DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS TEN TIMES SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, THE SENSOR FUEL VAPOR, THE EGR VALVE, AND THE SOLENOID VALVE. DOOR HANDLES AND BOTH MIRRORS,ARE DISCOLORED,LOOKS LIKE WHITE GLUE,WHEN I DRIVE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES CUT CAR OFF ,SOMETIME IT WILL NOT CRANK. I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS AND STILL PAYING FOR CAR AND TRANSMISSION REPAIR. I WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP AND WARRANTY CO. THESE PROBLEMS WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
THE REAR DOOR LATCH PLASTIC LINK BROKE FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE UP. *NM
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY DOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN I STRUCK A DEER, CAUSING $4,500 WORTH OF DAMAGE AND THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH MY WHOLE FRONT END WAS REPLACED INCLUDING THE FRONT BUMPER. THE DAMAGES TO MY CAR WERE REPLACED AND FIXED, BUT MITSUBISHI HAS YET TO INSPECT THE AIRBAGS TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO DEFECT. *JB
DT: THE VEHICLE LOST POWER IN THE DRIVEWAY. IT WAS TOTALLY DEAD. TOWED IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID MAIN FUSE HAD TO BE REPLACED, THEY REPLACED IT, THEN 5 DAYS LATER IT LOST THE POWER AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE ROAD. CALLED THE DEALER, AND HE SAID IT WAS AN AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY SAY THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME ON JULY 11, 2005.*AK
DRIVING AT 30 MILES AN HOUR ON CITY STREET. PREPARED TO STOP AT STOP LIGHT. THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND, AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN SECONDS WAS STEERED TO THE CURB FLIPPED AND CRASHED ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RACING AFTER THE VEHICLE CRASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DRIVER AND PASSEGER WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND RELEASED WITH CUTS AND BUMPS.
WE PURCHASED A NEW 2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT IN DECEMBER 2001. IT IS BLACK. THE CAR IS NOW 3.5 YEAR SOLD AND THE PAINT IS TURNING WHITE. IT STARTED TO HAVE A PROBLEM 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE WHEN THE CLEAR COAT STARTED TO CRACK. THEY RE-PAINTED THE ROOF. NOW IS IS OVER THE MILEAGE FOR COVERAGE UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE PAINT IS FADING SO FAST AND TURNING WHITE. MITSUBISHI IS GIVING US THE RUN AROUND. WE HAVE EVEN CONTACTED CORPORATE AND THEY PUSH US OFF ON SOMEONE REGIONAL THAT CONTINUES TO GIVE US THE RUN AROUND. THEY HAVE HAD TWO OUTSIDE PROFESSIONALS LOOK AT IT, AND THEY BOTH SAY THE PAINT IS DEFINITELY FAILING WAY BEFORE IT SHOULD. THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE. THIS CAR HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS SINCE WE BOUGHT IT, HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP OVER 35 DAYS.
HORN BECAME ERRATIC. WORKED SOMETIMES, THEN WOULDN'T WORK. NOW THE HORN ALWAYS SOUNDS. HAVE TO KEEP THE FUSE REMOVED TO TURN OFF THE HORN. WAS TOLD VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW AIRBAG TO FIX. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND IS A BLATANT SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO FIX FREE OF CHARGE. *JB
AIR CONDITIONER LEAKS INSIDE THE CAR ON DRIVERS SIDE AND IN FRONT AND BEHIND DRIVERS SEAT FLOOR MATS LITERALLY DRIPS WITH WATER AND FLOOR IS SOAKING WET. WE PURCHASED THE CAR WITH A BUMPER TO BUMPER 100,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM HAMPTON MITSUBISHI 4895 JOHNSTON ST LAFAYETTE, LA 70503. THEY TOLD US THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND FEEL SO DECEIVED AND HAVE VOWED TO NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER MITSUBISHI CAR AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND MISUBISHI CARS TO ANYONE. *JB
LEAKING A/C EVAPORATOR INTO FLOORBOARD OF DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE. USED A DEPENDABLE LOCAL MECHANIC TO WORK ON THE PROBLEM. THE LEAKING EVAPORATOR HAS BEEN CLEARED TWICE BY THE MECHANICS AND AFTER SPENDING OVER $600.00 THE PROBLEM IS YET TO BE RESOLVED. MITSUBISHI CORPORATE HAS YET TO RECALL THIS BUT THE MORE YOU RESEARCH THE MORE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE. THE 2001 GALANT HAS A SIGNIFICANT BACKGOUND OF DOCUMENTATION FROM THIS ONGOING PROBLEM AND MITSUBISHI WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT WHILE KNOWING THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. IN SHORT I WILL NOT BUY OR RECOMMEND MITSUBISHI PRODUCTS AGAIN. *JB
