MOTOR MOUNT FAILURE. THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM STARTING AT 20000 MILES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INTERNET AND BLOGS WITH OTHER NISSAN OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM CAUSING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS AND OTHER SAFETY PROBLEMS LIKE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKS LEAKING INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. *TR
NISSAN DEALERSHIP REFUSING REFUND FOR RECALLED CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IN 2005 ALTIMA. *TR
ALL OF MY THE RIMS OF MY VEHICLE HAVE RUSTED. NORMALLY THIS HAPPENS, I WAS TOLD FROM ACCUMULATION OF SALT DO TO SNOW STORMS. WE HAVE NOT HAD THAT MANY SNOW STORM FOR THIS CONDITION. CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN. *TR
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S HAS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED FOR HOURS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (ENGINE CODE P0335). THIS FAULTY PART HAS ALSO DISABLED THE CAR WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY STREETS. AS A RESULT, WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO TRUST THE RELIABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE RENDERED IT COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS PERFORMED A "REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECM" AS REQUIRED BY A RECALL NOTICE ISSUED ON DECEMBER 10, 2007. THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE CONDITION. THERE EXISTS A RECALL THAT REQUIRES DEALERSHIPS TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS ON 2002 AND 2003 NISSAN ALTIMAS, BUT NOT FOR A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA, WHICH APPARENTLY SUFFERS FROM THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THERE IS LITTLE TO NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE MODEL YEAR VEHICLES AS FAR AS ENGINE COMPONENTS ARE CONCERNED. PLEASE EXTEND THE RECALL NOTICE SO THAT OWNERS OF 2005 MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S VEHICLES MAY ALSO HAVE THEIR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS REPLACED TO PREVENT DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS FROM OCCURRING. *TR
DURING COLD WEATHER, I EXPERIENCED WHAT FELT LIKE A SEIZED BRAKING SYSTEM. THE WEATHER WAS CLOSE TO 0 AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. AFTER PRESSING WITH BOTH LEGS AS HARD AS I COULD, THE PEDAL GAVE AND THE CAR STOPPED. RESEARCH LED ME TO REPLACE THE BRAKE VACUUM ASSIST LINE IN THIS AND MY WIFES 05 ALTIMA. PURCHASED BOTH ITEMS THROUGH THE DEALER AND IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, I WOULD LOVE A REFUND AS NISSAN SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHENEVER THE CONTACT BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLS AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE AFTERWARDS. HE DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. I TOOK MY NISSAN ALTIMA IN FOR REPAIR FOR THE RECALL ON IT IN JAN 08 AND WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR I CB THE NEXT DAY AND ADVISE THEM THAT MY CAR WAS NOT RUNNING CORRECTLY, IT HAS CONTINUE TO GET WORST I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR ON AUG 20 BECAUSE MY CAR STALLS WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF. THEY CALL ME BACK ON 8/22 AND SAID THAT IT WAS THE SPEEDO CLUSTER AND IT HAS BEEN FIXED CHARGED 420.00. 2 WEEKS LATER MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON AND MY CAR IS STILL STALLING. I FEEL AS IF MY CAR IS GOING TO CUT OFF WHILE I'M ON THE INTERSTATE AND CAUSE A ACCIDENT OR WORST MY LIFE. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THEM AND THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBLY FOR NOT FIXING MY CAR CORRECTLY THEY SAID THAT THE COMPUTER IS SAYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT NOW THAT WHAT THE COMPUTER SAID 2 WEEKS AGO BUT I ADVISE THEM THAT I DID NOT BRING MY CAR THERE FOR AN EXPERIMENT IT WAS TAKEN THERE TO FIX THE STALLING AND ITS STILL DO THE SAME THING. I ASKED THEM FOR MY MONEY BACK SO I CAN GET MY CAR FIX ELSE WHERE. SHEEHY NISSAN OF GLEN BURNIE ALSO SAYS THAT THEY THINK IT MAY BE MY CRANK SENSOR BUT THIS IS WHY I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING THAT IS NOW HAPPENING WITH MY CAR. I PULL UP HISTORY ON THE NISSAN ALTIMA AND A LOT OF CUSTOMER ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER THEY TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIR ON THE RECALL THE ENGINE LIGHT AND STALLING HAPPENS WITH YOUR VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND THEY ARE TAKING IT LIKELY. IT STARTED OUT STALLING AROUND ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK NOW ITS DOING IT EVERYDAY AND THE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA STALLED WHILE DRIVING, AND "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO ARRIVE HOME, HOWEVER I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THEY INFORMED ME MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, SINCE MY PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. *TR
