TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY. LOWERING THE SPEED REDUCED THE VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AXLE SEPARATED FROM THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAUSED THE VIBRATION IN THE DRIVESHAFT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY PROBLEMS THE LAST COUPLE YEARS WITH MY CAR, I NOTICED LAST YEAR WHEN I WAS ON A LONG DISTANCE ROAD TRIP THAT MY TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING LIGHT WAS COMING ON? I HAD TO PULL OVER A COUPLE TIMES AND LET IT COOL DOWN BEFORE I COULD CONTINUE... IT STOPPED DOING IT FOR AWHILE, AND THEN NOW MY CAR IS LOSING ACCELLERATION ON THE FREEWAY AND SEEMS TO BE STALLING , IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NO ONE AT MITSUBISHI OR OTHER SHOPS KNOWS WHATS WRONG? PLEASE HELP
A/C SYSTEM BLOWER: ONLY BLOWING COLD AIR FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE AND HOT AIR ON THE PASSAGE'S SIDES WHEN A/C IS ON. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF ON STREET/STATIONARY/IN MOTION,ETC. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM,IT IS HAPPENING TOO ALL MITSUBISHI VEHICLES FROM 2011 TOO 2012. SERVICE MANAGER AT THE MITSUBISHI DEALER AND SERVICES IN ANDERSON TOLD ME THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TOO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS. THEY CAN'T FOUND FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM HE WAS TELLING ME,,, THEY DO THE FREON TEST WITH DYE AND SHOWS NOTHING LEAKING. EVERY YEAR YOU NEED TOO PUT IN FREON FOR THE A/C TOO BLOW THE COLD AIR IN ALL VENTS WHICH YOU HAVE TOO PAY AT THE DEALER WITH WITH DIATONIC CHARGE WHICH IS EVERY EXPENSIVE AND A LOT OF OWNERS CAN'T PAY FOR THE SERVICE CHARGES AND FEES,DUE TOO LIMITED INCOME,AND STILL NO PROBLEM FOUND,AFTER PLACING THE FREON IN,COLD AIR COMES OUT OF BOTH VENTS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO MITSUBISHI. PROBLEM EXISTED IN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM. UNDER LOW SPEED, 5 TO 10 MPH OR LESS, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING OCCASIONALLY (USUALLY AFTER A FULL TURNING OF STEERING WHEEL TO THE LIMIT). WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS, NO POWER ASSIST FUNCTIONALITY FUNCTIONING, SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES STEERING EFFORTS, THUS INCREASES VEHICLE CRASHING POSSIBILITIES SIGNIFICANTLY. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN ONLY DRIVEN FOR LESS THAN 4 YEARS. A SELF CHECK ON THE STEERING SYSTEM SHOWED WITH NO LEAKING STEERING FLUID AND COMPLETELY CLEAN STEERING FLUID WHEN THE INCIDENTS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A BRICK BOULDER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. ALSO, WHILE DESCENDING DOWN A HILL AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE MESSAGE "VEHICLE IMMOBILIZED" SUDDENLY DISPLAYED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS, SUCH AS NOT IMMEDIATELY SHUTTING OFF WHEN PRESSING THE OFF AND ON BUTTON AND THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT CLOSE INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN SOMEONE TOUCHED THE METAL ON THE VEHICLE, THE PERSON WOULD EXPERIENCE ELECTRICAL SHOCKS. THE CAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 1.5 MONTHS AND COUNTING FOR A LOCAL MITSUBISHI DEALER TO REPLACE MY DRIVE BELT PER INSTRUCTIONS IN THE "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" NOTICE. I HAVE CALLED EVERY LOCAL DEALER WITH THE PROMISE OF RETURNING MY CALL WHEN THEY RECEIVE THE PARTS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS AND THE NHTSA CONSIDER TO BE "PROMPT" CONSIDERING THESE ARE SAFETY RISKS THAT PUT MYSELF, MY FAMILY, AND OTHERS AT RISK ON A DAILY BASIS UNTIL THE PART IS REPAIRED. IS IT 45 DAYS? 180 DAYS? THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT I HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT, DRIVING MY POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CAR EVERY DAY, WHEN THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND A KNOWN SOLUTION. WHEN ISSUING A RECALL, I WOULD EXPECT THAT THE MANUFACTURER AND NHTSA WOULD BE ADEQUATELY PREPARED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUE TIMELY RATHER THAN ALLOWING THIS ISSUE TO CREATE EXTRA RISK. I WENT ON VACATION FOR SEVEN DAYS AND WHEN I RETURNED I STARTED THE VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD AND IT STARTED JUST FINE. THE NEXT MORNING AS I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR WORK, THE VEHICLE STALLED. I CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY. I THEN TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY STATED THE ENGINE MAY BE DONE FOR BECAUSE THE COMPRESSION LEVELS WERE READING VERY LOW AND THE HIGHEST READING WAS A 41 OF THE FOUR CYLINDERS. THEY SUGGESTED ITS EITHER THE TIMING BELT OR THE ENGINE AND THAT THE TIMING BELT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE BAD WITH ONLY 60, 489 MILES. I CONTACTED MITSUBISHI AND LEARNED I WAS OVER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BY 489 MILES. I'M LOST FOR WORDS AND DO NOT WHETHER TO GO FORWARD AND GET IT FIXED OR IF THERE'S ANY OTHER OPTIONS FOR ME.I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MY TIMING BELT COULD HAVE WENT OUT WHILE SITTING IN MY PARKING LOT WHEREAS MOST BREAK WHILE DRIVING. DURING A SNOW STORM SNOW BECAME PACKED INTO THE RIMS AND CAUSED SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE TIRES. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THE NEXT SNOW STORM. THERE HAVE BEEN 4 OCCASIONS OF DRIVING THROUGH SNOW AND EACH TIME THE CAR SHAKES BADLY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO COMPLAIN AND I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE OTHER THAN TO STOP AND PHYSICALLY REMOVE THE SNOW OR TAKE IT TO A CAR WASH. *TR

THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR FOR THE HEADLIGHT SHOWS THE PARKING LIGHT SYMBOL FOR BOTH THE PARKING LIGHTS AND THE HEADLIGHTS. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE FROM THE DASHBOARD WHICH LIGHTS ARE BEING USED. THIS COULD RESULT IN DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THE PARKING LIGHTS ON WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE NEEDED. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THE HEADLIGHT SYMBOL SHOULD BE USED WHENEVER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 55 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE WHERE THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER DID NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,300.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SIX TIMES FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE WHERE BOTH ENGINE OIL FEEDERS WERE REPLACED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
