Moon roof detached while driving on the highway
Dealer wants to replace rear lower control arms due to corrosion and the car control arms were never addressed when I took it into the dealer for recall 16V458. The dealer was supposed to add a anti corrosion spray to the control arms in the front and back. The corrosion is very bad with these parts on my car and I am very concerned about safety.
The contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that after turning the front windshield wipers off, the driver’s side and passenger’s side windshield wipers remained in the upright position. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V791000 (Visibility). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
High Point Mitsubishi in High Point NC preformed the recall in regards to rust forming on the underside crossmember of this vehicle. Less than 3 years later this vehicle is immovable because of the exact same reason as the original recall. The technician obviously overlooked areas of which to spray the rust preventative in which caused the structural integrity to completely fail at the front mounting location of the driver side control arm onto the crossmember. This vehicle is not safe to drive any longer because of Mitsubishi's lack of thoroughness in performing and evaluating the situation and the condition of said crossmember. High Point Mitsubishi now insists that the issue was resolved even after clear pictures have been sent showing the clear damage and obvious nature of the reasoning of the recall in the first place but argue that they took care of the recall although obviously the exact issue that the recall was made for is thr reason this vehicle is no longer driveable.
The cross member is rusted through with holes in it. Dangerous to drive.
The contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, he heard a cracking sound coming from the sunroof. When the contact exposed the glass portion of the sunroof, the sunroof shattered. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V071000 (Visibility) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
EARLY FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION ON OUTLANDERS IS KNOWN PROBLEM AND PUTS DRIVERS AT RISK FOR SERIOUS INJURY WHEN THE CAR GOES INTO A SAFE MODE LEAVING THE CAR STRANDED IN THE ROAD. MY CAR GAVE ME NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION ON A SUNDAY MORNING. IT TOOK > 1 HOUR TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED OUT OF HARMS WAY.
ABS PUMP MOTOR ECU INTERNAL FAILURE -LOSES BATTERY VOLTAGE SIGNAL INTERNALLY

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT SCHAUMBURG MITSUBISHI (660 EAST GULF RD, SCHAUMBURG, IL) UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND CROSS MEMBERS SUSTAINED SEVERE RUSTING AND CORROSION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V458000 (STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THERE IS SOME PROBLEM WITH BRAKE. THE ABS AND ASR LIGHTS ARE ON. SO I DECIDED TO GO TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE CAR AND HE TOLD ME ABS PUMP IS BROKEN. STARTED WHEN I WAS DRIVING.

AFTER MY ABS, TCS, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON, I STARTED TO RESEARCH WHAT MY PROBLEM WAS. COME TO FIND OUT THE ABS PUMP MOTOR IS GETTING LOW VOLTAGE RESULTING IN POOR BRAKING AND OVERALL DRIVEABILITY IN ANY WEATHER. IN MY RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY MITSUBISHI'S AROUND THIS YEAR. I WAS COMPLETELY FINE WITH REPLACING THE PARTS BECAUSE THE CAR ISN'T SAFE FOR MY CHILDREN, BUT WHEN LOOKING INTO THE COST OF REPLACEMENT OF SUCH A SMALL PART, I (ALONG WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE) CAN NOT AFFORD TO SPEND ~$2000 TO MAKE OUR CARS SAFE. IF THIS HAS TRULY BEEN A PROBLEM FOR SO LONG WHY HASN'T MITSUBISHI HANDLED IT YET. UNTIL I CAN FIND A CHEAP REPLACEMENT OR IF MITSUBISHI CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY, I WILL BE DRIVING MY 2010 OUTLANDER WITH NO ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL. WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE.
I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO MANE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX 6 RECALLS MY VEHICLE HAS, WITH NO LUCK ITS BEEN 2 MONTHS AND NO CALL BACK.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A COUNTRY ROAD IN THE MORNING, TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 60 DEGREES. THE SUNROOF ON MY 2010 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER WAS NOT OPEN BUT THE SAFETY SCREEN WAS PUSHED BACK. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A COUNTRY ROAD OUT OF NOWHERE I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. THE NOISE IS WHAT I WOULD DESCRIBE AS A LOUD BANG OR GUNSHOT LIKE SOUND. I COULD FEEL PIECES OF GLASS FALL DOWN ON TOP OF ME. WHEN I LOOKED UP I COULD SEE THAT THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL HOLE IN MY SUNROOF AND ALL OF THE GLASS AROUND THE HOLE WAS SHATTERED INTO A MILLION PIECES. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION OF THE GLASS UPON STOPPING MY CAR, IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THE GLASS WAS BROKEN FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WITH THE GLASS BLOWING PARTIALLY OUTWARD. THERE WAS NO OUTSIDE FORCE THAT CAUSED THIS TO OCCUR.