THE BRAKES ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED DUE TO WEAR FOR THE SECOND TIME IN ONLY 60K MILES. THE FIRST TIME WAS AT 25K AND I WAS SURPRISED BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS LIKE THIS ON ANY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2005 ALTIMA BRAND NEW AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY TWICE. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED JUST PASSED THE 36,000 MILE MARK (LESS THEN TWO YEARS) SO I WAS STUCK PAYING OUT OF MY POCKET. THE SECOND INCIDENT JUST HAPPENED IN DEC. 17, 2007 WHERE THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED (POSSIBLE CAUSE: CRANKSHAFT SENSOR), AND THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT START WHILE AT THE INTERSECTION. A QUICK JUMP START GOT ME UP AND RUNNING, BUT THE BATTERY TESTED BAD AT THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE.*CN
I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR UNTIL THIS RECALL WAS REPAIRED - NHTSA CAMPAIGN #07V527000 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA -- ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR. IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ECM FREE OF CHARGE. MY CAR WAS PART OF THIS RECALL. SINCE THE REPROGRAMMING WAS COMPLETED MY CAR STARTED HAVING SLOW ACCELERATION AND JERKS WHILE ENGINE TRIES TO UPSHIFT. IT BEGAN TO NOT CRANK AT ALL. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY WOULD. THIS HAPPENS VERY OFTEN AND I NEVER KNOW IF MY CAR WILL START. NISSAN COULD NOT DIAGNOSIS SINCE MY ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T ON. THE PROBLEM HAS INCREASED TO THE ENGINE CUTTING OFF BY ITSELF AND JUST NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON. I AM TAKING IT IN FOR DIAGNOSIS TOMORROW BUT CAN SEE THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE THESE SERIOUS PROBLEMS. NISSAN NEEDS TO REPLACE THE ECM INSTEAD OF REPROGRAMMING SINCE IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I AM FEARFUL THAT AN ACCIDENT WILL RESULT FROM THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AUTOMATICALLY AFTER 20 MINUTES AND THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
GOT A LETTER STATING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT COULD CAUSE ENGINE TO STOP AND CAUSE A CRASH WHICH HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TO MY CAR , IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
EACH WINTER SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR, DURING COLD WEATHER, WHEN CAR IS FIRST STARTED, BRAKES DO NOT WORK. IT IS LIKE THEY ARE FROZEN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL NOT DEPRESS UNLESS FORCED. ONCE I GET THE PEDAL TO GO DOWN, THE PEDAL MUST BE PUMPED NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET THEM TO WORK. ONCE CAR IS WARMED, THEY WILL WORK. THIS IS A 3.5 SE MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT LOCATE ANY PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE FOLLOWED BY THE VEHICLE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) IN DECEMBER 2007. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE ECM FOR A SECOND TIME IN JULY 2009 HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA BUILT IN 2004 BAD CRANK SHAFT SENSOR, WAS ALREADY RECALLED 2002 & 2003 MODELS AND NISSAN IS NOT RECALLING THE 2004 BUILT ONES. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A SITUATION I HAD WITH MY LEASED 2005 ALTIMA THAT COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR DRIVERS AND I THINK YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO FOR A POSSIBLE CALL BACK. SEVEN (7) OF THE CLIPS ( PART 01553-09321) CAME OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE LOWER ENGINE COVER TO FALL DOWN AND HANGING BY THE REMAINING CLIPS. NOT KNOWING THE PROBLEM, I WAS STARTLED AND HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OVER TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I HAD TO TAPE THE LOWER ENGINE COVER WITH DUCT TAPE IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE COVER IS BEING HELD ON BY CLIPS RATHER THAN BOLTS. IF BOLTS OR SCREWS WERE IN IT, IT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY REPLACES A LOT OF THESE CLIPS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF YOU ARE REPLACING A LOT OF CLIPS, THEY ARE NOT DOING THE JOB. IF LOWER ENGINE COVER FALLS DOWN, IT COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF THE CAR IS GOING AT A HIGH SPEED. I THINK IT IS INCUMBENT ON YOU TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER, BEFORE THERE IS A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I AM NOW VERY NERVOUS ABOUT USING THE CAR, BECAUSE IF IT HAPPENED ONCE, IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. THE DEALER IS STATEN ISLAND NISSAN 222 PARKINSON AVE, STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK 10305 (718) 447-3878. I SPOKE TO NISSAN AND THEY CLAIM THAT THERE WAS A SCRAPE ON THE BOTTOM AND THAT IT WAS MY FAULT THAT IT HAPPENED. IF CLIPS CAN POP THAT EASY, THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG. IT COULD NOT HAPPEN IF THEY USED BOLTS. *TR
