TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORBOARD WOULD BECOME WET WHENEVER IT WOULD RAIN. THE CONTACT RAN WATER DOWN THE WINDSHIELD AND OPENED THE HOOD TO SEE IF WATER WAS ENTERING THROUGH THE DASHBOARD AREA, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 134,000. *TR
WHEN I WEN'T TO TRADE MY CAR FOR A NEW ONE I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THEY WERN'T INTERESTED IN MY CAR BECAUSE OF RUSTED FLOOR BOARDS.THEY SAID THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH NISAN ALTIMAS AND THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL.WHY WASN'T NISAN REQUIRED TO HAVE A RECALL SINCE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFTY PROBLEM WITH ALTIMAS?OTHER NISAN CARS DON'T SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM.NOW I FEAR FOR MY FAMILIES SAFTY WHEN I DRIVE THIS CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ON OCTOBER 6, 2012 WITH THE ASSURANCE FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOOD AND STRONG. MY WIFE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND UPON ARRIVING HOME SHE SAID THAT IT WAS DRIVING ROUGH. NOT KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT VEHICLES, SHE STATED THAT IT DROVE LIKE SOMEONE LEARNING TO DRIVE A MANUAL CAR. SHE SAID THAT IT WAS JERKING AND SHIFTING HARD LIKE IT WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR(ESPECIALLY UPON ACCELERATING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP, DOWNSHIFT IS REALLY HARD. ALSO COMING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, IT WOULD IDLE AS IF IN NEUTRAL WHEN PRESSING THE GAS THEN SUDDENLY JUMP VERY HARD INTO ACTUAL DRIVE). SHE BECAME TO FRIGHTENED TO DRIVE THE CAR. IN MEANWHILE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER(NOT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM) TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND IT WAS SAID THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP OUT IN GWINNETT, GEORGIA WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND HAVE THEM CHECK IT. I TOOK IT NOT KNOWING IF IT WOULD EVEN MAKE IT. THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND INDEED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT RESUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR FIXING MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT "AS IS". AS I READ THE CMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AND ABOUT A PENDING CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSION DESIGN IN THE 2005-2006 ALTIMAS AND OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES, IT IS APPARENT TO ME, THAT THEY NEED TO DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT AND GETS KILLED. NISSAN KNOWS THIS TRANSMISSION IS POORLY DESIGNED AND HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT TAKE PEOPLES MONEY IN REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION A $3,000-$4,000 COST. USUALLY AT THE CUSTOMERS EXPENSE BECAUSE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. ONE MORE THING, THERE IS NO WARNING THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR, NO SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT -NOTHING. HELP!! *TR
MY FLOOR OF MY CAR HAS RUSTED OUT. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO NISSAN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE FLOORBOARD HAS RUSTED SO BAD IT IS NOT SAFE TO PUT ANYONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS CAR IS WELL CARED FOR, GARAGED NIGHTLY, WASHED WEEKLY AND ALL MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS KEPT. IT HAS ONE DRIVER OVER AGE 60 SO IT IS NOT USED FOR SPEED OR DERBY DRIVING. I DID NOT BUILD THIS CAR AND AS I AM NOT AN AUTO SERVICE PERSON WOULD HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT MY UNDERCARRIAGE AND FLOORBOARDS WERE RUSTED TO THE POINT OF BEING A SAFETY HAZARD. THEY HAVE PLACED MY CAR ON THE BLOCKS AND LIFTED EVERY TIME YET NEVER TOLD ME THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THIS IS NEGLIGENCE OF THE HIGHEST FORM AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY SO THEY REMAINED SILENT ABOUT A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. AS A LAYPERSON I HAVE BEEN FRAUD AND MY SAFETY JEOPARDIZED FOR THE SAKE OF SAVING A FEW DOLLARS. I WILL NOW TAKE THIS PROBLEM PUBLIC TO ANY AND EVERYONE WHO WILL LISTEN. I ASK AND ENCOURAGE THE NHTSA TO HEAR THE COMPLAINTS OF CONSUMERS AND REQUIRE NISSAN MAKE THIS RIGHT. OBVIOUSLY THESE FLOORBOARDS WERE NOT TREATED FOR RUST PROTECTION. FLOOR BOARDS ON BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEVERELY CORRODED; AFFECTED AREA ~8X12 INCHES. BOARDS AND SHEET METAL RUSTED THROUGH COMPLETELY ON BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE, FORMING ~2X2 INCH HOLES. *TR
