The contact owns a 2009 Nissan 370Z. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the steering wheel locked up, and the contact was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where a mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with steering module failure. The contact called the dealer to schedule an appointment, and the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under Nissan Voluntary Service Campaign Number: P3208; free of charge, because the vehicle had already been previously repaired under the Voluntary Service Campaign. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact the vehicle history did not display the completion of Nissan Voluntary Service Campaign Number: P3208, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 176,000.
Seatbelts won’t retract easily from both driver and passenger side.
VEHICLE FUEL GAUGE SAID 1/4 OF A TANK AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT OFF ON A BUSY ROAD MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME AND AS I WAS TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM I ADDED GAS TO THE TANK AND THE CAR STARTED. OBVIOUSLY THE PROBLEM IS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT.
THE DASHBOARD IN THE CAR IS GREYING AND STICKY (SAME AS 2008-09 ALTIMAS, 2011 MAXIMAS, TOYOTAS, ETX) AND CAN CREATE A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE SUN REFLECTING OFF OF THE GLUE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
I PURCHASED MY FIRST NISSAN, A 2009 370Z, IN 2018. I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START, AFTER READING VARIOUS FORUMS ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THE ISSUE WITH THE 370Z IS WELL DOCUMENTED TO THE ESCL (ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK) ISSUE. THERE IS NO WARNING TO THIS OCCURRING; I DROVE MY CAR TO THE STORE AND THEN HOME, AN HOUR LATER WENT TO START TO THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE ONLY LEAD I HAD WAS THE INTELLIGENT KEY WARNING LIGHT, THAT WHEN REFERENCED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THIS WILL LOCK THE STEERING COLUMN AND PREVENT THE CAR FROM STARTING. THIS IS USUALLY TRIGGERED FROM AN UNREGISTERED KEY BUT MY KEYS WERE REGISTERED AND HAD WORKED WITH THE CAR FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT IT. THE CAR HAS HAD THIS MODULE CHANGED OUT FOR PARTS ARE DATED, AND THE CURRENT MODULE IS DATED FROM 2012, AFTER THE CAR WAS RELEASED IN 2009. I AM NOT FACED WITH REPLACING THIS PART TO GET MY 370Z TO START, I HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE NISSAN SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WILL BE ABOUT $1100 TO FIX. IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THE ESCL THAT NISSAN USES IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF STORIES OF PEOPLE STRANDED. NISSAN CLAIMS TO HAVE FIXED THIS ISSUE BUT CLEARLY THEY HAVE NOT. CURRENTLY NISSAN IS RECALLING THE 2009 ALTIMA DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ESCL AND REPAIR THEM FOR FREE. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAD BOUGHT A 2009 370Z, THE SAME YEAR AS THE ALTIMA, YOU MUST PAY FOR THE DEFECT. THE ESCL THAT HAS TO BE INSTALLED IS PART # 48700-9N00B, WHICH IS THE SIXTH (6) PART NUMBER FOR THE ESCL.
My vehicle has only 12,400 miles, and the passenger air bag light will not go off and the airbag light in the dash keeps blinking. Millions of Nissan vehicles have had the same problem. I want my Nissan dealership, where I purchased this vehicle ( M’Lady in Crystal Lake, IL ), to fix this at no cost to me.
MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL) THAT LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF TO HELP PREVENT THEFT. ON SOME VEHICLES, DUE TO A MANUFACTURING IRREGULARITY,THE ESCL MAY MALFUNCTION AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN LOCKED AND COULD PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM STARTING. THIS CONDITION, SHOULD IT OCCUR, WILL ONLY OCCUR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAPPENED WITH MY NISSAN 370Z YESTERDAY. THANK GOD I WASN;T STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. AND LUCKILY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR OTHER BUSY ROAD. I HAVE READ THAT NISSAN HAS ALREADY RECALLED THIS PART FOR THEIR 2009-10 NISSAN ALTIMA, ALTIMA COUPE, ALTIMA HYBRID, AND MAXIMA VEHICLES BUT HAVE NOT READ ABOUT INCLUDING THEIR 2009-10 NISSAN 370Z MODELS. MULTIPLE 370Z FORUMS CONFIRM THAT THE 2009-10 370Z MODELS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AS THE RECALLED NISSAN MODELS. THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. 2009-10 NISSAN 370Z CUSTOMERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THE NEW PART AND LABOR JUST LIKE NISSAN ALTIMA, ALTIMA COUPE, ALTIMA HYBRID, AND MAXIMA CUSTOMERS DON'T HAVE TO.
