OUR CAR IS 2.5L ENGINE, CAUSED SUDDENLY A PROBLEM WITH IGNITION FAILURES ON ONE DAY. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SHORTLY AFTER THAT CAR DIED. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO REPAIR FACILITY WHO HAS CLEARLY GAVE WRITTEN STATEMENT IT IS THE PROBLEM WITH CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.[ CODE P0335 -CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT] EVEN THERE WAS RECALL WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V527000. NISSAN REJECTED MY REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST STATING MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. I HAD SAME SYMPTOMS WHAT WAS WRITTEN IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID. CONTACTED NISSAN 800-647-7261 BUT OF NO USE. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5L ENGINE. I HAD A RECALL ON MY CAR WHERE THEY WOULD RESET ECM TO KEEP THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FROM OVERHEATING AND THE CAR SHUTTING OFF. AFTER I TAKE MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS DONE 9MONTHS LATER MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND I AM HAVING TO REPLACE MY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. TALKED WITH NISSAN NUMEROUS TIMES THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE MISTAKES THEY MADE NOT ME. OH AND THEN THEY CHARGED ME TO DISPOSE OF THE OLD PART WHICH THEY LEFT IN MY CAR. I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT THE CHARGE WAS FOR AND HE SAID THAT OSHA MADE THEM CHARGE IT FOR DISPOSAL OF THE PART AND WHEN I TOLD HIM THE PART WAS STILL IN MY CAR HE SAID WELL IT IS FOR PAPERWORK FEE AS WELL. *TR
2005 ALTIMA BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT U-JOINT HAD RUSTED AND SEIZED. (HE FELT THE SEALS ON THE SHAFT ARE DEFECTIVE.) HE HAD TO BACKORDER THE PART, SO THERE APPEARS TO BE A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. (ONE DEALER HAD FOURTEEN IN STOCK AND ALL WERE ACCOUNTED FOR. *TR
THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LIGHT TO CAME ON, CREATED A NO START CONDITION. *TR
MY CAR FAILS TO START ON OCCASION. THE FREQUENCY IS MONTHLY. THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT'S GOING TO START BUT JUST DOESN'T. IF I WAIT SEVERAL SECONDS AND TRY AGAIN, THEN THE ENGINE STARTS. FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN READING EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE COMPLAINING THAT IT'S THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. I THOUGHT THE RECALL FIXED THIS ISSUE BUT APPARENTLY NOT. SO MANY OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING YET NISSAN IS DOING NOTHING. THIS IS MY FIRST NISSAN AND MY LAST. I'LL STICK TO HONDA NEXT TIME. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR SPUTTERED ALMOST STALLING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND STAYED ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO A CAR PARTS STORE AND BORROWED THEIR COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS DEVICE AND FOUND OUT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE ESM, BUT NOTHING GOING TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM (THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR). THROUGH MY RESEARCH I FOUND THE PROBLEMS ATTRIBUTED TO THIS PART ARE NOT STARTING, SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND/OR SHUTTING-OFF WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN ON TWO PREVIOUS OCCASIONS FOR NOT STARTING, BUT NO DIAGNOSIS COULD BE ATTAINED BY NISSAN. AFTER SPEAKING WITH DIFFERENT LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, THE SERVICE TECH ADMITTED THE PROBLEM IS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILING. I FEEL NISSAN IS PUTTING A BAND-AID ON THE REAL PROBLEM DISGUISING IT WITH THE ESM REPROGRAM. THE FAILURE OF THIS PART CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON FORUMS, THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS AND APPARENTLY NISSAN HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE ALTIMA AS FAR BACK AS THE '03 MODEL YEAR. IT WAS ALSO STATED ON THE FORUMS THAT MULTIPLE SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED OVER AND OVER. I AM NOW WORRIED ABOUT MYSELF AND MY YOUNG CHILD'S SAFETY AS THIS CAR IS OUR MAIN SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. *TR
CLUTCH PEDAL WILL FALL TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN AN INABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONSIDERING THAT I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND HAD CARS BEHIND ME. *TR
