I OWN A NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R, I PURCHASED THE CAR PRE-OWNED WITH 42K MILES ON IT. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR JUST A MONTH THE CLUTCH WILL SINK TO THE FLOOR AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO ANY GEARS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR AND ITS GOING TO BE 2 YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR THIS SUMMER. MANY OF THE TIMES THE CLUTCH HAS LOST PRESSURE GOING OVER BRIDGES AND STOPPING TO PAY TOLLS AND DURING TRAFFIC. HOW CAN I OPERATE MY VEHICLE CORRECTLY IF THE CLUTCH KEEPS LOOSING PRESSURE BECAUSE THE MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDER LOOSES PRESSURE. HOW SAFE IS THAT FOR NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT OTHER MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATORS ON THE ROAD. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW. A LITTLE AFTER IT WAS 3 YEARS (08)THAT I HAD IT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. NISSAN TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS OVER MILEAGE SO I WAS RESPONSIBLE OUT OF POCKET. SO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC 1200 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET, A LITTLE OVER A YEAR (09), SAME PROBLEM ANOTHER 1200, IN 2012 ONCE AGAIN ANOTHER 1000 AND NOW AS OF LAST MONTH TRANSMISSION NUMBER 4 ANOTHER 1000. AS OF TODAY JULY 30. 2013 THE CAR ONCE AGAIN IS STALLING. FRIEND OF MIND TOLD ME BOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BOUT THE NISSANS TRANS. AS A WOMAN WHO DEPENDS ON HER CAR ALOT I CAN TELL YOU THAT OWNING THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN PLEASANT AT ALL. I HAVE HAD IT STALL ON ME AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS, HIGHWAYS, AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NITE WHILE WORKING. NISSAN DOESN'T SEEM TO REALIZE THAT THEIR WAY OF DOING BUSINESS AND HIDING THE TRUTH BEHIND THEIR DEFECTIVE VEHICLES IS AND CONTINUES TO PUT PEOPLE LIVES IN JEOPARDY. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THEIR PRODUCT BEING OUT ON THE STREET. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT SUCH A PRETTY CAR WAS A PIECE OF CRACK, I WOULD HAVE SPENT ALOT LESS THAN 20000 DOLLARS ON A NEW CAR THAT WAS SO CALLED GOOD QUALITY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CLUTCH PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. SUDDENLY, THE TRANSMISSION BRAKE ENGAGED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA STARTED STALLING AT LOW SPEEDS AND THE ENGINE BEGAN JUMPING AT ACCELERATION. APPARENTLY, I HAD A RECALL ON THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THORNHILL NISSAN IN FORT WORTH, TEXAS AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPROGRAM THE ECM. THE NEXT DAY THE SEL CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN WITH ITS PROBLEMS. WHEN I CALLED DALENE VASQUEZ AT THORNHILL NISSAN SHE STATED THAT THE SENSOR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME $200 TO REPLACE. THROUGH MY OWN INDEPENDENT RESEARCH I FIND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM SINCE THEIR 2002 MODELS AND THEY WON'T REPLACE THE $40 SENSOR. *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. IT WARNED OF SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAT MIGHT ARISE FROM A DEFECT THAT MAKES THE ENGINE POSSIBLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I HAD IT FIXED SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND CAR OTHERWISE WAS HICCUPING IN TRAFFIC. I RETURNED TODAY, AND THEY CHARGED ME $250!! FOR FIXING SOMETHING CALLED A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. SUCH SENSOR WAS, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, PART OF THE RECALL PROBLEM. YET, IT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS RECALL IS RELATED TO THE SENSOR ISSUE, REPLACING THE SENSOR ITSELF IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF WHAT IS COVERED BY THE RECALL. IF THAT'S THE CASE, I DON'T GET THE POINT OF THE RECALL. IT OBVIOUSLY IS MORE ABOUT MONEY MAKING AND/OR SAVING FACE WITHOUT PAYING TO FIX A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS WITH THESE SAME COMPLAINTS ON LINE. I'D JUST LIKE TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE MANY OTHERS SO THAT SOMETHING MIGHT BE DONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). SHE CONSULTED THE DEALER AND TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ECM MODULE AS THE RECALL REMEDY. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE REPAIR, SHE NOTICED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MOSTLY ON THE FREEWAY. THE DEALER ADVISED HER TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,030 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
RECALL NOTICE ON RESETTING A ECM UNIT BECAUSE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR COULD SHUTOFF CAR WHILE DRIVING. MY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS BAD, I HAD IT REPLACED BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF ENTIRELY. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 61,000.