THE GAS READING IS ALWAYS MESSED UP SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, IT'S LEFT ME STRANDED MY LAST 350Z ALSO DID THIS I WON'T SHOP NISSAN WITH THESE ISSUES IF I'M FORCED TO PAY FOR THIS ISSUE TWICE
I GOT INTO MY STATIONARY VEHICLE AND WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON IT REMAINED IN THE LOCK POSITION. THE STEERING LOCK SENSOR LIGHT WAS ON AND IT WON'T CHANGE INTO THE ACC OR ON POSITION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME, FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO FIX IT.
I PURCHASED MY FIRST NISSAN, A 2009 370Z, IN 2009. AS OF TODAY THE CAR HAS HAD FOUR (4) ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCKS (ESCL) INSTALLED. THE ESCL THAT NISSAN USES IS DEFECTIVE, WHICH RESULTS IN LEAVING THEIR CUSTOMERS STRANDED. THIS, IN MY OPINION IS UNCONSCIONABLE. THE LATEST FAILURE OF THE ESCL LEFT ME STRANDED OUT OF TOWN. I HAVE NO FAITH THAT THE FOURTH ESCL WILL BE ANY BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS THREE THAT NISSAN HAS INSTALLED. IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THE ESCL THAT NISSAN USES IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF STORIES OF PEOPLE STRANDED IN UNSAFE AREAS DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE PART. NISSAN CLAIMS TO HAVE FIXED THIS ISSUE BUT CLEARLY THEY HAVE NOT. MY CAR WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS STARTING, HOWEVER THE ESCL THAT NISSAN HAVE INSTALLED WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO START. NISSAN WILL NOT ALLOW MY CAR TO START UNLESS I PAY THEM TO INSTALL A DEFECTIVE PART. SO I HAD TO PAY THEM. CURRENTLY NISSAN IS RECALLING THE 2009 ALTIMA DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ESCL AND REPAIR THEM FOR FREE. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAD BOUGHT A 2009 370Z, THE SAME YEAR AS THE ALTIMA, YOU MUST PAY THEM, AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. THE FOURTH (4) ESCL THAT WAS INSTALLED IS PART # 48700-9N00B, WHICH IS THE SIXTH (6) PART NUMBER FOR THE ESCL. I CAN ATTEST TO THE FACT THAT ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THIS PART ARE COMPLETE FAILURES. NISSAN WILL TELL YOU THAT THEY HAVE NOW GOT THE PART TO WORK. THEY HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY WRONG ON ALL FIVE PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS. IT IS TIME FOR THE NHSTA TO GET INVOLVED AND DECLARE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHENEVER YOU TURN YOUR CAR OFF, YOU NEVER KNOW IF IT WILL RESTART. WHEN YOU FILL YOUR GAS TANK UP, YOU HAVE TO DECIDE IF YOU SHOULD TURN IT OFF AND THEN BLOCK THE FUEL PUMP FOR AN HOUR WHILE WAITING ON A TOW TRUCK, OR LET IT RUN AND RISK A FIRE. I WROTE NISSAN A LETTER ABOUT THIS ISSUE, WAITED THREE (3) MONTHS, AND THEY NEVER REPLIED!!
THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK DEVICE HAS BEEN FAILING DAILY.I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MARCH OF 2014 AND I HAVE ALL OF THE PAPERWORK THAT SHOWS THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK IT TO AUTONATION NISSAN CHANDLER AND UNDER RECALL P3208 IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IN 2013. I DIDN'T EVEN OWN THE CAR TIL 2014!THE NTB13-014 ALSO WAS ON THE INVOICE. IT SAYS THEY REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK UNIT- I HAVE SPENT OVER $20K ON MY Z ( NOT INCLUDING THE PRICE OF THE CAR, AND I CAN'T EVEN GET LARRY H MILLER NISSAN TO TAKE CARE OF IT. THEY WANT $1500. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW LARRY H MILLER NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS AND NEW THE DATES IT WAS 'FIXED' AT THE OTHER DEALERSHIP, AND FAILED TO NOTIFY ME WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION.I HAVE ALL MY INVOICES FOR WORK DONE,AND A NISSAN W 44,000 MILES HAS HAD ENDLESS PROBLEMS -PLEASE HELP. I AM DISABLED, AND THIS IS A HUGE FINANCIAL BURDEN FOR ME,I REALLY HAD A LOT OF CONFIDENCE IN NISSAN TAKING CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS - IT SEEMS THAT ISN'T THE CASE- ON JUNE 27 I GOT INTO A SMALL ACCIDENT AND IT ENDED UP COSTING GEICO $14,850.35 - WHEN THEY BROUGHT IT BACK THE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM HAD GOTTEN LOOSE SINCE IT'S LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE GAS TANK AND IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM WITH 370 Z'S AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR IT ALSO THE CAR IS RIDING A LOT LOWER TO THE GROUND THAN IT EVER WAS THE BLACK BUMPER GUARD AT THE VERY BOTTOM IS ALL SCRAPED UP AND THAT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE SO EITHER THE FRONT SHOCKS OR STRUTS ARE LOWER THAN BEFORE. I LOVE MY Z AND I'VE PUT OVER $40,000 INTO IT AND NOW I CAN'T GET PEOPLE TO DO WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO BECAUSE THEY 'DON'T WANT TO' THE PEOPLE WHO FIX YOUR CAR'S KNOW ABOUT ALL OF THESE CONSISTENT PROBLEMS & THEY SHOULD FIX THEM AND IT SEEMS LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX PROBLEMS THAT ARISE WITH THE SAME MODEL.I HAD TO HAVE MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER CALL JUST TO GET THE FUEL PUMP FIXED. NISSAN WANTED ME TO PAY FOR IT
SERVICE CAMPAIGN BULLETIN NO. NTB13-014 WAS ISSUED ON 3/7/2013. MY CAR EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE AND THE NISSAN DEALER REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE PART ON 12/2/2013 AT NO CHARGE. IN NOVEMBER, 2017, MY CAR EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS REPAIRED AT THE SAME NISSAN DEALER, PERFORMING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE EXACT SAME PART, ON 11/17/2017 AT A COST TO ME OF $1,153.40. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO COVER THE REPLACED (DEFECTIVE) PART STATING: 1) THEY COMPLIED WITH THE RECALL CAMPAIGN BY REPLACING THE INITIAL FAILED PART WITH A SECOND (DEFECTIVE) PART, AND 2) THE SECOND (DEFECTIVE) PART WAS BEYOND ITS 12 MONTH WARRANTY. IN BOTH CASES, THE DEFECTIVE PART DISABLED THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING, THUS CREATING THE NEED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. BECAUSE THE EXACT SAME PART FAILED THAT WAS SUBJECT TO THE SERVICE RECALL CAMPAIGN, CREATING THE NECESSITY FOR A SECOND REPLACEMENT, I BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN SUBJECT TO THE SERVICE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE REPLACED PART FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME INTERVAL AS THE FIRST FAILED PART, BOTH OF WHICH WAS WELL BEYOND A 12 MONTH IN-SERVICE PERIOD.
WHEN DRIVING THE SEATBELT AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING, WANT GO OFF, EVEN IF JUST SITTING STILL WITH THE CAR CRANK, THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING.
PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON AND SHOWS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING AS WELL WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. JUST STARTING THE CAR, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID AIR BAG OFF AND FLASHING LIGHT ON DASH. PASSENGER AIRBAG WON'T TURN BACK ON AND DOESN'T WORK PUTTING PASSENGERS IN GREAT DANGER.