THE VEHICLE REMAINED PARKED AT THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,668.
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC AND AIR SYSTEM IS ON OUTSIDE AIR, STRONG EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CABIN OF VEHICLE. ALSO WHEN VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING IN REGULAR HIGHWAY TRAFFIC APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR AND WHEN THE DEFROSTER OR HEATER ARE ON, STRONG EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE VEHICLE CABIN. THIS ISSUE JUST STARTED IN THE LAST MONTH. THE AIR FILTER AND CABIN FILTERS HAVE BEEN CHANGED IN MAY. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE IS KEPT UP.
I AM HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT I THOUGHT WERE JUST IN MY STEERING COLUMN BUT NOW I AM FINDING OTHER ISSUES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. 1.) THE STEERING WHEEL VOLUME CONTROL EITHER DOES NOT WORK OR INCREASES WHEN THE DECREASE BUTTON IS PUSHED. 2.) THE STICK CONTROL FOR SIGNALING WILL NOT LOCK THE HIGH BEAMS ON SO IF YOU NEED THE EXTRA LIGHT YOU WOULD HAVE TO HOLD THE STICK BACK MANUALLY. 3.) THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT WILL NOT ALWAYS TURN ON/SHUT OFF.
AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER FOR FIXING THE 4B1 ENGINE DRIVE BELT NO MORE THAN 15 MIN DRIVING ON TO THE HIGHWAY MY CAR STALED AND DIED LUCKILY I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN IT OCCURRED, I GOT IT TO START BACK UP BY RETURNING THE ENGINE OVER. 15 MIN AGAIN IT PRECEDED TO DO IT TWO MORE TIMES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
CROSS MEMBER RECALL. I WENT TO DO THE CROSS MEMBER REPLACEMENT AT CORNERSTONE MITSUBISHI IN WILMINGTON, MA 01887 ON 4/8/17. IN ADDITION TO REPLACING THE CROSS MEMBER, THEY ALSO REPLACED MY BRAKES. TOTALLY THEY CHARGED ME $700. THE WHOLE SERVICE TOOK LESS THAN 3 HOURS (12:05-3:00 PM). BASED ON MITSUBISHI RECALL POLICY, TO REPLACE THE CROSS MEMBER AND FINISH THE CROSSPONDING SAFETY INSPECTION, IT WOULD TAKE AT LEAST 2 HOURS AND IT SHOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE. HOWEVER, I PAID FOR FOR THE LABOR FOR 4 HOURS AT $120 PER HOUR AND IT IS $480 TOTALLY. I BELIEVE THEY PERFORMED UNNECESSARY REPAIR TO MY CAR AND CHARGED LABOUR FEES FOR THE FREE SAFETY RECALL (FOR DETAIL, SEE THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT). PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS CASE. IF YOU NEED ANY MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
4/08/2017, MY CAR MADE A NOISE LIKE SOMEONE HAD SHOT OUT MY BACK WINDSHIELD. I WAS STUCK IN TRAFFIC AND I COULD NOT SEE EXACTLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED, NEITHER COULD I EXIT OFF THE INTERSTATE. I WENT ABOUT 20 YARDS AND THEN HEARD ANOTHER EXPLOSION LIKE MY GLASS HAD SHATTERED. I WAS LOOKING AROUND TO SEE IF I COULD SEE ANYTHING,I COULD NOT. I HEARD THE GLASS STILL MOVING, SOMETHING TOLD ME TO SLIDE BACK THE COVER OF MY SUN ROOF A LITTLE. WHEN I DID, I SAW THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. I DID NOT GET INJURED BECAUSE I HAD THE SUNROOF COVER CLOSED. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. THE MITSUBISHI DEALER HAS AGREED TO FIX THE SUNROOF FREE OF CHARGE. MY CAR HAS ONLY 54,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MITSUBISHI FOR 30 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
BRAKES WHICH CAUSE THE VEHICLE NOT TO MOVE OR MOVE SLOWER THAN 20MPH. FRESNO DEALER WAS UNABLE TO BE CONTACTED FOR MONTHS. MY WIFE HAS BEEN FRUSTRATED WITH A VEHICLE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE THING TO KEEP OUR FAMILY SAFE. TRAVELING WITH OUR 2 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 2 HAS NOT FELT SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.
ISSUES WITH THE IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM. CAR WILL CUT OFF AFTER ERRATIC IDLING WHILE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHTS. IDLING WILL REGULATE IF CAR IS PLACE IN PARK BUT WILL START AGAIN WHEN PUT IN DRIVE.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER 2016 THAT CONCERNING WINDSHIELD WIPER LINK SEPERATION. IT IS NOW 3 MONTHS AND I AM STILL BEING TOLD BY MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PART TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I THINK I HAVE BEEN MORE THAN PATIENT AFTER WAITING 3 MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER IS SR-16-009 AND THE NHTSA RECALL NUMBER IS 16V791. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME GET THIS RESOLVED.
VEHICLE DISPLAYS ABS/ASC WARNING/SERVICE REQUIRED. MY MECHANIC SAYS IT'S THE ABS PUMP, WHICH WILL COST OVER $2000 IN PARTS/LABOR TO REPLACE. ACCORDING TO SOMEONE WHO WORKS AT A LOCAL MITSUBISHI DEALER, THE 2010 ABS PUMPS ARE FLAWED - MANY VEHICLES HAVE HAD THE PUMP REPLACED. MY MECHANIC SAID IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT ADVISES TO TAKE EXTRA CARE IN HEAVY RAIN/SNOW/ICE. MEANWHILE THE SERVICE LIGHT REMAINS ON. I ALREADY REPLACED THE REAR TIRE ABS SENSOR (ALMOST $1000) BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. )PROBABLY RELATED TO THE PROBLEM WITH THE PUMP.) I DON'T THINK IT'S RIGHT THAT MITSUBISHI KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT'S AN EXPENSIVE FIX. THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR BOTTOM LINE BEFORE CUSTOMERS' SAFETY. PAINT ON HOOD STARTED TO CHIP AROUND 48,000 MILES. EACH TIME I APPLY TOUCH PAINT, THE PAINT START TO CRACK IN THE SAME AREA OVER FROM THE TOUCH UP.THE SHINY GLOSS IS STILL THERE IS JUST THE PAINT BEGAN TO CHIP OFF. I HAVE 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR NOW AND 2 NEW CHIPS APPEAR ON THE HOOD

