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER DUE TO THE FACT THAT HIS FOOT IS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, INSTEAD HITTING THE GAS PEDAL; CONSUMER HAS TO MAKE A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO MOVE FOOT TO THE MIDDLE BUT ON RARE OCCASIONS CONSUMER CAN STILL HIT THE GAS PEDAL BUT KNOW TO MOVE HIS FOOT FAST. *TT
THE LOCATION OF THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR ARE TOO CLOSE AND ARE AT THE SAME HEIGHT. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE STOPPING THE FOOT STAYS ON PART OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ACTUALLY INCREASES THE ENGINE SPEED WHILE TRYING TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN LOOKING AT THE LOCATION OF THE TWO PEDALS IT LOOKS LIKE A DESIGN ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BY THREE PERSONS AND ALL HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE AND HE INDICATED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE (BREAKING SYSTEM) AND IT WAS SOMETHING THE DRIVERS WOULD HAVE TO BE AWARE OF WHEN STOPPING THIS VEHICLE.*AK
BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. WHEN VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE AND THEY PUT FOOT ON THE BRAKES THEY HIT GAS PEDAL, AND VEHICLE LAUNCHES BACK. ALSO, WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.*AK
I HAVE NOW HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ON MY CAR REPLACED TWICE. ON JULY 23, 2002 WHILE ON VACATION IN THE ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STUCK ON. I HAD TO DRIVE OVER 100 MILES WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS MORNING (9/18/02) ON MY WAY TO DROP OFF MY CHILDREN AT SCHOOL, A PASSENGER IN ANOTHER VEHICLE FLAGGED ME DOWN AND TOLD ME I HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS. ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DEALER AND THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS PART. THANK YOU.*AK