MY CAR WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL I GOT IN MY CAR ONE DAY AND IT WOULD BARELY CRANK. IT TOOK IT A MINUTE, BUT IT FINALLY DID. THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THEN, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, MY CAR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK AT IT BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. WELL, MY LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON UNTIL THIS STARTED HAPPENING. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY CAR FITS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL TO A TEE. I HAVE GONE TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT BEING WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR WILL MAKE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK AT IT OR FIX IT BECAUSE OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND HOPEFULLY SOON. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND NOTICED THAT HER CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIR COULD BE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
WHEN CAR IS COLD, CLUTCH HAS TROUBLE, THIS HAS BEEN SINCE THE DAY I GOT IT AT 45,000 MILES. THE CLUTCH HAS ALWAYS HAD TO GO THE FLOOR TO ENGAGE AND I WAS RECENTLY TOLD BY A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS DANGEROUS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 65-70 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DOWNSHIFT THE VEHICLE UPON APPROACHING A TOLL BOTH. THE CLUTCH EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE GEAR COULD NOT BE SHIFTED. THE CLUTCH EVENTUALLY RETURNED TO ITS NORMAL POSITION. THE DEALER WOULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSOR FAILED. THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHUT OFF. ON AUGUST 1, 2008, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC AND WAS REAR ENDED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND THREE PASSENGERS RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) TWO WEEKS AFTER THE CRASH. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT INVESTIGATE. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 103,000. UPDATED 03/24/09.*LJ UPDATED 03/24/09.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN. SHE WAITED AWHILE, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND CONTINUED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRANK SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ON RECALL. THE CONTACT PAID $482 FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,949. THIS SUMMER, I VISITED CROWN NISSAN IN HOOVER, ALABAMA TO ADDRESS PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING WITH MY CAR. SPECIFICALLY, MY 'SERVICE ENGINE SOON' LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING, AFTER MY CAR TRIED REPEATEDLY TO STALL. (THIS HAD HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE, WITHOUT THE LIGHT COMING ON.) WHILE THERE, I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL, THE FIXING OF WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THAT VERY PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY, I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND IT STALLED OUT (WITHOUT THE LIGHT COMING ON), AND I IMMEDIATELY CALLED CROWN'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WHEN THE RECALL DID NOT ADDRESS THE STALLING, AND IT WAS USUALLY THE CAM AND CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR. I ASKED WHY NISSAN USA DID NOT RECALL THE CAM AND CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR, IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO SAY IN THAT. SO I CALLED NISSAN USA, ALERTED THEM TO THE PROBLEM, AND ASKED THAT THEY OPEN UP A FILE FOR ME, AS I THOUGHT THEY SHOULD RECALL THE CAM SENSOR, IF IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE PROBLEM. AFTER SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THE CAM /CRANK SHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR WAS RECALLED IN CERTAIN 2002-2003 ALTIMAS. FINALLY, MY CAR KEPT STALLING UNTIL THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALERSHIP (DUE TO OTHER ISSUES WITH CROWN). IT WAS THERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAM/CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN ASKED IF THIS WAS CUSTOMARY, I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALTIMAS LIKE MINE, FOR WHICH THE RECALL FAILED TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM. AGAIN, I ASKED WHY THIS CAM/CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS NOT RECALLED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO HAVE ON THE ROAD. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT UP WITH NISSAN USA. I CALLED NISSAN USA AND REQUESTED A REFUND, AND ASKED THAT THEY RECALL THE PART. MY CASE WAS ASSIGNED TO A FIELD REP, WHO HAS NEVER CALLED ME. AFTER NO RESPONSE TO MY CALLS, I SENT A LETTER DEMANDING A REFUND AND A RECALL. NO RESPONSE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE DEALER. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED AND THE DEALER COULD NOT REPROGRAM THE ECM. BECAUSE THE FAILURE ALREADY OCCURRED, THE DEALER COULD NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE SENSOR UNDER THE RECALL. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA GOES DEAD IN TRAFFIC, OFTEN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. ON JULY 14, 2008, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND LOST TOTAL POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHTS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, BUT IT APPEARED TO LOCK INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE FINALLY RESTARTED AFTER BEING SHUT OFF FOR A WHILE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO COME IN NEXT WEEK FOR A RECALL REPAIR, WHICH WAS BELIEVED TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 45,000.

