WHILE TRAVELING AT 55-60 MPH ON A DECLINING ROAD VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN FOR NO KNOWN REASON, CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL FUNCTIONS WHILE STILL COACHING DOWN THE ROAD. HAD TO USE EMERGENY BRAKES TO STOP VEHICLE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO HOUSE THAT FIRDAY, AND VEHICLE STARTED UP ON MONDAY. TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSEPECTION. PLEASE FILL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
ALL WINDOWS HAD A FILM ON THEM THAT MADE VISION VERY POOR AT NIGHT AND ALSO WHEN RAINING. VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE. DEALER REPLACED WINDSHIELD AND AND STATED '' OTHER WINDOWS AREN'T USED THAT MUCH''. DEALER ALSO STATED" MANUFACTURER MUST TAKE CARE OF REST OF WINDOWS". MAUFACTURER REFUSES TO DO SO AND DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS. NISSAN ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION STATED THAT NISSAN TOLD THEM THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR AND THE WINDOWS ARE JUST FINE. DOES ANYBODY CARE.*AK
CONSUMER HAD TO USE A LOT OF FORCE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. ENGINE REVVED UP TO 2500 RPMS,NOT STOPPING AT ANY OCCASION. DEALER JUST FIXED IT & TWICE IT HAS DONE THE SAME. *AK THERE WAS SURGE IN ENGINE WHILE STOPED AT LIGHT, AND THE RPM WENT FROM 750-2500. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS SEVICED, THE PROBLEM REOCCURED. THE DEALER FOUND OUT THAT THE CAUSE WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AFTER THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED. *YH
RECEIVED BURNS WHEN DASHBOARD BURST IN TO FLAMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE.*AK
I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE IDLE BECOMES ERRATIC AT TIMES, SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START IT THE IDLE WILL GO UP AND DOWN FROM 1000 TO 2100 CONTINUOUSLY. MOST OF THE TIME THE IDLE REMAINS HIGH WHEN YOU PUSH IN THE CLUTCH AROUND 1600RPM UNTIL YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. OTHER TIME THE IDLE GOES VERY LOW NEAR 400 RPM ALMOST TO A STALL CONDITION. NISSAN SAYS ITS NORMAL. I HAVE SEEN THIS SAME COMPLAINT NOT ONLY WITH THE ALTIMA BUT WITH THE NISSAN FRONTIER 2.4L WITH MANUAL AS WELL (SAME ENGINE AS THE ALTIMA).*AK
WHILE TRAVELING 15-20 MPH VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP TO 50 MPH, EVEN AFTER SHIFTING INTO REVERSE, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UP TO 50 MPH UNTIL VEHICLE STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE,AND WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-85 CROSSING THE NC LINE INTO VIR. THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE PEELED COMPLETELY OFF LEAVING ONLY 1OR 2 INCHES LEFT ON THE RIM. CAR HUMPS WHILE DRIVING UNDER 40 MPH, ALSO WHEN DRIVING 60 MPH AND BRAKING SUDDENLY THE BRAKES MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND YOU HAVE TO PRESS ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE BRAKE. *AK

I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT TIRES AFTER ONLY OWN THE CAR ABOUT 8 MONTHS. BEFORE I BOUGHT THE TIRES I CALL THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE TIRES AND THEY SAID IT WASNT ANYTHING THEY COULD DO SO I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE TIRES. *AK (TIRESIZE: P20555R16T)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P20555R16T )
THE FAILURE HAPPENED TWICE TODAY. I DROVE MY NISSAN ALTIMA GXE IN NEW YORK, NY ON AUG. 19, 2000 AT ABOUT 6:30PM. WHEN I WAS APPROACHING TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT SPEED ABOUT 15-20 MPH THE ENGINE DIED AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS WENT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO STOP AND RESTART MY CAR. 10-15 MINUTES LATER, WHILE MOVING IN SLOW TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 15 MPH THE ENGINE DIED AGAIN AND AT THIS TIME BOTH EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND SOUND ALARM WENT OFF. I WAS LUCKY ONCE MORE TO STOP SAFELY. I TURNED OFF THE ALARM USING ALARM KEY ON THE IGNITION KEY-CHAIN AND RESTARTED CAR AGAIN. I USED ORIGINAL NISSAN IGNITION KEY WITH "SMART CHIP". GAS TANK WAS 1/4 FULL. ON JULY 22, 2000 MY CAR HAD RECOMENDED BY NISSAN 7500 MILE INTERVAL SERVICE.