FULLY RUSTED DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR BOARDS. CAN SEE INTERIOR RUG UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN FROM 2002 AND 2005 RELATED TO CARS IN SALT STATES. HAVE SEEN MANY COMMENTS THAT DEFECTIVE STEEL WAS USED. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF OUR CAR IS COMPROMISED. DEALER WANTS $1200 TO CUT OUT ROTTED FLOOR BOARDS AND WELD IN NEW FLOOR PANELS. HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE AND OPENED CASE. REGIONAL MANAGER CALLED AND REFUSES TO OFFER ANY COVERAGE FOR THIS ISSUE. ALSO, NISSAN AS A CORPORATION HAS DECIDED THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE TO OWNERS WITH THIS WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE FLOOR UNDER BODY BELOW PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEAT HAS RUSTED AND ABOUT TO GET A HOLE. I CALLED NISSAN SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAY ITS NOT IN WARRANTY. BUT ITS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE MODEL IS JUST 7 YEARS OLD WITH 89000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY STEERING GOT VERY HARD TO STEER TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
AFTER 20 MIN OR SO OF IDLING IN TRAFFIC, THEN A 10 MINUTE FREEWAY DRIVE AT LEGAL SPEEDS I WAS APPROACHING THE OFF RAMP AND THE CLUTCH WENT TO THE FLOOR, NO HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT INCIDENT AND PULL OVER. AFTER 10 MIN OF TALKING TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR A TOW, I NOTICED PARTIAL PRESSURE RESTORED AND DROVE SLOWLY HOME. NOW, WITH RESEARCH, I HAVE SEEN THIS IS EXTREMELY COMMON AND DANGEROUS. TOO MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED ONLINE AND WITH NISSAN, YET THERE IS NO RESOLUTION AND WHAT'S WORSE, NO SPECIFIC ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. I HOPE NHTSA DOESN'T WAIT FOR A SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO OCCUR BEFORE THIS IS LOOKED INTO, A GOOGLE SEARCH OF ALTIMA CLUTCH RECALL BRINGS UP OVER A DOZEN FORUMS WITH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
FLOOR BOARD ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT HAS RUSTED OUT. CAR IS ALWAYS WASHED, AND THIS IS THE ONLY SIGNS OF ABNORMAL RUST ON THE CAR. *TR
RATTLING NOISE IN ENGINE, UNUSUAL ENGINE VIBRATION AND MUFFLER SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS THIS SCREW IS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE AND COULD CAUSE $7500 DOLLARS OF DAMAGE. IF THIS SCREW WAS TO COME LOOSE IT COULD RUIN ENGINE COMPRESSOR, DESTROY THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, O2 SENSOR AND POWER VALVE PLATES. I SEARCH TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND IT SEEM TO BE OR TALK OF IT. CALL DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF A RECALL WAS ISSUED. SOME WEBSITE SUGGEST THERE WAS ONE, WHAT HAS HAPPEN TO QUALITY PRODUCTS. IF THERE WAS ONE THEY ARE NOT UPHOLDING IT. RECALL SHOULD NEVER EXPIRE, FOR PUBLIC SAFETY. *TR..UPDATED 10/24/12 *BF THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO RETRACT HER COMPLAINT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THAT MY FLOOR BOARDS UNDER MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEATS WERE RUSTED OUT AND FORMING HOLES INTO THE CABIN OF MY CAR. HE WAS ABLE TO POKE ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND PUSH UP MY CARPET ON MY DRIVER SIDE FLOOR. I WAS ISSUED A FACTORY RECALL AROUND 2008 FROM NISSAN ABOUT LIVING IN A ROAD SALTED STATE (NJ) AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL IN NOV 2009. IT SEEMS THEY DID NOT REPLACE ALL THE AFFECTED AREAS. I CONTACTED NISSAN TODAY VIA THEIR 1-800 # AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO LONGER A WARRANTY OR RECALL OUT FOR MY VEHICLE CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I DRIVE THE NISSAN AS MY MAIN TRANSPORTATION FOR MY CHILDREN AND I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS ISSUE OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. IT IS UNSAFE AND UNEXPECTED FROM A 7 YEAR OLD CAR PURCHASE BRAND NEW. *TR