THERE IS A DEFECT IN A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF V6 EQUIPPED NISSAN VEHICLES MY 2004-2007. NISSAN HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN NTB07-042 DESCRIBING THE ISSUE AND SOLUTION. POOR ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING DEFECTS LEAD TO ISSUES THAT CAN CAUSE THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAINS ON THESE VEHICLES TO FAIL. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT BECOME APPARENT UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, I.E. AFTER 60,000 MILES OF SERVICE. REPAIR REQUIRES THE ENGINE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE AND TORN DOWN TO REPLACE THESE PARTS. PARTS INCLUDE THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAINS AND CHAIN TENSIONERS. NISSAN IS REFUSING TO SUPPORT THEIR CUSTOMERS IN REGARD TO THESE REPAIRS. COST TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WILL RUN BETWEEN $1800 AND $2200 PER QUOTATION BY MY DEALER. TIMING CHAIN FAILURE WOULD LIKELY CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE. SHOULD SUCH FAILURE OCCUR UNDER HIGHWAY CONDITIONS, SERIOUS ACCIDENTS WITH CONCOMITANT INJURIES WOULD LIKELY RESULT. WHILE I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT, I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT NISSAN IS TAKING NO ACTION TO ADDRESS THIS POTENTIALLY SERIOUS ISSUE AFFECTING A SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE OF THEIR FLEET FOR THESE MODEL YEARS. IN NORMAL SERVICE, THE VEHICLES IN QUESTION ARE NOW REACHING THE POINT WHERE THIS PROBLEM WILL BEGIN TO MANIFEST ITSELF. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5SL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT ADVISED ME THE VEHICLE CAN STOP RUNNING WITHOUT NOTICE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. THE RECALL NOTICE ADVISED THAT THE FIX TO THIS PROBLEM WAS THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECM. TO KEEP MY DAUGHTER AND I SAFE ON THE ROAD, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE RECALL AS INSTRUCTED. BEFORE THE RECALL, MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE. NOT TO LONG AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE, MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE, WITH MY 10 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND THE CAR STALLED AND SHUT DOWN ON US WITHOUT WARNING. THANKFULLY ANOTHER VEHICLE DID NOT HIT US. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED ME IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. AFTER DOING SOME READING I FIND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM NISSAN HAS BEEN AVOIDING SINCE 2002 AND I WAS NOT THE ONLY OWNER WHOSE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON THEM WITHOUT WARNING. THE EVENTS, PATTERNS AND FAILURES I HAVE EXPERIENCED ARE THE SAME SEQUENCE OF EVENTS THAT SO MANY NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS HAVE REPORTED AND COMPLAINED ABOUT. I CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. I PAID $285 TO HAVE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR REPLACED. I THOUGHT RESPONDING TO THE RECALL WOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING AND WE WOULD BE SAFE; HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT STOP MY CAR FROM SHUTTING DOWN ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I BELIEVE NISSAN IS RECALLING THE WRONG THING AND DODGING THE RESPONSIBILITY OF REPLACING THE DEFAULT CRANKSHAFT SENSORS THAT ARE CAUSING THESE VEHICLES TO SHUT DOWN. A VEHICLE THAT IS SUBJECT TO SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. I SAVED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR THAT WAS REMOVED FROM MY VEHICLE JUST IN CASE SOMEONE DECIDES TO FINALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. AN INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED ON THE ROAD OR HIGHWAY. *TR
CAR HESITATES TO START,SEARCHED INTERNET TO FIND SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAS SAME MULTIPLE COMPLAINT. SOMETHING CALLED CRANK SENSOR IF SO MANY VEHICLES HAVE PROBLEM I THINK IT SHOULD BE RECALLED... I ONLY HAVE 40000 MILES ON MY CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK FOR 30-40 SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH REVEALED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 98,100. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE STEERING COUPLER FAILED. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE STEERING COUPLER AT THE COST OF $300, BUT IT IS CURRENTLY ON BACK ORDER. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK FROM A REPRESENTATIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000.