I AM SENDING A COMPLAINT REGARDING A 2001 MONTERO SPORT. THE VIN IS [XXX]. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH IS GOSSETT MITSUBISHI HERE IN MEMPHIS, TN AT LEAST FOUR TIMES SINCE LAST NOVEMBER REGARDING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY SLUGGISHLY AFTER I HAVE DRIVEN AROUND 100 MILES STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 70 TO 75 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE LAST PROBLEM THAT I HAD WITH MY VEHICLE WAS DURING ANOTHER ROAD TRIP. THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN SHIFTED SLUGGISHLY AND THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION RAN HOT AND SPEWED OUT TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH IN TURN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SMOKE BADLY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHICH MADE FOR A LONG TRIP HOME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND AGAIN THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG. THE SERVICE MANAGER NAMED [XXX] RECOMMENDED THAT I HAVE THEM INSTALL AN AFTER-MARKET CONDENSER TO HELP KEEP THE TRANSMISSION FLUID COOL. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO AGREE TO THIS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS AFTER-MARKET CONDENSER THAT WAS INSTALLED AT THIS DEALERSHIP IS NOT A MITSUBISHI PRODUCT. WILSON STATED TO ME THAT THIS PRODUCT IS USED MAINLY ON VEHICLES THAT ARE USED FOR TOWING, BUT I HAVE NEVER USED MY VEHICLE FOR TOWING NOR DOES IT HAVE A TOWING PACKAGE. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $268 DOLLARS FOR THIS PRODUCT INCLUDING LABOR. SO, NOW I HAVE A BRIGHT SILVER TRANSMISSION FLUID CONDENSER JUST BEHIND THE GRILL OF MY MONTERO SPORT. IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE. THE CLEARCOAT ON MY CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND THE HOOD, ROOF AND TRUNK HAVE TURNED COMPLETELY WHITE. *TR
THERE IS A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER MY CAR (2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT). THIS IS A NOISE THAT I HAVE NEVER HEARD BEFORE. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE NOISE IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION RACK. MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 44,500 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I CALLED THE MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP IN TOWN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT I WAS OUT OF LUCK. BUT THIS IS A MAJOR REPAIR (THE PART IS EXPENSIVE, ABOUT $750) AND IT IT NOT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. A SUSPENSION RACK IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BREAK ON A 2001 CAR WITH ONLY 44,500 MILES. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE? I CAN PAY FOR THE LABOR BUT I BELIEVE THAT MITSUBISHI IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGED PART. THANK YOU. CATHERINE CARLILE
PROBLEM #1) PURCHASED USED VEHICLE FROM PRIVATE SELLER. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR/WINDOW HAS RATTLING SOUND DURING DRIVING, CAUSING UNPLEASANT DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND CONCERN FOR SAFETY. DURING PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONS, DEALERSHIP(S) DID NOT HAD CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC EXPLANATION REGARDING CAUSE AND/OR SOLUTION. PROBLEM #2) REAR PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE DOOR, WHEN DOOR WAS SHUT, WITH THE CHILD SAFE LOCK UNLOCKED, PASSENGER IS UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE. DRIVER MUST OPEN PASSENGER DOOR FOR PASSENGER ON THE RIGHT, PROBLEM OCCUR OFTEN ON (AVERAGE 8 OUT OF 10 TIMES). PROBLEM WAS NOT DISCOVERED BY DEALERSHIP DURING PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION. PROBLEM #3 & #4) MOONROOF WILL NOT SHUT DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING (ABOVE 40 MPH) FROM TILTED POSITION. DRIVER HAVE TO OPEN MOONROOF (PRESS BUTTON TOWARD REAR SIDE OF VEHICLE) IN ORDER TO OPEN MOONROOF, THEN CLOSE MOONROOF (PRESS BUTTON TOWARD FRONT SIDE OF VEHICLE) TO CLOSE MOONROOF COMPLETELY. ALSO, OCCASIONALLY, WHEN CLOSING MOONROOF (FROM TILTED POSITION), MOONROOF DOES NOT CLOSE ENTIRELY, LEAVING AN INCH OF THE MOONROOF TILTED (AVERAGE 1 OUT OF 5 TIMES). *JB
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING JUST BELOW 60 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR SUSPENSION DROPPED TO THE GROUND AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OFF THE ROAD. DRIVER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THAT THE LEFT REAR SHOCK BROKE.*AK