WE HAVE BEEN GOING AROUND AND AROUND WITH NISSAN ABOUT A FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR. (FAULTY) THE ONLY REPAIR THAT CAN BE MADE IS AN ENTIRE NEW SEAT BOTTOM TO THE TUNE OF $2,200.00. NOW I'M OK WITHOUT THE AIR BAG NOT WORKING AT THAT LOCATION, BUT THE INDICATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP IS WHEN THERE IS A FAULT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN NOT JUST THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT. THIS TO ME IS A COMPLETE DESIGN FLAW THAT NOW JEOPARDIZES THE ENTIRE CAR SAFETY SYSTEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANG COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SUDDENLY RESTARTED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE. WHILE MY CAR WAS ON THE LIFT WE NOTICED A HUGE RUST SPOT UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE. THEY WERE ABLE TO EASILY PUT A SCREWDRIVER INSIDE THE HOLE AND IT LIFTED MY CARPET. AND WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT ONE MONTH EARLIER MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP PUTTING ON NEW TIERODS AND BUSHINGS, AND THERE WAS NO RUST AT ALL. SO IN ONE MONTH THE UNDERCOATING WAS GONE AND A HUGE RUST HOLE APPEARED. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY WARRANTY WAS OVER AND IT WOULD BE ABOUT $900 TO FIX. THIS IS CRAZY. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND IT ONLY HAS 62,000 ON IT. NISSAN NEEDS TO MAKE THIS A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS HAPPENING TO ALOT OF THE ALTIMAS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. AND IF THIS IS NOT RESOLVED I WILL NO LONGER BE BUYING FROM NISSAN. *TR

I NOTICED A LOOSE PIECE OF HANGING METAL FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND QUICKLY FOUND THAT APPROXIMATELY AN 8" X 20" FLOORBOARD SECTION BEHIND THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND CRUMBLED TO THE GROUND UPON TOUCHING IT. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE IS 135,000 MILES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IT IS EXPECTED THIS WOULD BE AN ISSUE 40 YEARS AGO, BUT NOT WITH TODAY'S CARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT HER PANTS HAD BECOME WET. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE SHE NOTICED THAT THERE WERE HOLES IN THE FRAME UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE CORROSION WAS SO SEVERE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THE CORROSION FAILURE WAS TO BE EXPECTED BECAUSE SHE RESIDED IN THE NEW ENGLAND AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
I WAS CHANGING THE OIL ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA AND REALIZED THE FLOORBOARDS ARE NEARLY COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. I LIFTED THE CARPET INSIDE THE CABIN AND REALIZED IT IS RUSTED THROUGH. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGES. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE FLOORBOARDS THEY STATED NISSAN ALTIMA 2005 HAD A 5 YEAR CORROSIVE WARRANTY FOR THE UNDERBODY AND IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THIS REPAIR. I AM CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THIS MODEL. THE RUSTED FLOORBOARDS ARE NEAR THE FRONT DRIVER SEATS. I AM ALSO CONCERNED BECAUSE OF WATER OR MOLD NEAR THE FRONT FLOOR VENTS COULD ENTER THE CABIN THROUGH THE RUSTED FLOORBOARDS. THE FORT WAYNE NISSAN STATED THEY DID NOT NOTICE THIS RUST DURING MY OIL CHANGES. I BEGAN CHANGING MY OIL WHEN THE CAR WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THE RUSTY FLOORBOARDS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN ALL 2002-2005 NISSAN ALTIMA PROBLEMS. I WOULD LIKE NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA TO ADDRESS AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHEN HAVING MY OIL CHANGED THE GARAGE NOTED EXTREME ROOT ON THE FRONT DRIVERS AND PASSENGER FLOOR BOARDS. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD SEE THE INTERIOR CARPETING THAT WOULD ALLOW EXHAUST FUMES TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FLOORBOARDS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. SHE WAS REFERRED TO A DEALER AND INFORMED OF THE RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). A FEW WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. I HAD DISCOVERED THE FLOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY ALTIMA RUSTING THROUGH FROM THE INSIDE. WHEN ORIGINALLY PURCHASED NEW THE AUTO WAS DISCOVER TO HAVE A WATER LEAK SOAKING THE CARPETING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. NISSAN (DEALER) HAD INDICATED THAT THEY FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK BUT EVIDENTLY HAD NOT WITH THE FLOOR RUSTING THROUGH FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS STATED. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. I CURRENTLY HAD AN OIL CHANGE AT A LOCAL GARAGE AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTED WITH HOLES STARTING TO FORM. MY CAR ONLY HAS 85,000 MILES AND IS KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND WASHED OFTEN. THIS IS THE ONLY SPOT ON MY CAR THAT I HAVE ANY RUST. I CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ALTIMAS. I HAD JUST HAD A STICKER PUT ON BY NISSAN AND ALSO A 72 POINT INSPECTION AND WAS NEVER INFORMED BY THEM THAT THERE WAS HOLES UNDERNEATH MY CAR! NISSAN SAID THEY WOULD GO HALF ON THE COST OF REPAIRING BOTH FRONT FLOORBOARDS WHICH WOULD COST ME $400.00 WHICH I DO NOT HAVE. MY MAIN CONCERN FOR THIS ISSUE IS COME WINTER TIME, I WILL HAVE HOLES THROUGH MY FLOORBOARDS AND WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN MY CAR, I AM EXTREMELY CONSERNED ABOUT HAVING TOXIC FUMES ENTER INTO MY CAR WHICH COULD LEAD TO PASSING OUT OR THE FACT THAT MY FOOT COULD GO RIGHT THROUGH THE FLOOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WITH POTENTIAL FOR INJURY FROM STEPPING THROUGH AND POSSIBLE DEATH FROM EXHAUST FUMES CAUSING UNCONSCIOUSNESS WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,821 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,300.
TODAY WHILE PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY GIRLFRIENDS 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA I NOTICED A LARGE HOLE IN THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. THERE IS A LARGE RUSTED OUT HOLE, ONLY ON ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE THAT GOES COMPLETELY THROUGH TO THE INSIDE. IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE CAR THERE IS NO RUST AT ALL. THIS CAR IS WASHED REGULARLY, AND HAS NO RUST ON THE PAINTWORK ANYWHERE. UPON LOOKING IT UP ON THE INTERNET THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE, AND NISSAN IS TRYING TO COVER IT UP AND NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF PARTS THAT ARE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. MY VEHICLE IS A LOW MILEAGE GARAGED 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WHICH IS IN PERFECT CONDITION EXCEPT THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS ARE ROTTED OUT SO THAT YOU CAN STEP THROUGH. VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGED AND METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED WITH FRESH WATER CLEANING OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE WHEN WASHED AND ESPECIALLY IN THE SPRING. I HAD MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA AT MY LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE SOME RATTLING UNDERNEATH MY CAR LOOKED AT. THERE WAS A LOOSE HEAT SHIELD THAT THE MECHANIC FIXED AND HE ALSO NOTIFIED ME THAT THERE WERE LARGE AREAS OF RUST ALONG BOTH FLOORBOARDS. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND WASHED IN THE WINTER. THE LAST TIME THE CAR WAS AT THERE MECHANIC, THERE WAS NO RUST EVIDENT. UNFORTUNATELY MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I WOULD LIKE NISSAN TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR

I BOUGHT A CAR, SOLD "AS IS", BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP ADVERTISED THE CAR SAYING "EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD IS IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION." THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME BUYING A CAR AND THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT. THE CAR IS MISSING 2 LUG NUTS ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, AND BACK PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL(I DON'T KNOW HOW THE CAR PASSED INSPECTION) IT WAS SOLD TO ME WITH NO TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHEN I PUT SOME IN IT BEGAN TO LEAK BADLY(I HAVE PICTURES) THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR I NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE AND EVERYTIME I STARTED THE CAR IT BEGAN TO SHAKE FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS. EVERYDAY THE CARS ENGINE WOULD MAKE NEW NOISES, BY DAY FOUR THE CAR WOULDN'T START. DAY FIVE IT STARTED UP BUT IT WAS OVERHEATING WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF BEING ON(I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO READ THE HOT/COLD GAUGE YET BEING THAT THIS WAS MY FIRST CAR) I TRIED TAKING IT BACK BUT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT TAKE IT BACK. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING SEVERLY, THE HEAD GASKET IS OVERHEATING AND ITS WARPED 4.0.. ITS MISSING LUG NUTS, THE BRAKES ARE BAD, AND HAS MOISTURE IN THE OIL. I STOPPED DRIVING THE CAR UNLESS IT WAS A EMERGENCY AND WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY ONEDAY, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND STARTED TO JUMP BACK N FORTH AND I COULDN'T PRESS THE GAS BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT GO. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ON THE FREEWAY. I JUST RECENTLY TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC SHOP CALLED ARROW'S TRANSMISSION. THEY DECLARED THE ENTIRE ENGINE A TOTAL FAIL AND UNSAFE. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START. THE CONTACT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND RECEIVED A CODE THAT STATED THAT THE SHAFT SENSOR WAS OVER HEATING AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CLUTCH LOSES PRESSURE AND SITS ON THE FLOOR. SHIFTING IS MINIMAL AND EXTREMELY FORCED TO GET IN TO GEAR. THIS HAPPENED FROM A STOP, GETTING ON A HIGHWAY. A MONTH LATER, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN, THIS MAKES ME NERVOUS TO DRIVE WITH THEM IN THE CAR. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND AN UNACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. IT WAS NOTICED DURING INSPECTION THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS WERE STARTING TO PEEL AWAY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR POOR ENGINEERING AND MATERIALS OF THE VEHICLE. THEY SHOULD MAKE GOOD ON THE PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SERVICE HISTORY , THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT HAD TO MANY MILES. ALL REASONS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH POOR MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM THEY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO BE SERVICED AT GLICK NISSAN, THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT SAID THAT THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES OF THE FLOOR UNDER PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEATS ARE RUSTED OUT. I BROUGHT MY CAR FOR A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HIS REPORT SAID THE RUST IS SEVERE AND IN 6 MONTHS MY CAR WILL BE WORTH NOTHING! UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FIND THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHER NISSAN CUSTOMERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT USED BY NISSAN. I FILED A CLAIM WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, THEY ARE CLAIMING ZERO RESPONSIBILITY, LABELING THE ISSUE AS AN "ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN" AND WILL IN NO WAY ASSIST WITH REPAIRS. THE CLUTCH PEDAL LOST PRESSURE AFTER IDLING FOR OVER THIRTY MINUTES, WHILE IN TRAFFIC, AND AFTER THE ENGINE HAS GOTTEN HOT AND BEING DRIVEN FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. THE PEDAL WILL FALL TO THE FLOOR AND YOU CANNOT SWITCH GEARS. THE STICK SHIFT WON'T EVEN MOVE INTO NEUTRAL AND THE CAR JERKS REALLY HARD. IT WILL SOMETIMES CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IF YOU DON'T REACH DOWN AND PULL THE PEDAL UP WITH YOUR HAND. THIS HAS CAUSE ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE I COULD NOT DOWN SHIFT OR GO INTO NEUTRAL, I RECENTLY ENDED UP TAPPING THE REAR OF SOMEONE ELSES VEHICLE AT WHICH MY DAUGHTER IS STILL COMPLAINING HER NECK HURTS. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART DEALING WITH THE HYDRAULICS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. A LAWSUIT IS SURE TO BE ON THE WAY NOW THAT I HAVE WEN TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR BECAUSE IT WON'T DO IT FOR THEM. MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S HAS 88,500 MILES ON IT. IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, EXCEPT FOR THE FLOOR PANS UNDER THE VEHICLE (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES) THAT ARE RUSTING THROUGH. IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES AND NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. I NEED THIS FIXED, AS THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR 2 REASONS: STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND FUMES ENTERING VEHICLE. I WAS INFORMED BY MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER THAT THE ONLY PROPER REPAIR IS TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE FLOOR PAN METAL. THE ESTIMATE FOR THIS WAS AROUND $2500. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD SON AND A DAUGHTER ON THE WAY. I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE AT THIS TIME, AND NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS! *TR

THE ENTIRE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE FRONT SEATS IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH TO THE POINT THAT YOU CAN SEE THE ROAD UNDERNEATH THE CAR. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE FLOOR HAD HOLES IN IT (FOUND RIGHT AFTER I HAD ALREADY BOUGHT THE VEHICLE). THIS IS A HAZARD FOR THE PASSENGERS, VERY COMMON AMONGST NISSAN ALTIMAS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS ISSUE MAKES THE CAR UNSELLABLE SINCE IT WILL NEVER PASS INSPECTION UNLESS A MAJOR REPAIR IS DONE TO ITS BODY. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT A CAR WOULD HAVE STRUCTURAL ISSUES LIKE SEVERE RUST AND NISSAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND THE NHTSA NOT MAKE NISSAN BUY THE AFFECTED VEHICLES BACK.

VEHICLE SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AND DANGEROUSLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF TRYING TO START IT, IT FINALLY DID AND I DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 10 MILES WITHOUT NO FURTHER INCIDENTS. *TR ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS THE FAILURE OF THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR WHICH HAD EARLIER BEEN REPROGRAMMED IN 2008 DUE TO A RECALL TO AVOID SUCH A SUDDEN STALL FROM HAPPENING. NISSAN WAS NOT HELPFULL OTHER THAN REPLACING THE SAME SENSOR FROM AND CHARGE YOU A BOMB FOR IT. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CAN A DO A BETTER JOB WHEN ADDRESSING THEIR RECALLS RATHER THAN PROVIDING A BAND AID SOLUTION TO THEIR RECALLS. DURING THEIR RECALL CAMPAIGN, THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THIS SENSOR FROM THE GET GO RATHER THAN JUST REPROGRAMMING THE ECM WHICH STILL DIDNT ADDRESS CRITICAL ISSUE OF SAFETY FOR SUCH A SENSOR FAILING WITHOUT ANY WARNING.

AFTER JACKING UP MY MOTHER'S CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE, WHILE I WAS PLACING JACK STANDS BEHIND THE FRONT WHEELS IN THE APPROPRIATE JACKING POINTS, I NOTICED THAT THE FLOOR PANELS LOOKED SWOLLEN UNDERNEATH THE RUST PROOFING MATERIAL. I BEGAN TO POKE AT IT WITH MY FINGER, AND MY FINGER PUSHED THROUGH THE RUST PROOFING AND ALL KINDS OF SEVERELY RUSTED METAL BEGAN TO FALL OUT ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE STEEL FLOOR PANEL, HAD BASICALLY TURNED TO RUSTED DUST. I WAS ABLE TO PUSH MY FINGER UP THROUGH THE FLOOR PANEL UNTIL I COULD FEEL THE BOTTOM OF THE CARPET. NOTICING NO OTHER RUST ANYWHERE ELSE NEAR BY, I FIGURED IT HAD TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, SO I DECIDED TO CHECK THE DRIVER'S SIDE SAME LOCATION, AND SURE ENOUGH, WAS ABLE TO PUSH MY FINGER THROUGH THE RUST PROOFING AND THROUGH ROTTED STEEL LIKE IT WAS NOTHING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AS THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO RUST ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE CAR. THE CAR HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE, AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED, AS WELL AS GARAGE KEPT. NISSAN NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, AND A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