SHE CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD ONLY INVOLVE REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER, RATHER THAN REPAIRING THE CRANKSHAFT, WHICH REALLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT'S CONCERN WAS THAT THE RECALL REPAIR ONLY STALLED THE FAILURE INSTEAD OF PROVIDING A REMEDY. ON JULY 10, 2008, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AT A STOP SIGN. THE VEHICLE LOST TOTAL POWER AND NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. AFTER WAITING TWO MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE TO PUMP GAS, IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SURGE OCCASIONALLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 64,000.
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. MY CAR SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I HAVE NOT BEEN INJURED YET ,BUT IT COULD STILL HAPPEN. I HAD THE COMPUTER REPROGRAMMED AS DEFINED IN THE RECALL INFORMATION, BUT THE CAR IS STILL BEHAVING BADLY. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE AND I WORK 30 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY HOME. THE RIDE TO WORK IS DANGEROUS AND MY CAR'S ENGINE PROBLEM COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS OTHER THAN REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER WHICH HAD NO REAL IMPACT ON THE PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACED THE PART THAT WAS DESCRIBED BY A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AS FAULTY AND THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES IN DANGER. THIS MUST STOP. *TR
I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM YOU GUYS AFTER THE FACT. MY CAR DEALERSHIP(SERVICE GUY). I WENT TO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR SOMETHING ELSE AND THAT'S HOW I FOUND OUT OF THE RECALL. SOMETHING COULD'VE HAPPEN TO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR WITHOUT WARNING. THEY DID REPROGRAM THE CAR MODULE. BUT I DON'T THINK THAT'S THE ISSUE THE CAR IS STILL DRIVING AS IT DID BEFORE AND I HOPE I DID NOT PURCHASE ONE OF YOUR MANY CARS I'VE HEARD OF AS A LEMON. I REALLY NEED TO KNOW MY NEXT STEPS IN LOOKING INTO GETTING A UPGRADE ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE THESE ALTIMAS. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP AND GO THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN TAKE THIS CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO SWITCH IT OUT I ONLY HAVE 34,399 MILES ON THIS CAR. THIS WAS THE SECOND RECALL ON THIS CAR AND I ONLY HAD THIS CAR A YEAR I TRADED IN MY GALANT 01 AND THAT ONLY HAD 59,732 MILES ON IT SO I'M NOT HARD ON CARS I TAKE CARE OF THINGS. MY SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME I DON'T WANT TO HURT NO ONE AND I DON'T WANT NO ONE TO HURT ME OR GET KILLED. ON OCCASION, MY CAR CLUTCH SINKS TO THE GROUND AND LOSES ALL PRESSURE. THE CAR WOULD BE OUT OF COMMISSION UNTIL THE PRESSURE COMES BACK IN ABOUT A 1/2 HR. THE "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON MY VEHICLE ON MONDAY SO I CONTACTED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT, AT WHICH TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $99 TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. ON WEDNESDAY, I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL A RECALL NOTICE ON THE VEHICLE THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE ENGINE. ON THURSDAY I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PERFORM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR $99 FIRST AND THEN DO THE RECALL INSPECTION BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. HOWEVER, IT SEEMS THAT SINCE THE RECALL IS FREE, THEY SHOULD DO THAT FIRST AND THEN PERHAPS THAT ACTUALLY IS THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THE RECALL, HAVING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE, MIGHT BE THE CAUSE OF THE LIGHT TURNING ON. SINCE THAT WORK, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS BEEN ON IN THE VEHICLE WHICH REPORTED A VALVE PROBLEM. PRIOR TO THIS WORK BEING DONE, THE LIGHT DID NOT GO ON. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAD IT REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL FOR THE ECM. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE ENGINE THROTTLE. THE DEALER STILL HAS POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE CONTACT IS AFRAID TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000. UPDATED 07/07/08. *LJ