I BOUGHT A 2001 MITSABUSHI GALANT AND THE CAR RUNS FINE BUT WHEN IT GETS COLD WEATHER MY TURN SIGNALS, WIPERS, HIGHBEAM WILL NOT WORK TILL THE CAR GETS WARM AND SOMETIMES IT JUST STOPS WORKING, WE HAVE CHANGED FUSES,BULBS NO ONE CAN FIND OUT WHAT IT IS EVERYONE SEEMS TO THINK THAT IT IS THE WIREING. THE WARRENTY IS OUT OF IT AND IT WAS A USED CAR WHEN WE GOT IT BUT I BOUGHT IT IN THE SUMMER AND BY WINTER IT WAS DOING THIS IT BOTHERS ME I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO HIT ME I DON'T KNOW IF THERE WAS EVER A RECALL ON THIS CAR FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND I WANTED TO CHECK TO SEE SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE BUT IF YOU COULD HELP ME FIND OUT IF THERE WAS A RECALL MAYBE THAT WOULD EXPLAIN IT. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE RIGHT, AND DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THEN, DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE REAR RIGHT TIRE AND RIM SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN AROUND. DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME. THE CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. THE DRIVER WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *AK

WHEN SHE BOUGHT THE CAR SHE WAS HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, AND THE DEALER REALLY DIDN'T' WANT' TO HELP HER WITH ANY OF HER PROBLEMS. SHE HAD AN ACCIDENT, SHE WAS NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT SHE SAID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON, AND SHE HAD A TIRE AND OIL CHANGE. SHE LOST ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE. SHE TRIED HITTING THE BRAKES AND SHE DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES. FINALLY THE CAR LANDED. THE DEALER JUST TOLD HER THAT SHE HIT SOMETHING, BUT SHE DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING. ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE ACCIDENT SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR A TIRE PRESSURE INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE, WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, THE CAR DROPPED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. SHE WAS GOING UNDER 60 MPH. *AK
DT: WHILE DRIVING ON THE FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, THE CAR DROPPED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAUSING THE CAR TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. WENT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED IN THE MEDIUM. ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHTS STAYED ON. DID TAKE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIX BUT THE LIGHTS STILL ARE ON. CALLED MANUFACTURER AND THEY WERE NO HELP IN THESE MATTERS. *NM
2001 GALANT ES DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION.*MR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR, WHICH RESULTED IN THE CONSUMER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE CONSUMER HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE OF THE RECURRING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS NOW SLIPPING, HOWEVER THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ONCE AGAIN IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE TRANSMISSION, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. ON JUNE 2, 2005 THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR AGAIN AND THE CONSUMER NOTICED WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE TAIL PIPE, MOMENTS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK FROM A LINE WHICH LED FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE LOWER PART OF THE RADIATOR AND WAS USED AS A COOLER LINE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS.*AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT SWERVED RIGHT AND HIT A TREE. IT WAS A DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY FRIEND AND I NOTICED AN ANTIFREEZE SMELL AND THE WINDSHIELD STARTED TO FOG. WE BOTH WORK ON CARS FOR A LIVING AND WE BOTH KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. THE HEATER CORE. WHAT SURPRISED ME WAS THAT MY CAR ONLY HAS 35K MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER SEEN A HEATER CORE FAIL WITH SO LITTLE MILES ON IT. THE PART COST ME $200 AND THE LABOR, WHICH I WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO PERFORM, TOOK THE BETTER PART OF A DAY. THE CAR'S COMPUTER IS LOCATED BENEATH THE HEATER CORE BUT LUCKILY I CAUGHT IT IN TIME OR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BY STALLING THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY. I IMMEDIATELY PARKED THE CAR AND CALLED FOR A TOW TO KEEP FROM CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, DAMAGING THE VERY EXPENSIVE COMPUTER, AND BREATHING THE TOXIC FUMES FROM THE ANTIFREEZE. *JB
MY AIRCONDITIONING SYSTEM APPEARS TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF DEFECT. THREE TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR, WHICH IS HOW LONG I HAVE HAD THE CAR, THE AIRCONDITIONING HAS BECOME CLOGGED AND THE PAN FILLS SO THAT WHEN I TURN A CORNER THE WATER FROM THE PAN FLOODS THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THE CLOG REMOVED TWICE, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE WAY THIS IS MADE. IT SHOULD NOT DO THIS.