CAR WOULD NOT START AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON. CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS REPLACED, AT MY EXPENSE. TOLD MY VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE 2005 2.5S MODELS. IT'S ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THESE SAME ISSUES!!!!! *TR
NISSAN ALTIMA 2005. THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST UNDER SLOW SPEEDS. IE BACKING UP OR DRIFTING FORWARD. NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND BROUGHT IT INTO A SERVICE STATION. CODE WAS CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. PART WAS REALLY PRICEY SO I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND RECALL, OR SO I THOUGHT. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V527000, SEEMED TO APPLY TO THE PROBLEM. NISSAN SAID NO IT DID NOT. WOULD LIKE TO FILE COMPLAINT ABOUT NOT ONLY THE PROBLEM, BUT ALSO THE LACK OF SUPPORT IN A CLEARLY RECALLED ITEM REPAIR. I DO NOT HAVE THE VIN'S AFFECTED, BUT THE FACT THAT ALMOST 700,000 VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED AND MINE JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE IS RIDICULOUS. CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE A DELAY IN STARTING, SOMETIMES WOULD NOT START AT ALL. ALSO, THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED OR STOPPED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DID INTERNET RESEARCH. FOUND OTHER OWNERS OF NISSAN ALTIMA'S HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. BROUGHT THE CAR TO NISSAN DEALER WAS TOLD THEY HAD ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR GOING BAD. HAD IT REPLACED, THE CAR WORKS FINE NOW. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART. WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, YOU LOOSE ALL POWER! POWER STEERING, BRAKES, ETC. IT'S AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR

ALSO OF NOTE, DEALER REPAIRMAN NOTED THAT P0420 WAS DIAGNOSED STATING THAT THE CATALYST SYSTEM IS FAILING AND ENGINE MAY NEED TO BE REPLACE DEPENDING ON OIL CONSUMPTION LEVEL TO BE DETERMINED AFTER 1000 MILES DRIVEN. CANADIAN RECALL CAMPAIGN CODE: R86 CALLS FOR P0335 KGB SENSOR TO BE REPLACED BY DEALER WHEREAS NIACIN NORTH AMERICA'S ONLY "CORRECTIVE" ACTION IS FOR DEALERS TO REPROGRAM THE ECMA FREE OF CHARGE--WHICH, CONSEQUENTLY, DOES NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM--AND INSTEAD ATTEMPTS TO DIVERT THE COMPUTER FROM DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM--A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE (AND RELATED ENGINE FAILURE) COVERED PER THE FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY UNTIL 80,000 MILES. *TR
TIMING CHAIN ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IS MAKING A BUZZING/WHINING NOISE AT THE ENGINE AREA. THIS WHOLE PROCESS STARTED ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2009 WHEN THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT IT SHOULD BE FIXED TO THE AMOUNT OF $1,578.00 (+TAX). THEY EVEN SENT A "CPIA - GOODWILL RECOMMENDATION" REQUEST TO WHICH NISSAN'S MESSAGE BACK WAS "GOODWILL IS NOT RECOMMENDED". AT THAT TIME I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT IT DID NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME WHY A TIMING CHAIN THAT IS MEANT TO OUTLAST THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED WHEN MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 76,717 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ALWAYS ENSURED IT IS WELL MAINTAINED AT THE INTERVALS RECOMMENDED AND I AM A VERY SAFE AND GOOD DRIVER AND KEEP MY VEHICLE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION, IT IS NOT NEGLECTED IN ANYWAY. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I PHONE THE NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE LINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING FURTHER THAT COULD BE DONE. AFTER 6 PHONE CALLS WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE THEY TOO DECIDED THAT THEY FELT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT THEIR PROBLEM. SO I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND RECEIVED A RECOMMENDATION TO SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. I SENT HIM A VERY DETAILED EMAIL REQUESTING ASSISTANCE, HE STATED HE'D LOOK INTO MY CONCERNS. UNFORTUNATELY, HE TOO RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE THAT NISSAN FEELS THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED IN ANYWAY TO REPAIR THE TIMING CHAIN ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. AT THIS TIME I PLAN TO PURSUE THIS FURTHER BY CONTACTING THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND LEMON LAW TO SEE IF THEY CAN ASSIST IN ANYWAY. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS RIDICULOUS FOR THE CONSUMER TO PAY THE COST OF REPLACING A PART THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART, SINCE IT'S DESIGNED TO OUT LIVE THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE, LAST I CHECKED 76,000+ MILES ON A NISSAN IS NOT THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE. I HOPE THAT NISSAN WILL FINALLY REALIZE THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND ASSIST IN RESOLVING THIS MATTER FOR ME. *TR