CAR WOULDNT START HAD TO GET IT TOWED , KNOWN PROBLEM OF THE STEERING WHEEL MECHANISM LOCK HAS TO BE REPLACED . NISSAN IS PAYING FOR ALTIMAS AND MAXIMAS TO GET REPLACED BUT NOT 370Z THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. OVER $1200 TO REPAIR FOR A KNOWN DEFECT
MY PUSH BUTTON START DOES NOT START THE CAR. IT GOES TO AAC AND THE IGNITION BUT THE CAR JUST SITES THERE. IT WILL NOT TURN THE ENGINE. I WAS STRANDED ONE TIME AND HAD TO GET TOWED HOME.
I GOT INTO MY CAR IN THE GARAGE AND TRIED TO START IT BY FIRST PUSHING THE CLUTCH AND PRESSING THE START BUTTON. WHILE PUSHING THE CLUTCH DOWN, IT FELL TO THE FLOOR AND STAYED THERE AND NEVER CAME BACK UP. I HAVE TO LIFT IT WITH MY LEFT FOOT.
FUEL SENDING UNIT DOESNT WORK APPROPRIATELY. FULL TANK OF GAS AND IT SHOWS THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY GAS. THERE'S HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. IT'S A RISK SINCE A FALSE AMOUNT OF FUEL CAN LEAD TO THE VEHICLE STOPPING OUT OF NOWHERE ON A HIGHWAY/STREET WHICH CAN LEAD TO ACCIDENTS. ELECTRIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK WAS REPLACED IN A RECALL AT 25,824 MILES IN MAY 2013. CAR IN OCTOBER 2016 WITH 37746 NUKES HAD PROBLEMS STARTING, HAD TO PUSH, "START" BUTTON FROM TWO TO 12 TIMES TO GET VEHICLE TO START. FIRST DEALER REPLACED BATTERY, NEEDED TO BE DONE BUT PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY. DEALER FOUND THAT STEERING COLUMN ELECTRIC LOCK WAS INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,103.50. THIS IS THE SAME PART THAT WAS REPLACED AS PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL. IF STALLED IN TRAFFIC IT COULD TAKE UP O 5 MINUTES TO START VEHICLE.
THE ELECTRIC STEERING WHEEL LOCK MECHANISM HAS FAILED BAD. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE PART, BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED ON THIS ISSUE.
TRYING TO START MY 2009 370Z APPROX 35K MILES, I HAVE TO PUSH THE START BUTTON 2-7 TIMES TO GET THE CAR TO START. CHECKED CLUTCH SWITCH POSITION, IT IS OKAY. OCCASIONALLY IT WILL START ON THE FIRST TIME PUSHING THE START BUTTON. GET IN CAR, DEPRESS CLUTCH WHEN LIGHT COMES ON, PUSH START BUTTON, ON LIGHTS, NO START , PUSH AGAIN ACCESS LIGHT ON, NOTHING, AGAIN OFF LIGHT, PUSH AGAIN, AND SO ON UNTIL STARTS. DEALER HAD NO ANSWERS. REPLACED BATTERY IN BOTH KEYS, NO DIFFERENCE. HAS BEEN AN ISSUE A COUPLE TIMES AFTER STALLING IN TRAFFIC.
AT AROUND THE MD BORDER, WHEN DRIVING HOME TO NJ FROM TN, THE CLUTCH STUCK TO THE FLOOR. I COULDN'T CHANGE OUT OF 6TH GEAR, SO I HAD TO DRIVE FROM THAT POINT WITHOUT SLOWING ENOUGH TO HAVE TO CHANGE GEARS OR STOPPING. AFTER I GOT OFF AT MY EXIT AND HIT A STOP LIGHT, I FORCED IT OUT OF 6TH GEAR BEFORE IT STALLED, THEN PUMPED THE CLUTCH (PRESSING IT THEN LIFTING IT BACK UP WITH MY FOOT) UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO 1ST THEN 3RD GEAR AND I DROVE IT MOST OF THE WAY TO CHERRY HILL NISSAN IN 3RD GEAR. AT THE LIGHT NEXT TO THE DEALERSHIP, PUMPED THE CLUTCH UNTIL I GOT IT INTO FIRST GEAR AND COULD NOT CHANGE GEARS ANYMORE. I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR INTO A PARKING SPOT THEN STALL THE ENGINE BY HOLDING THE BRAKES. THE CLUTCH STICKING TO THE FLOOR HAS HAPPENED TO ME A FEW TIMES BEFORE, NORMALLY ON LONG DRIVES, BUT I WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO PUMP THE CLUTCH A FEW TIMES AND IT WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. BEING STUCK IN A GEAR IS PRETTY SCARY. THE CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER (CSC) FAILURE CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS EVEN HAPPENED ON THE 350Z AND THE GT-R. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. THE FIRST COMPLAINT ON NHTSA WAS FILED ON 09/18/2010, AND THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS SINCE THEN. SOMEONE, PLEASE CONDUCT A SAFETY INVESTIGATION.