THE THROTTLE/ACCELERATOR STUCK, 3 TIMES, THE RPM'S OR THE CAR ROARED, I WAS IN THE GARAGE ONCE, AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY THE SECOND TIME MOVING FORWARD, AND THE 3 RD TIME IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE WAS SPUN AROUND 360 DEGREES, I HIT A STATIONERY VEHICLE GOING ABOUT 40-50 MPH. WITHIN 15-20 FEET.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 30MPH SIDEWALL STARTED TO CRACK, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE STEERING CONTROL. FIREHAWK, DOTW2T2VF3319, SIZE UNKNOWN.*AK CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE HOWEVER EACH ATTEMPT TO HAVE RECALL PERFORMED FAILED, STATING THAT TIRES WERE NOT IN STOCK. FINALLY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. *TT *YH
CONSUMER WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT APPLIED BRAKES, AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHILE FOOT WAS ON BRAKES, CAUSING VEHICLE TO HIT TREE/ ROCKS, AND RAN INTO A CANAL. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, AND CONSUMER UNBUCKLED SEATBELT. ALSO, JUMPED INTO CANAL FROM PASSENGER'S SIDE BECAUSE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS STUCK. *AK
2000 NISSAN ALTIMA GASKET MANIFOLD INTAKE*CW THE CONSUMER STATED HE FIRST DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WHEN HE TOOK OFF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND CHECKED THE CONDITION OF THE GASKET. THE SIDE WITH THE LEAK WAS AT CYLINDER 4. IT WAS HARD AND BRITTLE AND COULD CRACK AND SNAP VERY EASILY. THE CLOSER THE GASKET WAS TO THE NUMBER 1 CYLINDER IT REMAINED MORE PLIABLE AND WOULD HAVE MORE FLEX INSTEAD OF JUST CRACKING LIKE HARD PLASTIC. OBVIOUSLY, THE GASKET SEEMED TO HOLD UP BETTER WHEN IT WAS CLOSER TO THE CYLINDER 1 BECAUSE IT WAS COOLER THERE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE GASKET WAS BEING EXPOSED TO MORE HEAT THAN IT WAS DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND. *JB
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED EXHAUST SYSTEM FAILURE WHICH RESULTED IN EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND RESULTING IN THE DRIVER FEELING ILL (HEADACHE, ASTHMA ATTACKS). NLM
WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED THREE TIMES. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. *AK
THERE IS A LOUD NOISE/RATTLE IN THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WHEN YOU HIT BUMP. NOT MAJOR POTHOLE, JUST BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I HAVE EXPRESSED THIS CONCERN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY IT IS THE WHEEL COVERS. THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG.*AK
THE LINNING AROUND THE SUN ROOF IS HANGING BY GRAVITY AND THE CLOCK WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. *CJ.
WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKES VEHICLE BUCKS. CONSUMER COULD NOT CONTROL VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WOULD RUN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
I HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES BECAUSE THE BRAKES SQUEAK AND FEEL SOFT. EACH TIME THEY SAY IT IS DUST ON THE BRAKES AND CLEAN THEM. WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS THE PROBLEM IS BACK
CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FIRESTONE IN REFERENCE TO A POSSIBLE DEFECT WITH HIS TIRES, CONSUMER REPLACED TIRES PER THE LETTER THAT WAS RECEIVED, HOWEVER CONSUMER WAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT FROM FIRESTONE STATING THAT THE TIRE SIZE WHICH CONSUMER OWNED WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL, CONSUMER STATES THE SIZE IS LISTED AS APART OF THE RECALL, AND IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT (FIRESTONE TIRES/W2 T2 VF3 130)*JB
TRANSMISSION JUMPS IN AND OUT OF GEARS WHILE DRIVING. DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
CAR ENGINE BLEW UP CAUSING FIRE AND OTHER DAMAGE TO CARS WAS IN NEUTRAL AND BEING FLAT TOWED BEHIND A MOTORHOME PER SPECS GIVEN BY MANUFACTURE NO DAMAGE TO TIRES THOUGH TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSEDLY BAD CAN YOU GIVE ADVICE CONCERNING CAUSE AND OR PREVENTION OF FUTURE PROBLEMS. DT