WARNING LIGHT CAME ON "SERVICE ENGINE SOON", TOOK IT TO DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT IS THE CATALYST CONVERTER, COST AROUND 800.00, CAR IS A 2005 ALTIMA 2.5 WITH 110,000.00 MILES, PURCHASED NEW AND WELL MAINTAINED. WAS TOLD BY NISSAN WORKER AND ALSO FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND THE INTERNET THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, A PROBLEM THAT WE COULD DAMAGE THE ENGINE. PLEASE ADVISE AS WHAT CAN I DO. *TR NEREYDA CAMPOS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH A STEERING DEFECT. SHE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO COLLISION REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT CUPLER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A PRIVATE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000. WHEN THE WEATHER GETS VERY COLD THE BRAKES ON MY ALTIMA 3.5 WILL SEEM TO LOCK UP AND NOT WANT TO LET ME BRAKE. FEELS AS IF SOMEONE HAS STUCK A BRICK UNDER THE PEDAL. I HAVE HEARD MANY MANY COMPLAINTS AND PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ASAP. I'VE REPLACED THE PART ALREADY FOR THIS. FOR THE 3.5 PART NUMBER IS 47430-8J100. 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS ISSUES WITH TIRES AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT GOOD WITH PHONE CALLS. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS ON HER THIRD SET OF TIRES AT 22,000 MILES. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE VEHICLE HAD WEAK AXLES AND WERE OFTEN MIS-ALIGNED AT THE FACTORY. EVEN WITH THE PROPER MAINTENANCE, THE MIS-ALIGNMENT WOULD RETURN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR WAS THE CAUSE. MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEREBY TWO CARS SIDESWIPED EACH OTHER. THE IMPACT WAS SEVERE, RIPPING THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR OFF, EXPLODING THE FRONT LEFT TIRE AND DAMAGING THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $250 TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE FAILURE HAD LITTLE TO DO WITH THE RECALL. HE CHOSE NOT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT THE TIME; HOWEVER, HE PAID $80 TO GET HIS VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL RACK FAILED, CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO DRIFT INTO OTHER LANES. AT THAT SAME MOMENT I SMELLED THIS HORRIBLE BURNING. I TOOK MY CAR IN THE TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN LUBBOCK, TX AND THE ISSUE WAS SUPPOSEDLY CORRECTED. I HAD NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH MY CAR UNTIL AFTER THIS REPAIR WAS DONE. I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR AND RIGHT AFTERWARDS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS REMAINED ON SINCE THEN. I CALLED OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS OK FOR THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO BE ON AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. SOON AFTERWARD MY CAR BEGAN TO HAVE TROUBLE CRANKING. I WOULD GO SEVERAL DAYS WITHOUT WANTING TO CRANK AT ALL AND ALSO IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE TO TURN OVER IF IT WAS CRANKING. ABOUT TWO DAYS AGO MY CAR WOULD NOT CRANK ONCE AGAIN. I LET THE CAR SIT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND ATTEMPTED TO CRANK IT AGAIN. THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT CRANK. I GOT THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE ISSUE WAS, AS OTHERS PREVIOUSLY STATED, THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ASKED IF THE CRANKSHAFT WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT WAS "MENTIONED" IN THE RECALL BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY COVERED TO BE REPAIRED BY THE RECALL. I WAS ADVISED THAT THOSE TWO REPAIRS WILL BE $208.00 TO REPAIR PLUS TAXES AND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO REPAIR IT FREE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THESE ISSUES WOULD BE FREE UNDER THE RECALL. I CALLED THE NISSAN USA NUMBER AND ASKED FOR A RESOLVE. I ASKED FOR THE REPAIRS TO BE PAID BY THEM BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THIS VERY PROBLEM FROM OCCURRING HOWEVER INSTEAD OF PREVENTING THE PROBLEM, THE REPAIRS CAUSED THE PROBLEM TO START. THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE FEES AND TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY THE BILL AND THEN SUBMIT THE BILL TO THEM FOR RESEARCH TO SEE IF THEY COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT. THE FEE SHOULD NOT BE MY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE AN ALTIMA 2005, SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A LETTER SAYING THAT ALL CERTAIN MODELS THAT CAME OUT OF THE COMPANY,CAME WITH AN AFFECT ON THE ENGINE. BEFORE I RECEIVE THE LETTER BY THEN I ALREADY HAD BY CAR TAKEN TO FIX IT, SO I PAID. NOW ON THIS MONTH SEPTEMBER 16, 2008 I WENT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND FIRST I DID NOT LIKE THE WAY THEY ATTENDED ME, SECOND THEY WANTED ME TO CHARGE ME 100 DOLLARS JUST TO CHECK IF IT WAS THE PROBLEM THAT SAID IN THE PAPER AND IF IT WAS. IT WAS GOING TO BE FREE OR OTHERWISE IF IT CAME WITH SOMETHING ELSE THAT'S WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME WITH THAT AMOUNT. NOW MY COMPLAIN IS WHY AM I GOING TO PAY 100 . IF IT WAS NOT MY FAULT THAT IT WAS THE MANUFACTURE OF THE CAR. I DID NOT PAID 25 GRAND. FOR NOTHING. NOW I WOULD LIKE THAT PROBLEM TO BE FIX WITHOUT CHARGE BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT THE CAR, CAME OUT WITH A PROBLEM FROM THE COMPANY.