AT THE LIGHT NEXT TO THE DEALERSHIP, PUMPED THE CLUTCH UNTIL I GOT IT INTO FIRST GEAR AND COULD NOT CHANGE GEARS ANYMORE. I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR INTO A PARKING SPOT THEN STALL THE ENGINE BY HOLDING THE BRAKES. THE CLUTCH STICKING TO THE FLOOR HAS HAPPENED TO ME A FEW TIMES BEFORE, NORMALLY ON LONG DRIVES, BUT I WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO PUMP THE CLUTCH A FEW TIMES AND IT WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENED AT 39574 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. BEING STUCK IN A GEAR IS PRETTY SCARY. THE CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER (CSC) FAILURE CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS EVEN HAPPENED ON THE 350Z AND THE GT-R. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. THE CSC (CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER) FAILED WHEN I WAS DRIVING LEAVING ME WITHOUT ANY POWER. I CANT DRIVE MY CAR ANYMORE AND I NEED TO GET THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED TO FIX IT.
WENT TO GO TO WORK THIS MORNING AND MY CLUTCH IS STUCK TO THE FLOOR...THOUGHT MAYBE IT NEEDED SOME GREASE OR SOMETHING SO I GAVE IT A FEW PUMPS BUT NOTHING. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE AT ALL!!! THIS IS DANGEROUS IF I WERE ACTUALLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THIS HAPPEN. SHAME ON YOU NISSAN FOR NOT DOING ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE FOR A $70 PART. PEOPLE PAYING OUT OF POCKET $1,200 TO FIX!!! MANY PEOPLE IN THE FORUMS HAVE ALSO HAD THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE ATTEND TO THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!! WHILE PULLING OUT OR AT STOP RED LIGHT THE CLUTCH PEDAL SUNK TO THE FLOOR , SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON THE FLOOR, THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER CSC FAILURE IS A HAZARD .. I HAVE HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED BUT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE SEAT CUSHION HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS THE AIR BAG SENSOR THAT WAS FAULTY. IT COST ME OVER $2100 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET. THAT WAS AFTER NISSAN CORP. AGREED TO PAY $500 TOWARDS THE COST. I MIGHT ADD THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS STILL IN LIKE NEW CONDITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN 370Z. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLUTCH FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SLAVE CYLINDER SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,620.
THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR INCIDENT I'VE HAD WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR. THE FIRST ONE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. JUST YESTERDAY AND TODAY, IT FEELS LIKE THE CLUTCH IS FAILING ONCE AGAIN. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN TO NISSAN YET, BUT THE ISSUES SOUND A LOT LIKE THE DREADED CSC (CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER) FAILURE THE NISSAN REFUSES TO RECALL. IT'S A TRULY PROBLEMATIC, EXPENSIVE AND LIFE THREATENING ISSUE. AT BEST, THE CLUTCH STICKS TO THE FLOOR AND YOU CAN'T SHIFT IT INTO 1ST GEAR. AT WORST, IT HAPPENS WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALSO, BEFORE IT FAILS COMPLETELY, THE ENGAGEMENT POINT OF THE CLUTCH CHANGES DRASTICALLY. THE CAR HAS LUNGED FORWARD BECAUSE IT JUST SUDDENLY DECIDES TO ENGAGE THE CLUTCH. THIS IS DANGEROUS NISSAN AND ABSOLUTELY ABHORRENT THAT IT HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED, FAILURE AFTER FAILURE AFTER FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIPS KNOWINGLY KEEP A FEW OF THIS PART IN STOCK, KNOWING IT'S COMMON. 370Z OWNERS HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING WHEN MY CLUTCH PEDAL BECAME LIMP. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY GETTING READY TO SHIFT INTO 6TH GEAR WHEN I HAD NO CLUTCH RESISTANCE! I NEARLY CRASHED DUE TO THE LACK OF ENGAGEMENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS VERY SAME ISSUE WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AT 30,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP EITHER NEVER REPLACED THE PARTS THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE REPLACED AT 30K MILES OR THEY HAVE FAILED AGAIN, JUST 35K MILES LATER. THESE PARTS ARE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND SLAVE CYLINDER IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH 2009-2015 MODELS. ACTUALLY, IT HAS BEEN GOING ON AS FAR BACK AS 2003 WITH THE 350Z, WHICH WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. I'M SELLING THE CAR AND HOPEFULLY THE BUYER DOESN'T CRASH AND DIE FROM IT. LOSS OF CLUTCH PEDAL (CSC) CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER AND (CMC) CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER
CAME TO A STOP AT A BUSY INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEGAL RIGHT TURN ON RED WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL REFUSED TO COME UP MORE THAN IN INCH, CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL THE IN MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION REPEATEDLY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO STICK IT IN TO A GEAR AND GET IT TO A PARKING LOT OF A NEARBY HOTEL WHERE THE CLUTCH PEDAL REMAINED LIMP ON THE FLOOR. MECHANIC CONFIRMED EARLIER THIS WEEK THAT THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER HAD GIVEN OUT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR INCIDENCES IN THE SAME KIND OF CAR AND ALSO AFFECTING 6 SPEED MANUAL G37'S AND LATER 350Z'S. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT DISPLAY A FULL TANK OF GAS AFTER A FILL UP. THIS RESULTS IN A VERY INACCURATE DEPICTION OF FUEL LEVELS. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE BUT NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ON THE 370Z. THE PROBLEM IT INTERMITTENT, BUT IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORST. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP A WHILE AGO AND THEY REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, BELIEVING IT TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE DISPLAY. THE ISSUE IS STILL THERE AFTER THEY INSTALLED A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, BUT NOW I'M PAST MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE REAL CAUSE OF THIS IS WITHIN THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THE WAY IT MEASURES THE FUEL LEVEL. THIS RENDERS THE FUEL GAUGE, DISTANCE TO EMPTY AND AVERAGE MPG READING INACCURATE AND USELESS. THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND I WOULD LIKE FOR NISSAN TO ADDRESS IT AS A RECALL.