CAR WILL JERK AND CUT OFF SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION AND WHEN SITTING STILL IDLING. MAKES DRIVING VERY HAZARDOUS. FOUND OUT A RECALL ON THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR SO CALLED LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND TOOK IN FOR THE REPAIR. FOUND OUT NISSAN ONLY ALLOWS DEALER TO REPROGRAM THE SENSOR UNDER THE RECALL. THIS, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, PROBABLY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, AFTER 3 DAYS OF DRIVING WITH NO EVENT, IT STARTED AGAIN. I FOUND OUT THIS IS A MAJOR RECALL INVOLVING THOUSANDS OF ALTIMA'S. ALSO, SINCE THE 2005 MODEL, THE NISSAN CORP. HAS REDESIGNED THIS SENSOR BECAUSE OF ALL THE PAST PROBLEMS . THE LOCAL DEALER THAT REPROGRAMMED THE SENSOR SAID WE WILL HAVE TO PAY $194.00 TO REPLACE IT. WHEN NISSAN REDESIGNED THIS SENSOR DUE TO PROBLEMS IN THE PAST, THEY SHOULD STAND BY THE OWNERS OF THE STILL DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT REPROGRAMMING DOES NOT FIX, AND REPLACE THE SENSOR AS PART OF THE RECALL. THIS IS ABSURD TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT PART INVOLVED IN A RECALL. THE REPROGRAMMING DID NOT FIX THE SENSOR, THE DEALER SAID NUMEROUS TIMES IT HAS NOT. (WITH OTHER OWNERS) THIS PROBLEM WITH THE CAR SUDDENLY FAILING ALMOST CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY TO ME .IT HAS CUT OFF SUDDENLY NUMEROUS TIMES ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND I HAD TO NAVIGATE/COAST TO RIGHT SIDE,, PULL OF THE ROAD AND RESTART . ALSO, WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN, IT CUT OFF SUDDENLY,WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE, CAUSING THE CAR TO SLOWLY ROLL OUT IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, NOT REALIZING ENGINE HAD FAILED. THIS PUTS ANYONE IN YOUR CAR IN SERIOUS DANGER. I FEAR IT IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE ENGINE IS TO FAIL.. IF GOING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED IT WILL SOMETIMES JERK,, THEN CUT OFF, OR FAIL WITH NO WARNING. WHEN IDLING IT CONSISTENTLY FAILS. NO JERKING. BECAUSE THE SENSOR IS LINKED TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME . *TR
MY 2005 ALTIMA WAS FAILING TO START NORMALLY. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC TO FIND OUT WHY. AFTER SOME SEARCHING MY MECHANIC FOUND THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND HAD CAUSED OTHER FAULT CODES TO OCCUR. THE CAR HAS APPROX 56,000 MILES ON IT AND I WAS TOLD THIS PROBLEM NORMALLY SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH THIS AMOUNT OF MILES. WHEN THE PART WAS PICKED UP BY THE MECHANIC, HE WAS TOLD THAT EIGHT OF THESE SENSORS WERE RECENTLY SOLD FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND SOME OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS. ONE PERSON SUGGESTED A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE PART WAS $42 BUT AFTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND AN OIL CHANGE, MY BILL WAS ALMOST $200! I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE ALTIMA UP TO THIS POINT BUT FEEL THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS OUT THERE WHO HAVE SUFFERED THIS SAME PROBLEM. IF THAT IS THE CASE, A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. IF A RECALL HAPPENS TO BE ISSUED, THEN I FEEL I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR HAVING TO PAY FOR FIXING MY VEHICLE. *TR
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH DECELERATION PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WILL DECELERATE FROM WHAT EVER SPEED TO ABOUT 20 MPH. HE STATES THAT THE DEALER KEEPS SAYING BRING IT IN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS HAVING THE PROBLEM. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE THROTTLE CHAMBER WAS REPLACED AND THE FUEL INJECTION SERVICED, HOWEVER LATER IN THE MONTH, THE PROBLEM RE-SURFACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE ALWAYS SEEMED TO RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN ON DECEMBER 7TH AND 15TH. *JB