THE EXHAUST PIPE STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP. DEALER INDICATED A CRACK HAD DEVELOPED IN THE EXHAUST PIPE. ALSO THIS WAS A COMMON PRACTICE WITH THESE VEHICLES, AND IT MAY BE A DEFECT IN THIS PART. *AK
CAR SHIMMIES WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE SPEED SENSOR (I THINK) WAS REPLACED ONCE, NEW BRAKE PADS WERE INSTALLED. THE ROTORS WERE NOT CHECKED OR REPLACED.
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE GAS NEEDLE WENT FROM FULL TO EMPTY. THE GAS TANK WAS FULL BUT READ EMPTY. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO KNOW WHAT THE GAS LEVEL ACTUALLY WAS.*AK
2001MITSUBISHI GALANT ES, I WANT TO DRIVE A SAFE CAR WITH NO FIRE OR ACCIDENTS,I FOUND 7 RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR AND MAKE I WENT TO THE MITSUBISHI AT 34-54 44TH.STREET LONG ISLAND CITY 718-361-6900 SERVICE ADVISOR ANTHONY SERRONE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR AND I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 01/04/09 AT 8:00 AM TO INSPECT MY CAR FOR DANGER SIGNS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME, I WAS TOLD I NEED IDLE CONTROL MODULE TO BE INSTALLED AND NOISE FROM THE BOTTOM AND BRAKING MAKES ROUGH SOUND AND THE SMELL OF FUEL IN THE CAR AND FEEL HEAT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. *TR
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD, TOP, TRUNK, AND SIDE OF THE CAR HAS FADED AND RUSTED CAUSING THE TOP OF THE CAR TO LEAK INSIDE WHEN IT RAINS. I HAD FILED A COMPLAINT ON JUNE 20, 2005. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE ABOUT THIS. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. *JB

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO A HIGH RATE, CAUSING IT TO HIT A WALL. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE TRYING TO GET OUT OF A CONVENIENT STORE PARKING LOT, I EXPERIENCED ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL AND DRAMATIC SITUATIONS OF MY LIFE!!! AS I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT THE AUTOMATIC GEAR ON REVERSE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR JUST TOOK OFF ON A VERY HIGH SPEED MAKING TIRE MARKS ON THE PARKING LOT AND THE CAR STOPPED FROM THE GAS PUMP AREA. WHEN I TRIED TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO THE PARKING SPACE TO SEE AND EVALUATE THE SITUATION, AS SOON AS I PUT THE CAR IN THE DRIVE POSITION IT JUST TOOK OFF AGAIN TOWARDS THE CONVENIENT STORE WITH THIS HUGE ENGINE NOISE AND THE BRAKE WOULD NOT WORK TO STOP THE HIGH SPEED ENGINE! THE VEHICLE'S TIRES MADE A VERY STRONG AND LASTING IMAGE ON THE PARKING BRICK AND WENT OVER IT TO CRASH IN TO THE STORE! THE THIRD TIME I TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE MESS AND PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND AGAIN IT WENT BACK WARD CHARGING TOWARDS THE GAS PUMPS AREA WITH STRONG ENGINE HIGH PERFORMANCE NOISE. I HAVE REPLACED THE PADS AND TURNED THE ROTORS ON A 2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT DE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR SHIMMYING AND POOR BRAKING ABILITY. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR ONLY 5,000 MILES. I CAN SEE THAT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE OR TURN THE ROTORS AGAIN AND POSSIBLY REPLACE THE BRAKES. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT ES. I HAVE ALSO TALKED TO OTHER OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. AFTER I AHVE FOUND THIS WEB SITE I WILL REFER THEM TO WRITE A COMPLAINT. I WAS SITTING IN AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO TURN LEFT. AS I BEGAN TO TURN A PICKUP TRUCK RAN THE LIGHT AND HIT ME HEAD ON AT APPROX 45 MPH. NONE OF MY 4 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED -- DRIVER FRONT & SIDE AIRBAGS NOR THE PASSENGER FRONT & SIDE AIRBAGS. THE FRONT END WAS COMPLETELY SMASHED UP. MY CAR WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND SUBSEQUENTLY RULED AS A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW NONE OF THESE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN THIS ACCIDENT! *JB