I WAS WAITING IN NEUTRAL AT A RED LIGHT WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE CLUTCH PEDAL HAD SUNK ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT RETURN TO THE ENGAGED POSITION. BECAUSE OF THIS, I COULDN'T GET THE CAR INTO GEAR AND ENDED UP HAVING TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION ONTO THE SIDEWALK WHERE I THEN RECEIVED A TICKET FOR ILLEGALLY PARKING EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY UNDRIVEABLE. LATER THAT WEEK, I REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION TO DISCOVER THAT THE CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER (CSC) HAD DISINTEGRATED AND ALL THAT WAS LEFT WAS A FEW BITS OF RUBBER AND PLASTIC COVERED IN CLUTCH FLUID. I'VE SINCE REPLACED THE PART WITH A METAL REPLACEMENT THAT HAS PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY SINCE. INCIDENCES OF CSC FAILURE ARE NOTED EXTENSIVELY ON ENTHUSIAST FORUMS, AND NISSAN HAS IN MOST CASES REFUSED TO REPAIR THE DEFECT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN IF THIS FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. AS I WAS MERGING ONTO 101 FROM 880 IN SAN JOSE, THE CAR LOST ALL DRIVE AT THE EXIT OF THE MERGE AS THE CAR EXPERIENCED FUEL STARVATION WHEN THE FUEL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GAS TANK SLOSH OVER TO THE LEFT SIDE DURING THE TIGHT TURN FROM 101 AND 880. MY SPEED WAS LESS THAN 30MPH AT THE TURN AND THE STARVATION HAPPENED AS I EXITED THE CLOVER LEAF. THE EXPERIENCE WAS SCARY AS I LOST ALL DRIVE WHILE CARS WERE COMING UP BEHIND ME AT 65MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 370. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK NHTSA TO STEP IN AND ASK NISSAN FOR A PERMANENT FIX. THIS HAPPENED WITH MORE THAN HALF A TANK OF GAS ON BOARD. *TR
ON MONDAY 9/15/14 I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR LIKE I HAD DONE EARLIER IN THE DAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. WHEN I WENT TO PUSH MY START BUTTON, I NOTICED THAT NOTHING HAD HAPPENED AT ALL EXCEPT THE ILLUMINATION OF A KEY LOCK LIGHT. AFTER CHECKING THE GAS, BATTERY, AND FUSES, I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. TODAY IS 9/17/14 AND WHEN I ATTEMPT TO START MY CAR I HAVE TO DEPRESS THE START BUTTON 7-10 TIMES BEFORE IT ACTUALLY STARTS THE CAR. SAME PROBLEM AS EVERYONE ELSE IS REPORTING ABOUT VEHICLE NOT STARTING BECAUSE THE SMART KEY PUSH BUTTON IGNITION IS STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION. I THINK THEY CALL IT STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM FAIL. APPARENTLY NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR A LONG TIME, HAS RECALLED NEWER MODELS BUT IS NOT WILLING TO RECALL THE 2009S. SO THE QUESTION IS, HOW MANY PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE A MANDATORY RECALL IS IMPOSED? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THIS IS TO RECTIFY THE COMPLAINT I SUBMITTED YESTERDAY RELATED TO THE STEERING LOCK UNIT FAILING. I DID HAVE THE PROBLEM (NO CHANGE THERE) AND FILED COMPLAINT #10614959 AFTER DOING THE INITIAL RESEARCH AND READING EVERYWHERE (INCLUDING HERE) THAT NISSAN'S RECALL DID NOT COVER MY MODEL YEAR (2009), BEING THAT MINE IS NOT A GTR. AFTER I HAD COME TO TERMS WITH HAVING TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET, I CALLED THE DEALER IN FORT LAUDERDALE, AND HE (VOLUNTARILY) SAID THAT RECALLS ARE VIN SPECIFIC AND THAT MINE WAS COVERED (WHAT A RELIEF). I ALSO TALKED WITH NISSAN USA LATER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT A RECALL BUT THAT THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THAT PARTICULAR PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. I AM NOT SURE, BUT I THINK THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT IF THE PROGRAM IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE THE ISSUE WHEREAS A RECALL YOU CAN TAKE IT IN BEFORE (OR AFTER). WHICHEVER IT IS, THOSE WHO HAD THIS PROBLEM EARLY ON AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET MAY WANT TO RE-CHECK WITH NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY CAN GET REIMBURSED. CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH, CAR RECORDS SHOWS CLUTCH AND CSC HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT IS HAVING PROBLEMS YET AGAIN. ALWAYS FEEL TICKING IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL WHEN DISENGAGED, AND CLUTCH STICKS WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOP (NOT TALKING ABOUT LAUNCHES OR DROPPING GEARS). ALSO A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRICAL, LIKE FUEL GAUGE. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, LOTS OF WIND NOISE WHEN ON THE FREEWAY, AND WINDOW GETS STUCK WHEN CLOSED ON FREEWAY. HAVE GONE TO DEALERSHIP AND OF COURSE THEY SAY THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO EVEN THOUGH FORUMS SHOW THERES RECALLS.
MY 370Z WILL START UP FINE SOMETIMES BUT MOST TIMES I HAVE TO IT THE START BUTTON 7-10 TIMES BEFORE IT CRANKS. WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON ALL LIGHTS ON DASH COME AND IT MAKES CLICKING SOUNDS BUT JUST WON'T START THE VEHICLE. I HAD MY STEERING LOCK MECHANISM REPLACED 6 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT NO ONE CAN GIVE ME A SOLID ANSWER.
CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION LEAKS AND FAILS RESULTING IN THE CLUTCH PETAL TO FALL TO THE FLOOR PREVENTING THE DRIVER FROM RELEASING THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE. THIS PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM BEING ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS AND COMPLETELY IMMOBILIZES THE VEHICLE. THE DEFECTIVE PART IS LOCATED INSIDE THE BELL HOUSING REQUIRING THE EXHAUST AND TRANSMISSION TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE IT. *TR
INFAMOUS STEERING LOCK PROBLEM. WENT TO START CAR AND GOT THE YELLOW KEY SYMBOL AND PUSH START BUTTON LIGHT SHOWED LOCK. HAD TO PAY $170 TO HAVE IT TOWED TO NISSAN. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO START MY 370Z THIS MORNING, KEY LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AND THE LOCK LIGHT CAME ON THE PUSH BUTTON START. BUT NO RESPONSE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK MECHANISM IS STUCK HALFWAY SO THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS BUT NOTHING IS INDICATING TO THE ECU THAT IT IS UNLOCKED. NISSAN HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE SAME PART ON 2009 GT-R'S (NTB10-025 P0309) BUT NOT ON 370Z'S. IT BECAME SUCH AN ISSUE THAT IN 2011/2012 NISSAN STOPPED INSTALLING THE DEVICE ON THE 370Z MODEL. MORE AND MORE 370Z OWNERS ARE BECOMING STRANDED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. *TR
I HAVE TWO ISSUES, FIRST MY PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS OCCASSIONALLY TURNED OFF EVEN THOUGH THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED. I AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PASSENGER MOVE AROUND TO HAVE THE SEAT BELT APPROPRIATELY SET. I AM UNSURE IF THIS WILL TRUELY RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ON JANUARY 13, 2016, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TIGHT, SEIZED, AND WAS UNABLE TO BE TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
THIS PROBLEM OF THE CLUTCH STICKING HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I LOVE THIS CAR SO MUCH I BOUGHT A CAR LIFT TO REPLACE THIS PART MYSELF. DEALER CHARGES OVER $1100 TO REPLACE A 75 DOLLAR PART. BUT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS PART FAIL. I HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY THAT NO PERSON WAS WALKING BY THE FRONT/REAR OF MY CAR WHILE I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL OR HAD IT FAILED WHILE TRYING TO PARK. THIS LAST TIME I NOTICED A SHUDDER FROM THE CLUTCH PEDAL PRIOR TO PART FAILURE.
ENGINE POWER CUTS OUT RANDOMLY. ERROR CODE P0011 GIVEN. ALL MECHANICAL COMPONENTS ASSOCIATED WITH CODE P0011 PER NISSAN HAVE BEEN REPLACED. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. APPARENTLY, THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH THE EARLY 2009 370Z. TO DATE, NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM.
I DROVE MY 2009 NISSAN 370Z TO WORK IN THE MORNING AND WHEN I WENT TO START MY CAR AT LUNCH... NOTHING. IT WAS JUST DEAD. ALL OF THE LIGHTS WORKED, ALARM, POWER SEATS, NAME IT. BUT WHEN YOU WENT TO START, NOTHING. TURNS OUT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK BROKE. THE FACT THAT THIS IS SUCH A COMMON OCCURRENCE, A SIMPLE 30 SECOND INTERNET SEARCH CAN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, FRUSTRATES ME. HOW COME IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF IN THE MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS (THE GTR'S), BUT IT WASN'T RECALLED FOR THE 2009/10 370Z'S? THEY'VE REPLACED THE PROBLEM PART IN THE 2012'S, BUT THAT DOESN'T EXCUSE THE FACT THAT THEY'VE LEFT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE STRANDED AND HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. I LUCKED OUT BECAUSE I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET? THE COST FOR THE REPAIRS IS OVER A $1000, WITH THE PART ITSELF IN THE HUNDREDS.