PERIODICALLY MY VEHICLE FAILS TO START ON THE FIRST TRY, IT JUST WON'T TURN OVER, BUT ON THE SECOND TRY IT IS FINE. YESTERDAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER AT ALL. IT IS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE AS THE WIPERS/LIGHTS COME ON. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THEY HAVE HAD A FEW COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY 'FLOODED'? I WENT OUT AN HOUR AFTER MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT STARTING THE CAR AND IT STILL DID NOT START. NOT SURE HOW A FUEL INJECTED VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT USE THE ACCELERATOR TO START, GETS FLOODED? THIS MAKES ME NERVOUS I'M GOING TO GET STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH A VEHICLE THAT PERIODICALLY WILL FLOOD AND NOT START??? THE DEALER DID NOT FIX OR REPLACE ANYTHING. NOT VERY COMFORTING. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 40MPH, THE DRIVER ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. HE ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRESENT DURING, BEFORE OR AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. OTHER TIMES THE CAR WOULD STALL COMPLETELY AT LOW SPEEDS, LOOSING POWER TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES PUTTING MYSELF IN A SITUATION HARMFUL TO THOSE STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. THE STALL OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING TO MYSELF OR OTHERS AROUND ME, CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY-RELATED PROBLEM. I RESEARCHED & FOUND SAFETY-RELATED RECALLS FOR THE '02, '03, '04 MODELS BUT NOT 2005. MY VEHICLE HAD 41,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS NO RECALL YET FOR THE 2005 MODEL ALTHOUGH I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS THE OTHER RECALLS IDENTIFIED. THE SERVICE PERSONNEL CALLED ME AFTER MY CAR WAS LOOKED AT AND ADVISED THAT THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAD FAILED DUE TO EXPERIENCING HOT CONDITIONS & THE SOLDER HOLDING THEM IN PLACE MELTED (AGAIN CONSISTENT WITH PREVIOUSLY ISSUED TSBS AND RECALLS). I PLEADED, THIS SHOULD BE UNDER A RECALL, BOTH WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND WITH VICTORY NISSAN FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE ALTIMA. I WAS LEFT PAYING THE FEE MYSELF. THE RECALL FOR THE 2005 MODEL WAS ISSUED IN DECEMBER 2007 AND I AM TRYING TO GET A REFUND FOR HAVING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THAT NISSAN IDENTIFIED AS SAFETY-RELATED. THE RECALL LISTS REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECM, WHICH NEEDED TO BE COMPLETED, SINCE THE ECM WOULD LOOSE COMMUNICATION WITH THE TCM. HOWEVER THE REASON FOR THE FAILURE IN COMMUNICATION STEMMED FROM THE FAILURE OF THE POSITION SENSORS. A BEARING-CLUTCH AND LIMITED SLIP WERE ALSO INSTALLED. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,200.
I PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IN 2006 WITH 13, 000 MILES. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING IT, I BEGAN TO HAVE ISSUES WITH A "SPONGY" CLUTCH...MEANING IT WOULD BECOME VERY LOOSE. OFTEN IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PUMPED AND THEN SHOVED INTO GEAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER COMPLAINING OF THE ISSUES WITH THE CLUTCH. THEY HAD IT FOR A DAY AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. OF COURSE, BACK THEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM NEVER WENT AWAY. IN FACT, IT BECAME WORSE UNTIL IT WAS FINALLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS CLUTCH ISSUE WOULD OCCUR AT RANDOM TIMES IN DIFFERENT WEATHER MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT OR AVOID. OFTEN, I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. EVENTUALLY, I HAD TO HAVE THE MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDER REPLACED AND THE ENTIRE CLUTCH SYSTEM REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. BOTH WERE TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS. AGAIN, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH. MY CAR CLUTCH NOW STICKS TO THE FLOOR MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SWITCH GEARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. OFTEN I AM STRUGGLING TO GET THE CAR MOVING IN TRAFFIC OR AT TURNS PUTTING ME AND MY CHILDREN IN DANGER. THEY SAID WE WOULD GET A DISCOUNT OF 30 DOLLARS/TIRE AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE REST, ABOUT $350 DOLLARS. THE CLENCHER WAS THAT I HAD TO BUY CONTINENTAL! WHO WANTS TO PUT DEFECTIVE TIRES BACK ON THEIR CAR? NOT ME! I GOT A DEAL, ELSE WHERE FOR BETTER TIRES. COMPANIES SHOULD TREAT CUSTOMERS BETTER, TO KEEP CUSTOMERS. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER NISSAN, OR OTHER VEHICLE AGAIN IF THEY HAVE THE SAME TIRES! A PERSON SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE A SEVERE ACCIDENT, OR DIE TO GET A COMPANY TO ADMIT THEIR PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE.