TPMS OF FRONT LEFT TIRE FELL INSIDE, TIRE SUDDENLY BECAME FLAT. INCIDENT HAPPENED ON 695 HWY,EXIT 12A. ALL TIRES OF THIS CAR ARE WITH DEFECTED TPMS.

ON OCTOBER 20TH I RECEIVED A RECALL TO HAVE THE DRIVE BELT CHANGED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE DRIVE BELT CHANGED, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER YET. I CALLED AGAIN TODAY, AND THEY STILL DON'T HAVE IT. THEY ALSO DON'T KNOW WHEN ARE THEY GETTING IT. *TR
RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL IN EARLY OCTOBER 2014 REGARDING A DRIVE BELT RECALL FOR 2010 OUTLANDER. HAVE MADE SEVERAL CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE REPLACEMENT ONLY TO BE TOLD THE REQUIRED PARTS ON ARE NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND TO CALL BACK EVERY 2 WEEKS. THEY WERE ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THERE IS NO ESTIMATED DATE FOR THE PARTS TO BE RECEIVED. *TR

WE HAD CONTACTED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS FOR MITSUBISHI, (ONTARIO MITSUBISHI HAS CLOSED), SAN BERNARDINO (909-884-7700), RIVERSIDE (951-509-1000), PUENTE HILLS (626-964-5111), AND EVERY DEALERSHIP HAD THE SAME REPLY: THEY DO NOT HAVE NOR STOCK THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. WE CONTACTED MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT CYPRESS, CA (1-888-648-7820) AND SPOKE WITH [XXX] WHO STATED THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT READY/NOT IN STOCK YET. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DRIVE BELT RECALL REIMBURSEMENT. *SMD MITSUBISHI STATED SINCE THE CONSUMER ALREADY HAD THE DRIVE BELTS REPLACED, HE WAS NOT ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, THE BELT WOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE, ONLY IF THE CONSUMER ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER HAD THE DRIVE BELTS REPLACED AS UNDER THE 60,000 MILE MAINTENANCE. *JB
AIR BAGS FAIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. FOUND AIR BAGS WIRE HARDNESS DAMAGED UNDER PASSENGER SEAT. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITING AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT MAY NOT DEPLOY, INCREASING RISK OF INJURY. MY TPMS SENSOR CAME OUT AND FALLEN INTO TIRE CAUSING TIRE TO LOOSE ALL AIR...THEN AFTER 2 MORE MONTH THE OTHER TPMS SENSOR CAME OUT AGAIN (6/18/2014). *TR