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE MARBACH RD AT 40 MI HR STREET SURFACE CHANGED AND MY ANTI LOCK AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. READ THE MANUAL TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM DID AS SAID AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF BUT CAME BACK ON LATER THAT DAY. TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR SHUT OFF, I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. A SOUND OF A THUMP AND A WHINING SOUND THEN THE BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN. CALLED DEALER SAID 180.00 PER WHEEL PLUS 72.00 TO FIND WHICH WHEEL BECAUSE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS FEEL THIS CAN BE HAZARD AS I DRIVE SOME TIME THE CAR WILL PULL OPPOSITE DIRECTION. IN RAINING WEATHER THE CAR HAS LITTLE TO NO TRACTION.*AK
MOLD HAD DEVELOPED AROUND THE DOORS AND WINDOWS OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED A HORRENDOUS SMELL. THE MOLD SPORES CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO BECOME SICK FOR FOUR MONTHS. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *JB *NM
AT JUST AFTER 48,000 MILES ON THE 2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT ES V6, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES, WHICH HAD RECENTLY BEEN REPLACED, MADE LOUD ECHOING CRUNCH NOISES. BRAKING DISTANCE INCREASED. THE BRAKES HAD ALMOST ALWAYS BEEN WOBBLY, EVEN WITH NEWLY MACHINED ROTORS. ALSO, FRONT AND SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN VEHICLE REAR-ENDED A TAHOE ON A DIFFERENT OCCASION. *JB

2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT LS V6 WITH 30,000 MILES. HAS BEEN IN SHOP OVER 5 TIMES. HAS BEEN TOWED INTO SHOP ONCE FOR NOT STARTING DUE TO FUEL INJECTION PROBLEMS. WAS DIAGNOSED WITH DEFECTIVE SIDE AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS, ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. HAS SERIOUS STEERING VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING. DEALER TOLD US IT WAS ONLY THE TIRES AND THEY OVERINFLATED MY TIRES TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED AND HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE VEHICLE HAD 15,000 MILES AND TIRES WERE PROPERLY ROTATED AND BALANCED. CONCERNED THAT VEHICLE POSES SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARDS. *NLM
THE BATTERY FAILED AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE FIRST BATTERY WAS REPLACED 18 MONTHS AGO. *AK *NLM
BRAKES FAILED. THE BREAKS BEGAN SQUEAKING THEN THEY FAILED WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. SLID INTO THE INTERSECTION AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS CAR SAVED MY WIFE'S LIFE WITH THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS BUT ALSO CAUSED THE WRECK. THE CARS FLUIDS ARE SERVICED REGULARLY AND HAD ALL FLUIDS, THE CAR JUST FAILED TO STOP. *NLM
I WAS IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON MARCH 17 2003. MY CAR WAS TOTALED IN THE ACCIDENT. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS CAVED IN. THE PROBLEM WAS, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE ACCIDENT LIKE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. THE TYPE OF VEHICLE WAS A 2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT ES. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR. THE SHUTTLE BUS THAT HIT ME PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND WE COLLIDED. I AM REALLY UPSET BUT THANK GOD I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON.