ON RANDOM OCCASIONS, THE CLUTCH PEDAL LOOSES PRESSURE. IT ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES VERY CLOSE TO FLOOR. PRESSING THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS VERY SOFT UNTIL IT IS ALMOST COMPLETELY DEPRESSED. THE SITUATION IS RANDOM AND TYPICALLY LAST 5 TO 10 MINUTES AND THEN CORRECTS ITSELF. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED, BUT IT WAS NOT ACTING FAULTY AT THE TIME AND THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, NO TSB OR RECALLS. I HAVE CALLED TO NOTIFY THEM AGAIN THAT IT STILL OCCURS AND THEY SUGGEST THAT I BRING IT IN WHEN IT HAPPENS, BUT SINCE IT COMES AND GOES, THIS IS NOT PRACTICAL. IT DOES SEEM TO BE RELATED TO WHEN THE CAR IS HOT FROM EITHER CITY TRAFFIC OR IDLING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY ENGINE GOING DEAD WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO SET SPEED THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR JUST DROPS POWER AND CUTS OFF. I TRAVEL 110 MILES A DAY ROUND TRIP AND IT HAPPENS AT LEAST THREE TIMES A DAY. NISSAN HAS INFORMED ME SINCE THERE IS NO ERROR CODE IN THE ECM THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BASICALLY ITS MY PROBLEM. AN EXISTING RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE SHOULD INCLUDE THE 3.5L ENGINE AS WELL AS CAMSHAFT/CRANKSHAFT AND TCM. ALL CAUSE SIMILAR LIFE-THREATENING SYMPTOMS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY POWERS COMPLETELY OFF BRIEFLY LOSING ALL POWER TO LIGHTS ETC, DECELERATE RAPIDLY AND YOU LOSE STEERING CONTROL AND SPEED CONTROL. VEHICLES COME UP ON YOU QUICKLY AT NIGHT AND EVEN IF YOU GET THE VEHICLE RESTARTED YOU HAVE NO POWER IN TRANSMISSION AND MERELY LIMP ON AT AN IDLE SPEED. VERY VERY DANGEROUS. WHY IT WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL 2007 RECALL IS NISSAN TRYING TO SAVE A BUCK. THEY USED THE SAME MFG & SAME PARTS AS IN THE 2.5L. THEY KNOWINGLY WITHHELD IT FROM BEING INCLUDED. I ALSO CONTACTED THEM ABOUT THE TCM. KEEP IN MIND THE WERE BITING THEIR NAILS AFTER BEING PRESENTED WITH A CLASS ACTION SUITE REGARDING THE DEFECTIVE TCM. LUCKILY FOR THEM IT WAS DISMISSED TEMPORARILY. BUT THEY NEVER MENTIONED ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WHEN THEY RESPONDED TO ME AND NEVER OFFERED ANY RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR STALLED FOR A SECOND AND THEN WAS FINE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NEXT DAY COMING TO A STOP AT LIGHT AND CAR STALLED AGAIN. WOULD NOT RESTART TOOK FIVE MINUTES TO START. *AK EVERY TIME YOU CRANK CAR IT TAKE THIRTY SECONDS TO FIVE MINUTES TO START.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY VEHICLE HAS CUT OFF ON ME. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWO OF THE THREE TIMES. THE FIRST TIME, IT CUT OFF AS I PREPARED TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET A PROBLEM READING FROM THE COMPUTER. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO GO AROUND A CURVE IN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. IT SPUTTERED AND CUT OFF. FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS BEHIND ME, AS IT WAS ONLY A TWO LANE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE CAR. THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE RECALL CAME OUT SHORTLY AFTER, HOWEVER MORRIS NISSAN REFUSED TO REPAIR MY CAR WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR THE REPAIR, AS THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD NOT GOTTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM NISSAN YET ON THE RECALL AND COULD NOT DO IT FREE OF CHARGE. THE THIRD TIME WAS JUST TODAY AS, ONCE AGAIN, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. *TR
